Dani has a way to make you feel allll the things…wow!

This is probably one of my favorite hockey series. This book specifically is book 3 - Colton and Violets story. There are some triggers so definitely read the warnings at the beginning!

Colton hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her since college - here we are 11 years later and he still wants to be her everything. Violet cut him off with no reasoning and it’s hard not to carry that with you - soo may emotions were felt during the reading of this book but I definitely recommend the read! Thank you Dani and @happilybookedpr for the early read. All opinions are my own.

While not my favorite, this book was a good read.

Second (Third, really) chance, plus fake dating in a friends-with-benefits way.

I didn't love the present tense narration.
I didn't particularly enjoy the FMC. I know she's dealing with trauma but she really needed healthier coping mechanisms.
MMC was really a golden retriever of a man, who deserved better from his dad and FMC.
What I disliked most of all was how much they both risked (careers, reputations) doing dumb stuff.

All that said, I did like the camaraderie from Colt's teammates. The author did a solid job of showing that the healing process isn't linear or straightforward, and can take a long time.

If you're a fan of the series, this is probably right up your alley!
I did enjoy the WAGs, Jeannine and Mara.

Thank you Happily Booked for providing this book for review consideration via BookFunnel. All opinions are my own.

Right, let’s talk about Untouchable, because Dani Galliaro has no business hitting me with this level of emotions. This book feels completely different from the first two Ohio Rusties instalments — in the best, most heart-melty way possible. It’s sweeter, it’s softer, it’s more emotional, and it genuinely feels like Dani has levelled up her own writing style. You can tell she poured so much heart into Violet and Colt’s story.

And Colton… be serious. He is the blueprint for book boyfriends. The quiet intensity? The pining? The loyalty? The “I would kill anyone for you and then apologise for the mess” energy??? I was truly unwell 😩 He’s the kind of MMC you think about at inconvenient moments — like whilst on a run (Violet gets it)…

The biggest shock of all: I normally don’t enjoy second chance romance. I’m very “once we’re done, we’re done” coded. But this book? This book said “actually, you will care” and suddenly I was fully invested, clutching my Kindle like a Victorian widow. Violet and Colt fit together so effortlessly, like they’re made for each other. Their chemistry is insane — slow-burn ache mixed with “I’ve loved you forever” tension? Inject it straight into my veins.

The emotional depth in this book is next level. The way Dani explores trauma, healing, miscommunication, and the realities of carrying old wounds… I wasn’t expecting it, but it made the payoff so much sweeter. And the found family vibes?? The Rusties remain undefeated. Every side character feels like someone you actually know, which makes returning to this world so comforting.

And let’s not pretend the spice wasn’t spicing. The tension, the acting-out-scenes energy, the kinks, the semi-public moments — I was screaming, crying, sliding down the wall.

Another absolutely fantastic instalment to the Ohio Rusties series. Dani Galliaro truly does not miss.

“There’s no referee in relationships. No five for fighting. No sin bin.”

The obsession I have with this series is atrocious! In the first book, “Unbreakable”, we get an amazing intro into both the L.A. Princes and the Ohio Rusties through an adorable yet troubled married couple, Jeanine and Dylan. Book two, “Unthinkable”, takes us back in time a little ways to disabled single mom Mara and single dad/NHL star Jack (aka “Jackie Baby 😋) with a rollercoaster of emotions.

I have just finished book three, “Untouchable”, and the tears I have shed along with the all the feet kicking and giggling I have done must be criminal—at least according to my husband. He claims it was “a bit much” 🤭 Getting to know Colton a bit in the second book made me feel so sad for him. He loved being captain of his team and his teammates were his family, but he wanted more. He dreamed of having his own wife to kiss and load the dish washer for. He wanted his own children to paint his toenails and put bows in his hair. So, for his heartache to be clearly explained in his own book and have a lot of light shed on his past was just a remarkable experience. He introduces us to his first and only love, the one that got away, Violet. From their breakup in college 11 years earlier all the way to them finding each other again as grown adults with careers….agghhhhh I’m trying not to cry again just writing this!

Please keep in mind that although this is not a dark romance series, you should check your trigger warnings. These books touch on some sensitive topics.

