Do you ever listen to your heart? Thump, thump, thump. Do you hear its warnings? Thump, thump, thump. I did.
Only my heart didn’t belong to me, so I’ve built tall, tough walls around it, not realizing the golden hockey boy was going to take a sledgehammer to them with his secrets.

Severin Minaev is not who the world thinks he is.
He directs the winds in my life.
His soul is shattered by darkness.
He’s got storms brewing in his eyes behind the easy smiles.

The only problem is…I’ve always loved the storms. They called out to me.
Only his storm consumed me…

"Why are you doing this to me, Sava?"
"Because I was just fine before I met you, Aurora."
"And now?"
"And now, I can't breathe if you're not around."

This is the second book in the author’s Reborn Series. This book is an intense dark romance between two characters who have been brought together by fate. Severin Minaev is a burly Russian hockey goalie. Aurora Johnson is a single mom of a four year old son who can’t catch a break.

Fate may have brought these two together, but Severin’s protective manner keeps them together.

Aurora’s son, Emett, steals the show!

After I read Born Of Ice, I've been waiting for book 2. I stalked Daisy's instagram waiting for am annoucement. I immediately ran to apply for an ARC because I have been "patiently" waiting for this.

This book is not only incredible but heart wrenching with a mix of needing to read to the end to find out what happens. Born of Storm is exactly what I needed.. the emotions this book gave me was top tier. Be ready to do nothing all day but read this book.
Aurora and Severin are the definition of meant to be.. and Emett? ohh I just loved Emett. He stole the entire show.

this is book 2 in the reborn series but after reading both of them, you can absolutely read this as a standalone.

Wow… just wow. The wait for this book was completely worth it. Daisy did a beautiful job bringing Sava and Aurora’s story to life. Now I understand why it took her time to release it, because this story is powerful and pulls every emotion out of you in the best way.

Sava… I don’t even know where to begin. After everything he’s been through, he throws caution to the wind because deep down he knows Aurora is it for him. Their connection is intense and unexpected, and it truly cements the fact that they were meant to find each other. And the way he was with Emett? Be still my heart. He loved that little boy from the very start, stepping into a fatherly role without hesitation, and my ovaries were absolutely losing it while reading those moments.

Aurora is an absolute badass. She went through hell after coming face to face with death. Taking care of her sick father, dealing with a trash brother who hated her, and being the best single mom she could be, life just kept punching her without mercy. She deserved a break more than anyone. Sava became her saving grace in ways she didn’t even realize, and I loved watching her finally let him in after everything she’d endured.

And Emett? That sweet boy stole my heart, plain and simple. I adored him. Even at such a young age, he was the funniest and purest soul, loving with that kind of honesty only children have. If Daisy ever writes a second-gen series, I truly hope Emett gets his own book.

If you’re looking for a typical “boy meets girl and they fall in love” story, this might not be for you. But if you want a story that leaves you emotionally wrecked in the best way, this is it. It’s about fate, about destined paths crossing no matter what, and how one single moment can change the entire course of your life, like a butterfly effect wrapped in romance and the beauty that storms can bring.

I can’t recommend this book enough. It’s already one of my favorite reads of 2026!

Thank you so much Daisy for the ARC of this beautiful book!

What a read! It’s a whole vibe and that vibe is a pull and a need you can’t walk away from, change in the air so strong you can taste it on your tongue, and the uncertainty of whether whatever is coming will leave behind a trail of destruction or a peace you’ve never known, and it is endlessly intriguing and completely captivating.
The plot itself can be boiled down to a man, Sava, who donates the heart of someone close to him that saves the life of a woman and her unborn son, and then fate brings that woman, Rory, and her son, Emmett, into his life through mutual friends. But the nuances and the back story of how this all came to be and the pull that flickers back to life that Sava has when he sees Rory again, that is what makes this read unputdownable and totally sucks you in. It’s Sava coming face to face with parts of his past he thought he’d left behind, the monster he could be, if he hadn’t chosen hockey, coming out with a vengeance the more time he spends with them and the more his protective instincts kick in and he knows, like deep down knows, that they are his. His to protect, his to love, and his to fight for. And honestly, it’s a seriously fantastic story.
Both Rory and Sava are fascinating, him because of his past, her because of how jaded she is and everything she has went through and continues to go through, and Emmett is just a straight ray of sunshine that you adore. It has it’s darker elements, I love Sava’s touch her and die it’s so perfect, it has it’s dashes of humor between friends and nosy family, but at it’s core it’s finding home, belonging, and being loved, and all the safety and security it brings to three lives that have always felt uncertain and a little unsteady. A great read with a compelling story that’s an excellent follow up to Born of Ice.

