How can he love a wife he doesn’t remember? Kingston West put his military service behind him much easier than most of the men he served with during the final war. As far as he was concerned, the cyborg who was Kingston 691 no longer existed. And the Cyber Husband program? He viewed it like he viewed having been a prisoner of war. Both were just service related memories he didn’t plan on recalling. The future was all he needed.
At least he felt that way until he discovered one wife’s file had been totally erased from his Cyber Husband records. Only her name remained in data storage, though her family swore they’d had a loving relationship.
To put the past completely behind him, King has to first find the now missing Seetha Harrington. Before he can enjoy his new beginning, he needs to find out why Norton took those seven years together away from both of them.
I am an active dreamer and find writing to be the best way to use my creativity. Needing to satisfy both sides of my brain, I have become a cross-genre author of contemporary, romantic comedy, fantasy, science fiction, and paranormal romances.
I feel blessed that my books appear on bestseller lists for humor, romantic comedy, space opera, and more. I crave laughter from all my readers and focus my attention on making that happen as often as possible.
I love to hear from anyone who has read my books. Each reader is a hero or heroine to me. I am inspired by you.
The scifi fan in me loves these books! I've read two in the series so far and I seem to be reading them backwards but it definitely is not taking my enjoyment of the series away.
Kingston has been the one I've wanted to read since reading Marcus's book. Not only did it measure up but I also love the fact that you get to see Kingston and Seetha fall in love all over again after Kingston's memory of Seetha is wiped clean. The romantic in my loves that he fell for her twice.
The crooked government plot twists make these books much more than a romance novel. I love how both books I have read are unraveling one big plot, a piece at a time. Great book, great series!

Kingston 691 the second book in the Cyborgs-Mankind Redefined Series by Donna McDonald was better for me than the first book. I love this series plot story of evil mad scientist turning cyborg soldiers into mindless robot slaves. It's something I haven't read in a series and it kept me entertained. This book had a faster pace and more action than the last book. I loved Kingston and Seetha both and felt they had a sweet love story. Although I love Peyton more he just had that something special. I still didn't get a clear picture in my head of either character's looks, the same as the last book. I really wish there would have been more details to their looks. When I can picture what the character looks like, I connect with them more, and they feel more real. While this book didn't end with a cliffhanger it ended with some unanswered questions that will be carried out into the next book. I really enjoyed this book I sat down and was up til 4am reading it to the end. I am looking forward to more books in this series, especially Marcus's book.
This is book two in the series and the first one I have read. I think it would have been much better if I had read book one first. I did like the two main characters. Kingston is really struggling with the changes in his life and finding a hole in his memories is not helping. His time with Seetha is what is missing. They have a nice story. I wanted more time between then before the HEA but it was a given they would get together. There is a set up for the next book in the series. It is one I will follow.
The hero in this romance is wonderful. He never flinches from reality and is a warrior and a chef.
The heroine is interesting as she is now after having experienced prison/work camp but I never quite settle in with who she was before. The romance is less satisfying than it could be because her love of him comes from the time before which he gets back in memories slowly so we don't get the falling in love bits so important to a romance with her being less defined.
There is plenty of action here and good world building.
As far as Kingston West is concerned the Cyborg who was Kingston 691 no longer exists and the future is all he needs until he discovers that he had a loving relationship with a wife that has been wiped from his memory in this thrilling sci-fi romance.
King needs to find out why Norton took those seven years away from him and Seetha and the readers can’t help but get caught in this gripping romance as King sets out to put the past behind him and begin a his new life. The chemistry between Kingston and Seetha has Kingston scrambling to put unexplained feelings in their proper place but that’s not easy for him to do with his cyborg genetics and Seetha doesn’t know if she can handle a second heartbreak which has some strong emotional turmoil flowing from the pages and gripping readers by the heart. The characters are strong and easily draw readers into this fast paced, smooth flowing story full of suspense, excitement and romance.
The story grabs reader’s curiosity from the very beginning when King is confronted with the fact that he had a loving relationship with a wife that Norton had erased from his memory and in the same conversation is told that Seetha Harrington is missing and the excitement continues to build as King and his other team mates set out to find her and discover just what Norton is up to with some unexpected twists keeping everyone guessing. The scenes are well written with vivid details that it’s easy for the reader to become engrossed in the story and the characters’ lives while the intriguing events keep them glued to the pages.
