Wings of Pixie Hollow #2

Wings of Reverie

Rate this book
Centuries after the events of the #1 New York Times bestseller Wings of Starlight, two fairies must battle a dangerous magic—and their growing feelings for each other—in order to save their home in the Winter Woods of Pixie Hollow.

When frost fairy Periwinkle travels too close to the forbidden border where Spring meets the Winter Woods, she unknowingly discovers a thread of a lost magic. And, for the first time, she begins to dream. While Periwinkle’s dreams start sweet, they slowly morph into more disastrous visions of the Pixie Dust Tree—the life source for all of Pixie Hollow—destroyed. Soon Periwinkle is confronted by a sparrow man who knows two one, that Peri has been dreaming, and two, that the Winter Woods is in terrible danger.

The infuriatingly handsome stranger introduces himself as Weaver, claiming to be a dream-talent, the last of his kind. There's a chance he can spin Periwinkle's dreams into dream thread which could protect the Pixie Dust Tree. But to do so, they will have to embark on a quest to find a magic spindle and scissors in the legendary lost fairy workshops of dream-talents past.

Peri begins a reluctant journey with Weaver through the uncharted heart of the Winter Woods. But dreaming is dangerous, and as Peri’s dreams begin to unravel, she will start to question everything she thought she knew. For in Winter even beautiful things can hurt you… and Weaver is no exception.

Return to Pixie Hollow with this exciting new story set in the world of Wings of Starlight several hundred years in the future.

✨Plot✨

Periwinkle is a frost fairy in the winter woods. When she makes a mysterious discovery she suddenly starts dreaming. But fairy's don't dream so how is she? She meets the mysterious Weaver who also dreams and claims to be the last dream weaver fairy. He shows her that the pixie dust tree is beginning to rot and the only way to fix it is to use her good dreams to heal it.

As they go on adventures across the winter woods and grow closer, Periwinkle begins to wonder if Weaver is really as icy as he seems.

✨Characters✨

❄️Periwinkle❄️

I loved how social she is in this story and its like the opposite of Queen Clarion in the first book. She is fun, spunky and hilarious! I really related to being such people pleaser and I hope we get cameos of her in the future books!

🪡Weaver🪡

He was really sweet and I really enjoyed getting to learn about the weaving talent and all the stuff he did! He was kind of broody and annoying at times but what fantasy mmc is not, am I right?

✨Romance✨

So cute and wholesome. I am a bit confused by the ending but don't worry I won't spoil it for you.

✨Writing Style✨

Beautiful! I honestly liked this writing better than the first book! The only reason its not a five star is that it was slow at times. I adored this book though!

✨⚔️Action⚔️✨

I loved all the action towards the end and in the dreams! I was hooked and I'm so thankful for this ARC!

✨Magic System✨

The nightmares and dreams were so cool and Legs was the best pet ever. I was really interested by all the talents and learning more about them and I'm so glad we got to hear more about them!!

✨Would I Recommend It?✨

YES!! If you love Tinkerbell read this! I know some people didn't read Wings Of Starlight because of some content but don't worry this one doesn't have any of that🫶 READ THIS!!!

every second of this book felt magical. stepping back into the world of pixie hollow once again was so much fun!! this is one of my favorite fictional worlds and i loved exploring more of winter! i fell in love with periwinkle and weaver, their banter together was so witty and fun!! overall, the plot had me completely hooked and, unlike wings of starlight, i had no idea how this book would end!! i’m definitely going to go rewatch secret of the wings again (for the millionth time) with an entirely new perspective! i’m so excited for everyone to read this book and hear everyone’s thoughts :)

and lastly, i would like to thank random house/disney for sending me a beautiful arc package of this book!! i will truly keep the box and the goodies forever, even the confetti packaging 🩵

Thoughts
I love this world so much 🥹 I think I enjoyed the plot in this book a tad more than the first book. I was hooked from the getgo, the banter between the characters; overall just witty and fun. You know when you pick up something that you used to love growing up and still find yourself getting lost into it as an adult? That's exactly what these books feel like! Super cute!

Plot Summary
When frost fairy Periwinkle discovers lost magic near the border of the Winter Woods, she begins having strange dreams that predict the destruction of Pixie Hollow’s Pixie Dust Tree. She soon meets Weaver, a mysterious dream-talent who believes her dreams could help save it. Together they set off through the Winter Woods to find a magical spindle and scissors, but as Periwinkle’s dreams become darker she begins to question what she can trust; including Weaver.

