(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Casey Peeler, The Hype PR, and NetGalley.)

I thought this book was going to be a cute romance, but for me it was anything but perfect.

I got bored from this book pretty much from the beginning. I felt sorry for Reagan seeing as everyone kept dying on her, but I didn’t really like her, and I didn’t really care about what happened to her.

The storyline in this just bored me. I didn’t like the story, I didn’t like the romance, I didn’t really like the characters, and I really just wanted this to be over. People kissed, I was bored. There were accidents, I was bored. People died, I was bored.

This was probably just a case of wrong-person - wrong book, but I really didn’t enjoy this one.

Read on the WondrousBooks blog.

Actual rating 1.5.

It's obvious from the start that this book is inspired by personal feelings and the most touching thing about it is the author's note after the end of the book.
The best thing in the entire book is Raegan's relationship with her grandfather. It's really touching and sweet and I felt really sad about the old man, and about the fact that Raegan has a really bad luck when it comes to family.

This is where the good things about this book end.

Welcome to The Vampire Diaries, as written by Nicholas Sparks. Without the vampires. And the diaries. But with one Elena Gilbert Raegan, who lost all of her family, but nevertheless, she is a perfect little snowflake, she is super smart, head cheerleader, popular, kind, nice, sweet, sexy, long dark hair, long tanned legs, wanted by everyone, especially by Matt Jace Wayland the quarterback. But then a blond hot guy  called Stefan Emmett Cullen comes to town and turns her world upside down and they fall in love and blah--blah-blah.

1. The writing: Lacking creativity and originality, highly repetitive. The characters speak in the Southern twang and it's unbelievably annoying. You realize that speaking in a dialect of any sort is not congratulatory, right? I know that many people cannot help themselves, but is it necessary to use the same language in literature?

Also:
- use of "pawpaw" and "mawmaw"
- Oh Gosh! x 13 in the last 10 chapters(and by chapter you can have lengths varying between half a page and 7 pages)
- Ohmygosh! x 9 in the same interval

AND MOST IMPORTANT:

"When Grandaddy buckles me in, he gives me a quick kiss on the top of my head. "I love you, Grandaddy."

"I love you too, Sunshine. We're gonna get through this - me and you." I nod with a smile."

WHO WRITES LIKE THIS? When I first read it, I was under the impression that the grandfather, after kissing the top of her head, tells her "I love you, Grandaddy.", which is highly strange. After reading a couple of hundred of books in my life, I was under the impression that you either mention who's speaking, or you attribute the words to the last person who does something, his words an extension of sorts of his actions. Never have I ever read a book which confused me so much as to who is speaking. This is only one instance that I took notes of because in two consecutive sentences you can be confused about the speaker. But Peeler does this non-stop. Like, "They walk in. "Hey!" Who's "hey"-ing whom? What???

2. Romance: or the lack of it. No matter how traumatized a child you are, you cannot fall in love at the age of 5 and stay in love until you are in your mid- or late teens.

Not to mention that the night after their first date, "Em"(barf right here) "feels her[Raegan's] pain in his soul". If you say so. Spell me b-u-l-l-s-h-i-t. Especially considering that most of the time he is only thinking about how hot she is and trying really hard not to get a boner.

3. Raegan: INTOLERABLE. Everyone is in love with her - boys, girls, old ladies, Sparky the dog and even the chickens in the farm. The only SAT words that the author knows are used to make Raegan appear super special and lovely and beautiful, and yeah, we went through this already, but come on, she is just so good, and nice, and kind, and sweet, and caring, always has a moment for everyone, no matter how popular or unpopular they are at school. Not to mention that one time she saved that village in Cambodia from starvation. Oh, wait. That didn't happen. Just like there is never any prove of anything, aside from the fact that she REALLY, I mean, REALLY puts her "Grandaddy" before everyone. She is described as incredibly smart, although there is not one instance where she appears more than ordinarily smart in any way. And not to mention that when she's not worried about her grandfather, she is mostly super in love and/or horny, and has long inner monologues on how much she wants Emmett to be sitting between her legs.

And, of course, bad things just keep on happening to her, because... well... well... you need like to pity her and stuff and she has to be like a super victim and whatnot.

"Southern Perfection" was really really cute! <3 And to be honest I wasn't expecting it to be good or even nice, because it has very mixed rating and the synopsis hasn't convinced me. What attracted me in the first place were the title and the cover.

This book was a very fast and enjoyable read and I was so happy and warm inside while I was reading it. And even if it has some sad moments too, is very beautiful and emotional. I wouldn't have thought that such a book, from which I was expecting nothing, would make me feel so many things in such a short period of time. Plus the writing style is colourful and full of emotions and feelings and everything that happens gets you somehow, even if in that moment you don't realize.