ARC Reader:

This is a story is a poetic romance that pulls at your soul. Aurora has spent her life dealing with the cards that were served to her. She has spent her life protecting herself and her son. Building walls around her heart, that is until Severin Minaev, the golden hockey boy with devastating secrets, shatters them.

The story opens with breathtaking, poetic imagery, where the storm feels almost alive, acting as Aurora’s guardian angel, warning her of both the dangers ahead and the beauty waiting beyond them. This atmospheric beginning sets the tone for a deeply emotional journey. Aurora shines as a true survivor, carrying exhaustion, pain, and resilience in equal measure. Even when she is worn down to her core, she keeps moving forward, proving her strength is not loud or effortless, but earned through endurance and heart.

At first, Severin appears cold toward Aurora, but in truth his feelings run far deeper, almost obsessive in their intensity. I absolutely adore Emett. He is so funny, the heart of the family. For such a young child, he carries a remarkable wisdom. He adores his mother and wants only the best for her, and despite the darkness within his family, especially his uncle, he refuses to let that ugliness steal his childhood.

Severin notices when Emmett is being mischievous, yet he can’t bring himself to stop it. Even when Aurora denies her feelings and refuses help, Severin stays—because he knows she needs him. This love isn’t gentle; it’s overwhelming, sometimes suffocating, and bound tightly to fear and desire. The tone is brooding, poetic, and raw, focusing as much on inner conflict as on romance, capturing longing, emotional storms, and the dangerous beauty of loving someone who feels like both home and ruin.

Be still my heart...

This was the sweetest, swooniest hockey romance I've read in a long time. I cannot even with how much I love this book. I got all the feels while reading this book. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I melted...These characters will forever be living rent-free in my mind. This is my first book by Daisy Thorn and I will be adding her to my immediately must-read list. Her writing was so easy to get into and I instantly felt invested in Aurora and Sava's story. The MCs and side characters were all easy to love. I devoured this book so fast.

I loved every moment between Aurora and Sava. The pacing and slow-burn build-up between them was delicious. I was swooning and melting all over the place. Every word out of this man's mouth had me dying...one moment he was saying the sweetest things and the next his dirty talking was next level hot.

Aurora is just the most lovable FMC, Her resilience was truly admirable through all she had been through.
Her son Emett was hilarious and I loved his little matchmaker schemes.

"He kisses me like he hates me. He holds me like I'm his."

"One cannot survive without a heart. And you have mine, Aurora. Where you go, I go."

*clutching my heart* *almost fainted from the sweetness*

✨ARC Review ✨

Born of Storm is the second instalment in Daisy Thorn’s Reborn series, following Born of Ice (2024). The book's central idea is a passionate, character-driven modern romance that is based on soul-deep connection, struggle, and emotional recovery.

The protagonists of the book are Aurora "Rory" and Severin "Sava" Minaev, two wounded hearts brought together by fate and circumstance. Severin is portrayed as a gloomy, storm-haunted hockey player whose easy grin conceals inner darkness, whereas Rory is shown as someone who is fiercely protective of her own heart, walls erected high from previous suffering. Their relationship offers a traditional slow-burning, thorny romance filled with secrets, emotional turmoil, and the push-pull of two people who are irresistibly drawn to each other. Born of Storm appears to explore the theme of love's ability to both calm and consume, much like a storm. The weather metaphor reflects the characters' inner turbulence, implying that facing one's inner tempest might be the only path to connection and serenity.

These two are like a match on fire when the slow burn dies off, and they really get stuck into the connection between themselves. But adding that sweet little boy in the mix really added to the book as a whole. Sava just doesn't love Aurora, he loves her boy too, and to see the connection between Sava and Emmett is really something special.