This was incredibly charming and cozy.

I came for the marvellous Anna Bright, not for Pixie Hollow, but not being familiar with the lore didn’t take away from how sweet and entertaining this book is.

Basically, I came for Anna, stayed for the magical textiles. A MMC who weaves and designs a dress for the FMC? I mean look, Henry Tilney has always been my favourite Austen man because he knows his muslins, so the loving descriptions of Weaver’s crafting pursuits were always going to by my thing.

Also, for all the wonder and coziness, the endless brunches and frosted tea and dream-thread and opalescent shimmer of it all, Anna does a great job of building and sustaining an underlying hum of suspense.

Unlike most of the YA I pick up these days that feels too hard-edged for the lower end of 12-18, this is determinedly soft and kind. Which also goes for Periwinkle, whose bravery is mainly displayed in her commitment to compassion and believing the best about people. She’s an unashamed girl’s girl and I love that!

(I personally would have loved maybe one more resolution scene with a bit more compensation made towards the whole community after a particular twist, but maybe that’s not on-brand for Pixie Hollow.)

Honestly, I struggled with how to rate this in stars, because I’m not the target audience Pixie Hollow fan to be kicking my feet at the lore and cameos, but I think this book delivered exactly the innocent, magical frosty treat it promised, and I hope Anna gets all the Disney Princess treatment because of it.

Happy book birthday to WINGS OF REVERIE!

Congratulations to the beautiful, sparkly Anna Bright who's got me reading a Disney tie-in novel for the first time ever. But WINGS OF REVERIE is LOVERLY.

Periwinkle is a winter fairy who's suddenly begun dreaming - and not all her dreams are good ones. Something's rotten in the magical world of Pixie Hollow, and the mysterious Weaver seems to hold the answers. To save their world they'll have to embark on a quest for the lost fairy art of dream-magic...but there are nightmares along the way, as well as dreams...

This was a very cosy, sweet book that - unlike a lot of YA - I would quickly recommend to any teen, especially those that like cute animals, pretty dresses, swoony romance, and straightforward friendships. But Anna's not about to give you diabetes. For one thing, there's an epic betrayal late in the book that left even me, a connoisseur of fine backstabbery, gasping. For another, the sweetness and light in this story isn't superficial or facile. Anna's magic, as always, is Deep Magic - numinous, powerful, and always capable of bringing me to tears.

My goddaughters are going to love this one!

I love how whimsical and magical these books are! They’re so nostalgic and remind me of when I was a kid. With that being said they do read a little bit younger which makes sense because the age rating is 12+

There were a lot of things I enjoyed like the whimsical writing style, seeing the winter season in Pixie Hollow, Periwinkle and Weaver’s relationship, and overall being back in Pixie Hollow!!

I hope there’s at least another book coming but I’d happily read 100 books in this world 🧚🏻‍♀️

Periwinkles story was something so unique and fun. Felt nothing like wings of starlight yet still in the same universe. Weavers pov in the special Barnes and noble edition was a welcome change loves learning his story

3.5⭐️

Periwinkle is one of my favourites and i was super excited to read this (even though i haven’t physically or emotionally moved on from Wings of Starlight), but this sadly turned out to be a letdown (i think i’m being generous with my rating too oof).

Wings of Starlight was a full 5-star read without a doubt. Allison’s writing has always been super whimsical, and she captured the essence of the movies so well that it genuinely felt like watching them. however, everything about this book felt forced (Pixie Hollow stories have a very unique magic to them but it wasn’t present in this book), and i kept having to force myself to imagine what was happening too rather than it automatically playing out in my head.

the characters felt flat too (Periwinkle didn’t entirely sound like the character we met in the movies), and Weaver was a contradictory character as well. (also why did he pick Sparkles as her nickname 😭 he is NOT the type of person to be giving people nicknames, but even if he had to… Sparkles? i’d name a moody grey cat Sparkles. why not Twinkle instead? there’s winkle in her name, plus it sounds like Tinker likeee just anything but Sparkles. it sounded so awkward every time he called her that)

Milori sounded off too… Dewey was the only character who felt like himself from the movies (Feat notes detail was funny). but anyways, this whole book gave me the feeling that something big was missing (the Pixie Hollow magic). the actual plot also turned out to be mehh. and i wish her friends had been part of the story… the whole friend group is so cool and cute, and they were the only other people who could’ve provided some anchor, but they were absent from the story.

i am so saddddddddd (but it was cute ig)

