Hi my name is Moxie St. Henry and I’m so happy you’re here! I am a New England based author who finds my magic late at night to write. During the day I spend my time working with animals, reading different books, and embarking on new adventures. I love my pets deeply and often can be found cuddling them at every opportunity. I have a soft spot for the color sage green, Takis, Dunkin Donuts coffee, and writing stories that help people feel less alone.
Did anyone else live in horror because a friend or older cousin told you the myth of Bloody Mary? I was always freaked out to be in a bathroom with the lights off as a child… but Moxie put a whole new spin on it AND added some spice!
Moxie told me to start with this book, just to get an idea of her writing and I LOVE IT! Plus, it was only 44 pages and I read half of it while waiting for my kids to get out of school - talk about a win win situation! I enjoyed adding to my book count for the year, while also seeing the flow for a new author.
You should read this book if you would like to support an indie author, enjoy retellings, want to explore some taboo tropes, to see if you like Moxie’s writing style… I mean, is there actually a reason to NOT read it?
This was just a little taste of Bea and Bloody Mary, but it was a spicy one! I enjoyed the vibe of the story and it paved the way for an interesting continuation! I’m curious to see what happens for these two!
5⭐️|2🌶️ Releasing 01•01•2026 in Venom: A Sapphic Paranormal Anthology
Beyond honored I was able to ARC read @authormoxie debut Bleed, Bluebird!!! It is a sapphic Bloody Mary reimagining that will have you HOT & on the edge 😏 It’s spooky & spicy, two of my favorite things!
𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞: ↠ Ghost x Human ↠ Blood play ↠ Knife play ↠ Voyerism ↠ Forced proximity
Bleed, Bluebird is a sapphic Bloody Mary retelling that’s equal parts chilling, sensual, and hauntingly beautiful. It will be featured in VENOM: A Sapphic Thirteen Ghosts Retelling (coming January 2026), this story hooked me instantly with its eerie atmosphere.
From the moment Bea and her friends become snowed in at a secluded mansion, the tension starts simmering. What begins as a fun getaway quickly turns sinister when a simple mirror game invites something otherworldly into the room...and when the ghost actually answers Bea’s accidental call? She expects payment. In blood.
This short story delivers: 🩸 Knife & blood play 🪞 Mirror play 🔥 Insta-lust + a touch of enemies-to-lovers vibes 🌈 Sapphic tension
What truly sets this story apart is Moxie's writing — it’s stunningly fluid and effortlessly immersive. Her voice is confident, vivid, and beautifully haunting. I couldnt believe it was her debut. It made me genuinely excited to see what she writes next!
ARC Review Bleed, Bluebird is the exact kind of sapphic paranormal chaos I love. Moxie St. Henry takes the Bloody Mary legend, cracks it open, and turns it into something queer, sensual, and beautifully eerie.
Bea’s snowed-in getaway gone wrong had me gripping my Kindle from page one. The tension builds fast, and once the ghost appears, the whole story becomes this intoxicating mix of fear, desire, and danger. The vibe is dark, intimate, and strangely tender in a way that sticks with you.
The mansion atmosphere is perfection. The slow dread, the mirror moments, the voyeuristic tension, the blood-debt connection between them. Even with all the sharp edges, the emotional depth surprised me in the best way. And the mental health rep woven into Bea’s character? Handled with sensitivity and weight.
This story is queer, haunting, and unapologetically hot. Perfect for fans of sapphic paranormal romance who want their spooky with a side of sensual.
"You'll break for me, Bluebird. But, it will be ravishing."
Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Desperate for an escape, Bea accepts her friend's invite for a weekend away at a mansion (even if it means she gets snowed in). While there, she winds up playing a game of Bloody Mary, only to summon the ghost herself.
