Great points and critiques of different aspects of capitalism and it’s eternisation, the role of the ego playing for capitalism and how cultures are distorted. The quote that « it is easier to see the end of the world than the end of capitalism » for sure makes sense considering each aspect of how it tries to sustain itself as a system, despite the many ongoing contradictions and no matter how socially self destructive it is, as an autosuicidal system it aims to subsist itself by changing cultures and norms: capitalism is perceived by most of society as the default « natural » system of humanity, as how people are conditioned to live which leads them into not considering or mostly not believing in a transition towards socialism. Humans that are conditionned to believe the default norms of capitalism are eternalized into the capitalist’s pandora box, that is shaped by their own ego.
My surprise great text of the year. I had become familiar with the authors thought through a talk he had about another one of his books, but that book isvery expensive so I decided to grab this one first and my goodness it’s 100 pages of bars. It’s a necessary intervention and corrective to the proliferation of chaotic thought that’s been preeminent for the last decade and a half. This should replace Fishers Capitalist Realism as the prime text for the stagnation of revolutionary thought in this epoch of capitalism. Just read this text, it’s simultaneously rigorous and digestible. It’s now in my top tier recommendations.