Raegan and Emmett were very cute, both together and as individuals, and I was so happy to hear their story and see it developing. I liked that everything happened slowly and not rushed, and especially because Emmett was very mannered and careful; he didn't try to get in her panties. He wanted to know her, to be with her and just to talk, to laugh and to feel good. And I really enjoyed their moments together.

I would recommend this to everyone who loves a good story, romance or not, because it is also about friendship and family. And is well written and you'll read it so fast, like you'll like a cold and sweet drink in a hot summer day. It's really worth it!

Review:

Southern Perfection was an okay read for me. The story is a good one, but it didn't made me as excited as other books I've recently read.

The book starts with Raegan when she's a little girl. We get to see her early story, how she lost her parents and grandmother and was left with his caring grandfather. Now she's the perfect southern girl: she works hard every morning, doesn't date because she does not have time for it and every boy wants to be with her. Until Emmett gets back in town. The only boy that made her feel anything.

This book had a lot of potential from my point of view. There was definitely attraction and chemistry between the two main characters, but everything seemed to go way too fast for my liking. Moreover, since I didn't get the connection at the beginning between the two main characters, like their "before-story", it felt kind of impossible to feel so strongly for someone who you have just reunite again recently. I mean, she knew the boy from when they were little, maybe he has changed? or not. But To me, it felt just weird.

Don't get me wrong, I think that Emmett was a sweetheart and was the perfect definition of a southern book boyfriend, but at some point it was definitely too much drama, too much angst. And I blame it a little on Raeagan. I get that she has had a difficult life, losing almost her entire family and having to work so hard, and I get that she's worried about her grandfather, but I didn't understand why she was so apprehensive in dating. If she was with the right guy, he would understand that she cared for her grandfather and she needed to spend time with him. I don't see the whole point of making it a relationship problem.

Overall, the plot was a bit flat. I didn't get excited at all during the whole reading process. I was like, okay maybe now comes the good stuff. Aside from the ending, that's what brings all the emotional part to the story, the rest was all the same, all the time. I think the one character that always brought a smile and kept the story from sounding every single time the same, was Raeagan's grandfather. He was definitely something different and had his funny moments.

The romance in it was definitely sweet and a bit overwhelming. If the drama in the story was more focused in other problems that to me were more realistic I would have totally loved this book.

Actual rating - 2.5

Raegan was an okay character, and I felt sorry for her because of all what she lost, but I didn't love her.
The romance wasn't bad, but as I didn't love either of the characters involved, I didn't love that either.

Unfortunately, for the most of this I felt bored, and by the halfway point, I wanted to hurry up and finish it.

Overall, Not an awful read, but it wasn't that enjoyable either.

"Raegan Lowery is who every guy dreams about but can't have..."

Let me say, it has taken me a while to write this review. Not because I didn't like the story--on the contrary--I'm in awe of it!

This book hit so many of my soft spots: First love, rekindled love (of sorts), strong lead charcters, overcoming grief, and most of all...a family worth fighting for.

"Emmett saved me with one compassionate event."

I immediately fell in love Raegan and her Grandaddy, Dover. After tragedy had struck her family when she was only five years old, her grandfather was all she had. Their bond is beautiful. It's the kind of family dynamic anyone would love to have.
But what happens when you find out your number one person isn't doing as well as you think?

They run a family farm, and with the help of her cousin, Cole, and few extra hands, they make a good living. Every day runs like clockwork--same 'ol, same 'ol. Until the day that an old friend comes back to town. The same friend that never left Raegan's thoughts...Emmett.

"I stake my claim on the only girl I've ever cared anything about, the girl that meets me in my dreams, and when my lips touch hers, I feel peace within my soul."

I promise this is not a typical teenage love story. Yes, there are lovey dovey parts and first time experiences, but this story has more, much more. You have a story about friendship, and who is really by your side when you need them most. A story about brotherhood that shows how strong you have to be when things get rough. But mostly, a story of family. Blood or not, this family has went through so much, and to watch them continue to fight through hard times is amazing.

I enjoyed this book more than I could possibly write down. Believe me, I could have said more!! :)
I smiled, laughed, swooned, and cried (Oh! I cried a lot), but it was worth it!
This book was Perfection to me!

"I begin to smile inside, because as another mountain in my life is created, and angel has appeared to guide me though."

If there is one book that I have ever connected with, this is that book. I loved this book beyond belief. Casey Peeler takes tragedy for one girl and turns it into one beautiful love story. But it isn’t just a love story. It is a story of becoming the person you want to be and need to be and finding what truly makes you happy.

Raegan met the man of her dreams when she was just a young girl. She didn’t know it then, but when she lost her parents and grandmother in a tragic accident, he brought her the one thing she needed to comfort her and get her through it. Now Emmett has returned to town and though they are older, so much has changed for both of them.