Dani’s writing is one of the best I have ever had the luxury of reading. My KU lineup is full of her other books, including her “Unintentional Puck Bunny” series which also features characters from this series! I cannot get enough of the L.A. Princes and the Ohio Rusties. Dani, thank you so much for putting these characters on paper. They have brought me SO MUCH joy and I love them all dearly. 🫶🏼

Because I am not near the writer Dani is I really don’t know if I’m able to put into words how incredibly talented she is. There are very few authors that make me feel every single emotion of the characters the way that Dani does. It is amazing & beautiful. If you ever have the chance to read a book by her please do it as a favor to yourself.

I have had the priveledge of ARC reading the 3 books of the Ohio Rusties series so far and they were all 5 star reads. Book 1 featured an already married couple of Jeanine and Dylan going through bumps in their marriage, with flashbacks of their relationship. In Book 2 we got Jack & Mara. They are both single parents who have been continuously let down by those around them.

That brings us to this book. Colton & Violet. They meet in college and have a deep unrelenting connection. Then Violet cuts him off. It destroys Colton. He doesn’t know what he did and doesn’t get the reason why it happened until 11 years later. Now he is trying to be Violet’s friend even though he still wants to be her everything.

The book is so much deeper than I’m describing but I don’t want to spoil anything.

I do recommend reading the trigger warnings if you have any triggers, because I want everyone to protect their own well-being. But, if you’re able to, please read this book!

Thank you Dani for this wonderful ARC.

What To Expect:
🏒hockey romance
💙second chance
🏒romance novel bucket list
💙healing old wounds

This was a classic second-chance romance that really delivered on the feels and the heat!
The premise of a hockey romance is always a good time, and Galluardo weaves a compelling story of two people who clearly have a past that needs addressing. The "second chance" trope is one of my favorites, and the author does a great job of building the tension and making you wonder what went wrong the first time around.
The characters are flawed, which makes them feel more real. There's a good mix of swoon-worthy moments and angsty drama, which kept me turning the pages late into the night. The chemistry between the main characters is palpable, and the spicy scenes are well-written and steamy.
While I occasionally found some plot points predictable (it is a romance novel after all!), the engaging writing style and the satisfying conclusion made it a thoroughly enjoyable read. If you're looking for a quick, emotional, and sexy read with a sports backdrop, this one's for you!

10/10 Would recommend this book to family and friends ❤️

A second chance romance that deals with some heavy topics. As always make sure you check all triggers before starting.

Colt and Violet were college sweethearts, but that all ended badly 10 years ago. But fate has them back in one another’s lives and Colt is determined to not let her go, even if it just means a friendship. Anytime Violet needs him, Colt is there no questions asked. You could feel how much he loved her and wanted to be in her life. Violet had something from her past she had blocked out and now that she has remembered, he is there willing to help her heal.

They start a romance book club and then they agreed to a pact to act out scenes from the books that they are reading. Let’s just say, the spice was spicing!!! And the chemistry between these two were off the charts. This book was full of emotions and will have your heart breaking and getting repaired with the help of Colt all over again.

I’m usually not a fan of miscommunication, but the way Dani approaches it, it’s done so well and the story behind it all with the trauma and healing, it works.

3.75. Untouchable, the third book in Dani Galliaro’s Ohio Rusties hockey romance series, delivers a beautifully emotional second-chance love story between Colton and Violet. Their college connection is cut short, but fate keeps pulling them back together over the years.
Colton’s unwavering commitment to Violet is endearing—his softness, patience, and quiet devotion make him such a standout. While Violet’s struggle with self-worth and her determination to heal felt realistic as it is a process with no set timelines.
Together, their story highlights the painfully real impact of trauma and mental health struggles, handled with care and authenticity.

Dani Galliaro handles trauma and mental health with care, and she continues to weave relatable, heartfelt moments into every couple’s story. A tender, hopeful romance that stands out in the series.

This story grabbed me from the start with its seamless dual POV narrative. The author masterfully weaves together past and present, creating a deep connection to both characters. The writing is emotional, intentional, and clear, making it easy to become fully invested in their journeys.

The author handles sensitive topics with compassion and thoughtfulness, adding a layer of comfort and validation to the story. The romance is tender and authentic, with a deep connection between the MC’s. The blend of intensity and comfort, heartbreak and joy, makes the story feel honest and human. A beautifully written tale that will keep you engaged and rooting for the characters.

