I didn’t realize how much reassurance I needed about things of faith in general, but particular about having a genuinely repentant heart towards sin as discussed in this book. For me it was surprisingly comforting, at many times while reading thinking “YES, that’s exactly how I feel/think!” but there were also real moments while I read that tested my honesty with myself and Jesus about my proactivity/reactions towards sin. John does an amazing job of explaining truth without holding back judgement as needed while esteeming Jesus as the highest source of mercy that he is. John also wrote this in such an understandable and coherent way that I doubt anybody could walk away saying they were confused at any point in this book. Definitely a top 10 book.