I couldn't put this book down when I really got stuck in, fans of slow-burning, angsty modern romance will love this novel, especially those who appreciate complex characters and emotionally intense storylines.

I want to thank Daisy and her PR Team for the opportunity to read and review Born of Storm

Born of Storm by Daisy Thorn🌩️🫀👦🏻🏒🥅⛸️💜

This book absolutely ruined me in the best way. Born of Storm was everything I didn’t know I needed and more. I could not put it down and fully accepted that my entire day was gone the second I started reading.

Also seeing Kira and Vassar as well as Katerina and Julius from one of my favorite Daisy series made me so ridiculously happy. I could not stop smiling while reading those moments.

Aurora and Severin are pure fate. No doubts, no questions, just meant to be. And Emett? Completely stole the show. I loved him so much it hurt.

The wait for this book was beyond worth it. Daisy brought Sava and Aurora’s story to life in a way that pulls every emotion out of you. You can feel how much care went into this story. Sava’s love for Aurora was instant, intense, and fearless, and the way he stepped into Emett’s life without hesitation had me literally melting.

Aurora is a total badass. After everything she’s been through, she deserved happiness more than anyone, and watching her finally let Sava in felt so earned. And Emett… that sweet boy had my whole heart from start to finish.🥹

This is not a simple love story. This is fate, destiny, and two lives colliding at exactly the right moment. If you want a book that emotionally wrecks you and stays with you long after the last page, this is it guys. 10/10 no notes. Just perfection.

Thank you for the opportunity to get the ARC. My reviews are my own honest thoughts.

I have loved Daisy's books since I stumbled upon her Loverly Cave series, and it was such a fun, happy read for me during my darkest moments. That series helped me through one of the most challenging times in my life. For that, I am grateful that Daisy is continuing to write because she is one of my auto-read authors.

Having said that, after reading the first book in this series - Born of Ice, and now this book? Daisy just became a favourite author of mine.

From the very first pages, I was completely swept away by the mystical, magical atmosphere of this story. The way Daisy writes is very poetic. I love the descriptions of storms and wind - they are entrancing. The lyrical, hypnotic description brought scenes to life. The mysticism is not just a backdrop; it is woven into the core of the story (hence the title), but there is that sense of wonder, which I find hard to describe unless you read this story. It's a work of art. I remembered feeling similarly in Born of Ice.

In this second book of the series, we meet Aurora (a single mom) and Severin (a bada** hockey player). But, to be honest, the actual star of the book is 4 and 3/4 years old Emett. We get to experience how both these two individuals feel, and an inexplicable attraction to each other, and take a leap of faith, with Emett's help, because otherwise, they would not.

So, if you love unhinged MMC, single mom, fighting their insta-attraction towards each other, chosen family, do give this book a read.

the way i absolutely tore through this book but then was also immediately devastated every time i realized how much i still had left BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT IT TO END! i know i DID NOT shut up about born of ice when daisy blessed us with those two broody booty holes last year, but SURPRISE here i am and i will be NOT shutting up about this little family of three for the foreseeable future. and no, i am NOT sorry.

when i say i could make endless posts and graphics that are literally just lines i loved that emett says, i am not exaggerating even a little. that kid is comedy gold. pure chaos. no notes. i loved how raw and filter-free he was, because truly he said whatever popped into his brain and i ate up every single second of it. this kid fully manifested mr. brick as his daddy and honestly?? the commitment. the dedication. the execution. you’ll have to read it to see all the stops this kid pulled out because it was unhinged in the best way.

the SECRET… listen. poor @delaneyreadit and @daisythornauthor had to endure my endless dms and full-blown meltdowns. every single time i thought i had it figured out, daisy said “lol but wait there is more” and added another layer of shock (with a side of more trauma for sava and aurora) that made the connection they shared even deeper and better and more painful in the best way.

you will feel all the emotions for all the right reasons, and daisy continues to keep me unwell, fully invested, and wildly in love with her worlds. i already cannot wait for our next player to join the reborn series but i am simply not ready to move on from this couple and nugget!

