She came to marry a king. She fell for his best friend.
In a world where immortals rule kingdoms and wield gifts beyond mortal reach, Princess Marta of the Telepaths arrives at the Border Fortress as a bride-to-be in a union meant to secure her realm. Raised for battle while her sister Aurora was groomed to rule, Marta has always known her survive the month, play her part, and become queen consort in the Evergreen Lands.
It is a sensible choice. A safe one.
But the fortress holds more than ceremony—and far more temptation than Marta expected.
Violetta—a rival for the king’s heart from a hostile kingdom—walks the halls as if they already belong to her. King Gabriel remains distant and unreadable. And Rafael, the fortress commandant and the king’s closest friend, is the one presence Marta cannot ignore.
Born an enemy, Rafael is too powerful to be fully reached by Marta’s telepathic gift. His mind never truly opens to her, his words feel like carefully laid traps, and the more she tries to understand him, the deeper her fascination turns into obsession.
As threats gather beyond the fortress walls and ancient rituals tighten their grip, Marta starts to see the immortal court without a place of intrigue and temptation, but also unexpected loyalty, quiet care, and bonds that run deeper than politics. The life she chose so carefully begins to fracture—and desire becomes the most dangerous force of all.
A romantic fantasy of longing, inner resistance, and forbidden attraction, where the hardest choice is not between good and evil—but between what feels safe and what feels true.
Part 1: Obsession begins a ceremonial union tested by desire and secrets. The intrigue continues in Part 2: Obligation, coming soon.
This book is amazing. The world building, character development, and the fact that the books pulls you in. I saw vivid images, felt the longing, the burning, the anguish, and the brilliant happiness. I felt that I was the FMC and felt her emotions as they were my own. Bit of warning though, it leaves on a cliff hanger and I cannot wait for the second book!