Raegan is the untouchable girl that every guy wants, but she has no interest in. Her life has been a devotion to her grandfather. They are all they have left in this world and she clings to him and tells him everything. He knows everything about his sweet Raegan and she has done everything in her life to make things great and to not be a bother to him.

But now that Emmett is back, something has shifted. She actually has a connection with him that she has never had with another guy. He wants to be her everything and she wants that too, but no matter what, her granddaddy is her number one. Things are not easy and the relationship is not perfect. But now Raegan has two main men and along with her cousin, she knows that her life will never need for more.

Faced with the reality that her granddaddy is not doing well, Raegan is struggling through trying to stay strong and not let her granddaddy become the talk of the small town. It’s their secret, she will not share it with anyone, even Emmett.

This book is powerful and beautiful. It is heartbreaking and heartwarming. It touched a place deep down and I just couldn’t let go. I love this story, I love the words and I think Casey Peeler has written a phenomenal book! I not only highly recommend this book, but it is going on my must reads!

Southern Girls. You know you love us. We say "honey", call all soft drinks "cokes" and drive trucks. It just doesn't get any better.

Reagan lives with her grandfather on his farm. Her parents died when she was little and she has made it her goal to be the "good girl" everyone expects. She is a cheerleader, makes good grades and has to fight of the jerk quarterback. The only man in her life is her granddad.

I love you too Sunshine. We're gonna get through this---you and me.

Emmett is the boy who nice to her when her parents died. He is moving back to town and wants to get to know the grown up Reagan.

Just when she and Emmett reconnect, Reagan finds herself in another family crisis. Her cousin, Cole has been the only other person she could count on. Can she let Emmett in? Does she has room in her perfect life for so much indecision? Emmett is respectful and caring. He wants Reagan to rely on him but he knows he needs to prove he is worthy of her trust.

This was a great YA read. The characters are true to themselves and show how families can stick together through some really hard times. Reagan sticks to her moral code while also being a real teenager. She isn't the perfect girl everyone thinks she is....but who is?

Southern Perfection is a story of loss, healing and old love and finding new love. Be ready with LOTS of tissues because you are going to need them. I like Raegan was very close to my grandpa, and when he passed my world shattered around me. Reading Raegan's heartbreak brought back all those emotions about my own grandpa.

Southern Perfecting is a heartwarming, yet heartbreaking story that will grasp onto your heart.

[Disclaimer: e-ARC received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.]

Unfortunately this story just really didn't work for me. I found the story to be completely over the top in almost every aspect. Reagan is just the most perfect girl to the point where every time Emmett is with her in town random people feel the need to tell him how amazing she is. We also have to here from basically any person who meets the pair of them that they can tell that 'Emmett' has it bad. People like Cole and Reagan's grandfather are also constantly talking about their romance as if it is this fated, meant to be romance and it just felt very over the top.

I also struggled with the writing. I found it very difficult at times to determine who was speaking at times and the character's overused each others names in conversations constantly. The characters would constantly start a sentence with the other characters name despite being mid-conversation, it just felt very strange.

I also really didn't like almost every character's insinuation that Cole is in love with Reagan and not thinking that that is weird or inappropriate, despite the fact that he is her cousin and he is 25 to her 17. Even her grandfather feels the need to assure Emmett that nothing is going on between Reagan and Cole.

While I found the part of the plot surrounding Reagan's grandfather's illness very sad, I really didn't understand Reagan's decision to not tell either Emmett or her best friend about the illness, especially once her grandfather himself has told Reagan she should confide in them.

Unfortunately I really didn't enjoy this story, but it has a lot of really positive ratings and reviews so there are definitely a lot of people out there who would recommend picking this up.

Raegan knows what's important in life, and she's holding onto it with all she's got. She doesn't have time for typical teenage drama, dating, or making the same mistakes others her age are making. She's has to make her grandfather proud, show the town that despite losing her parents, she's going to be just fine, and pitch in at home so her grandfather isn't stuck with all the chores. She may not be perfect, but she's trying hard to get there.

What she wasn't counting on, though, was Emmett. Friends as children, she hasn't seen him in years, but now he's back and proving to be everything she needs. She's spent the last few years keeping her grades up, cheering for the football team, and becoming the ideal All American girl. But this boy she didn't expect is becoming more important than she could have imagined.

The Verdict: Raegan's had no shortage of tragedy in her life, but instead of going the predictable route — rebelling, acting out, making everyone around her miserable — she's done everything she can to be the perfect granddaughter, student, and All American girl. Raised by her grandfather, her entire life revolves around taking care of him and making him proud After all, she'd have nothing if it weren't for that soft-hearted old man.

What Raegan doesn't do is date. She's become that untouchable girl, friends with everyone but off the menu when it comes to high school romance, and that makes her a little more noticeable in the eyes of some of the guys around school. It's not that she has no interest in romance or a social life, but she feels she owes it to her grandfather to do her best, be her best for him. And high school boys and the drama they bring simply don't fit into the equation. When it comes to her emotions, she's only got enough for the man who raised her.

