Rowan's hiding secrets that could alter the course of her entire life. As Olivia uncovers the truth about her past and the lies she’s been raised to believe, her connection to Rowan deepens into a bond that’s undeniable. And forbidden.

This book... this book absolutely needs more hype and attention!

I generally don't like books written in 3rd POV but this one is so well done, I didn't notice for a solid three chapters, and even after I did, I still loved it!

It's absolutely criminal that people aren't talking about this. Give me all the dystopian world, rebellion clashes and I will eat it up every single time.

This story is a masterclass in setting enough foundation to let the reader understand the world without info dumping.

This is giving Hunger Games and Matched and Divergent vibes, which were incredible reads for me. May cannot get here fast enough for book 2! I hope we get more of the politics and background but dang, what a start!

she had to become strong

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Zero 🌶️ unless kissing counts (it does not).

It gave Divergent vibes, and I love that for us.

I love that Olivia isn’t your typical strong FMC, she had been pretty pampered and sheltered. She had to find her strength through heartbreak, and she found it and then some.

I love how Rowan loves so hard and deep. He’s a fierce protector and will do anything to keep her safe.

I need Rebel Song ASAP

5 of 5, would absolutely recommend

Wow! I knew from others that this was going to be a read that was going to hurt my heart, but I thought with that preparation I would be able to compartmentalize! Nope, Kelly knows how to wrest those emotions straight out of that compartment and bring you to your knees in the best way. The love between Olivia and Rowan is epic. The friendship between Olivia and Mabel is seriously #friendshipgoals. And the whole story behind these rebel hearts is one that has you needing to know how it will all play out. The character growth or Olivia is top notch. Absolutely would recommend this book to everyone. Just be prepared for a couple of tears (or likely more)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rebel Heart completely pulled me in from the very first chapter. The world-building was one of my favorite parts, it instantly reminded me of The Hunger Games with the way society was divided into numbered regions. Region 1 held all the wealth and privilege, while Region 7 was left struggling to survive, creating a huge divide that made the stakes feel even higher.

I loved the mix of action, suspense, and emotion throughout the story. The characters were easy to root for, and I found myself completely invested in their fight and to get to Region X. While it gave me those Hunger Games vibes, it still felt like its own unique story with plenty of twists that kept me turning the pages.

If you enjoy dystopian romances with strong characters, high stakes, and a rebellion worth cheering for, this is definitely one to add to your TBR!

Rebel Heart

As I always do, I went in blind, not knowing anything about this book and boy was I surprised.

My heart broke and I felt devastated. But I’m so happy with ending.

Can’t wait for book 2.

A dystopian book that has stolen my heart! Rebel Heart is raw, emotional, and intense. I loved how the story explored loyalty, rebellion, and choosing love even when everything is going to chaos.

Without giving away the plot, this world is set where you have different regions that vary from rich to poor and that determines resources you’ll receive (electricity, water, food, etc). A rebellion occurred as shortages began, and in desperation young girls from wealthy families were kidnapped by lower classes to bargain with.

Ever since the last rebellion the government came up with The Department of Guardians, young men trained to protect wealthy young girls from being kidnapped. This is where the FMC (Olivia) and MMC (Rowan) come in.

Rowan is assigned to protect Olivia for so many years. Their relationship is supposed to be strictly business. But as Olivia begins to learn secrets, things change. Soon, she finds herself in a possible upcoming rebellion.

❤️‍🔥FMC that becomes strong
❤️‍🔥A spunky female sidekick
❤️‍🔥Slow burn
❤️‍🔥No spice (a few kissing moments)
❤️‍🔥Courageous characters

This book is giving Hunger Games and Divergent vibes, and I’m here for it! Some major plot twists too! Easy 5 stars from me. ❤️🔥

I gobbled this book up. I canceled plan to read. I read instead of slept. This book was amazing! I was hooked from page 1 and I never once wasn’t. I cried at 55% through. The FMC’s growth through the book is beautiful!

