She’s the queen they desperately need. He’s the king who doesn’t deserve her.
Born centuries after the mysterious Omega Plagues, Vali may be the last Omega in existence, prophesied to save her country by marrying the king. Unfortunately for her, King Rigol may be the least deserving Alpha in the world…and he may also be going insane.
Instead of falling for the beautiful, innocent Vali, the king falls into a trap. By the time he realizes what he’s done, Vali’s in the dungeon, and the king’s bed is being warmed by his biggest mistake yet.
Vali’s ready to flee the castle, but his four irresistible generals are set on convincing her to fall for their idiot best friend.
But can they convince her to fall in love without falling for her themselves?
Vali is the first volume in The Lost Lines Collection, a series of interconnected RH romantasy Omegaverse romances with humor, angst, and plenty of spice. This beautifully formatted omnibus edition contains a rewritten second edition of The King’s Omega, The Queen’s Nest, maps, and new character art. For mature readers only. Please read the content advisories in the Author’s Note.
Once upon a time, Merri Bright tucked romance novels behind all her textbooks and read love stories instead of the lessons. Now she writes the same kind of books she’s always loved, dreaming up stories about naughty angels, misunderstood demons, sexy shifters, growly Alpha males, and all sorts of dragons.
She drinks cinnamon tea while she writes, and believes in the power of naps, kitten cuddles, and long walks with her dog. Come watch Merri be socially awkward at Merri’s FB page or Instagram @merribright, or email her at merri@merribright.com.
In 2021, I published my first romance, The King’s Omega. I had no idea if readers would enjoy this reverse harem omegaverse romantasy, but I was having so much fun with the world building and the naughtiness that I kept on writing. Readers who liked their knotty books with a little magic and a lot of humor did find the series and asked for more. That first book turned into ten!
This year, after wrapping up three other series, I decided to finish The Lost Lines and publish the collected books for each heroine with new bonus content and some beautiful character art. When I peeked back at The King’s Omega, though, I knew I needed to give that first book more than just a polish.
For those who have read this story before, I promise I didn’t take out your favorite parts! In order to maintain continuity in the series, I left everything in the plot. (Yes, this means the magical lady bits are still as magical.) I just added a few chapters, smoothed some character arcs, edited it thoroughly, and worked as hard as I could to get this story to sparkle as brightly as the later ones in the series. It’s still on the fluffy end for the series, and Vali remains my most wide-eyed FMC to date.
The content advisory list for this is long and makes me giggle nervously when I write it all out. The full list is only available at www.merribright.com. But below are a few of the more important ones for readers to note. This book is only for mature readers.
What’s inside? OWD (other woman drama), fun with r0pes and chaïns, voyëurism, inexperienced/innocent FMC, inexperienced MMC, themes of past sëxual and emotional trauma, violence, profanity, age gap, unusual l*ctation, kn0tting, scenes that may be read as dub-c0n, power imbalance, and steamy scenes with more than one mate. There is also a kitten. It is never actually harmed, though there is some worry about the possibility. There is pregnancy and a humorous conversation about off-page MM activity in the epilogue story, The Queen’s Nest. If you have more questions about the content, I’m always happy to receive kindly worded emails at merri@merribright.com or from followers on my Ream stories account. https://reamstories.com/merribright XO, Merri
The King's Omega by Merri Bright First book in The Lost Lines Collection ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶🌶🌶💀💀 This is my reread of a favourite book and author, as she is republishing Vali's story with a beautiful new cover, some tweeking of chapters, a new chapter or two and a novella at the end. I absolutely loved spending time with Vali and her men, yeah even King Rigol but most of all Axe. *giggling I do enjoy Merri's giants... Vali's clumsy, innocent and naive outlook is so pure and utterly beautiful. Laugh out loud funny character. Sorcha was a great motherly side character. King Rigol starts out on a bad note, plane alphahole but he does grovel well. Vilkurn the King Spy falls hard for her innocence. The twins Lorn, charmer and Tarn, the thief finds something precious in her, something they never knew was missing. Together they rescue, heal and defend Rimholt and its citizens even new ones. Entertaining, emotional and comfort omegaverse read filled with prophecy, lost bloodlines and beginning of adventure. Tropes: Why choose. Knots. Heats. Triggers. Chosen family. Age gap. Groveling. Pregnancy. Breeding. Big small. Quotes: “Huh. Kings should be old and poxy. And fat, I think. They have gout and things, so they limp. Not really in keeping with a classic king persona. Seems suspicious to me.” An earthquake bubbled up beneath me. Was he laughing at me?