I haven’t read the first book in this series yet, but I had no problem understanding the world or the characters motivations in this fascinating futuristic world full of interesting elements and an intriguing plot and I can’t wait to read more of the Cyborg’s story to find out if they are as sexy as Kingston and capture my heart as much as he did.
Donna does it again. I'm used to hating cybermen (courtesy of Dr. Who), but her cyborgs are yummy! This is the second book in the series, and Kingston has been converted back to civilian status and has opened an opulent restaurant. He had been part of the Cyber Husband program, and was able to recall 3 of his 4 "wives"; however, his 3 wife's file was not available to him. Not enjoying puzzles, I doubt the man ever listened to the word "no", he had been in the process of acquiring information about her when his 4th wife, Annalise contacted him at the restaurant, offering the carrot that his 3rd wife had been Seetha Harrington, her daughter. And Seetha disappeared shortly after she had returned King to the Cyber Husband program. It seems that she had fallen in love with him in the 7 years they had been together, had kept him from being updated and reprogrammed for the last 5 years, and when she finally ran out of options and money to keep him from the rebooting, she couldn't stomach the "robot" that was returned to her. When King had left, he was very human, upon his return, not so much.
Annalise hadn't heard from her daughter since she disappeared 2 years ago, shortly after King was returned, and she asked King to please see if he could locate her. Since this fit right into his plan, he took up the challenge and with the help of his fellow cyborgs, began to track her down. This is a great thriller/romance, and I finished it in one sitting. Had to make sure everyone survived!
It would help to read the 1st book, Peyton 313, to be introduced to the cyborgs and Dr. Kyra Winter, who is their savior, but this can be read as a stand-alone.
I'll definitely continue my journey into the cyborg world, and I think you would enjoy the trip too!

Oh I love me some cyber husband !!! What a brilliant read !!. This was book 2 in the series and our leads are King(ston) and Seetha. Basically the military and they government decided that soldier's should become "cyber husbands" to the highest bidders. Programmed to obey, they are the prefect Stepford husbands......until they are freed.
King and Seetha were married this way, she bought him out of loneliness after falling for his picture. It didn't take long for her to feel guilty about how men were being sold into a husband slavery. Seetha did everything she could to try to buy King's contract, so he would not have to return for his yearly upgrades and maintenance.....mind wipes and re-starts for another year. The best she can do is hold off on these yearly upgrade. Years pass and once the cyber husbands are freed, Seetha joins what she thinks is voluntary work abroad to help her crushed heart.....except its not what she thinks.
The story unfolds with Seetha's mum asking King and his buddies (also former cyber husbands) to help her find Seetha. King does and their attraction begins......but King doesn't remember Seetha and their love. Can Seetha's fragile soul deal with facing the man she loves who has no recollection of her ?
You will have to see......
I loved this book, every single page !!. Well done Donna and many thanks for this opportunity xx
This is a really good series. Intelligent and well-written. The underlying story is ongoing, so start with Book 1. Book 3 releases at the end of April 2015.
Kingston was bought by Seetha Harrington and took care of her as a "husband" would the first 2 years on his contract. Then something amazing happened King and Seetha fell in love. She kept him from going in for adjustments she was afraid of what they would do to him. One day she had to send him back. When she got him back he didn't remember her or anything. She kept saying they had married and loved each other but no one but her mother believed her. Broken hearted she went away to try and regain control but she was captured and imprisoned. Lots of ethical issues being dealt with in this series. Biggest one is are Cyborgs human or machines? Are they property or free? The people trying to control everything are pure evil. Business working hand in hand with the government with no regard for cyborg lives to them everyone is expendable. Nothing is sacred. I got so angry at times because of some of the things done to the cyborgs and the people they fall in love with. Great book. Great series Loved it!
I think I liked book 1 a little more than this one. Peyton in book 1 was more compelling for me to like him. There were a few points in the first half that flowed super slow, almost enough to lose my interest. Kingston has some moments that just didn't work for me in order to like him as a hero character more. I didn't like Seetha as much as Kingston either. I felt that the characters were not as developed as they could have been. Other than the missing memory for Kingston, and some random facts, like he likes to cook, or that Seetha disappeared & she's an engineer & works on the bots/droids/cyborgs & had a melt down over Kingston being updated & losing his memories before disappearing, I just didn't feel like I got to know either of them. I also agree with another reader's feedback, I'd like a description, other than they were super tall & she lost over 100 pounds in the prison. I'd like to know their hair color, their looks, etc. to help me visualize the characters. I would consider reading Marcus' book (#3) at some point.