Rebel Heart is about a woman “born” into a wealthy family. She loses some dear to her and it changes how she sees her community and entire life up until that point. This book has plot twists, forbidden love, a dangerous journey, found family. All the good stuff!

Rebel Heart pulled me in quietly and then refused to let go.

What Kelly does better than most is relationships. Not the dramatic, overblown kind. The real kind. The slow shifts. The looks that mean more than the dialogue. Rowan and Olivia don’t just exist on the page, they feel lived-in. Their connection builds naturally, and when it crosses the line from duty into something deeper, it hits.

The world around them is brutal without needing to scream about it. Power, control, class division, it’s all there, but never dumped on you. You just… understand it. Which makes the stakes land harder.

Olivia’s arc is where this really lands for me. She doesn’t start as a fighter. She’s shaped by the system, by expectation, by control. Watching her wake up, question, and start to push back feels earned. Nothing about her strength is handed to her. She pays for it.

And Rowan… he’s not just a protector. He’s a pressure point. Loyalty, restraint, sacrifice. You feel the weight of every choice he makes.

There’s tension running through the entire book. Not just romance, but danger, truth, consequence. And when it shifts, it moves.

Kelly has a way of writing emotion that doesn’t feel forced. She did it with Johnny and Annie in Too Pretty, and she does it again here. Different dynamic, same authenticity.

Rebel Heart is intense, grounded, and quietly devastating in places. It sets the stage without holding your hand, and by the end, you know you’re not done with this world.

I need the next book. Immediately.

My honest opinion about Rebel Hearts is the following
— if you love characters that feel real, alive this is the one for you

— if you love a fierce female main character who takes no sh*t from anyone then run and read REBEL HEART. Olivia has never felt like she belonged. There was no love in her home. She was a show piece for her mother and father. She would marry the most coveted rich man available. Not for love, for status. Plus you will also get another strong female character, Mabel, that is just as fierce. I was so excited when Mabels name came up. She was so free, very different from Olivia.

— Rowan! The way his character was written, he just draws you in! He has always protected and sheltered Olivia. But this society does not protect Guardians. Rowan is a Guardian. Olivia’s Guardian. When Rowan is accused of a crime, no one believes him. This society protects the rich and powerful.

— From beginning to end this is story that keeps you gripping the pages. I NEEDED Rowan to be safe but those “friends” were all conspiring to take him down.

— The side characters were well written. You will love 💕 LOVE the villains. Your favorite villain will be Wren Calix. She is best horrific female villain I have ever read. 👏 👏 👏

I cannot wait for you to pick up REBEL HEART and fall in love with Olivia, Mabel, Rowan, Royce and so many more! And yes I loved to hate Wren Calix

This dystopian story completely pulled me in and didn’t let go. Rebel Heart is intense, emotional, and layered with themes of loyalty, rebellion, and love in the middle of chaos.

The world-building is gripping. We are introduced to a society that is divided by wealth, and access to basic necessities depends on where you stand. After a past uprising, the government created Guardians—young men trained to protect wealthy girls from being taken. That’s where Olivia and Rowan come in, and their dynamic is one of the most compelling parts of the book.

Because Rowan is her assigned Guardian, their relationship is completely off-limits. The tension between duty and desire is constant, creating a slow-burn, forbidden romance that feels raw and powerful. Every interaction is charged, making their connection hit even harder.

What really stands out is how the author takes you on an emotional rollercoaster... breaking your heart in certain moments, then slowly piecing it back together as the story unfolds. That balance of heartbreak and healing adds so much depth to the journey.

With fast pacing, twists, danger, and an intense forbidden romance at its core, this is an addictive, can’t-put-it-down kind of read—and I already can’t wait for the next book.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rebel Heart — Review

This book had me from hello.

From the very first pages, Rebel Heart pulled me in and refused to let go. The story draws you in effortlessly, builds its characters with intention, and makes you feel deeply—whether that’s love, anger, or heartbreak. Every emotion feels earned.