I have to say Emett stole the show. Don't get his age wrong. He is 4 3/4 years old not 4.

We HATE 🤬 Joey!!!! Oh and Severin's family.

Tropes:

🏒 Hockey Goalie MMC
💜 Slow burn
🏒 Light stalking
💜 He hates loving her
🏒 One secret
💜 Meant to be
🏒 Touch her and 💀
💜 Found family
🏒 He may steal her undies
💜 Some romantic suspense

Need more convincing:
There is two sides to Severin Minaev (AKA The Brick and Sava). Everyone sees him as the golden boy but Aurora sees the darkness in his eyes.
You have sweet:
“I promise, I’ll let you take me anywhere you’d like after the game. Any hospital, emergency room, or psych ward. I’ll follow you into he'll itself if that’s what you want. I’ll do it, but right now I need to be on that ice. For my team. For Emett. Is he okay?”

Then you have he flirty:
His eyes meet mine. “Friends? We can be friends, can’t we?”
Our bodies draw closer. “Friends?” I ask, slowly chewing out the word.
“Yeah. I can be a very good friend.”His gaze drops to my lips.
“I don’t believe you.” Mine mirrors his.
“Yeah, me neither…”

The books starts out with Aurora finding out she was pregnant right before she was to train for the Olympics. When she told the father he freaked out. Aurora ran from his place but on her way home she was hit by a car. She remembers the storm and the warmth. She has multiply surgeries including a heart transplant.

While Aurora is at her friends house Severin stops by. He takes one look into those green eyes and he is forced back to the nightmares he has every night. Not only does he feel something but Aurora does to. She feels the warmth and the sense of knowing him from another life.

At first it was confusing about Aurora talking about the lightening and storms but once I got further into the book I completely understood. Every time something bad was getting ready there would be a storm. What will happen when she is too tired to fight through the next storm??

Check trigger warnings.

Thank you Daisy Thorn for the early copy. Above are my honest thoughts.

First off I would like to thank Daisy for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Aurora & Severin
Y'all hands down this is my favorite book by Daisy. I absolutely loved everything about her. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time trying to put the puzzle pieces together and make sense of all the little pieces before the end. I can't say enough good things about this book. So do your self a favor and add her to your TBR now! Anyway I absolutely adore Aurora and her fight and strength she has within herself, while she is struggling with so much she still puts on this brave face for her boy Emett and I admire her so much more for that. Emett is the perfect kid ever. His humor and knowledge of life is so beautiful and well beyond his years, he is the heart of this story. Severin my man! I can't say anything bad about that man cause I'd give my life for him. He is this beautiful soul who hides himself from everyone behind his mask to keep his walls up and himself safe. I absolutely adore him 🫶🏼
Please read this book for my sake & Yours.

5/5 recommend this book. Y'all after finding Daisy on a whim for her book Born Of Ice, I knew in my soul I found a go to author for myself and she hasn't let me down since. I absolutely adore Daisy and her work but this book is her best work yet & I'm so thankful to know Daisy and can't wait for what is next to come. Check the warning before you read her.

ARC REVIEW
Severin’s story was one I’ve been anticipating since Born of Ice. From the beginning, Aurora and Severin’s fates felt deeply intertwined, and that connection was written beautifully.
Aurora’s journey was heartbreaking. After discovering she’s pregnant and expecting support from her boyfriend, she’s instead met with cruelty—he asks her to get rid of the baby and reduces her to nothing more than a plaything. In her attempt to flee, she’s involved in an accident that leaves her in a coma and in need of a heart transplant. Miraculously, her baby survives, and she receives a heart from a mysterious donor.
Despite being given a second chance at life, Aurora struggles with complicated emotions. Some days she feels grateful, and other days she feels disconnected, as though the heart beating inside her doesn’t truly belong to her. I loved this representation—it felt raw, realistic, and deeply emotional. You could truly feel her internal conflict on the page.
Severin’s arc surprised me. I expected subtle hints of depression, but what we were given was something much deeper and more complex, which added layers to his character and made his journey feel distinct.
One character I’ll forever adore is Emmet—my little shipper. From the very start, he knew exactly what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to push things in the right direction. His presence added warmth and quiet determination to the story.
Aurora’s strength deserves so much recognition. She raised her son largely on her own, cared for her father, and endured the added strain of dealing with her brother. Through it all, she kept going. She truly earned the happiness she received at the end of this story.
This was a powerful, emotional read, and Severin’s story lived up to every expectation I had.