INTELLIGENT, CAPTIVATING, SEXY AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!! Title: Kingston 691 Series: Cyborgs: Mankind Redefined Designation: Book Two os Series, Standalone, No Cliffhanger Author: Donna McDonald My Rating: FIVE DIVINELY ENTERTAINING STARS***** Oh my! Another winner from Donna McDonald! Kingston 691 is the second riveting book in the Cyborgs: Mankind Redefined series by Donna McDonald and she totally rocked my world - again! I became a diehard Donna McDonald fan last year after reading Peyton 313, the first release in this amazing series. I adore a sexy romance, fall head over heels for anything with suspense/intrigue, and love an intelligent science fiction/fantasy tale but combine those elements into one fabulous read and I'm in heaven, especially when they're well done and Donna McDonald is definitely a master of her trade. Although this is the second book of the series, it can most definitely be read as a standalone and does not end in an actual cliffhanger but there is a common underlying premise, conflict and continuing storyline that runs throughout the entire series. The author does a remarkable job of including sufficient backstory so that all of the books can be enjoyed as standalone reads. The first book featured brilliant cyber scientist and cyborg code co-creator Dr Kyra Winters and dashing Marine Captain Peyton Elliot aka Cyborg Peyton 313 who both reappear in each subsequent release along with several other characters who were also introduced in the first book. The sexy cyborg heroes featured in the series are a combination of genetically and bionically engineered super soldiers who were cybernetically imprisoned, reprogrammed, enslaved and sold as 'Cyber Husbands' after aiding the United Coalition of Nations to end a near apocalyptic global war. Dr Winters and her team are working diligently to rescue, reprogram and restore the humanity of all the cyborgs whose freedom, memories and life were stolen by Norton Industries. But their efforts are being sabotaged by a corrupt unknown entity seeking power and wealth, and covertly engineering the failure of Dr Winter's campaign to free the cyborgs and reintegrate them back into society. Each book in the series deals with a different restored cyborg finding true love while attempting to recover their humanity and regain a semblance of balance in their new life. Each couple do get their happy ending but all of the books follow a unified underlying plot in which an unknown enemy wants their efforts to fail. And in this book, they also want the lovely intelligent Seetha Harrington completely out of the picture, out of the way and out of the life of her former cyber husband Kingston 691, now restored restaurant owner Kingston West. For the last two years, she's been falsely imprisoned by Norton Industries in a mining work camp and treated as nothing more than a slave. Unfortunately, now someone wants her dead. Oh my! Will Kingston and his comrades somehow manage to locate and rescue Seetha before it's too late? We'll see!
The story is well researched, well crafted, well executed and exceptionally well written and edited. The language and science is imaginative yet realistic. The characters are well developed, engaging, endearing and surprisingly, at times, laugh out loud funny. They exploded from the pages, came to life in my mind and completely stole my heart. I cried for them, empathized with them and sometimes, laughed with them. I became completely vested in their well-being and survival. I especially loved the added elements of romance, mystery, intrigue and suspense that are brilliantly interwoven into the story. The dialogue is smart, witty and flows effortlessly. And the premise for this entire series is a stroke of genius. We all know that real life research and inventions often mimic science fiction, and although the general public may not be aware, bionics and AIs do already exist so who knows what they future may hold! The two protagonists are Master Sergeant Kingston West aka Cyborg Kinston 691 and beautiful, intelligent engineer Seetha Harrington. These two characters play off each other brilliantly and their sexual chemistry is off the charts. Their interaction is seductive and arousing but their relationship is also so much more and I don't mean just more sex. It's sexy without the nonstop sex, if that makes any sense. Don't get me wrong, there are sex scenes but these two characters have a past connection and despite the odds against them, reunite to form an even stronger and deeper connection that's based on more than just physical attraction. It's obvious that they actually like and care about each other, and I really love that about this story. The relationship and situation with the couple in each book is different, unique and not cut from the same cookie cutter mold so it always keeps me on my toes never knowing what to expect. I love that about this series! I found myself on the edge of my seat, glued to every page with my heart pounding and gasping for my next breath. I was immediately drawn into the story, completely immersed, happily lost in a wonderful new adventure with hours passing as minutes and completely unaware of the passage of time.. It was utter perfection! I loved it!