(anyways Disney, if you need author recommendations for future Pixie Hollow books: Olivia Atwater, Adalyn Grace, Stephanie Garber, and Heather Fawcett are some of many)

I wanted to like this

I was so excited for this books release after I ADORED Wings of Starlight and ranked it in my top 3 fav books of 2025. Wings of Reverie felt like a dumbed down version of pixie hollow books filled with tropes and full of loose ends. Periwinkle in the film (Secret of the Wings) has such a unique personality that I felt was not articulated in this book at all. She felt poorly written and it was incredibly disappointing. Weaver, the MMC is every morally grey, grumpy sunshine trope man mixed into one. It’s been overdone and it’s boring. I also really disliked the “twist” at the end. It was all incredibly predictable. I would have really enjoyed more info on the dream talents, why they were lost and why they were suddenly returning! This book had a lot of promise and just lacked the depth to really deliver anything of substance.

OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS ANNA BRIGHT YOU ARE MY HERO 🥹

I was getting so scared that it was gonna be a tragedy in the end like Wings of Starlight, and I seriously had NO idea how it would end. but that ending was so beautiful and perfect 🥹 I did cry but it was happy tears this time (still not over Wings of Starlight btw)

I also think it's so fitting that for these two pixie hollow books, the one that ends on a note of hope, forgiveness and a willingness to trust again is the one written by a Christian ❤️‍🩹 this book certainly isn't a sermon and it's Pixie Hollow so there's no religions or anything 😂 but so many of the themes and parts of both Periwinkle and Weaver's character arcs (not being so self-focused, being vulnerable, choosing to believe that there can be good and that you can have hope even in the midst of so much pain and evil) can be tied back to the Bible and I absolutely loved that

also can we PLEASE take a minute for a Weaver appreciation post 🥺 i didn't think i would like him just as much as I loved Milori but he's absolutely on par with him. HE LITERALLY MADE HER A DRESS ALL BY HIMSELF 💞 AND THEN TOLD HER THAT SHE'S BE THE PRETTIEST FAIRY IN PIXIE HOLLOW EVEN IF SHE WENT DRESSED AS AN ACORN 🥹
(also i'm so happy the B&N exclusive version has chapter 16 in Weaver's POV bc i NEEDED THAT)
after everything got revealed i absolutely thought there was no coming back for him (again, traumatized by wings of starlight) but i'm so happy i was wrong...... lowk still don't like Dougal tho

absolute 5+ star read and would recommend to anyone and everyone whose childhood involved the pixie hollow/tinker bell movies because this is just so nostalgic to read after graduating high school

How does this have such a high rating? Did we not read the same book??

The contents of this book happen after the Wings of Starlight novel but before the Secret of the Wings movie. While Wings of Starlight contained the same whimsy as the original Pixie Hollow books/movies, Wings of Reverie just did not. Wings of Starlight also had far better writing despite the intended audience and far better written characters with more depth and personality. The characters in Wings of Reverie felt like shells of who they were supposed to be, had flat personalities, and cringey characteristics that did not fit with the universe of PH. The story had so much potential but was not fulfilling at all. You can rewrite chapters 22 onwards and make a far better book. The ending was just atrocious.

What made Wings of Starlight a far better book in the romance aspect is that Disney had already explored the relationship between its main characters in the movies whereas in Wings of Reverie, the romance is completely new and forced. I know I was not the intended audience for this book but considering who their target audience is, I am not so sure that the message they are delivering with the relationship between Weaver and Periwinkle is a good example for middle grade to young teenagers.

The cute little weaver spider was the best part of this book. I want a cute little spider living in my pockets coming out at night to steal my nightmares making them into little spools of thread. 🕷️

In a nutshell, this was a badly-written YA romantasy story which happened to use the Disney PH fairies as inspiration for the story which is a shame as it is considered canon.

I can’t believe I forced myself to read this through to the end…a YA romantasy at that…(·•᷄‎ࡇ•᷅ )

I need a palette cleanser.

Me 2/3 of the way through the book: what a cozy read, how fun to read more about Disney fairies. Cute stuff.

That last third: OW who hit me with a CROWBAR and then BRINGING BEAUTY FROM ASHES and my FEELINGS! These fairies are my KIDS I LOVE THEM I am TEARING UP!!!!

In conclusion, absolutely enchanting, the author pulls out the stops to give such a wonderfully cathartic and beautiful ending to the book. What’s lost CAN be found! Delightful.