He mouthed, Are you sure? I nodded, though I knew I was trembling. “Will you keep me safe?” I whispered. Always, he told me silently, then pressed a gentle kiss on my lips, his soft beard rubbing my chin and cheeks, raising goosebumps. “That was my first proper kiss,” I confided. Axe’s eyes gleamed as he retreated.
“Was it all you expected?”“And more,” I replied with a groan. “I’ve never felt… never wanted anyone like this. Did the book say anything about Omegas having witchcraft?”“No, brother, but I know what you mean. I feel it, too.”
This story is a beautiful blend of fantasy world-building and sweet, steamy Omegaverse, the kind that sinks its claws in early and refuses to let go. The setting is rich, the lore around the Omega Plagues is fascinating, and Vali absolutely shines as the queen fate demands, and the kingdom deserves.
Her harem? Swoon-worthy, devoted delights. The four generals are honestly the highlight of the entire book. Their loyalty, their chemistry, and the way they orbit around Vali with equal parts reverence and heat made it impossible for me not to fall for them. Every scene with them had me devouring the pages and wanting more.
So why four stars? A few things pulled me out: Rigol. I struggled with him more than I expected. While there were hints at the “why” behind his behavior, it never felt fully explained or resolved in a satisfying way, leaving me a little disconnected from his arc. I also wasn’t the biggest fan of how the “barks” were used….they sometimes felt more distracting than impactful. And the ending? Abrupt. I turned the page expecting more and instead got a full stop when I wanted a smooth glide into the next chapter or installment.
Still, the magic, the intrigue, the delicious slow-burn bonds forming between Vali and the generals, and the warm, honeyed tension of a court that desperately needs its queen kept me invested from start to finish.
If you love fantasy romance with Omegaverse heat, devoted alphas, rich lore, and a heroine finding her rightful place in a kingdom teetering on chaos, this one is absolutely worth picking up.
I actually already read these books in the past, but unfortunately (or fortunatelly, depending on the situation), I’m one of those people who can’t remember a single thing about most books a year after reading them. As a result, I can’t comment on the changes the author made to the story for this book. However, I can say I really loved Vali’s story this time. Some scenes are hilarious, others are endeering, or heartbreaking, or healing something inside of me.
I desperately needed a book to take me out of everyday life for a moment, and Vali provided. I loved Vali as a character; even with everything she had seen and experienced, she managed to keep a hold of her big heart and sunny character. I always have a soft spot for clumsy people, so that made me fall in love with her immediately. Most of the men were just as amazing from the start, and even though our king deserved a few kicks in the crown jewels, I do understand why Vali loves him anyway. It is part of who she is, but I also think the author cleaned his character up just enough to make readers understand why he does what he does.
All in all, I really enjoyed this book and I’m excited to do a reread of the entire series now!
The lost lines collection volume 1 by merri bright consist of The King Omega and The Queen Nest. I have read these books before and was lucky to have the opputnity to read these adapted version in thia collection i enjiyed them the first time round and even more so the second in this Collection. The Kings Omega Loved Vali in this book she is such an amazingly wonderful character who went through things that have only made her a stronger character over all.
The Queens Nest
We are back with our favourite characters Vali and her men. I certainly enjoyed this short Novella being able to see everyone again but sad that its all over for them. They really was amazing characters and plot.
Every book of Merri Brights I read I love she is an amazing writer and I am always so excited to dive in and start reading when I see her book has hit my kindle. Vali is so strong after everything she has been been though. she doesn't let that keep her down. I laughed , cried and wanted to throw my kindle. It shows right there that with all the different emotions that you feel well reading this that the writer know what she is doing and making you have all the feels.