But then Emmett, a boy she knew as a child and who reached out to her when she was a lost little girl having just been orphaned, comes back to town and turns her head. He's not thrown by the fact that she “doesn't have time” for dating and isn't put off by the fact that she's more devoted to her grandfather than to herself. It takes some time, but he smoothly establishes himself as a mainstay in her life, respects her determination to be the best teenager possible, and is there for her as a friend when she needs one. Their connection goes way back, though, and soon it grows into something deeper, a puppy love turned first love that's as simple as it is sweet.

There's a juvenile quality to the story that's actually very appropriate. It's not that the writing is immature, but rather that the characters' behaviors are very genuine for that age. While there's a tendency in YA and NA books for adult writers to make the characters' minds so much more mature than any teenager has ever been, Raegan and Emmett felt more authentic. Sure, it's strange for a girl Raegan's age to pretty much never misbehave, but it's clear that she's clinging to the only family she has left, applying the logic of a lost child to the way she approaches life, and isn't that the very definition of childhood issues?

If you're looking for just another teen romance story, Southern Perfection is certainly not it. It's small-town life and high school love, recovering from loss and relying on family. It's teens who are still growing their way through life's issues and managing to hold onto one another in the process. There's an innocence in them that you usually don't find anymore in this genre, making it a great read for both teens and those of us who remember what it was like once upon a time.

What an absolutely amazing book!! I loved it and from the very first page I was hooked. Once I started reading I did not want to put it down. Life for Raegan gets flipped upside from the age of 5. Visiting her grandparents is something she loved but after she loses her parents and her grandmother in an accident she knows this visit will be more than just that....it will now be her home. Her grandfather Dover is her world, her everything. Never wanting to let him down she is the happy good girl everyone loves and admires. She has no time for boys, her grandad is the only man she needs in her life........that is until Emmett Bridges comes back to town. The boy who unknowingly changed her life when her parents died with such a small gesture. Will she let him into her heart? When her world begins to crumble will she push him away or will Emmett prove no matter how hard she tries to push him, he isn't going anywhere?

I loved the relationship between Regan and her grandfather, I can relate to how she feels only for me it was my grandmother. She was my whole world and I was hers. I loved spending time with her. Being with her was the best feeling in the whole world. I spent every summer with her growing up along with alot of my cousins and if you ask anyone in my family what their greatest childhood memory was they will tell you it was being with her and spending time at her house. My grandma got diagnosed with cancer when I young, I remember being told she only had 6 months to live several times but she was the strongest and bravest woman I know and she always beat it. She got cancer in her legs....she beat it. She got it in her stomach....she beat it. She got a brain anurism and had to have major surgery....she beat it but finally she was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphomia. She fought as hard as she could, she held on as long as possible but Christmas 2002 would be the last holiday holiday I would get to spend with her because in January we got the call that the end was near. I remember sitting by her side for those last few days just talking to her. Could she hear me? I don't know but I believe she could. It's been 13 years since she passed and I still miss her everyday. She was and still is my sunshine!!

This is such a beautiful and emotional book. You will laugh and you will cry. You will feel everything the characters feel and you will fall in love with them. I loved getting both Emmett and Raegan's POV. I love getting in their heads and seeing how each one truly feels and what they are thinking.

This is the first book of Casey Peeler's I have read but it will not be my last!! The past weekend I got to meet Casey at the #RAI2016 (Roanoke Author Invasion) and I purchased this book from her and I am so glad I did. Casey is now def one of my fav new authors and I can't wait for #RAI2017 so I can go totally fan girl crazy over her and purchase more of her books!! I read this in a day! As I sit and write this review tomorrow (sept 9) will be 12 years since I lost my grandmother who lived with me from the time I was born til a month before she passed away. It's also 18 months since I lost my great grandmother who I lived with the past 8 years. This book really hit home because both of these women remind me so much of Reagan's granddaddy! The difference is I don't have a man, my parents are both alive, even though they are divorced, and I'm not in the south(other than southern ohio! Lol). My grandmother that passed away 12 years ago died of a bad heart, my great grandmother died of her heart but due to complications of lymphoma. I can tell you both days like they were yesterday! My one grandma I didn't get to say goodbye to. My great grandmother , I didn't leave her side, I was by her side when the dr told her she had stage 4 lymphoma! She had it for months but her regular dr did not seem to catch it! She didn't want to have treatments but for me she tried! I held her hand during the 8 hour treatment! ONE treatment, before it took her. On March 10, 2013 I got the call in the middle of the night to meet her at the ER! After being transported to a different hospital I watched and held her hand as she slowly went! And the thing is she asked me several times why wouldn't it end, she just wanted to go home! On March 11, 2013 in the early mornings I sat and watched her take her last breath. She was a good Christian lady who fought breast cancer 10 years ago! I couldn't blame god because he was ready for her to come home. It's just something that I will never forget! Because like Reagan and granddaddy, my world revolved around my great grandma!
This isn't your typical love story! I love the relationship that Emmett and Reagan have, but I also love that the story is revolved around someone else! This story shows the dynamics of family and the affects they have on relationships! Although Emmett loved Reagan, he understood what family meant to her! I love Casey Peelers books and have been a fan since book 1 and don't think that's going to change anytime soon!
Make sure you have tissues nearby because this is a tear jerker but is also a heartwarming tale! Good job Casey on an awesome book!

