Tim Sweeney is the author of Yank Down Under: A Drink and A Look Around Australia, a humorous travel memoir that recounts his adventures (and misadventures) during 3 years of living in Australia. His writing is laced with dry humor and witty observations about the places and people he encounters in his travels, and often with a hilarious and healthy dose of self-deprecation. Readers of Yank Down Under compare his writing style to Bill Bryson, but "with a looser tongue." Tim began his career as a newspaper journalist in Colorado, where he won the award for Best Column Writing from the Colorado Press Association at the age of twenty-three. He's written for a number of magazines including Skiing, SKI, Powder, Pebble Beach, Palm Desert, and Palm Springs Life, and also studied improv and hosted a YouTube series. Born in Massachusetts, Tim attended Eckerd College in Florida, then lived most of his adult life in California, Australia, and the French Alps. He's been a magazine editor, a radio sports anchor, an advertising copywriter, and a marketing professional for premium sports brands.