I’m so obsessed with this book and these characters.
The King’s Omega
I absolutely loved this story and characters. Vali is such an amazing character and what she went through and endured makes her an unforgettable character. I couldn’t get enough of Vali, Axe, Tarn, Loran, Vilkurn and Rigel. Truly an amazing story and definitely one to one click. Definitely an amazing Omegaverse story.
The Queen’s Nest
So thrilled to get more of Vali and her men. I loved Ace and Vali’s nest time. This steamy and sweet novella was absolutely amazing. I definitely wasn’t ready to say goodbye to these characters. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Definitely everyone must read and one-click
I voluntarily reviewed this ARC in exchange for an honest review
King Rigol is desperate. His kingdom is in danger of falling. He has placed all of his hope in a prophecy promising a savior in the form of an Omega. A plague killed off the Omegas years ago; however, according to a Seer, there is one hidden within his city. Following the clues of the prophecy, King Rigol finds the Omega, and she's everything he dreamed of: blond, curvy, and beautiful. Unfortunately, the King is fooled and misses the true Omega. Instead, he's rude and threatening to her. But not his Generals. They see immediately what he is blind to. When his eyes are finally opened, it's too late. Lucky for him, his Omega is a remarkable treasure, determined to save them all.
In January of 2023, I enjoyed The King's Omega, this fairytale Omegaverse, now renamed and revised as Vali: The Lost Lines Collection. Despite the horrible introduction of Vali and the nearly fatal flaw of the men's lack of adoration, I fell in love with Vali herself. Apparently, I was in the minority. I do not understand why Vali was so disliked. However, first impressions matter, and hers was not good for most readers. That has been remedied. She is adorable, sassy, sweet, clumsy, and clever. My bad first impression was not of her but of King Rigol. He was not worthy of his crown. We heard tales of his kindness and good leadership, but never witnessed them. He was foolish, mean, easily seduced, and acted in haste. At one point, he tried to force himself on her. Time spent with him as a teacher was a good start, but there needed to be more redemption before he could even be considered as a potential mate. The twins, Lorn and Tarn, and the spymaster Vilkurn grew on me. Only Axe, her Mountain Man, treated her like she was precious from the beginning, though, and was an easy favorite for me.
In my original review, I stated the book had so much potential, but it needed more time for character and relationship development, as well as time for a redemption arc. As it was written, it felt rushed since so many story threads had to be woven together, but the end. The story and the romances were all shortchanged. HOWEVER, in this revised version, all my complaints were addressed. The world-building was already extensive, and the story solid. Now Vali completely owns this story. In a world of black and white, Vali is Technicolor. The male characters were more fleshed out, and there are added scenes that make a nuanced difference. A story I enjoyed before is even better now.
okay so overall i enjoyed this book and it had me loling just like the other Merri Bright books i’ve read.
𝑽𝒂𝒍𝒊: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 includes 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈’𝒔 𝑶𝒎𝒆𝒈𝒂 and 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒆𝒏’𝒔 𝑵𝒆𝒔𝒕 which is a novella featuring the same characters after 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈’𝒔 𝑶𝒎𝒆𝒈𝒂. this version of 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑲𝒊𝒏𝒈’𝒔 𝑶𝒎𝒆𝒈𝒂 has been edited and content added. i never read the original published in 2021, so this was my first introduction to Vali and her men.
