Eulogia

Rate this book
An unflinching and viciously intimate portrait of obsession between a heiress and a corrupt, calculating playboy. Set in the darkest corners of elite old money tradition, this novel is a decadent descent into privilege, control, and the brutality of intimacy.

Wealth is power. Power is control. And at Eulogia, control is everything.

Hidden in the forests of upstate New York, Eulogia Academy is where America’s most elite sons and daughters are groomed to inherit the world. But beneath the marble halls and candlelit chapels lies something far older—and far more dangerous—than privilege.

When Martine Huntington-Russell arrives for the Fall term, she doesn’t expect to fall for Hayden Herron, the cold, brilliant member of the Brotherhood of Death—a secret society whose influence reaches beyond politics, wealth, and morality itself. Their love is forbidden, intoxicating, and bound by secrets that could ruin them both.

Because at Eulogia, devotion comes at a price. And some vows can never be undone.

A dark academia romance drenched in opulence, obsession, and betrayal, Eulogia invites you into a world where legacy is lethal—and love is the most dangerous ritual of all.

Trigger warning - this book contains dark morally grey and mature themes including but not limited to, CNC, blood play, and drugging. Please proceed with caution.

DNF at 50ish%

My first DNF 😳. Now I want to balance being respectful because at the end of the day this is someone’s work and needing to stay within my values and being honest/transparent in sharing my experience…

That being said! Ultimately, my experience can be summed up to being marketed an experience and feeling an entirely different one..this had been marketed as a “pitch black” and “5 🌶️ spice” dark romance book- and THATS WHAT HOOKED ME, cause say less I’m there. However, while I had the privilege of being able to ARC read this- I noticed very quickly that I wasn’t getting either of those experiences PER MY DEFINITION OF DARK ROMANCE AND 5 🌶️ SPICE!

For me there were several plot inconsistencies that really threw me out of the story (timelines not matching, dialogue inconsistent despite that it was the SAME scene different POV, etc.) and left me questioning more and confused about what was going on to stay with it..this story also reminded me too much of the LORDS series without distinguishing itself. I’m all for stories being inspired but this one felt a little too on the nose for me? 😣 as for the spice…I recall the book being 25 or so ish chapters and the first spice scene being at like chapter 12? So definitely not 5 🌶️ PER MY RATING SYSTEM 🥺 and the characters just didn’t hook me in…Hayden felt very stereotypical of a lot of dark romance BF’s which is fine but nothing that stuck out as intriguing and Martine felt all over the place from one chapter to the next that I couldn’t get a real feel for who she was.

I hope this book finds its audience as im sure there will be people whom this book IS FOR 🩵 and would love the mess out of it!

yeah no, stopped after the 1st chapter because why does it feel like the author ran every single line through a thesaurus? why are you taking the longest route possible (aka sentence) just to describe something? why is she at her brother’s secret society, telling him to get her a drink, he said no and she immediately decides to walk home and run into the mmc who handed her a drink and she just drank it and its vodka?? and she got mad at HIM FOR GIVING HER VODKA? mainly, my issue was the writing style; but honestly i was trying to push through because maybe the plot’s good — goes to the author’s tiktok and her ENTIRE marketing strategy is “i wrote a dark romance with a morally grey mmc with lots of kinky smut and triggers, enjoy 😘” — maam what is the plot?

5 star read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Eulogia is Sisy Rich’s new novel releasing December 20th.

Like her name, Sisy Rich’s characters and the world they live in are exactly that - rich. A secret society set in a world of wealth and corruption upends and rules the FMC’s entire life. Martine learns to survive in a bubble of Hayden’s making, where all she knows is the push and pull of the storm that is Hayden Herron, and the life he allows her to live. Money, lies, murder and power are at the forefront of this book. Sisy Rich has a powerful way of building a world that you get lost in, and creating a romance that is dirty and intense beyond comprehension. Corruption is high. Spice level is higher. This is the type of book that you devour, and stays in your thoughts while you’re trying to sleep at night.