I was provided a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.

OH WOW I just finish reading this book, and I have to say I felt in love with it from the first page to the last. This book had me on an emotional roller coaster, I cried like a baby, this is one of the sweetens love story I have read, I have read other book of Casey and I love them, but this one just gave me a good cried, I am gone keep this short since I don't want to give anything away.

The story begging with Raegan, when she was five years old she lost her parents and grandmother, ever since that she being with her granddaddy, his her entire life, she helps him around the farm, while she also pretend that everything is ok to world, everyone in her town love her, but they don't know what's going with her, cause they don't see the real her, she don't date or fall for guys, cause she is always putting her granddaddy first, but all that change when someone from her past comes back, Emmett his the one that gave her hope when her life change when she was just five, now Emmett is back in her life and his not going anywhere, everything is going good for Raegan into her granddaddy gives her some news that will change her life again, will she push Emmett away or will she let him in.

I really love and enjoy reading this book, I love how Emmett is with Raegan, and how you could see how much he loves her, I love the characters, specially Cole love it how protective of her he is, and how he love her as a sister, I just love this book.

I love the note that Author Casey Peeler write at the end of the book, I know how it feels to lose your sunshine, cause I lost three of my sunshine they where my grandmother and both of my granddaddy's, and oh boy how did I cried them they where my world.

Author Casey Peeler THANK YOU for introducing me to this amazing wonderful book and this awesome characters, love them.

I won an ARC copy by the author and am writing an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.
The story starts off with a bang. I like how a story can pull you in from the start and let me tell you that you will be interested from the start in this stand alone book from Casey Peeler. If you have read her Full Circle series (which I highly recommend), this is totally different and set in southern and small town environment, however the vibe from the people are different.
Flash forward to the present and you have Reagan (female lead) and her pawpaw, Mr. Lowery(male co-lead) on the farm. Reagan's point of view is how this starts out you can see how she is the typical all american southern belle on the outside, looks can be very deceiving.
Enter childhood love of her life Emmett(male co-lead), drop dead gorgeous man who has come back to high school just in time for Rea, as her friends call her, needs her the most.
This story hit home to me at the end. You seem to know all throughout the book what is going to have to happen to have Rea grow up and rely on, Emmett and Cole (Emmett's step brother).
The story throws you off at times because it goes from Rea's point of view to Emmett's point of view. For some people that can get a bit confusing if you have not read a book like this before, however as you read further in the book you do not even notice the view switch as much and just see a scene play out in front of you. I think that helps clear the confusion for those who have never read a book that switches points of views.
I think this story tells a lot about of how keeping up appearances can be hard and deceiving and to be true to yourself. I also like to think that Mrs. Peeler wants us to realize that there are people, true friends we can count on when we need them.
I hope she would consider writing another book to see how Rea and Emmett fair at college and how the farm turns out.

I was really impressed by this book. I found the first chapter to be especially stunning. I loved how Peeler so easily interpreted how a child would be feeling and reacting to the recent events that have happened in her life. This was one of the most real things I have read in a while. Peeler really captured a certain sense of innocence and playfulness from a young Raegan, which reminded me so much of my own childhood. I definitely enjoyed the fact that the readers see Raegan, as more than what she appears to be to her friends and family. We see her as the ‘perfect girl’ at school, but we also get to experience her when she’s at home with her grandfather, where she’s completely different. Raegan is not afraid to get dirty on the farm, she’s hard working, sweet, kind, etc.. As for Emmett, I was most fond of him when he was with Raegan. I believe that Peeler wrote two beautiful characters that are strongest when they are together. Anyone who has read my past reviews will know that I’m a sucker for a good love story, and that’s exactly what Casey Peeler gave her readers. I enjoyed that fact that Peeler was able to write a charming love story in less than 300 pages, she kept it short and sweet, while still getting the point of the story across to her readers (approximately 200 pages). Southern Perfection is a beautifully written story that I couldn’t put down, every chapter left me wanting more. It had everything you would expect from a romance novel; the tragedy, jealousy, innocence, charming main characters, etc. Casey Peeler did a fantastic job with this novel; she had me laughing at one moment and tearing up the next. I would definitely recommend Southern Perfection to anyone who enjoys a good love story. I cannot wait to see what will be in store next for Casey Peeler.