Vali was hilarious and i loved her and her kitten, Mischief. Vali, while young and a bit naive in some ways, was still hardened by life and growing up in a brothel. she said whatever came to her mind and didn’t shy away from telling off the King or his guards.
this was definitely a unique omegaverse world set in a time where there are kings and queens and kingdoms. all omegas have died because of a plague and all that are left are betas and alphas. this set up a world where i definitely want to keep reading the series to see what else is going to happen next and to who.
tbh, i don’t think i would have picked up this book on my own if it wasn’t being republished bc of the other woman drama. it’s not something i read very often. but also Rigol 🙃 all i am going to say is he did not deserve Vali. even in the end. and he knew it, too.
but of course Axe was my favourite and tbh, the only one that really deserved Vali. her giant protector, Axe is the King’s Executioner who cannot speak after having his throat cut and uses sign language to communicate.
tho lots of drama, don’t worry bc this book was fast with the spice 🥵
𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑸𝒖𝒆𝒆𝒏’𝒔 𝑵𝒆𝒔𝒕 was a quick novella set around Vali’s next heat. but of course nothing can be that easy for Vali and trouble finds them at the worst time.
thank you Merri Bright for an e-ARC of 𝑽𝒂𝒍𝒊: 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 ✨👑💛
✦ ✦ ✦ ✦ ✦ MFMMMM, AOAAAA, 1st person multi-POV 20 fmc, 31 mmc, 31 mmc, 31 mmc, 33 mmc, ??? mmc prophecy, a bit of magic, virgin fmc, inexperienced mmc, twins in group, mates, biting/bond marks, knotting, heat scene, blindfolding, bondage/rope, safe word, HEA
safety: lots of OW drama, one of the mmcs is a manwhore and is known to sleep around, it’s also talked about often of the other mmcs past sex lives, and you do have an on page sex scene with Rigol and the OW, Selene
The King’s omega introduces Vali, a sweet, but not saccharine, heroine who will innocently worm her way into your heart. Her cheeky, adorable companion, cat Mischief, comes along for the ride and steals almost every scene they are in. I deeply admire this author’s skill, as I was immediately invested in Vali, and the fascinating world and story emerging around her.
Her mates were also well written - I fell in love with Axe even faster than Vali did!! King Rigol seemed irredeemable for the longest time, but edged over the line. Vilkurn we saw emerging and falling in love with her, and Tarn and Lorn each had some great moments, but I definitely wanted more. And I guess that’s the skill of this author - every character is so “real” that I want to delve deeper and know more. From the main characters to the laundry mistress, I can picture them, I can “feel” who they are, and I want to hang out with them and know more.
I also appreciated how the story physically moved around, building a more and more complex and fascinating world, while the characters and their love story also progressed. It’s such a great intro to this world, and makes me want to come back for the future stories (although this story stands alone if you want to stop here).
This author is a master of show don’t tell - for example, we can laugh along when we “see” Vali’s endearing clumsiness, which she remains oblivious to. It’s just so well done, compared to some other books I’ve read.
The second book/ story in this omnibus edition digs deeper into the characters I didn’t spend enough time with in the first; and briefly introduces Ratter, who is just … the best!
We see more of Vali with her mates in an intimate setting, but also how they overcome more adversity. Fantastic! A beautiful finish, and a chance to spend more time with the mates I wanted more of from the first story.
Absolutely loved this special edition of The King's Omega and The Queen's Nest. This edition, Volume 1 of The Lost Lines, is beautiful inside and out. The story has been completely revamped while keeping all the parts that you loved while adding even more to love! Here's looking at you, Axe and Vilkurn. I loved them before, but they positively made my heart melt in this version. The twins were absolutely yummy, and gained so much depth this time around. I loved how much the guys loved Vali, and wished to protect her, but I also loved how much this love and care extended to their King and country! It is clear by their thoughts and actions just how much they care for King Rigol. Thankfully, the goddess has surrounded him by such good friends, advisors, and generals that they will do whatever it takes to protect Rigol from himself, while steadfastly leading him to his Omega and mate. Vali is beautiful, courageous, caring, and as funny as all get out! Her kitten is aptly named, Mischief, because the two of them can certainly find some Mischief if it doesn't find them first. I absolutely love this take on Omegaverse, and as always enjoyed every second of it. I laughed, cried, fumed a bit at a certain character, but gained a much better understanding of how Alphas and Omegas are a perfect match that complement one another, and need one another to maintain balance, strength, and optimal health. As I stated before, this book is also visually stunning with new drawings and maps. I highly recommend you give this Special edition a try. I promise you won't regret it. It is pure Merri magic, and as always she will leave you wanting more!