Thank you to Happily Booked PR & Dani Galliaro for the chance to ARC read this.

I loved the other two books in the Ohio Rusties Hockey Series, so I had no doubts that I would also love this one. It did NOT disappoint. It was such an emotional roller-coaster. This book is like the ultimate love story. Second chances, pining, yearning, growing, healing, unbelievable commitment and dedication, just EVERYTHING! Violet ran and Colt waited. When she finally figured out why I was so heartbroken for her and for him. He was so understanding and was the absolute best EVER. The amount of ups and downs between them, plus his own stuff he was dealing with, and he never once wavered. Just an absolutely beautiful story. One that shows that true love really is untouchable. I highly recommend reading this amazing book!

Untouchable is part of the Ohio Rusties Hockey series. The story is a second chance with some significant twists that are gradually revealed. As always, the author skillfully guides the reader through the heavy subjects, with her exceptional grace and talent, as she did in her previous books.
I loved how Colton and Violet, even through all their struggles, were still there for each other by the end of the book. A fantastic story that held me hostage until the end.
Be sure to check the author’s trigger warnings.

Oh Colton! What an absolutely amazing MMC. He loved Violet with everything he had. Even when she broke his heart in college, he knew she was the one. When they came together again eleven years later, he went at her pace. Learning about her past and why she ran, he never backed down. He just continued to show her she was worth it. Violet was so strong and grew so much. Again, the team's banter and closeness was so good.

Oh Violet I wish I could give you the biggest hug. Colton is so wildly in love with her and has been since he met her at a party in college. I loved reading their story and am so grateful to have been sent this as an ARC!! I love how real the responses were to the trauma involved and how utterly sweet and thoughtful Colt is in showing his love and adoration for Violet. This was a quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end!

If you’re looking for a hockey romance that blends heavy emotion, filthy spice, and a decade’s worth of unresolved longing, Untouchable delivers with the force of a slapshot to the chest. This second chance love story isn’t soft around the edges—it’s raw in all the right ways, tender where it counts, and threaded with a steady hum of humor that keeps the weight from ever feeling too heavy. Colton and Violet collide like two people who’ve lived a lifetime in the absence of each other, carrying bruises from different battles but somehow healing in the same shape. Their chemistry is molten, yes, but what sticks with you is the emotional intelligence in the writing—the way trust is rebuilt slowly, awkwardly, beautifully, page by page.

The book handles trauma with remarkable care. Violet’s journey isn’t rushed or romanticized; it’s messy and real, full of stops and starts, and the writing gives her the dignity of surviving on her own terms. At the same time, Colton’s heartbreak and depression are treated with equal nuance. He’s a captain who holds too much, feels too much, and loves with the kind of devotion that would be exhausting if it weren’t written with so much heart. Watching him put his ego, career, and even his own healing second in order to give Violet space and safety made him one of the most emotionally compelling hockey heroes I’ve read. He is truly down bad in the most endearing, chest-aching way.

Even with the shadowed themes, the story shines with warmth—inside jokes, team antics, found family moments, and the kind of banter that makes these characters feel like people you know. Their reunion is layered with heartbreak, hope, and a softness that sneaks up on you until you realize you’ve been rooting for them since page one. They’re flawed, mature in some ways and startlingly young in others, but it works; trauma has a way of freezing time, and the book honors that truth.

Colton and Violet fit together like two people who’ve weathered different storms but end up standing in the same patch of sunlight. Dani builds their story with compassion, grit, and a whole lot of heat, crafting a romance that’s both deeply human and incredibly satisfying.

Untouchable is a heartbreakingly beautiful, emotionally heavy, and joyfully spicy second chance romance that proves healing isn’t linear—but love can be a lifeline.

I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.

Untouchable is book 3 in the Ohio Rusties series. I have absolutely loved this series and the way Dani is able to mix a sweet and enjoyable hockey romance with drama and raw emotion to keep you turning the pages wanting more.

I absolutely loved this second chance romance. It was executed perfectly. There was tension, angst, chemistry and an intense love for each other.

Colton Jones, captain of the Ohio Rusties hockey team, met his true love at a college party. Violet Gennari has a secret she isn’t ready to face which causes her to run. Fate brings them together a few years later at a friend’s wedding and after a night together Violet runs again leaving Colton wondering what he’s doing wrong. Two years later, Violet has moved to Ohio for work and has been trying to clear the skeletons from her closet but this means facing Colton again.