On the outside, Raegan Lowery is the perfect All-American girl – honor student, varsity cheerleader, beautiful and nice to everyone, but she has also had a hard past. At the age of 5, Raegan lost her entire family except for her granddaddy, who will always be number 1 in her life. When school ends, the hard work begins and she does more than her part in running the family farm to make sure her granddaddy doesn’t overdo it.

Emmett Bridges made his mark on Raegan when he gave her a stuffed bunny after she lost everything. Little did he know, that small act of kindness made a huge impact on Raegan’s life and she has never forgotten him. After being gone for a few years, Emmett’s back and he can’t get Raegan out of his head. He’s been warned to stay away by others who have staked their claim on Raegan, but he’ll let her make that choice.

When Raegan learns that her world may be turned upside down once again, she’s asked to keep the secret within her small family. This secret is eating her alive and breaking her heart, and she doesn’t know how she’ll survive this again. Emmett is the perfect southern gentleman and she’s falling for him fast, but can she fully let him in her life? No one will ever come before Granddaddy and she wills always be there for him, but who will be there for her in the end?

I have had the honor of working with Casey Peeler on all of her projects, and I have loved watching her grow as an author. I can honestly say that this is BY FAR the best book she has written to date. Southern Perfection is a beautiful story full of love, healing, southern life, family, and friends. It is heartwarming, as well as heartbreaking, and I absolutely loved every minute of it. Keep a box of tissues handy, you’ll need it!

On the outside, Raegan Lowery is the all-American girl. She has the stunning looks, humble personality, and heart of gold. At a very young age, her life changes completely when tragedy strikes her family, and she is sent to live with her grandaddy. She quickly realizes what family values, hard work, and staying true to her southern roots encompasses.

Emmett Bridges returns to Pleasant Hill after being gone for a few years. Little did he know that when he gave Raegan a stuffed rabbit during one of the hardest times of her life, he was laying the foundation to a relationship in the future. Emmett is the true definition of a “Southern Gentleman” and exactly whom Raegan needs in her life.

As soon as he begins classes at Cleveland High, he sees Raegan, and there is instant attraction between the two. But, most importantly, those memories of kindness flood through Raegan’s mind, especially the stuffed rabbit. What happens next is a well-written story of not only love but also life.

Casey Peeler hits it out of the park with this novel. Yes, I admit I cried when The Full Circle Series ended, but nothing compares to the tears I shed each time I read Southern Perfection. Having the honor of reading Casey’s emotions pour into this novel as it was written was awe-inspiring. Raegan and Emmett are the perfect match, and Grandaddy Dover is the glue that holds the story together.

I have had the privilege of working on every one of Casey’s projects, and I can honestly say that Southern Perfection has been her best writing to date. Knowing where her inspiration came from with this novel only makes it that much more fabulous. I cannot wait to see what’s up next.

Raegan only has her grandfather. He is her everything. But as life continues, there is a scare that may take her rock away from her. As she continues to be the all American girl at school and for the rest of the world to see, she is falling apart inside. She can not lose her rock too. She will be left with nothing.

Emmett comes back to town. He was the one true saving grace for Raegan all those years ago when her parents died. He does not realize that he helped her. But once they lay eyes on each other, their hearts know. Sometimes our true love comes into our lives when we need them the most.

As Raegan and Emmett learn to deal with these feeling for each other, life in their small town continues. But when it comes to Raegan’s Granddaddy, he will always come first. Emmett must learn to deal with this even it breaks his heart. He knows something is going on. He just never imagined what it was.

Will Raegan allow Emmett to help her deal with her lie that she is keeping? Can Emmett prove to Raegan that he truly loves her by being there for her when she pushes him away? In the end, Granddaddy always knows what to do to make his sunshine happy.

This story was so heartwarming. I cried during several chapters. It broke my heart. Casey was able to make the character become real and the hurt that they felt was as those you were standing there with them. Raegan’s Granddaddy was awesome. I think we all need someone like that in our lives and this world would be a much better place.

Then to learn that this story was inspired by Casey’s Granddaddy made it that much more special. Kudos to Casey for this truly amazing story.

Updated Review for the New Release!

The relationships between Raegan and Emmett is so sweet. Emmett is the type of young man that all girls dream of finding. My favorite part of the whole book though, the part that truly connected with me deeply was the relationship between Raegan and her Grandaddy. The love and bond that flows between them brought tears to my eyes.

Raegan was raised by her Grandaddy after losing her parents and Grandma in a car accident. Having lost (almost) everyone that meant everything to her , one small gesture brings young Raegan hope. Emmett, a boy in her class, gave her a stuffed rabbit, that reminds her of Thumper (the class pet). Raegan holds on to that bunny over the years, even after Emmett has moved.