It’s time for the second book in the Reborn Series!
This time we get Aurora’s story.

Aurora (or Rory to her friends) is a real fighter. She is a single mom to 4 yo Emmett (he stole my heart from the first page). Five years ago her world fell apart. She faced death, lost her chance in figure skating, took care of her sick dad, dealt with a horrible brother, and did everything she could to be the best mom possible!
Life trying to knock her down! Then, unexpectedly, Sava became the support she didn’t know she needed. Watching Rory slowly let him into her heart was beautiful.
Severin Minaev (or Sava) is a Russian hockey goalie. At first, he seems cold and mysterious… with very dark secrets. But there are two people, who can soften him: Emmett and Aurora. With them, he shows his caring side and will protect them no matter what. And his relationship with Emmett? Totally heart-melting! Cute and soft.
Daisy Thorn gives us all the feelings again: steamy scenes, tension and heartwarming moments You think everything is gonna be okay… and then BOOM!
Aurora and Sava are connected by fate and storm (love this). I kept wondering until the last page how they would handle decisions and dark secrets. The way Daisy Thorn led the story was totally unpredictable and amazing!
It was so nice to go back to Iris Lake. I really love this place!

And hmm..I also have one question to Daisy Thorn: Will Zima get his own book? 🤭

SEVERIN && AURORA

This book had so many twists and turns.
Hockey Romance
Single Mom
Tortured Pasts

Daisy Thorn is a new author to me & I’m obsessed!
The way she writes is so good. She has heartbreak, angst and everything needed for a great love story!
Sava is the good boy in hockey. But behind all of his smiles and good attitude on the ice, he has a past that no one knows about.
His dad being very powerful in Russia and losing everyone closest to him keeps him going.
For five years he’s been tortured by the storm and there’s only one person who can help him.

Rory’s a single mom. Her baby daddy wanted nothing to do with her or his baby, so he made sure he was never apart of their life. Between that, her drug addict brother and her dad suffering and having to take care of him, she’s tired. And she really doesn’t have time for a hockey guy who probably won’t stay anyway.

Little does she know, once gets her within reach, there’s nothing he won’t do to keep her close!

I love their love for each other.
I love her son’s love for him.
I’m obsessed with this story!!!

Daisy, your writing is amazing!! I can’t wait to read more!!

Reborn Series Book 2

Oh my lawd... the sheer amount of emotions you cycle through in one book! God has me absolutely stunned! In the very best way!

Born Of Storm follows Aurora after the worst night of her life she has learnt that you cannot dream 5 years on this still reigns true, however with a storm comes the unexpected, Severin has just been getting by, that is until he comes face to face with the eyes that plague his nightmares, but is that enough to keep him away.

This book keeps you on the edge of your seat from the get go, and have you gasping throughout, just when you think you are safe POW! You are wisked away in the storm of emotions and this book will leave you in a puddle.

Being book 2 we see the return of the all out favourites from book 1 and we see some more from the Outlaws and I cannot wait to see more from them!

I would highly recommend this book and the precious in the series especially if you want to feel all the emotions! For fans of Hockey Romance, Single Mum, Grumpy Goalies, Slow Burn, Touch her and ☠️, Found Family and some very delicious Spicy goodness.

My first arc read of the year and I'm absolutely blown away. As I said in my previous post, I waited patiently for this follow up to Born of Ice and it was worth every second of the wait. Daisy Thorn the amount of gasps that were gusped throughout this book were unmatched! I'll confess that I am really bad at guessing plot lines but this time I was sure I had it, until I found out I didn't 😂 The extent of the plot in this book was written to perfection 🤌

So Aurora our fmc, wow, what a badass single mum she is, I love her! The strength, determination and grit she exuded to be an amazing mum to possibly the cutest ever boy on the planet was inspirational, and I'm sure it will resonate with many single mum readers.