Colton is scared that Violet will leave again but also doesn’t want to let her go. Determined to help her on her journey of healing and moving past her fears they agree to read romance books together and act out the spicy scenes. But as things heat up, and they get caught in a scandal, fake dating is the only way to calm down the storm. Only there is nothing fake about their feelings.

I absolutely fell head over heels for Colton Jones. He was such a classic golden retriever character and I absolutely loved it. He had so much care and compassion for others. The way he was so gentle and careful with Violet, ready to support her and love her even if it meant he was left heartbroken and alone again.

Violet was so incredibly strong. Facing your trauma isn’t easy but she did it, she let people in, and she was able to begin healing.

Colton and Violet’s second chance romance was well done. I’m not always big on second chances but I honesty loved these two together. I enjoyed them both as their own character and really enjoyed them together. Even though their journey hasn’t been easy I think that makes their relationship that much stronger. They had both had time to grow up, both are ready to fight for their forever and heal from their pasts so it doesn’t tear them apart again.

Colt and Violet’s characters were messy, raw and flawed which made them feel even more relatable. They both had baggage they needed to work through, things they didn’t share with the other, but reconnecting allowed them the opportunity to grow, support and encourage each other to move forward.

I adored all the book references! I finished this with new books added to my tbr.

I absolutely love the way Dani crafts her stories. Her characters and stories just connects with my soul in a way you don’t always get with books. I am left processing all the emotions I have gone through with these characters. This book touches on heavy topics but it was approached in a respectful, gentle and loving manner. You can tell Dani took great care in capturing the experience authentically and respectfully.

Thank you so much to Dani Galliaro and Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to receive an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is my first time reading a book by Dani Galliaro and I sincerely applaud her creativeness in the way she wrote such an amazing book filled with banter, jokes and heavy topics that the fmc went through. Dani does list the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book to ensure each reader knows what heavy/sensitive topics are being talked about in the book. At the same time, she writes about these topics so eloquently and demonstrates a realistic approach of how something triggering can affect your life and eventually seeking therapy/help can help you move past it. Even though this is the third book in the series, each book can be read as a stand alone, but they are interconnected with each other in the same world.

This is the story of Violet, who has a secret to hide and doesn’t want anyone to know. She ends up meeting Colt in college and starts to fall in love with him. However, she feels like she can’t be loved or doesn’t deserve it and breaks up with Colt, breaking his heart. After 10 years, they unexpectedly reunite at their friends’ wedding weekend and the moment she sees him, she feels all of the emotions she felt for him come back in an instant. She notices how he lights up the whole room and just wishes that she didn’t end things the way she did when they were in college. Deep down, you can tell that she has always been struggling with her past and present.

Colt has always been in love with Violet ever since he met her and laid his eyes on her for the first time ever. He always showed up for her and always stood by her side, and hyped her up unconditionally. Deep down, he knew that Violet was hiding something but never pressured her to tell him and just waited patiently for her to tell him when the time was right. However, she ends up breaking his heart, and they haven’t seen each other in almost 10 years. The moment that they are in the same room during their friends’ wedding weekend, all his emotions rush back and vows to always love her and wait for her. He knows he won’t give up and will take whatever she offers him because for him, that is the love of his life.

This is the story of two people, who have been through so much in the time that they haven’t been together and finding a way to let each other in again. For Violet, it’s difficult to tell Colt what she went through in fear of his reaction. But knowing Colt, all he wants to do is protect her, love her, cherish her and show her that she is worthy of being loved. Let’s not forget that Colt also is going through some things and Violet tries to be there for him as well. I absolutely love and cried how these two people are clearly meant to be together and eventually they get there ❤️🥹

TW
*Sexual assault of FMC (offpage, NOT by MMC, but heavily discussed)

"But what I've found is that it's not about the wiener, but about the wiener owner caring about you."

Untouchable follows Colt and Vi, originally college sweethearts, as they rediscover their relationship 10 years later. Colt has never let the flame die, but Vi has always worried she'll be too much. As Vi gets the help she needs, will she be able to let herself be happy?