Turning things around today, starting with my favourite quote. To me it encompasses what this book is about, lighthearted, humour, imaginative and hot.
'If I had known Omega meant magical cow, I would have run back to the Sow long ago. “I need more cloths,” I muttered, trying to stuff rags into my chemise in shapes that looked natural.'
This book is about an omega in denial, who believes they’re all extinct and that there’s no possible way she could be one. This book is also about a king and his group of friends supporting him through his mad obsession with finding an omega, but when he finally finds her, his obsession blinds him and he throws her away. His closest friend, his fiercest protector, sees her though. The man without a voice, how is it possible that he who cannot, speaks the loudest?
Vali, my goodness, what can I even say? I loved it. It’s a slow burn, which I usually avoid, I’m glad I didn’t this time, this story was beautiful. The time that must have gone into writing this world.. I can’t even imagine, there are an infinite amount of ways that this universe could be built upon, this book has one of the most comprehensive foundations I’ve read in a long time— probably why it’s a slow burn, the amazing worldbuilding— it can be turned so many ways and I can’t wait to see where she takes us next.
This was my first read by Merri and I will definitely be reading more of hers!
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a bit of grovel with their romance, to anyone who enjoys dystopian/apocalyptic omegaverse. To anyone ready to dive head first into the world of Merri.
Vali, the Lost Lines Collection Volume One by Merri Bright contains the King’s Omega and the Queen’s Nest. This is an omegaverse romance set in a fantasy world. I received an advance review copy and my thoughts are my own. Thank you to the author for my eArc.
Tropes and themes include: ✨Why choose (mfmmmm) ✨Enemies to lovers ✨Inexperienced MMC ✨Innocent/very naive FMC ✨Heats and nesting ✨Knots and claiming marks ✨Mute MMC who uses hand signs ✨Other woman drama ✨Twin MMCs ✨Rejected mate
Rating: 4/5 Stars 3/5 Flames Nicknames: Little One, Kitten, Peaches
The Lovely: I loved the varying MMCs in the group and how different they were from each other. My favorite was her “Mountain Man.” I liked that they were acting behind the scenes when it came to the FMCs (valid) issues with the King and how they knew something was amiss.
The Mundane: The FMC felt really, really young to me, younger than her stated age of 20. It seemed like she was made out to be not just naive but infantiled in some regards, to the point where it could be construed the MMCs were taking advantage of her (even though they did ask for consent frequently).
Recommendation: I’ve seen very few romantasy omegaverse stories - the only other two being Whisked Away by Enola Douglas and Quest for her Knights by Shona Knight - so I was looking forward to this one. While this omnibus concludes Vali’s story it looks like some of the other omegas get their own stories in other books (that are already available). If you like omegaverse romance but in a fantasy world with a large group of MMCs, I think you might like this book.
4.5 stars. This set, containing two stories, is sextuple POV (though primarily lead female omega, Vali), well written and edited, and a darker, royal, spicy, reverse harem fantasy omegaverse romance between Vali and her male alpha leads, Rigol, the king, and his generals, Axe (Rigol’s half brother), Vilkurn, and twins, Lorn and Tarn. I adored the chaos that Vali’s clumsiness brought to the story, as well as her pet kitten. I enjoyed her resilience and self-awareness, as well as her genuine kindness. I enjoyed Axe’s kindness and care for Vali, as well as his loyalty and commitment to his “brothers”. I enjoyed Vali’s immediate attachment to him, in spite of all the apparent barriers. I enjoyed Vilkurn’s softening towards Vali, and his playfulness, and his understanding and acceptance of her hard limits. I enjoyed Tarn and Lorn’s facilitation of her needs, and I would have enjoyed more page time for these two. I enjoyed Rigol’s repentance after his initial poor behaviour and would have preferred he pay more but understand that wasn’t in line with Vali’s personality. I enjoyed the spicy intimate scenes, and the way they showed the relationships deepening. I enjoyed the many supportive and essential secondary characters, and chuckled at the contrast they brought, often lightening what could be quite dark moments. This is an updated and enhanced version of the author’s original story, though I can’t comment on changes because I had not read the original.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.