If you love cyborg science fiction, romantic suspense, spine-tingling intrigue and thrilling adventure, then I highly recommend trying this remarkable series. It's divinely entertaining! What did I love about this story? Everything! What didn't I like? Not a darn thing! Would I recommend this book? You bet and I am! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! Just as soon as I can one-click the next book in the series. Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! I can hardly wait to read Books Three and Four which have already been released.
In this world soldiers have been turned into Cyborgs to fight in wars. But after their service they were made to do other menial jobs like instant husbands for rich women. They were however, always being controlled by Norton, their creating company to some extent. Seetha and Kingston made theirs a real marriage. Until his memory of her was erased and her heart was broken.
I enjoyed King's relearning about women and the subtleties of human interaction. Seetha is so smart but in her broken state assumed to be weak. But Seetha is not weak. This book has the perfect mix of action, witty banter, a sweet sexy romance. A super geek girl read.
Mind bending. However I can see the government and the corporate world doing something like this and us citizens allowing it to happen. The book is excellent can't wait to read the next book.
Two books in two days because this series is so awesome! I love the recovery of the very human emotions and the very real need for some or even most military members to have Counseling when they return to the normal world.
I must say i love these tough tough Cyborgs who realize they have hearts and find love. You also have action along with your fun, anger, laughter, screaming and romance. I would defiantly recommend this series!!
And okay, here it is, my confession: the idea of soldiers being turned into male escorts against their will SO EFFING CREEPY but I couldn't. Stop. Reading.
That's right - Donna McDonald's concept of men being enhanced with machinery, and then taken over by programming (at corrupt directive), forced into pleasure companion contracts with women who pay for "husbands"... FASCINATING. They are implanted with programming so they learn what pleases their contractor holders, and they make the responses & complete the actions that keep their contract holder happy. Can you imagine having a handyman/mechanic/nanny/grocery-runner/maid/masseuse/comedian/therapist/sex stallion who never gets tired, never gets hurt, never gets angry, never beats you, never cheats, never... gets affected/plagued by all & sundry that plain old human do? Again, fascinating - but HORRIBLE. These were once soldiers who may have signed up for their country, but they sure didn't sign up for this. And now they have no will of their own.
Even their memories are stolen from them.
Super, super creepy. You can totally see people taking advantage of this, and of course in this book, they have.
King & Seetha had a great backstory. I wish I could have delved more into the bones of it, into the process and how they came to be honestly attracted to each other, but it would be difficult to tell the story if one half has seemingly (since of course he jumps his programming & actually falls in love until the government wipes his hard drive & takes EVERYTHING from him) no inner personality or whims of their own. I could totally see this concept being written as a dark romance - uncomfortable, painful, harrowing, but addictive in the extreme. McDonald's writing style was a little different than I'm used to, but I am having a difficult time articulating how. "Vague" brings a negative connotation, and it would be inaccurate. I guess the pace moved over elements that, as mentioned, I'd have liked to learn more about. Ever listened to Inoperative: Cyborg One? That is a super short audio, BUT it gets it's Cyborg world set up and told in the most fabulously fast paced fantasy I think I've ever heard. Loved it. The story was told well, everything you *needed* to know was there, I just wished (selfishly) for more of it. Not needed, just wanted. And I guess McDonald's was kind of like that - really neat when an author can keep you thinking.
I received this ARC for free in return for my honest opinion. I have been on an AI kick lately, and this was a great book to whet that appetite. I will be looking up the rest of the series after enjoying this one!
What would you do to regain your past? King has just found out about an ex wife that he never knew about. All the memories of her have been wiped from his mind but why just her? She has gone missing and he has promised her mother to find her. Seetha has never gotten over King she always hoped that he would remember her after his re boot but he was a different man. She knows that he time is coming to an end she won't be kept alive forever, she just can't understand why she was taken in the first place? King has saved her but he can't remember so much about their time together but he knows that she just can't leave her be, she needs to leave her alone she can't go through all that pain again. The more King learns about their time together the more he realizes that he has to fight for Seetha he needs her. Can they find a way to work through the past and see if they might be able to have a future together. All the restored cyborgs are still in danger as most of their chips have been tampered with and who knows when they might turn into killing machines? Can the team help them again? A great story full of action, new beginnings and forgiveness. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.