I was so excited to see Bea again! I loved her in Fractured Shadows, and this was such a captivating novella. The idea of being snowed-in at a mansion already has a thread of unease woven in- and then there's hints throughout of Mary's presence, and the tension that builds is so good. The way Moxie St. Henry writes Bea & Mary's meeting and the haunting and sensual connection between them will absolutely draw you in, I couldn't wait to see what happened next. (And I have to add - I am such a sucker for a sweet or fitting nickname, and I was swooning over 'Bluebird'!) I am definitely eager to find out how their story continues!
Tropes: 🩸 sapphic romance 🖤 enemies to lovers vibes 🩸 ghost x human 🖤 forced proximity 🩸 knife & blood play 🖤 mirror scenes
[I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, thank you so much Moxie St. Henry !]
Great, short Bloody Mary reimagining. Part of Venom, a sapphic paranormal anthology.
I really enjoyed this short story and can’t wait to read more from the author. I think this was the first Bloody Mary reimagining I’ve read and now I need more. The storyline was interesting and the chemistry between Bea and Mary was great.
“There’s no such thing as ghosts. No one is going to murder you. You just watched a bunch of scary movies and got a little too high” “Bloody Mary at your service” “Tell me, Bluebird… has anyone ever made you come within seconds?” “Trust me, Bluebird. I will make you sing.”
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review. Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book.
Bleed Bluebird was a fun, quick read that puts a fresh sapphic twist on the classic Bloody Mary urban legend. Growing up hearing that story, I loved seeing the author take something so familiar and reimagine it in a new and haunting way.
Writing a compelling story in so few pages is no easy feat, but Moxie St. Henry did a great job creating an engaging atmosphere while still making me care about the characters. The pacing never felt rushed, and the story packed a surprising emotional punch for such a short read.
And that ending! The cliffhanger had me immediately wondering, What happens next? I wasn’t ready for it to be over.
If you’re looking for a fast, eerie read with queer representation and a creative spin on a classic urban legend, Bleed Bluebird is definitely worth picking up.
Moxie St. Henry brought us a reimagining of an Urban Myth that unfurled into something chilling and intimate. Bae, A wound that sings, a paradox of pain and resilience, fueled by blood and grease… Mary, an enigma shrouded in darkness, a whispered fracture in the veil. Bleed, Bluebird is a short sapphic tale that solidifies that love is vicious yet tender and the most haunting force of all. A blood tonic with teeth. A tale where desire becomes defiance and devotion becomes a means of survival. Bleed, Bluebird is easily devourable and just a taste of what Moxie St. Henry has in store for us!
This was such a fun short read, i loved it and I cannot wait to see more of this author!
I haven’t read any Bloody Mary stories and I loved reading something new! The characters and their chemistry were perfection and the writing was so good!
Hot, short, and a beautiful teaser for the upcoming Venom Anthology! For this being Moxie's debut, I will definitely be wanting to read more by her. And I can't wait for the continuation of Bea and Mary's story!
Honestly, one of the best Bloody Mary retellings I've had the chance to read. It was short, it was spicy, and honestly one of the best books I've had the chance to read. I cannot wait to read more from Moxie. I need more from this couple for sure!
i have been into my paranormal era this year so this short read was a no brainer. I mean who wouldn’t want to read about bloody mary who has a split tongue. i mean, the possibilities.
I was so honored to receive an ARC of this Bloody Mary retelling, especially because I love discovering new authors, and Bleed, Bluebird was the perfect introduction to Moxie St. Henry’s writing. Short, spicy, and seriously memorable, this story packs way more punch than I expected in such a small package. Bea’s backstory pulled me in immediately. She’s such a unique and compelling character- unlike anyone I’ve read before- and I was genuinely surprised by how much depth St. Henry gave her in a short story format. It only made me more excited to meet the characters in her future full-length novels. I can’t think of many authors who have taken on the Bloody Mary urban legend and transformed it into something so original, sensual, and darkly cool. Moxie truly made this retelling her own, and it worked beautifully. Moxie St. Henry has huge potential in the bookish community. Her creativity and writing skills make it clear she’s a force to be reckoned with, and Bleed, Bluebird feels like just the beginning. I’m beyond excited to see what she does next!