This book was unbelievably good. I picked it up and could not put it down until I finished. I have so many sections highlighted it's obscene (most being scenes that made me laugh out loud). If all you need to know is that the book is hopeful, kind, and hilarious then go and read with all the blessings. You'll have a great time.

Colt is the goldenest of retrievers. It's such a joy to see him through Vi's eyes in her chapters, because every time I do I just get it. He lights up every time he sees her in the best way. And being able to grow with Vi through the book as she is able to learn to see herself the way Colt sees her...chef's kiss.

Saying this book is hilarious feels like I'm doing it a disservice. I had to stop and re-read a few pages because I couldn't stop laughing. There's one scene where the word 'wiener' gets used 15 times on one page and I had to bring the book to my wife to read because I couldn't read it out loud through the wheezing. There's so many great funny moments, and I especially love that Colt and Vi share so many of them before, during, and after sex. It feels so good to see that layer of their relationship.

Speaking of the sex, the scenes in this book are hot. A lot of them are messy and I'm here for that 10,000%.

As mentioned in the trigger warnings section, this book deals pretty intensely with sexual assault and what comes after for someone. It would do this story a disservice to not mention how well that's handled. Vi does the hard work that is required to to move on with her life after having something awful done to her, and Dani managed this so well. Colt and Vi don't always get everything right in their healing journey together, but that's how life works. They never stop loving each other and trying though, which is what made this so kind to read.

This is one of those ARCs that's introduced me to an author I'd never read before, but now I want to dig into their entire back catalogue. This book was such a treat I immediately pre-ordered a copy because I really wanted to have this on my shelf. I can't recommend this enough.

ARC

Thank you Happily Booked ARC and Dani for the opportunity. All parts of this review are of my own honest opinion 💚

I want to start this off with a trigger warning. This book does include SA with drugging. It is not on the page or between the MCs, but it is referenced multiple times. There is also content with depression, physical assault, and graphic sexual/kinky content. Please be aware of these before reading the book. Some of these triggers will also be mentioned in this review, so do not read further if these are triggers you avoid. Your mental health and well-being should always come first 💚

Review:

I firstly need to mention how well Dani did in terms of writing about the SA. The content is not overly intense, but shows an accurate representation of what happens to so many people and the effects it can have on a person. With this, Dani shows the journey of Vi healing as she and Colt find their way back together. And Vi isn’t the only one healing. We see depression, stress, fearfulness, and so much more when it comes to Colt. It helps show that they are people who are going through a gracefully done healing process and I enjoyed that so much.

Then we have the spice. This book contained quite a bit of spice, and rightfully so because of the plot, and it’s certainly kinky 😂 These scenes were well-written and played a huge part in the MCs gaining trust for their growing relationship. If you’re someone that doesn’t really like spice, but would still like to read the book, you could potentially skim through these scenes, but a couple of them do still hold some important parts that I would recommend reading.

My only complaint was the feeling of immaturity from the two MCs for their age. Both are quite a bit older than I am right now and the FMC has gone through various levels of schooling, think PhD and Biology. The way they talked and behaved reminded me of someone that would have been my age or a little younger. I had to keep reminding myself that they're not my age. Who knows, maybe this was on purpose as trauma and hurt definitely rewires the brain, but it stuck out to me.

Overall, Untouchable was a deep and spicy read. It touched my heart with mental health representation and a journey of healing. And I'm thankful I had the opportunity to ARC read it. If you have no issues with the triggers, give the book a shot and see what you think.

Title: Untouchable: A Second Chance Hockey Romance
Author: @danigalliaro

Rating: 5/5 💜💜💜💜💜
Genre/themes: #sports #romance
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This is my second ARC read of Dani’s work and I am so grateful to be a part of her team once again. Dani’s books not only appeal to the wide world of romance readers, but also include such an array of emotion in her characters and creates such compelling, heartfelt stories which she excels in! Her writing is far beyond the typical trope of hockey player meets cheerleader; digging much deeper into each player’s personality, aspirations, relationships and leadership styles. I am equally impressed by the MFCs that Dani creates, always including strong, assertive, bright personalities and equally inspiring aspirations as the male characters.

Dani handles such a harrowing topic with utter respect, sensitivity and honesty. It is clear that Dani remains focused on the advocacy for Violet’s safety, her survival and the chance to cleanse herself of her past. Dani takes great care in making this known in her writing as you follow Violet’s whole journey of recovery.