In a world of Alphas and Betas, Omegas being lost a long time ago, Vali doesn't believe she's anyone special. But, she's a hard worker and cares for those who cares for her back. However, if you rub her the wrong way, well...you'll have to do a lot of groveling to get back into her good graces. So it's a very unlucky day for her when the King and his men shows up at the Rutting Sow and Mischief is afoot. Like, literally, Mischief, her cat, is about to be trample by the King. It's instant disdained the two have for one another. Well, who really cares, right? Especially when she's got her hands full with four of the King's men, who are giving her plenty of attention. They believe she's an Omega. No way since Omegas are more of a myth. But the Goddess works in mysterious ways and they all are about to learn that there are important lessons to learn and prices they'll have to pay.
This is a collection of books that I first read from Merri Bright that got me hooked on her storytelling. She has gone back and updated/edited the books (don't worry, all the fun, hilariousness, and spiciness are still there) and put them into this beautiful collection for all her fans and new readers to the genre can enjoy in one go. It was great to reread how this series got started again; a great "walking down the memory lane" kind on moment. If you are newer to the Alpha-Omega-Beta (Omegaverse) universe and don't mind the reverse harem, then I'd definitely recommend this first volume.
Merri did it again as usual. What’s not to love. It’s Merri Bright. Vali is funny, quirky, off balance but keeps you coming back. I read this book in less than a day and you get two stories for one in the book, “The King’s Omega” and “The Queen’s Nest” It will elicit a lot of varying emotions from hilarious laugh out loud to blatant “I am going to skin alive and kill them” rage. Definitely there is some yelling at some of the characters.
There is so much to keep you wanting more. A lovable, charming, sweet FMC that will tell you like it is, hot steamy scenes, scenes that breaks your heart, a psychotic female villain that you just plain want dead even from the start, possessive, romantic MMCs to die for but hands off Axe because he is mine.
Ok, maybe 4 out of 5 MMC is to die for as the other one is going to have you raging and hating on him, thinking he is a moron and an idiot; however, Merri does an amazing job redeeming him by the end and definitely in “The Queen’s Nest”. That doesn’t mean I forgive him totally. So my favorite MMCs are Axe and Vil. Ok Lorn and Tarn too. 😂😂 You can probably figure out haha who is missing.
It is always a pleasure to read any book by Merri. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think you will too. Side note to Merri: I am glad you choose Axe first. 😉😉😘😘. Perhaps he was your book crush like the rest of us!! 😂😂😂
Anyways go read it and enjoy getting to know Vali and her men. I absolutely adore her and loved her story. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💜💜💜

This book is a gem! Merri Bright gave her first book a re-write to flesh out the story and characters and somehow I love Vali a little bit more. If you are looking for a unique Omegaverse setting with full characters, this series is for you! While Omegaverse books all have unique elements to them with non-shifting Alphas, Omegas and Betas, this series stands apart from them with it’s setting. In this first book of the series you can find a fairy tale kingdom of knights, kings, villagers and villains in a timeless age without technology that takes you into a completely different era that gives you a glimpse of the past... who doesn’t need an escape today?
Vali is a Merri character reminiscent of the best parts of her heroines that she introduces us to throughout all of her series… strong, quirky, clever and loveable. We are introduced to fated scent matches and unique Omega traits, devoted mates and one mate that is hard to like in the first introductions… but don’t worry, he redeems himself!
Vali overcomes a tough life beginning of abuse and neglect which shapes her personality and life to make an admirable character who is compassionate and street smart. This story has Kings, guards, peasants and big bad villains and a storyline with action and drama, betrayal and forgiveness.
A fun why choose Omegaverse book, a fantastic start to her Lost Lines series and typical Merri Bright brilliance, I highly recommend this read!