All the 5 star reviews on this one are crazy…like did we read the same book? World building? Nah—there is no world building lol unless you count naming the school as “world building.”

Overall I found the plot weak. It’s very confusing as to how old these people are—are they 18 or are they 28? The POVs jump around and are just generally inconsistent. Also over how many days is this book taking place? Is it 2 years? 2 weeks? It reads like it’s taking place over like 2 weeks. And for everyone calling this Stockholm Syndrome, it is incredibly rare to develop stockholm in a week or so. Now unless the timeline of this book is alot longer that it seems, then yea maybe.

Also the amount of SA in this book goes crazy. Maybe it’s just me, but dark romance doesn’t = SA. And this book has multiple instances of clear SA of Martine. This felt like it was trying to be a dupe of 50 shades of grey, but at least in that one Ana had a clear safe word and a contract of the things she would and would not consent to. Hayden SA’ing Martine to the point she passes out? Nah. Spicy scenes and darker spicy scenes are great, but not like this.

Hayden and Martine are BORING—there is no back story to either of them. All Hayden does is assault Martine and flex the car he is driving around. And we get it—Martine smells like green apples.

Idk definitely won’t be picking up the next one and would not recommend it.

4.5 ⭐️

this book made me understand how people end up with stockholm syndrome because hayden herron had me giggling and kicking my feet no matter how deranged he was being 🤭🫣

hayden is definitely dark, twisted, and morally grey; but has the deepest obsession with martine no matter how much he doesn’t want to. he will do anything and everything to protect and own her.

martine is left with nothing but hayden to cling to and has to decide if being his is worth her submission and devotion.

adding book 2 to the tbr immediately 🙂‍↕️

This is a 6 star read! The world building in this books is absolutely breathtaking! Sisy was not kidding when she said you are dropped in the middle of this world and no one owes you a single explanation about it! Now Hayden Herron…. Wow wow wow he has truly been one of the most well written yet fucked in the head MMC I have read in a very very long time. The writing captures you to where you are along side our FMC Martine and you are ready to follow the orders this man gives. Our angel Martine, I truly grew such a love for her and felt like I established such a good friendship with her because she would let us in and give us some background where others wouldn’t indulge, but at the same time we only could know what she knew and at times it felt like we were her!

Spice is truly sooo good and well written you can tell there was research done into some of the kinks that are explored and they weren’t written just to be written.

The plot kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I won’t lie and sometimes I skim books in between dialogue because I’m not obsessed but this book I devoured every single line, every spoken word, everything I WAS EATING THIS UP.

If you are looking for a book where from page 1 you are hooked, where the world and characters are cut throat and you can feel the tension as you read along, where you never fully get the answers you crave because THESE PEOPLE DO NOT OWE YOU ANYTHING but you are ok with it and want more of them ASAP. Then this is the book for you. I can’t wait for the world to dive into this dark corner of the universe and I am so thankful to Sisy and Courtney for allowing me to take a trip early to fall in love with this universe!!!!

May this love never find me, lol.

I think Sisy Rich (love that name) did a great job really engaging the reader with her writing. I found myself not being able to put the book down and I really enjoyed the overall quality of her writing. The dual point of views and timelines added a really interesting element to the story. They glimpses we got on how the Brotherhood operates were unsettling and makes me wonder just how deep their roots grow. I would have loved if Martine was involved a little more, I felt like she spent the majority of the book waiting around for Hayden. I found his constant secrecy a little frustrating and his back and forth between him and Martine felt a bit repetitive. I’m really hoping we see the girls play a bigger roll in the next book. The cards are no longer in their favor and the stakes are higher than ever. I think Hayden’s false sense of control and security is really going to bite him in the ass. The Brotherhood is definitely a group of people you don’t want to mess with. I’m very excited to see where the story goes!