Severin or as I prefer Sava (absolutely love that name), be still my heart! He's a bit grumpy, possessive, doesn't care he's over stepping boundaries, has a dark side that he won't hold back when those he loves are threatened, and will leave you melted in a puddle in the floor. His relationship with Aurora's son Emett was incredibly sweet 🥹 and you can't help but just think yep, he understood the assignment!

There is nothing I didn't like about this story. It was everything I hoped it would be so there's no way I can't rate it as anything other than a 5⭐ read!

The emotional turmoil for these two....ugh, if you are ready for an emotional roller coaster of a single mom's life this is a MUST! I love Daisy, and I will always love Daisy, but she broke me with this bad boy. I loved Aurora in the first book in this series, but I didn't realize how much I needed her story line, let alone the magnitude of a connection between her and Sava.

Aurora is literally my hero. The amount of pain and suffering this single mother has gone through, you can't help but for fight for this fictional character so hard. All she wants to do is do right by her son, especially when her own life hasn't been easy. Letting in a man who always seems in turmoil around her is tough, especially when her child becomes attached.

Sava....this man can have my heart on a silver platter. I found myself rereading his chapters alone to feel for his character longer. He is the type of man that even though he fights their connection will still go to mat for Rory, and I LOVE that about him. His connection with her son instantly makes me swoon as well!

I absolutely devoured this book—no, binged it—in less than 24 hours and honestly felt like I died and went to heaven while reading it.

I met these two characters in book one, but getting their full backstories, seeing how they came together, and feeling every ounce of the angst and longing was everything I wanted and more.

Sava’s protectiveness over Aurora had me weak, and his relationship with her son? Completely to die for. The emotional depth in this story hit hard—tears were definitely shed.

I kept obsessively checking the percentage, desperate for more pages while also not wanting the story to end.

Daisy Thorn is officially an auto-read author for me. I cannot wait for the next book in this series—especially since the next MMC caused plenty of drama in this one. If you love emotional, protective heroes and heartfelt romance, this book is a must-read.

Have you guys read anything from Daisy Thorn yet? If not, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!

Born of Storm - my goodness. This is one of those books that sticks with you. It’s dark and sad, the kind of story that doesn’t shy away from pain or loss but somehow, it never feels hopeless. This is Book 2 in the Reborn Series and can be read as a standalone - I do love that Daisy weaves her stories into others (IYKYK).

Aurora’s journey as a mother is raw, aching, and deeply human. Her love for her sons is fierce and becomes her anchor in the darkest moments bringing unexpected humor and light that cuts through the heaviness in the most natural way. Those small, tender moments with her boys gave the story so much heart.

Sava is quiet intensity and restraint, shaped by his own storms and scars. The connection between Sava and Aurora builds slowly, steeped in shared pain, understanding, and the kind of healing that doesn’t come easy.

My FAVORITE Daisy Thorn book to date! Her writing in this one is poetic; there are beautiful metaphors for storms and winter. I spent a lot of this one teary eyed because there is so much pain in the female main character’s life. Aurora has been through it and she keeps getting up every day and trying so hard. Her son, Emett is adorable and definitely a bright spot in the story. The initial interaction between Sava and Aurora starts the whole journey of trying to understand how they are connected. It doesn’t come full circle until the last 5-10% and that kept me hooked until the end. I loved the connection between these two, it was just so powerful, and a little magical. I’m absolutely looking forward to the next book in this series. Highly recommend for lovers of high emotion, twisty stories, a little darkness, and high spice. Thank you to author Daisy Thorn for the advanced copy of this book.

Rating: 4.5 rounded to 5 stars

I just love how Daisy Thorn writes her stories! They're magical, whimsical and just something more. There is always this undeniable connection between the main characters and also just the right type of angst.
I loved this slow burn romance - Aurora is the strong fighter that would do everything for her family, Severin (despite his golden boy image) has a broken past and didn't realize that the best glue would be the one person he thinks would be his demise. And let's not forget about little Emett - to me he was the absolute star of this book.
And I really enjoyed the little cameos from other stories by this author.

I am really looking forward to the third story in the series and the surprising MMC!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Great addiction to the series!

