After years of running away from the past, Shaun Brannon returns to Serendipity, his home town. He’s finally ready to come face to face with the demons he’d left behind. With Kelsey O'Neil reminding him to breathe, the future no longer seems as scary.
But are the people he hurt ready to forgive him for what he robbed them of? Can he finally let go and start a new life with Kelsey? Or will the challenges he’s about to face hinder him from moving on?
Dori Lavelle is a mother, wife, and sucker for happy ever afters and mint chocolate. Hand her a great romance novel and a mug of hot chocolate and she'd be one happy woman.
This is the last book in the Learning to Live Again series. It is a very touching emotional read that I have been waiting a long time to read. Dori has given us a wonderful series with so much pain and passion you have to be prepared to share a few tears. I thought my heart would stop at one point and my mouth hung open. I had to push my chin up to close my mouth. Dori has a way of getting your attention as she puts some amazing twists on her stories.
Shaun has finally decided to face his past, go back home and start again. There are mean demons he must face before he can truly move on to a new life and a new love. He and Kelsey have had to overcome many issues and still have a few things they must work through. Shaun has hurt so many people with the choice he made, he has paid his price but will he have to pay for the rest of his life or will he find the peace he needs to start a new life with Kelsey?
Kelsey is a wonderful story lady who has overcome many issues herself. She is standing by the man she loves no matter what. Kelsey has so much passion for life, people, she is so caring and giving. Just an all-round wonderful person, I do love a strong women character that gives more of herself than she takes.
Dori writing is outstanding as she pulls your emotional strings. She puts so much into each of her books as she gives you a few twists and turns that makes each of her books a page turner. At one point I was ready to string Dori up and thought to myself what were you thinking it cannot end this way. I can’t tell anymore or it would give the story away. I can promise you that Dori gives you a compelling story that will leave you close to tears.
I know when I pick up one of Dori’s book it will be a story that pulls me in, breaks my heart and gives me something to smile about. If you haven’t read anything by her you might want to pick up this series.
To Breathe Again is the final book in the Learning to Live Again Series by Dori Lavelle. I anxiously waited for this book to see what happens when Shaun returns home to Serendipity to face his demons he left behind.
This book picks up with Shaun surprising his mother (Rachel) and brothers (Cole, Garrett and Dustin) with his homecoming. No spoilers will be given as this book is too good and needs to be read to find out what happens when Shaun meets Carmen's parents.
Let me tell you Dori knows how to pull your emotional strings as you will need a tissue box near by. At one point all I could say is No!! No!! No!! This can't be happening and kept reading to see what else Dori was going to throw at me. I was so afraid that this would not end on a happy note, so you will have to read it to find out whether it does or does not.
Dori writes with such emotion and draws me to each character. I look forward to seeing more of the Brannon brothers and what each of them will get into.
This series is a must read and I would highly recommend it for anyone who loves a sexy story with a lot of twists and turns.
Wow!!! That is really all I have to say about the conclusion of Shaun and Kelsey’s journey. And I thought the saga could not get any more emotional than book two of this series. Well, I was wrong! To Breathe Again is an engaging novella that held my interest throughout…so much so that I had to read the book in one sitting. Luckily for me the box of Kleenex was nearby when I began the read.
The depth of character of Shaun really struck a chord with me. He has been through so much. And yet his woman Kelsey stands by him. That certainly says a lot about Kelsey (and yes….she has been through a tremendous amount as well). Before Shaun can move on with Kelsey he must set things right in his hometown of Serendipity. So they travel from Ireland to Serendipity where Shaun feels he must apologize once again for his past to the parents of his deceased wife, Carmen. Things don’t go well, to say the least. But through it all Kelsey stands by her man.
Shaun’s family is amazing, supportive and just plain grateful to have Shaun back in their lives. The boys (as I like to refer to Shaun’s hunky brothers), do some pretty amazing things for Shaun and Kelsey….you will just have to read the book to find out :)
I liked that Melisa could provide so much needed support and advice to Kelsey when fitting in with the local community seemed all but impossible. Especially since Kelsey’s best mate (Maeve) is back in Ireland so she is totally alone and devoid of female friendships in Serendipity.
There are moments of pure joy and total devastation in this book. Taking you from high, to low, to high again. What a wonderfully heart felt roller coaster of a ride.
Ms. Lavelle, you have truly done it again! Producing an ending to Shaun and Kelsey’s story that was both captivating, gripping, gut wrenching in addition to smile producing. And let us not forget, hot as well! And we got to connect with some residents of Serendipity (Heat and Melisa to name a couple), for those of us that have the wonderful experience of reading Ms. Lavelle’s Moments in Time series.