🏅Colton: The captain of his hockey team, constantly faced with the pressure and conflicting self analysis in becoming the ‘perfect’, ‘high achieving’ leading athlete, whilst following his father’s footsteps. He takes his role in mentoring and supporting his fellow team mates seriously and with pride, always questioning his personal integrity. He is a hopeless romantic, forever reminiscing about his first love.

🔬Violet: The meticulous and dedicated neuroscience researcher, who is putting the hard yards in finding a cure for cancer, despite her parents’ expectation in her continuing their long running family line of MDs. Violet finds herself constantly running from intimacy and connection and she frustratingly can’t seem to figure out why; her survival instincts take over as her body keeps blocking out a terrifying moment of her past…

Together, Colton and Violet have such harmonious chemistry. I not only loved reading their individual stories but their engagements and dialogue were so thrilling, compelling and meaningful! I particularly love how Dani cleverly challenges every bookish person’s absolute dream, in the possibility of bringing our favourite stories to life, as Colton and Violet decide to start reenacting scenes from the books. Colton also offering to read Violet’s TBR first to inform her whether they are ‘safe reads’ was such a heart warming and generous gesture that I just absolutely swooned over!
This story was an absolute emotional roller coaster and the perfect read for sports romance fanatics, who love found families and second chances.

Happy reading,

Sasha

Trigger Warnings: SA (off page), depression, PTSD, very ‘spicy’ scenes (Dani includes a very extensive, well researched list of support agencies that people can access in theme of this book). It is such a thoughtful and mindful way for Dani to reach out to her audience!

Review
If you want the feel of a YA romance but with smut mixed in, this is your book! And no, I don't see that as a bad thing.

Colt and Violet's story was mega sweet and angsty at the same time. They were college sweethearts that end up split due to something in Violet's past she can't quite get a grip on. Years later, they have a run-in at a mutual friend's wedding and things get steamy🥵. However, that same ghost causes Violet to bail, again. Colton decides this time, he's not giving up and offers to be her friend. Almost 11 years after the original incident, Violet finds herself living in the same town as Colton (and in therapy). She's figured out why her past keeps her from a relationship with Colton and comes clean. However, that doesn't erase the hurt they've caused each other over the past decade...

Untouchable creates a wonderful representation of how past trauma that we block out can still effect our present. How it can cause a strain that you nor anyone in your life can understand. I believe that Dani executed this is the best way possible. Also, how it was handled when it came to intimacy felt real and raw.

As for the spice, 10/10 with a hot scale of 🌶️🌶️ (I read dark romance) and an adventurous twist I haven't come across before. A nice surprise, especially for us book girlies!

For the rest of the story...it felt a little juvenile, but not in a bad way. The characters dialogue and inner thoughts reminded me of when I used to read Jenny Han or Kacey West books. Even though the characters are in their late 20's to early 30's, it seemed like they were written for a younger demographic. If you took the spice out, this would be a perfect angsty YA romance. If a reader is looking for something with more depth, Untouchable would not be at the top of my recommendations.

I still enjoyed it so take that into consideration as well. It just was missing something for me.

I will eternally be bowing down to the queen of second-chance romance and healing because Dani Galliaro simply does not miss. She writes the most consuming, breathtaking stories and I am fully, unapologetically obsessed.

I fell hard for Unbreakable. Then Unthinkable dropped and Jack & Mara made it an infinity-star read that transcended every romance I’ve ever touched. This series is about ADULTS who play hockey and love in the most beautiful, messy, soul-level ways, and it consumed me.

So when book 3 arrived as an ARC...when Dani said she loved writing Colt & Vi’s story and I said nothing can beat Jack and Mara for me...she lowkey called me on my shit.

Because OH. MY. GOD 😍🥵🏒👏

Colt and Vi might be standing right beside them… if not directly beneath them, holding hands and shredding my heart one healing moment at a time 💔

"I'll be yours," she said, while cupping my cheek. "For keepsies."

I was reading every word like I was hanging on by a ribbon (yes, I said it 😏). And then suddenly...tears. Streaming. Down my face as I read the trauma. Because Vi’s story is heartbreaking and unfortunately relatable. Her healing journey cracked something open in me. So many women have lived what she lived or love people who have, and Dani wrote her arc with such powerful tenderness that it felt both important and deeply personal.