Welcome to Eulogia college, where secret societies, power, money, secrets and betrayal is all around. You must swear your life to them to become untouchable.. as long as you follow the rules of the game. Is obsession and control another form of love and care? You get to decide. A dark Ivy League romance that pushes you to the edge only to be begging for more.

SPOILERS❤️‍🔥

You follow Martine and Hayden after her family gets murdered and he kidnaps her because he is OBSESSED WITH HER!! (like for years) and wants to full own her, the spice is DARK! He is a morally grey MMC that is DARK, sick and twisted and gets off on it. He wants her messy, broken and begging for more. You see her battle between giving in and keeping her pride. You see how the elite brotherhood works and it was SO INTERESTING! This is my first ever dark academia book and i ate it up! It goes go in between time lines and is book 1 in the series so there are going to be unanswered questions!!

i was honestly really interested in this at first and i think i might just not be in the mood for it at the moment. i wanted the girl to have a little more of a backbone with him instead of giving in to him all of the time and i wished for more on the secret society… but other than that i was really enjoying it!

OH, my gosh! I’m freaking obsessed with this book. I stumbled upon the authors tiktok and I’m so glad did. Eulogia took me out of my book slump and then put me in one after reading. Amazing imagery, such good plot to spice ratio and the spice was SPICING. She’s just as messed up in the head as me. I can’t wait til the next book in the series comes out!!!

Love a secret society! The dom and bratty sub main characters really bring you in. Their chaotic start of a relationship to a love that only they understand. Also enjoy the fact that it was NOT set in current times. Not a smartphone in sight. Can’t wait for the next.

Okay I found this book on TikTok and thought I’d give it a whirl because the MMC is “morally fucked” and indeed this is correct.

I didn’t expect to become OBSESSED with Hayden and Martine the way that I did. My jaw was on the floor most of the time while reading this. Their love is definitely a morally wtf constantly, but in the BEST way. The trope of their love is one I haven’t seen as in depth and I kind of loved it like the crazy reader I am 🙂‍↕️

The drama that the Brotherhood of Death continued to wrap around everything was immense and kept me ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT. And now I’m desperate to read the next one and continue peering into the lives of these Bonesmen

UGH Sisy how did you ruin me so good 😫 if you like Morally Grey/Black MMC’s like Kade Mitchell, Zade, Malachi or the Den of Vipers boys. You’ll probably LOVE this one

For a debut I think the writing is there. I did enjoy the story but I feel it is more wordy than what is needed. A lot of stuff being repeated. I love me a dark romance but I feel the MMC never really gave us a moment that he showed he cared for the MFC. Just too much treating her like an object and didn’t want her to be her own person. But I do feel there is a lot of potential with how it was written. I will give the next book a try.

4 stars. A strong debut with a lot of promise and room to grow.

Eulogia is a dark academia romance steeped in obsession, secrecy, and elite power structures. For a debut novel, there is a lot to admire here. The atmosphere is moody and decadent, the stakes are high, and the author clearly has a strong vision for the world she’s building.

I enjoyed the story overall, though it did take me some time to get through. The pacing occasionally slowed, and there were a few plot threads that felt slightly tangled, especially when it came to timelines and how certain events lined up. At moments, I found myself a bit confused about when things were happening and how certain pieces fit together.

That said, the darker elements and spice worked for me. I didn’t have an issue with how far the book went tonally, and the intensity felt intentional. I can see why this story will really resonate with readers who love secret societies, chosen girls, and morally gray power dynamics. It did remind me at times of the Lords series by Shantel Tessier, particularly in the structure of the society and its rituals, but I’m hopeful that future books will continue to carve out an even more distinct identity.

What stands out most is the potential. This feels like the foundation of something much bigger, and I’m genuinely curious to see where the story goes next. I’ll absolutely be picking up book two to see how the world expands and whether some of the lingering questions are answered.

A solid, ambitious debut with dark academia vibes and a lot of room to grow. I’m intrigued to see what comes next.

