Ryann Upton’s biggest desire has always been becoming a mother. Even as she excels in her chosen career as the personal manager for her famous brother, she knows that she wants more out of her life than just making sure his life runs smoothly. She wants a family of her own one day.
When a routine trip to the doctor leaves her grappling with unexpected news and a life-altering diagnosis, she knows that she has to make some tough decisions if she really wants to see her dream of motherhood come true. And time is her biggest obstacle.
Brixton Cole just watched his ten year relationship crash and burn. He’s blindsided, but not completely shocked. In his world, people come around, but the important ones don’t stay. He’s picking up the pieces of his personal life while he and the other players of The Chicago Bison are picking up the pieces of their team. It’s a season of rebuilding, and Brixton needs somewhere to put his focus.
When he learns about Ryann’s dilemma, he jumps in with a solution without taking the time to really consider the consequences. Now he and Ryann are on a rollercoaster ride toward parenthood for better or for worse.
With hormones, mood swings, emotions, and attraction at play, can the two really keep things platonic like they agreed in the beginning? Or are they headed toward something more?
Oh. My. God! This book was, without a doubt, absolute fire!!! From the synopsis to the very last period of the last sentence in the story, this author cooked, served, and delivered one of the best books that I have ever read. Both Brix and Ryann had gone through some tough times. But after Ryann's recent diagnosis, she is determined to have a baby. After all the drama he went through with his ex, Brix impressed and awed me not only with his willingness to help Ryann achieve her dream of motherhood, but he also put additional measures in place for the benefit of both Ryann and their child.
I totally fell in love with this couple. Brix and Ryann had me laughing, sucking my teeth, and rolling my eyes at their obvious cluelessness, shedding tears of sadness and joy (if you know, then you know), all the while smiling and cheering for every beautiful moment and amazing blessing that they received. This is a book I will never forget, and it's a total must-read. This was the first book I've read by this author. She now has a new fan.
I thought this was a good read. As a black romance, it initially lacked all the feels that you typically get when a couple first meet, date and eventually start to fall for each other. Ryann and Brixton already know each other and decide to enter into a co-parenting situation due to Ryann’s infertility issues. It’s well written, but I would have liked a bit more of a sizzle between the two of them in the beginning or at least talk of them being attracted to each other over the years before entering into their agreement.
I smiled through most of this read. A good man, a strong family dynamic, aaanndd a planned-pregnancy romance? Yessss, I was here for all of that. The support system surrounding the couple was a major bonus and added warmth to the story.
That said, the family became a little too invested. There were unsolicited opinions and think pieces that the couple didn’t ask for, which made them hesitate instead of helping them move forward.
My biggest disappointment was the intimacy. Their first time should have been a detailed, sensual moment because the buildup was there. I was waiting for them to finally give in and make love, but instead their first time happened off-page. By the time intimacy showed up on-page, they’d already been together multiple times, which made the connection feel flat.
The execution didn’t help either. The intimate scenes were poorly written, to the point where I skimmed through them. There was no intimacy at all until after 70%, and then suddenly it was nonstop. The pacing was off, and it took away from what had been a really solid story beforehand.
The first two chapters were kinda heavy and without a trigger warning I didn't know what to prepare for. Thankfully, while there were some heavy topics the overall premise was friendship and family love. Brix went through something that could have really hardened him, but he remained a good and solid man and did Ryann a solid with the ultimate favor.. Ryann took care of everyone else for so long but that was all returned when she needed it most. These two MC's were likeable and made me want to root for them. There was minimal drama, but it did feel like the cadence was off a bit, especially how they went from being like family with just a favor to being super spicy with each other and rolling right into forever. Overall though, this was a quick read that heald my attention from start to finish.
Brix is just coming out out a long term relationship, and Ryann has received some devastating news from her doctor. What started out as a favor for a friend ended up becoming a deeper and significant connection. I loved the way that Brix treated Ryann, and how Ryann got her heart's desire. The inclusion of characters from previous books was a welcome addition. The emotions, compassion, betrayal, and passion were the things that made this book such an enjoyable experience.
Love love love this book. I love Ryann and I love Brix I mean honestly they were perfect. They were in a position to help each other out with something that they both wanted to achieve in life and granted initially they were helping each other as friends, but then they developed into a little more and I love that for them.It was so cute and heartwarming.
Brix and Ryann story was cute, friends to lovers vibes.
This story is part of the Cole/Upton world and I enjoyed learning more about Brix and Ryann and watching them go from friends to lovers. It was a quick ready and the story flowed well. Brix was cool, calm and loving MMC. No drama in this story and we jumped pretty quickly through their budding relationship.
Recommend for sure, especially if you have read any of the Cole/Upton clans books.
I'm so in love with this book, storyline, couple, and family. Brix and Ryann are couple goals.
Brix, getting rid of Adrianna was a Boss move because he made way for the right woman. There is pee in the pool especially the deep end, but if you keep swimming you can find the right one.
Friendship turned to love is one of my favorite niches. I truly enjoyed this story!!!!
This was a pallet cleanser for me and it did what it should have. Brix and Ryann were definitely a cute couple that started in an unconventional way, but it came full circle and I’m glad they both got their desires filled. The ending did feel a bit rushed for me, but this is the authors work. You either like it or you don’t.
I love this beautiful story. I live how the author addresses issues that women go through all the time. It is hard when women go through this. The love the couple found and the healing journey were amazing. Sometimes, it takes that special person to make you know that it will be okay
This is the second book I've read by Tracy Gray and I loved both of them! Imagine having a doctor tell you the worse news that you can imagine only for it to blossom into a beautiful love story and you get all you hopes and dreams along with that love!
This book told a really sweet story about love, family, and friendship. I especially loved following Ryann and Brix's romance. Their unique connection and the family ties just made the whole thing even more charming.
I’m glad Brix made my girl Ryann a happy woman. All she wanted was a baby and he granted her that and so much more. Imma say I didn’t like when Brix pulled back from her. He was doing too much. But I understood he needed to heal from his past relationship.
This is such a cute story. I wish it was longer. Thats why i dont do novellas drag it out for me lol! This i a new to me author but i will definitely be exploring more of her catalog because this was precious. Brix & Ry always. 🫶🏾🥹
This is a beautiful, modern day love story with a real-life feel. The characters are likeable, believable and the love is exactly what the heart of the reader craves.
It was great to see Brix not allow his previous experiences to stop him from being open to love. I loved how Brix was there for Ryann through thick and thin!
I cringed hard when he called her his sister lol. But this had me in tears!!! I love this whole lil family, but Brix?!?! What a man!!! Ryann was such a sweetheart. They both were so deserving. She couldn’t have picked a better father for her baby and partner.
Love this story so much! What started out as a simple favor turned into a lasting love story!! I highly recommend! This is my first book from this author, and I look forward to seeing more
This was a beautifully written story that I found by accident. My gripe is that I wanted more, like an epilogue. This would resolve itself if Brix and Ryann show up in another story. I hope so, because I know there's more. Bravo and well done!
Brix and Ryann were so sweet. Their family ties allowed them to already know each other but the fact that Brix agreed to help her become a mother was beautiful. Them learning each other and falling in love during the process was everything!
I read this story in a couple of hours. Very good storyline and the story flowed well. Highly recommend. It was a conventional love story, but had a nice twist to it.
This was so good, I love how the MMC stepped in to help the MFC with her dream to become a mother. Kudos to the author👏🏾👏🏾. Love the cover. Sex scenes were 🔥🔥🔥and 🌶🌶🌶😉😉
