I went to steal a god’s relic. Instead, I got magically handcuffed to the cursed prince guarding it.
Rule one of don’t get caught. Rule definitely don’t get caught by Vael Indriron—the academy’s cold, infuriating head of security with eyes like frost and hands that burn.
I broke into Blackspire to steal the Starstone. He caught me mid-heist. Now a divine binding spell links us—magic, heartbeat, and every reckless thought I try to hide.
We fight side by side. We train until midnight. We survive rituals that blur the line between danger and desire.
His control is perfect—until I push too far. Then the mask cracks, and I see the prince trapped beneath the curse.
He’s the heir of a doomed throne. I’m the thief fated to steal his salvation.
But the demon stalking these halls wants our bond—and his soul.
And when I finally fall for him, I learn I’m the weapon destined to destroy him.
This is the story of Astrin, a thief, and Vael, a half fae prince. When Vael catches Astrin attempting to steal a valuable artefact there are repercussions for both of them….
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and although it’s written in the first person I had problems telling who said what at times. By the time i was halfway through the book the plot still didn’t really seem to be going anywhere either. There are too many parts repeated plus mistakes like Astrin is wearing a skirt then back to trousers in the same sentence. I did finish the book but it was a struggle 🐈⬛.

"I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.” Veils of the divine. The narrator once believed Drakemire sought her obedience until they bound her to a warden designed to break her. Drawn into the Academy’s glittering but oppressive halls by her family’s downfall, she quickly learns that her beauty inspires fear, not admiration. When her pulse quickens and forbidden magic slips free, the Academy responds by assigning her Sorren Dareth: a cold voiced, disgraced heir with a reputation steeped in darkness. Linked by enchanted cuffs that inflict shared pain whenever they stray apart, the two are forced into constant proximity. Sorren sleeps near her to keep them both alive, shadows curling around them like sentinels. Their relationship begins in open hostility, but tension gradually evolves into something far more complex. Their clashes ignite with more heat than her volatile magic, and beneath the sharp exchanges, Sorren’s guarded demeanor starts to reveal glimpses of something wickedly enticing. When he pulls her close, it’s no longer to restrain her but to steady her and the connection between them deepens despite every instinct warning her away. Fear shifts into trust, and trust grows into a dangerous intimacy. Yet the cuffs they share conceal a deadly truth: they were forged for a kill binding. Only one of them can survive when the curse concludes. This series you keep reading and wanna know more! I’m craving for more! I love it!💛
I seem to have fallen into some feedback loop of a style of books where the "bond" between two characters is the plot. The writing is sensational and high stakes, but little actual plot and character development occurs. It's all "the bond flared between us" and "The bond burns me and everything goes black" type of writing. But as for descriptive plot, interesting events or intricate nuances of character and story, it is lacking. It's just chaos and spice and chaos and bond. Sorry, but that's not how to tell a story that grips and entertains.
Further, I realize I receive an arc, but I don't expect a first draft to be an arc given for review. The repetitive sentences, the switching of POV randomly in the middle of a chapter where it started with the other person narrating, the random continuity issues (like what they were or wearing).
I have read other books by the author that I did enjoy, so I'm extra disappointed with this read. This book was short but I kept putting it down because it did not hold my attention. Sorry not sorry.
When Astrin tries to steal the Starstone, she’s caught by Vael and taken to the Council for punishment. However, the Council decides to bind the two of them together and have them go after the demon killing students. Once again, author Nyra Silver takes a man and a woman, very disparate. After all, one of them is a thief and the other a fae prince. Then throws them together in a life-or-death situation. The world building is just right, not overwhelming in detail, but definitely enough to understand. The writing style pulled me into the story and the plot kept me there and of course, as this is a romance, we have the heartfelt sigh at the end.

Addictive, High-Stakes Enemies-to-Lovers Fantasy Romance! This book is an absolute must-read, guaranteed to hook you immediately and keep you glued to the pages! It is powerfully executed enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance featuring Astrin, a thief with forbidden magic, and Vael (Sorren Dareth), the cold, disgraced half-Fae prince chained to her. Their dynamic is electric, fueled by forced proximity and an ultimate threat: a kill-binding that means only one can survive their cursed bond. The tension shifts from arguments and snarls to undeniable attraction and compelling spice. Highly recommended for fans who love high-stakes conflict, dangerous magic, and an intense "just one more chapter" reading experience.
Loved the action and plot twists!! Astrin and Vael were thrown together as a punishment and possible way for demons to take over the Academy. Astrin and Vael just needed to embrace their fate that they belong together and combine their powers to defeat the demons trying to destroy the Academy and protect the students and staff. Then embrace their fate to be prince and guardian to protect the world and the future. They just needed to believe in themselves, their love, their powers and each other. Very encouraging!!!
Well this book sure didn’t disappoint. It’s pulling you in from page one. Threading you in with angst danger and intrigue. Is starts of with a bang and carry’s on. It’s full of dark academia with a big demonic twist. A gripping exciting read
