About the author

Margaret Edith Weis is an American fantasy and science fiction author of dozens of novels and short stories. At TSR, Inc., she teamed with Tracy Hickman to create the Dragonlance role-playing game (RPG) world. She is founding CEO and owner of Sovereign Press, Inc and Margaret Weis Productions, licensing several popular television and movie franchises to make RPG series in addition to their own.
In 1999, Pyramid magazine named Weis one of The Millennium's Most Influential Persons, saying she and Hickman are "basically responsible for the entire gaming fiction genre". In 2002, she was inducted into the Origins Hall of Fame in part for Dragonlance.

I enjoyed this book immensely. Having only read Dragons of Autumn Twilight, my knowledge of Dragonlance is limited outside of D&D sourcebooks and I can say that lack of knowledge did not hurt my experience with War Wizard at all. This book reminded me of what it felt like to read Fantasy as a teenager. Magical and mysterious, the story follows Magius and Huma in a classic coming-of-age story that is filled with heart. It feels timeless and classic, which is so refreshing in a genre that is currently overrun with “romantasy”. The fact that it is an incredibly easy read is all the better, reminding me of what it was like to truly relax while an amazing story unfolds before me. This book very much reads like a set up for what is to come, which may put some people off, though I never felt like it was slow. It’s short length helps the pace, in fact, though those looking for nonstop action like that found in the Drizzt novels won’t find it here. Very different books, enjoyable in very different ways. I’ll definitely be diving into the original trilogy in its entirety after this, while I impatiently wait for Book 2.

Another excellent Dragonlance installment! Weis & Hickman definitely know how to spin a great tale and leave the reader gasping for more, at the end. Can't wait for the next book, so that it can be devoured, as well.

I loved this! It was a reminder of the original trilogy. Well done! No one will ever top Raistlin, but Magius is close! Look forward to another book!

War Wizard

Always a fan of fantasy books by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman. An enjoyable read of adventure and magic. Awesome!