Senior year has come and with it the return of Emmett, who has moved back to live with his mother and step-father. He enters back into Raegan's life, having never forgotten her.

When tragedy once again hits Raegan and her Grandaddy, Emmett and Cole (Emmett's step-brother and close family friend) step in to help her and her Grandfather. Trying to keep Raegan's life as close to normal while she deals with her Grandaddy's cancer.

Casey Peeler has truly brought such life to her characters. She makes you feel every laugh and every tear. Please make sure you have Kleenex. I was sad when the last page was turned.

I would recommend Southern Perfection to anyone who wants a believable love story, a nook that has more than just the typical "Boy and Girl fall in love" story line. If Southern Perfection doesn't hit you at the core of your heart, I don't know a book that will.

The title describes this book perfectly…. Southern Perfection! This book was one I didn’t want to put down; I wanted to devour it from start to finish. I can relate to this book a lot more than some of the others I read because I know what it is like to grow up in the South. (although I wasn’t raised on a farm) I felt like I could relate to Raegan. She wasn’t one of those characters that you get annoyed with… trust me I have read plenty of those.

Raegan isn’t perfect and definitely doesn’t have the ideal life. She lost her parents and her grandmother when she was younger. She currently lives with her granddaddy, who is her life. There is a special bond that is developed between a granddaughter and her grandfather and I thought this book portrayed that bond perfectly. I loved how he always referred to Raegan as ‘Sunshine’. She truly brightened his life on a daily basis and she felt the same about him. He was all she had left and they supported each other at all cost.

The dynamics between Raegan, Cole and Emmett were great. I was worried throughout the story that there may be more between Raegan and Cole than what we were originally led to believe. As you can tell, I am a huge Emmett fan! I loved Emmett from the very beginning…. Back to the stuffed rabbit! It was wonderful that their bond was put into place at such a young age and then grew when he came back into town.

**Spoiler Alert**

Loved the story and will definitely recommend it to others.

Southern Perfection is an awesome read!!! Casey Peeler has become one of the authors that I automatically one click whenever she publishes something. I loved the whole Full Circle series so I had to read Casey's newest book, Southern Perfection. Southern Perfection is great and I was not disappointed. It's definitely worth one clicking.

Raegan is an amazing character. She has had a lot happen in her live. She is so put together. She's not your typical high schooler, she has a lot going on but keeps it;s all balanced.
Emmett is swoon worthy. He left town for a while and now he's back. He understands Raegan. He also is the only boy that Raegan has shown interest in.

I also loved Grandaddy. The love in Grandaddy and Raegan's relationship is one we all wish we had. Grandaddy is also a strong character, he doesn't miss a beat when he threatens Emmett with his shotgun. I'm not sure if he would really meet Emmett at the door with a shotgun if he didn't bring Raegan back on time but it sure did make me smile when I read it.

It's told in the dual POV of Raegan and Emmett. I love dual POVs because you can get into both Raegan and Emmett's heads and she what they are thinking.

It's a great sweet story that reminds you how important love and family are. It also an emotional roller coaster of a read and you might want to have some tissues near by just in case.

If you are looking for a sweet read then this will be perfect. This follows the life of Raegan Lowery. her parents and grandmother were tragically killed when she was young so she has been raised by her beloved Grandaddy. She is in her last year of high school and when she isn't studying she is helping out around the farm.

When Emmett Bridges returns home for his last year of high school, he cannot believe how much Raegan has changed and how beautiful she is. He was the boy who kissed all the girls in the play ground when they were younger so he has always been a charmer. Emmett and Rae just seem to click, he finds himself falling over his feet to spend time with this sweet girl.

Raegan is hiding something though, behind that beautiful smile and sweet manner, she is carrying a huge burden on her shoulders. Emmett senses something but until she is prepared to open up he can't push her to tell him.

These two are so damn cute together, it's like they were meant to be together and everything just feels right between, except for the something that Raegan is holding back on. She is very devoted to her grandaddy and he will always come first in her life, no matter how much she cares for Emmett. If he can only be patient enough to wait for the time when she can be in a place to devote herself to him then they could really have a chance at a wonderful future together.

Heartbreakingly Beautiful

UPDATE:

Honestly.....another freaking great story from Peeler.

I've loved her work since I got hooked on her Full Circle series and I couldn't wait for more to come, and here we are, with Southern Perfection, and you WON'T be disappointed.

I want to thank Peeler for kindly providing me with a copy to read and review, and I will be honest towards the end I ended up a red eyed, stuffy nose , sniffling mess.....UGLY cried big time...

Raegan Lowery: Know to all as Miss perfect, an honor student and perfectionist, except those close to her, they know the REAL Raegan, the real life she lives and not the one she portrays for others.