I am loving this refresh of Vali's story released in a new omnibus edition. This was one of my first omegaverses and I am sucker for Merri Bright's alphas! Vali is such a sweet character you can't help but be charmed by her. She's naïve, has a heart of gold and the fact she is clumsy made me like her even more. I loved how she had an excuse ready for every time the sheets got mixed up! Her relationship with Axe was probably my favourite on them all. The absolute tenderness hidden behind the executioner mask had me kicking my feet.
I'm a Rigol girl even if he was the worst to start with. My all time favourite is Gavriel from Feather's series and I definitely feel like these two are the same type of guy, different font, so that tracks for me! Selene, however, is an absolute viper. There was genuine tension with Selene's plotting and I couldn't wait for her karma to catch up although I did really enjoy her plotline as a twist on OWD. It's almost a five star for me however I felt that the twins never really had the same time to shine as Axe, Vilkurn and Rigol. The ongoing misunderstanding about the dress did make me laugh though!
My interpretation of the star system; 3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again 4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series 5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
I had read the Kings Omega several years ago, so felt drawn to see this new collection with improvements. Once again, the story sucked me in right from the beginning. I really liked getting to know all the different characters and their unique paths that brought them together. Right from the beginning, Vali is a smart and sassy slip of a girl who chooses to be strong willed and outspoken, yet very genuine and empathetic. Thrust into the world of 5 alphas, I found it easy to really feel the vulnerability from each of them as they tried to find a solution to this omega mystery amidst the threat to the kingdom. With some quirky dialogue, heated romance, political intrigue and the myths of the omega’s gifts, this story once again had a little bit of everything. It was so engaging I could’t put the book down until I reached the HEA ending. Loved it!
The Queen’s Nest novella focuses on the early days of Vali and her alpha’s. I just had to step back and realize the scenes were taking place sometime before the epilogue in the first part of the novel. Who knew what would happen if an omega‘s nest was disrupted and mates threatened.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a new, improved version of a story that Merri Bright released a few years ago. I did read the original version and found it quite enjoyable, my opinion didn't change with this version. The story runs the reader through a gamut of emotions and some angst y situations, if you hate other woman drama you should probably steer clear of this one (though the other woman is a manipulating imposter).
I like how Merri took a slightly different spin with the Omegaverse in this story. Vali's magical lady bits are definitely one of a kind and added an extra dose of fantasy on top of the rest.
What I found most interesting during my re-read of this version was where I could see the roots of Merri's future characters. I could see Feather's heart and Flor's sass in scrappy Vali. Saying that does not downgrade any of those stories in my mind, simply showcases Merri's character style.
Anyway, give it a go. You'll probably like it. Many thanks to Merri Bright for sending me an ARC of this book to review.
Several years ago I joined a book group for "baby authors", those who were either currently unpublished or had less than three books. In that group, a new author asked for readers for her new omegaverse series, starting with a book called The King's Omega. I eagerly volunteered and devoured that book (and every book of hers since then!) I will be honest - I was concerned when Merri had said she was revising this book, but I should have known better. Vali exceeded my memories and expectations of this lovely story and the beginning of one of my all-time favorites series.
Over the years, Merri has refined her voice, and the growth is evident in the way she expertly weaves magic, love, humor, and drama into a story that leaves you wanting to know everything you can about Rimholt, Verdan, Starlak, and all of the other kingdoms, as well as the Omega "sisters". It was great revisiting some of my favorite characters like Vil, Axe, and Vali, and, of course, a young Ratter! If you are new to this series, please enjoy the ride!
When I tell you this book was taunting me on my kindle I'm not kidding. I was counting down the days until it's release only to not be able to read it until now. Work has been stressful but getting lost in this book has been my reward.
I can still remember reading The King's Omega not long after it first released. Falling in love with the story and the writing. When I saw the author's announcement about this book I was a bit nervous. What would she change? Would it still be the story I originally fell in love with?
I'm so happy to say that the changes never took away from the wonderful characters. I loved Vali's story when I first read it and now it's gotten a rewrite. Everything I originally loved is still there but we get more depth to our favorite characters. It was fun reading this story again and finding the new added content. This is still one of my favorite omegaverse stories.