This is another hit for the Science Fiction/Fantasy Cyborgs: Mankind Redefined Series. Kingston 691 by Donna McDonald is book two but it is not necessary to read this series in order. I know that well since I read Marcus, book three first before I read Kingston. There is only the overall theme repeated from one book to the next which is that of enhanced warriors being reconditioned for civilian use, soon more sinister forces come into play. Even with the repetitive of the premise it is not redundant since each cyborg faces different obstacles to finding true love. Kingston had found his but it had been taken away from him. Kingston is easy to like, wouldn’t we all like to be the one who is unforgettable? He may be a scientifically altered cyborg but a very bewitching one.
Well-written, solid plot that is believable in the world created by Ms. McDonald. For Kingston and his “ex-wife” there is immediate danger and long term danger as corrupt individuals are involved. Kingston 691 is suspense and romance blended into an absolutely pleasing read.
Copy provided by the publisher through Net Galley for an honest review.
I was fully able to enjoy the story of King and Seetha without having read the first book in the series. The series takes place at some point in the future when artificial intelligence, robots, cyborgs and such are commonplace and easily accessible if rather expensive. King has been released from the program he was conscripted into, has a restaurant and has files on the four women he was previously a cyber-husband to…except…Seetha. His search for her leads to a rescue and stirrings of feelings he cannot understand. With time will Seetha and King develop true feelings for one another? Will they find out who the bad guys are and what is really intended for the cyborgs supposedly being allowed their freedom? There are more cyborgs that need to have their stories told and I look forward to reading their stories as they are published!
Thank you to NetGalley and Broad Universe for the copy of this book to read and review.
Having loved the first in this series, I could not wait to get my hands on this one, it did not disappoint in any way. The storyline is engrossing, the sensual parts erotic without being distasteful and I simply cannot wait to see what happens to Marcus in the next book. I just could not put this book down, I read until gone 2am and even then had to force myself to turn the light off and resume my reading the following day. I was drawn into the story so skillfully, that even I wanted to do something untoward to Dan by the end of it! I am sure you will like it and Donna McDonald, please do not ever stop writing.
It looks as if I read this book in one day, though I have to say that is simply due to having forgotten to add it to my TBR list.
Kingston 691 was a pure delight to read. While I loved Peyton and thought he was the perfect beginning to Ms. McDonald'sCyborgs: Mankind Redefined series, it was King who stole my heart. Who doesn't love a big, sexy man who can cook and has a heart of gold. As King struggled to regain his memories and rediscover what he had with his wife, I couldn't help but root for them. His tenderness with Seetha made my heart swoon, as it was obvious these two had a past that once rediscovered, would turn their worlds upside down, but in a good way. I loved this book very in depth and lots of action x
This book Is on my .·:*¨¨*:·.*Super*6*Stars*.·:*¨¨*:·.OMG LOVED IT SHELF AT HOME alo it got 41/2 stars its still an amazing book which deserves to be re read. I will be buying and reading more books by this author. Donna McDonald is amazing story writer the words that flow making the story around the character's is smooth and makes you connect with each and every person I feel for them all which I can only do with some authors. The story has depth, romance, be-trail, suspense and I couldn't put it down books that get super 6 stars these books are special only books that have that special something that's bonded me to the book and in this case author ..I wish her well with your future books which I hope to read (soon :-)
Book two in the series, Cyborgs: Mankind Redefined, is a quick, entertaining read that continues the story from book one (Peyton 313) but it could easily be read as a stand alone too, although I do think you would get more from it if you read them in order. This is more of a love story than the first book was, it still has a few twists and threads of the continued conspiracy running through it but it was not as captivating or as developed as the first book. The characters are appealing, humorous and draw you into their lives but I would have liked more depth and development in the action and plot so that the series remained more than just another cyborg love story. Overall it was an enjoyable romantic story that retains the potential to be something more complex as the series continues.
Wow Kingston 691 is an amazing addition to the Cyborgs: Mankind Redefined series. Don't get me wrong Peyton and Kyra's story was amazing but Kingston stole Peyton's thunder. *grins*
Seetha Harrington was once lucky enough to have loved and lived well, that was until her life took a change. King is charming, thoughtful and a wonderful cook and not bad to look at either. *grins* Both are strong characters, Seetha surprised me by being so in-tuned to who she was. A perfect match up.