And then there’s Colton. One of the sweetest, softest, most patient men alive. A man who held hope for his college love for YEARS. A man who would have helped her through everything if he’d known. After losing her once, he finally learns what happened… and chooses to be a safe place for her healing while confronting his own heartbreak and triggers.

Their romance is stupid sweet.
The spice is top tier 👌
This is literally a booklover’s fever dream where they reenact the spicy scenes in the smut they read together.

I also LOVED the bits we got from Jeanine and Mara, and this is 1000000% my favorite line from Untouchable: "They're all macho men on the ice, and then they can come home and get their guts rearranged by a five-foot-nothing leather mama." 🤣 OKAY MARA 💀
Colton has officially entered my Top 10 book boyfriends, which is wild but also completely deserved.

Dani Galliaro is the blueprint. This series is the standard. And book 3 just changed me a little.

ARC REVIEW

Untouchable was a beautiful story about two people overcoming years of hurt and miscommunication to be together, and holding on to the person you love the most throughout it all. Trigger warning: this story does deal with SA (not by the MMC, obviously).

The first quarter of the book is told through a series of flashbacks, spanning 11 years beginning with their meeting at a college party told from Colton's perspective. It's evident from how he describes Violet and their night together that she's easily spooked but why is not addressed at this point. We only know they have the kind night that you tell your kids about one day, full of instant chemistry, cute banter, and promise.

Flash forward to three years ago and Violet is attending her college best friend's wedding to a friend of Colton's. It's at this point we find out that they didn't stay together, but reasons are vague (given, but flimsy) and this is the first time they've seen each other. The breakup was not an easy one for either of the MCs, but they are inevitably drawn together throughout the wedding events. When they part ways again, Colton is just as devastated as before but has begun to realize there is more to Violet's reasons for bolting.

It isn't until a flashback to one year ago that we find out the true, heartbreaking nature of Violet's reasons for leaving Colton but she becomes determined to work through the issues that led to their breakup in the hopes of maybe being able to be a part of his life again.

It's in the present day that we learn Violet has moved closer to Colton and is ready to reach out. Her gut wrenching confession about her experience tore a hole in my heart and throughout the story (past and present) Colton is tender and gentle with her and her feelings.

This reconnection starts their present rekindling, though bumpy and fraught with miscommunication. Both MCs are trying to be respectful of the others feelings almost to a fault, but it honestly just shows the depth of their love for each other. The way they navigate their feelings, a rocky history, and mental health all while managing PR issues related to Colton's hockey captain position is a brutally honest depiction of how it can feel like the odds are against a couple.

But, as we all know, true love prevails and Colton and Violet's story is a heart-wrenching and beautiful display of that.

I was completely pulled into this story from page one. The dual POV is done so beautifully—each shift in perspective feels intentional, emotional, and clear. The timelines flow seamlessly between past and present, never once leaving me confused or pulled out of the moment. Instead, it deepens the connection to both characters and adds so much emotional weight to their journeys.

This story does include mentions of sexual assault throughout, so please take care of your mental health and skip this one if that’s triggering for you. The way the narrative handles Violet’s experience is compassionate and grounded. As the full truth comes to light, seeing Colt—and others—believe her wholeheartedly added a layer of comfort, validation, and emotional safety that I really appreciated. It’s rare to see such thoughtful handling of trauma and support in romance, and it made a big impact.

Even though the book tackles heavy, heartbreaking moments, it also gives you so much to smile about. There’s plenty of humor, warmth, and genuinely joyful scenes that balance the emotional intensity without ever diminishing it. The author knows exactly when to break your heart and when to stitch it back together.

Colt completely stole my heart. His struggles, the pressure he puts on himself, and the quiet strength he carries made him feel so real. Watching him and Violet find each other, support one another, and slowly heal together was absolutely beautiful—full of tension, tenderness, and moments that made my heart ache in the best way.

Even though this story doesn’t shy away from heavy and heartbreaking moments, the author balances them with so much warmth, humor, and softness that it never feels overwhelming. Those lighter scenes—little bursts of joy, banter, and genuine connection—give you space to breathe while still keeping you fully rooted in the emotional journey. It creates this beautiful blend of intensity and comfort that makes the entire story feel honest, human, and incredibly engaging.