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁. Picture this: a morally grey hockey player with a deep connection to a woman he can't allow himself to have. Aurora is a struggling young mom, trying to care for her son and sick father while also dealing with her brother's addiction problems. Severin has been quietly watching over her and her son from the shadows. She has no idea that destiny has already brought their lives together in a very unexpected way.

𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻 is slightly unhinged but hides it well. He’s willing to go to great lengths to ensure Aurora’s wellbeing. His love and borderline obsession for her make him a very dangerous man. It’s impossible to resist a character like Severin, especially when he’s down bad for his girl!

For fans of the single mom trope and morally grey characters, this is a great book. Big thanks to 𝗗𝗮𝗶𝘀𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗻 for this read. All thoughts shared here are my own.

I genuinely enjoyed this story and I don’t love darker romances. I’d give it 4⭐️ if it weren’t for the editing issues. We started off so strong and I thought for sure it was going to be better than book 1 and about 2/3 in the lack of proofreading became evident. Even then I said no worries until I hit an emotional scene where Severin—the MMC— is coming clean and the FMC’s dad is called Sam. The problem is his name is Seth every other time he’s mentioned. How did that happen again in this book?

The bright spot in this story was definitely Aurora’s son, Emett. Man he was adorable and innocent in a genuine way. I loved the drama of the storms and the sub plot with the truly awful brother. If we can get the editing issues under control, I know this series could be great.

Let me on the beta team. I volunteer to scour the manuscript for inconsistencies and grammatical errors.

This was a 3.5 star read.

It was a good story. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and seeing them bring their lives together.

She had had it rough. She’s been through it and is still fighting each day for that ray of sunshine. With a young son and a family to take care of she does what she has to. She fought hard. Both for her life and also her feelings.

He is trying not to fall. He’s trying to stay away and go back to being numb. Being from his family isn’t something he’s proud of. It’s taken everything. So he wants to be done. He falls just as hard if it harder. Then fights to keep her.

These two had some twists and turns to get through. Some tough moments and some hard truths. I loved that they loved hard and kept ahold of that when the tough times came for them.

I genuinely had no idea where the second book in this series was going to go, aside from knowing who the main characters would be, and I kind of loved being surprised by how it all unfolded.

It carried that same melancholic atmosphere as the first book, but with a darker undertone that I really enjoyed. There were so many beautiful moments, and both main characters go through so much individually before coming together to heal in the most tender, meaningful way.

One of my favorite things about this book, and the series as a whole, is how the romantic connection feels rooted in the gold string theory. They are fated, always meant to find each other.

That said, even though this was a slow burn, I wish we had a little more time to fully explore their relationship. At times, it felt like the FMC went from cold to hot a bit too quickly.

Emett completely stole my heart. He managed to stay sweet, innocent, and hopeful despite his circumstances, and he played the cutest matchmaker of all time.

I cannot wait to see where the rest of this series goes 🤭
Daisy Thorn is such an underrated author and truly deserves so much more recognition.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was completely and utterly enthralled with Born of Storm. I absolutely loved Born of Ice so I couldn’t wait for Severin and Aurora. Daisy does not disappoint. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the book, wanting and needing answers and let me tell you not all of them are what you are expecting. Do not make assumptions because not all of them will be correct.
You will absolutely love our hockey goalie and the single mom and let’s not forget the sweetest little man Emett (loved him)
The found family trope is heartwarming and the conversation between Sava and Emett brought tears to my eyes.
I absolutely loved this book and what an ending……can’t wait!
Thank you so much to Daisy and her team for this eARC in exchange for my honest review

Dual POV, Spicy, Single Mom x Goalie MMC, Light Stalking, Touch Her & Perish, Care Taking, Possessive MMC

From the glimpses we got of Severin and Aurora in Born of Ice on was on pins and needles waiting for their book and Daisy Thorn did not disappoint delivering an angsty romance that will send you through a roller coaster of emotions. The way Severin falls hard and fast for Aurora and her son while struggling with his feelings for them, vowing to himself to stay away but then watching and providing for them from the edges...swoon. Expect the sweetest four year old, tender care taking, a protective and possessive MMC, and spice full of emotion and tension.