I wanted to wait a while to leave a review since I did have the opportunity to ARC read this new release. Like many others I was drawn in by the marketing! Secret high society, dark romance with 5🌶️ spice ?? Sign me up babe. Unfortunately, that was not the experience I was given.

This book has an incredible concept with very much a LORDS undertone. Which, hey, dark romance is dark romance and really i’m here for the similar tropes of it all. However the execution of the concept was just lacking. The characters were all over the place and we lost the plot that was never really established pretty early on. You really can’t read a chapter without falling into a plot hole. It was less of “these characters don’t owe you an explanation” and more, did you even know where you wanted this story to go?

Random and weird symbolism that wasn’t full flushed out, we barely get into the world of the secret society and what we do see is inconsistent and confusing. Even in a pitch black, degradation romance you want to root for the characters and see them evolve and become “happy” in their own f*cked up way - you will not get this here. Random characters get thrown in and tossed away for a side plot that maybe shouldn’t have been there - overall just too much and yet not enough.

I did finish this book because I just had to see for myself where this was going to go. If I hadn’t been an ARC reader, I would have dropped it early on. I’m not someone who puts down a book lightly, so to me that says enough.

I ate this book up. The plot was interesting at like 5% in and I was consumed. I really like that the books are set in the 90s. I think it's unique and takes out a lot of the technology aspect of later decades allowing you to really focus on the plot of this secret society. This is dark academia however this particular book did not take place much at college however I do think others in the series will have more of the college in the plot. Hayden is seriously unhinged and I would really love to know more about his past and what happened with his parents-it seems like it's related to the secret society. Martine was a well developed FMC-spoiled bratty rich girl who is looking for someone to tame her deep down. The spice is 🔥: dom/sub, bondage, punishment, degradation. This is definitely not beginner level spice. The chemistry was also really great between the characters. I found the plot interesting as well as the plot twists. I am super excited for book two because I really like Dale and am looking forward to knowing more about her. If you like the L.O.R.D.S. Series (Shantel Tessier) this series is also for you.

I gave this one 3.75 stars !

Eulogia by Sisy Rich was a solid debut, and overall I did enjoy it. The story itself and the foundation of the character were there but It was for sure lacking something for me. I did notice some inconsistencies between the two POV'S that pulled me out of the story at times, and it took a while for the plot to really find its footing.

I am 100% a slow burn girly but it really wasn't that... it took about nine chapters to before we really got into the story AND SPICE (this is a dark romance so 9 chapters is a lot), which felt a little slow for the the pacing of the story. Once things starting moving I was for sure more invested.

This was a strong debut with room to grow and I'm curious enough about where the story is headed and I'll absolutely be picking up book two.

If you love a dark romance featuring a possessive, obsessive, stalkerish hero who thrives on control, this one is definitely for you. Hayden’s unwavering fixation on Martine had me melting the entire time. The way he was all about her? Whew. 🫠

The tension, the power dynamics, the emotional depth — it all blended perfectly. And just when I thought I had things figured out, the plot twists hit. I genuinely didn’t see some of them coming.

By the end, every piece of the puzzle clicks into place, secrets are revealed, and everything makes sense in the most satisfying way.

Definitely check the trigger warnings 🚩 — this is dark romance through and through.

The spice? Absolutely piping hot 🥵🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I loved this read and would absolutely recommend it to anyone who enjoys their romance a little twisted and a lot intense.

Eulogia is an atmospheric, character-driven dark romance that had me hooked from the start. The relationship between Martine and Hayden is layered with tension, power struggles, and moments of vulnerability that feel both intimate and dangerous. Hayden’s internal battle is written so well, and Martine’s resilience adds real depth to their dynamic.

The brotherhood’s presence creates a chilling backdrop, making every scene feel like it’s happening under a quiet threat. Dale’s POV was an unexpected highlight, expanding the world and raising the emotional stakes even more.

This book is haunting, slow-burn in all the right ways, and beautifully sets up the next installment. I cannot wait for book two.