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This series has held my attention since book 1 and I have been patiently waiting for book 3. Dani Galliaro provides wonderful MCs that captivate you with an emotional rollercoaster as they wade through the mess of their past to possibly develop a future together. Untouchable is book 3 in Dani’s Ohio Rusties Hockey series. I cried, laughed, and squealed throughout this story, hanging on every word that Dani wrote.

Colton is a great guy! He is a strong team captain, treats his teammates like family, but still desires more out of his life. He wants his own happily ever after with someone he can love and dote on. He has tried to find the person to create this life with, but has never found someone who makes him feel like he did in college. When she shows back up, he isn’t sure if he should take it as fate giving him a second chance or turn and run the other way.

Violet broke Colton’s heart in college when she broke up with him. Even more, she never gave him the reason why she did. Now they are back in each other’s orbits and she finds herself realizing leaving was a mistake. She fights as Colton tries to be her friend, even though he wants more, and her growing feelings for him. The problem is, the reason she left him all those years ago still exists and she isn’t sure if she can overcome it.

What I love about Dani’s writing is that she keeps readers on their toes. One chapter is heavy and full of raw emotion, then the next is a spicy encounter that has you blushing and your heart racing. Colton and Violet have so much going for them and as Colton discovers the pain behind Violet leaving he has a lot of soul searching to do. He must decide to chase the love he has wanted for his whole life or choose the family who he’s led for years.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

I have never felt so inadequate to discuss a book but I am going to try to do it some level of justice. This book was stunning, emotional, hopeful, healing, gentle, intense, encouraging, strengthening, and hot as heck. It was everything.

Violet is a researcher with a doctorate in neuroscience.

Colton is a professional hockey player and team captain.

They met at university. The dated for a time and then it ended. Painfully. He didn't know why. Really, neither did she. They meet again years later at a wedding. They spend *time* together. Then she leaves. And doesn't speak to him again for years. Then they end up living in the same city. And they start spending time together and *exploring* literature.

Violet is everything. She had something happen she doesn't remember & doesn't know why it is impacting her but she reaches a place where she she is able & safe to reach out for help & start therapy.

Colton is possibly the sweetest, most patient, if he wanted to he would man to ever man. His heart saw Violet and knew they were it for each other. He makes mistakes & missteps along the way but he tries to be a support for Violet and to meet her where she is at. And he listens. And learns.

They are amazing characters separately and together. I thought that both perspectives were handled with care & honesty, even when it was uncomfortable or it maybe wasn't the best look for him.

This book covers (with extreme care, respect & love) some very heavy topics, so make sure to read the cautions.

I absolutely adore Dani's writing. The way she crafts characters & stories connects with my soul and I walk away from her work feeling a little bit more like myself, a little more like my heart has been seen & is safe.

I received this as an ARC and am overwhelemed with gratitude! This had zero impact on my review.

I was honestly not prepared for how much I ended up loving this book. Like… I’m still in shock. This book had everything. 🤌🏼✨

First of all, the bookish references?? The buddy reads, the spice jokes, the trope mentions!? And the way Dani Galliaro just casually normalizes guys reading romance and smut?? I loved that so much. Also the airplane scene?? I swear I was kicking my feet. Boys hyping boys is my new favorite thing. 🔥

And Violet’s trauma... It was handled so gently and beautifully. The way she worked through it with her therapist, but also how Colton supported her without ever taking over, it was honestly so touching. Some parts had me genuinely emotional because it felt so respectfully written. 🥹❤️‍🩹

And okay, the spice. The spice!! It wasn’t more explicit than other books, but it felt so intimate and soft in the best way. And the fact that they acted out scenes from books they’d read together?? I DIED. It was adorable and hot and just… everything. ❤️‍🔥

This book had humor, love, trauma, heartbreak, anger, healing—literally all of it. It felt complete in a way that left me so satisfied. ❣️

The only tiny thing I’d comment on is that the beginning moved a bit too quickly. I would’ve appreciated a little more character development at first. But since it’s the third book in a series (which I haven’t read, by the way), maybe I would’ve felt differently if I had read the previous books. And honestly, once the story settled in, it didn’t matter at all. 🙈✨

Overall? I adored this book. Every single part. 😭