After tragedy strikes Raegan and her Pawpaw (Grandaddy) they both face a lifetime of changes and a whole load of hills to climb

An act of kindness to someone who needs it the most will always stick in their minds, and what young Emmett did for Raegan all those years ago has never been forgotten about, never once left both of their minds, it's like fate has struck and brought them back together...

I love how personal this was to Peeler and the she manages to pour her heart and soul into each and every one of her stories, albeit each and every is different.

This book is amazing it will make you Laugh, Cry and Fall in love....

If you are looking for a feel good book you have come to the right place. Southern Perfection is a standalone, so if Casey Peeler is a new author to you there will be no catching up. This was a heart warming read about accepting what you cannot change and making the most out of the hand that life deals you. The bond we see with Reagan and her grandfather is very relatable and facing the reality that nothing is forever can be overwhelming.

Luckily, Reagan has a few people in her corner that will support her through the ups and downs that life throws at her without a second thought about what's in it for them. Emmett and Cole are more than any girl could ask for.

Emmett had me swooning from the word go and his ability to see right through Reagan was heart melting. You could tell that they were connected beyond the physical. Who knew that a simple jesture to envoke a smile would leave such a lasting affect.

Casey Peeler has again provided a story full of emotion. As with her Full Circle Series, she draws you in and keeps you invested till the last page. I will of course be waiting to see what she has up next for us.

** I received a complimentary copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. **

Southern Perfection is my favorite book of 2014. I think it will be pretty difficult for a book to upset this one as my favorite for the year. My reasons for loving this book so much are personal. Without spoiling anything from the book, from Chapter 40 until the end I felt as if the author was writing about me. Anyone who can write a book that I feel so closely connected to is a winner in my book.

Since my reasons for loving this book as much as I do are personal, I am not going to say that this book is for everyone. If you love a sweet NA read that has a period of ugly cry, then this is the book for you. If you love books that take you on an emotional rollercoaster, then this is the book for you. While to me this story started out as a sweet NA love story, by the end it had become so much more. I loved that the heroine was a strong female who instead of relying on everyone else to handle it all tried to fix and take care of everything herself.

I loved Casey Peeler’s Full Circle series, so I knew that Southern Perfection would not disappoint!

Southern Perfection

I was one of the fortunate few to get the opportunity to read this early.
Let me just start off by saying that while I love Casey Peeler personally that has nothing to do with my review on this book. I am in love with the character Emmett in this book. (Yes, I love him more than Cash from the Full Circle books.)
Raegan has always went above and beyond to take care of her granddaddy. Making him a very proud man. After all he’s really the only family she has left. She is your All American Dream Girl. Varsity Cheerleader, honor student and she can run a farm.
Emmett never realized the impact a small gesture on kindness could have on Rae, until years later.
Now, he’s moved back to her small town and can’t seem to get the all American beauty out of his head.
By a few chapters in I was invested in these characters. I loved the chemistry that Rae and Emmett pull off. I’m a sucker for a girl who can do it all and a smokin’ hot southern boy.
This book grabbed my attention and is a very good book for an older YA audience.
I give this book 5 STARS.
Great Job Casey!

Southern Perfection is one of the most beautiful, emotional and heart warming young love stories I've ever read. But this story is so much more than just a love story. It is the epitome of what family and true friends mean. It reminds you what is truly important in life. It is emotional to the point of ugly crying but also sweet as honey.

Raegan endured one of the most horrific things a child can endure but came out a beautiful, strong and determined young lady. Emmett is a young man that stays true to his heart and his girl through everything she must live through. Their journey together is beautiful. The author's description of and the character of Raegan's grandaddy, Dover, is the perfect vision of an old southern gentleman. Hard working, stern when needed, but loving to his very core. Reminded me through out the book of my own Papaw.

The character development in this story is perfect. I connected with the characters easily and fell in love with their passion and their pain. I've read all of Mrs. Peeler's books and I must say, this one is my favorite. :)

Raegan lives with her granddaddy after her parents and MawMaw were tragically killed in a car accident. Raegan was very young at the time and Cole was her best friend and cousin who was always by her side! As the years go on and on Raegan and her granddaddy get into a routine of working on the farm and school! Once Cole is old enough he starts to work on the farm also and after high school starts to work on the farm full time to help her Granddaddy out because well he is getting on in age. Emmett , Cole's step brother moves back to town and Raegan and him hit it off. Emmett will never know how much he helped her move on from her parents death with a simple stuffed bunny. What everyone doesn't know is that Granddaddy,Cole and Raegan have a secret that they are keeping from everyone. Will Raegan be able to let Emmett in enough to tell him the secret?? Can Raegan move on after the heartache of loosing so much of her family? If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would, I would give this book a million stars!