My advice…run….do not walk to your computer and order the WHOLE series and get reading. :) You will not be sorry (if romance is your thing of course).

“Strength is something you develop when you need it. Things happen in life, tough situations that change you and give you no choice but to be strong…”
The time has finally come. The final book of Shaun and Kelsey’s remarkable love story reaches its end.
I’m so satisfied with how their story ended. Kelsey’s character was wow… just amazing. She really became a much stronger woman and didn’t have any doubts about Shaun no more. I loved how supportive and understanding she was about Shaun’s past. Like when he tried to fix things with Carmen’s parents and the people in Serendipity, Kelsey was always right by his side whenever he needed her. It was really sweet and nice to read. I felt like their relationship really became much stronger now and I’m really happy for the both of them.
I really enjoyed reading this series. There were a lot of twist and at some point I thought that maybe this would end differently, but that’s all I can say without spoiling you guys. Before reading, I knew I was going to love this book no matter what. Dori never disappoints me. She writes beautiful love stories and I can’t wait to read more of her books.
I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves to read a love story about a man with a dark past and a woman who tries to help him heal… change.
To Breathe Again by Dori Lavelle is the final book in her Learning To Live Again series. It is an amazing conclusion packed with emotion and drama and heart-stopping moments.
We left Kelsey and Shaun with her kidney issues and his life-saving offer. They have realized that they are head over heels for each other and Shaun is taking a big step in his life and going back home to Serendipity to face his demons. With Kelsey by his side he hopes he can be strong enough.
The small town of Serendipity is not as forgiving as they could or should be. As a reader this was infuriating. The ignorance of the members of this community had me seething in defense of Shaun and Kelsey.
A very dramatic read with a heart-stopping moment (or two) that also gives us a glimpse of some of our past friends from Serendipity (Melisa and Heat) and introduction to some new people. I'm excited to see what is next from this author's mighty pen.
Join Shaun and Kelsey's amazing conclusion to their journey in the last book of the Learning to Live Again Series. This book was emotion packed. Shaun has finally decided to return home. He faces many obstacles but these help him leave his past behind ad move on with his life. Kelsey vows to stand by his side. She does see how some people in Shaun's hometown treat him and his family.
I don't want to give the story away be prepared for heart wrenching moments, sadness as Shaun closes a chapter of his life and happiness as he starts another. No only do we see Shaun's emotion but Kelsey and Shaun's family and friends. Dori throws a heart stopping twist in at the end. I love all of the emotion that Dori puts into her stories. She makes you connect with the characters. This is a great finale to an awesome series.
I was given a gift copy in exchange for an honest review.
I put off reading this one for a minute. I really did not want Shaun and Kelsey's story to end. That being said I am so glad I made myself finish the series. I really hope to see more of them. They both have struggles to overcome, and it seems every-time things start to go in the right direction disaster seems to find them. Through out the story I was captivated. Turning each page as fast as I could to see how their story played out. If you have read Dori's Moment in Time Series you will notice some familiar faces once they journey back to Shaun's hometown, and I was delighted to see that. I did have an ugly cry moment.. But it was so worth it! I found myself wondering if they could make it past all their obstacles and find the happiness they deserve? Or will it be too much for them to handle? I would love to tell you but you will have to read it to find out!
I loved this series and I hate to see it end. The story of Shaun and Kelsey gets better with each book. Dori Lavelle is an awesome author who gets you hooked and you don't want to stop reading until the end. There are a lot of twists and turns and tugging at your heart strings. This story and this series is a must read!
Awesome, I love Dori's books. She never disappoints me. I love Shaun and Kelsey's story. I can't wait to read about Dustin. I hope she will write Ben's story one day.
Dori has done it again! This book nearly gave me a heart attack. It's full of love and angst. Kelsey and Shaun's journey comes to an end as the two and everyone around them learn to breathe again.
The conclusion to the Learning to Live Again Series will also take your emotions on a roller coaster ride. Kelsey and Shaun are ready to face their fears and their past traumas in order to move forward. I do suggest you read this series in order and have read both Books 1 and 2 before you go on this emotional ride.
This third book does not just finish the series, it has a strong storyline of its own. You may not see the ending coming.
An enjoyable series from beginning to end, with adorable characters you easily connect with. The author’s creativity pulls you on-board, allowing you to share the emotional journey of two souls as they try to overcome their pasts, search for forgiveness and discover how to live and love for the future.
