When United Nations Secretary-General François Mirreaux collapses in his Geneva office just weeks before a landmark women's rights conference, the world mourns a visionary leader. But to Ian Steele-an American entrepreneur turned U.S. Consulate consultant-his death is no accident.
What begins as a straightforward assignment quickly veers into a labyrinth of secrets. Partnering with Vanessa Dupont, a fearless political journalist, Ian follows a trail of cryptic symbols, covert alliances, and coded betrayals that point to a cabal powerful enough to shape the world order.
From the glittering nightlife of Monaco to the tranquil waters of Lake Como, from hushed UN corridors to encrypted plots hatched online, Ian and Vanessa must survive a conspiracy where every ally could be an enemy-and every move could ignite catastrophe.
The Leviathan Conspiracy unveils a chilling machination that will leave readers breathless until the final page.
Debut author Benjamin Karp hits the scene hard and fast with a murder in Geneva on the eve of an important conference. There are some fun thrills in the ever deepening rabbit hole of Leviathan. In Hobbes they trust. Karp makes sure to hit on plenty of prescient issues. Women’s rights, AI, the like. I thought there were some interesting themes about men dictating the level of equality women are allowed to have, even the good men.
Karp also provides some expert detail on the vast array of locations. He’s clearly well travelled and has extensive working knowledge of the main attractions each city has to boast of.
It’s a bold swing for a debut author, and sets Ian Steele up as a character with near infinite potential in what I imagine will ultimately be a long running series!
The Leviathan Conspiracy is a fast paced journey around Europe with details abounding at every scenic stop. The main characters are quickly thrown into a mystery that evolves with every new character introduction. I don’t read enough of this genre to compare this book to similar tales, but the care in crafting the world that hosts our protagonists is very clear. This novel would be the perfect companion to your own adventure abroad or closer to home—a great vacation read that is sure to get you out of your head!
This was an engaging and highly enjoyable thriller from a debut author. The globe-trotting plot takes you to lots of fun and fabulous destinations as the conspiracy unfolds and culminates in an exciting climax. I was never sure which way the book would go next, as it kept me on my toes and wanting to read more.