Vali is the first book in The Lost Lines Collection. It is a why choose, fantasy, omegaverse romance. The story is told in first person with multiple POV.
This was an awesome read. I really enjoyed Vali and her guys story. I loved the prophecy aspect of the story, as well as the action, intrigue, and the spice.
Vali was such a terrific FMC. I loved her personality and her quirkiness. I loved the unique omega characteristics that she possesses as well. I also loved all the MMC's, although one took quite a bit of redemption to get me there.
The writing, pace, flow, and plot of the story were all great, as were the characters, character development, relationship development, storytelling, storyline, and world building. If you love fantasy and omegaverse then you should definitely check this one out.
Fantastic romance here. I was literally overwhelmed by it and that doesn't happen often. I love Feather as she is the savior of sorts for centuries but this leaves her with a residu of filth and now she can't get it of with the help of the realm and she is an outcast. Now the guys are safekeepers but were failing in their job and have a war amongst themselves but now Feather comes in and they weren't prepared for the feisty girl at their hands. They all have very different reactions and it makes the story really good. Now this is improved but I can't remember word for word but the story really flows well and is so good I can only recommend reading this collection as it is epic and brillian writing by the author.
I love this book! There is something in Merri's writing that speaks to me. She brings her characters to life in your mind and her omegaverse differs from other authors. I want to be Vali. Vali has no idea what she is and what it means. She’s an omega that can give her lover special powers. She manages to get into lots of trouble. Her mates all love her and will always love her until the end of time. This has high octane clean s$x. As Vali and her mates continue their journey, they find that someone is out to take Vali for her new powers. Vali is young in years but at times she is so wise that it will surprise you. You will laugh so hard you’ll pee in your pants and you won’t want to put the book down. You will just have to read this book!
I have read pretty much every book by Merri especially the lost lines series but had never read Vali’s books.
I absolutely love the lost lines series and going back to the beginning to see where it all started was amazing. I had met Vali and her mates in other books but getting to see her story and how she became who she was put everything together for me 😍
This story has lots of plot surrounding omegas and how they are part of the world Merri has built. I loved seeing how everything came to together whilst also cursing some of the grumpy alphas 🤣
The spice was super hot 🥵 the plot was plotting, I couldn’t stop laughing at phrases or scenes and so much emotion breaking my heart made for 1 fabulous special volume book of Vali and her mates 🖤
I have no idea which make is my favourite so I’m just going to have them all as new book husbands 😝
I read Vali's story soon after it debuted a few years ago. I loved her then, and I love her now in the updated version. Axe was still endearing. The King was a donkey (for a while, anyway lol). Vilkurn was rather naughty. And the twins were well matched to Vali's shenanigans. Add in the cat, and we have a winning cast!
Vali would be the one you wanted in your life for real. She was brave, funny, and loved with her whole heart. She kept the fellas, and the kingdom, on their toes.
As when I read it before, I adored the worldbuilding and the creative take on Omegaverse. Vali the Omega will life your spirits and make you smile, so I definitely recommend you escape into her world for a bit!
This is a rewrite by Merri Bright and oh my goodness I absolutely love this book. I am such a fan of Omegaverse books and this one is done so well.
Vali is clumsy and doesn't realize she is more than what she thinks. Having been abused by a woman that takes advantage of her. When she meets King Rigol and his 2nd Axe, she is curious about them but the king seems to think the mean girl is something important.
I don't want to give anything away with my review but this is a reverse harem, lost Omegas book with the men evolving and also wanting to smack one upside the head. I waa on the edge of my seat with this book!
What an amazing story. Rigol is sure that Selene is his omega and takes her and Vali, the dirty disgusting child, to the castle. Axe carries Vali to the castle and he knows that she is more than what she represents. Rigol's closest friends tries to tell him he made a mistake, but he wouldn't listen. He will learn that too late that Selene is not who she says she is. Vali creates a attraction for the kings closest friends, Axe, Tarn, Lorn, and Vilkurn, who vow to protect her and their kingdom. This book is full of tension, suspense, strong emotions, hot passion, and ends with a happy ending. I loved this book.