Rowan is one of the most loyal MMCs I’ve read in a long time. His loyalty runs to the core of who he is, unwavering even when everything around him is breaking. Liv is equally powerful—fierce, brave, and resilient. Watching her confront her past, endure catastrophic shifts in the story, and rise to meet each challenge through her own figurative metamorphosis was deeply satisfying and emotional.

This is the kind of story that pulls you under, breaks you open, and then reshapes you exactly where the author wants you. The character growth, emotional tension, and intensity are beautifully done.

I closed this book already eager for what comes next. I am more than ready for book two.

Wow. This book completely pulled me in.

*Rebel Heart* is one of those rare reads where the pacing never drags. From the very beginning, you’re thrown into the story and it just keeps moving—no filler, no unnecessary slow moments. I ended up reading it in about 8 hours because I simply couldn’t stop.

What stood out to me the most was the main character. She’s strong, but not in a cliché way. At first, you might not fully understand her—or even like her—and that’s intentional. Don’t judge her too quickly. Watching her unfold and evolve is part of what makes this story so engaging.

The mix of dystopian tension and romance is done really well, keeping the stakes high while still giving you those emotional moments that hit just right.

If you love books that keep you hooked from start to finish and characters that challenge your first impressions, definitely give this one a try. It’s intense, addictive, and absolutely worth the read.

My heart is still in a chokehold, after finishing this book. Very few books have left me speechless and this is one of them. Kelly has quickly become an auto buy author for me. If she writes it, I’m gonna read it.

My heart broke while reading this book, I was so absorbed in this story that I didn’t even realize I was crying until I saw my tears hit my kindle. I don’t even know how to describe this book other than it was very beautifully written and in such a way that once you get into this book, you cannot stop reading, in some parts I got so mad at some of the characters I wanted to throw my kindle but cldnt because I had to know what happened next. The ending was beautiful, but also left you with needing more and prepares you for what’s coming next.

A compelling, well-written story about a girl named Olivia, who feels like she's living a life she didn't ask for and one she has no control over. The only bright spot in her life is her guardian, Rowan. When the plans others have made for Olivia spiral out of control, she must find her own strength to help save herself and her friends.

I was living for the romance and the heartbreak between Olivia and Rowan. I know I'll be thinking about these characters for awhile and eagerly awaiting the next book in the series. This is a fantastic read that I couldn't put down - highly recommend!! Take a chance on this book - you won't be disappointed!

Some secrets could change your life!

This story is a wonderful tale about secrets and a love so powerful it withstood time. It had me locked in from the beginning. I loved the characters and the way the storyline played out. It kept me guessing what would happen and now wanting more.
Olivia is the FMC that is rebellious and strong headed in this book. She will learn so much about herself, her friends, her parents and her past that she never knew. These secrets that are revealed could change the course of her entire life and her future. To find out her journey, you will have to read it and fall in love with it like I did.

This was my first read from Kelly and I really enjoyed it! I've been on a dystopian kick and the world she's building here is unique to other dystopian books I've been reading lately. I definitely teared up a few times while reading, particularly at the end. You might enjoy this if you like:
- privileged FMC who grows as she learns the truth of her world
- slow burn (no spice in this book, some kissing)
- protective MMC
- sassy best friend
- manipulative government agencies and the people who rebel against them

I cannot wait for Rebel Song!

Rebel Heart completely pulled me into its world from the very beginning. The characters felt real, and I found myself genuinely invested in everything they were going through.
Olivia, the FMC is strong, determined, and doesn't let the world break her. Watching her face every challenge made it impossible not to root for her.
The world-building was immersive, making it easy to lose track of time while reading. Every chapter left me wanting just one more, and before I knew it, I was completely hooked.

The world building went along with the plot which I love. There were twists and turns when secrets of their pasts are revealed. There is forced proximity and a bit of second chance/ soulmates too!
