Seattle Strike #1

The Game: Seattle Strike Series, Book 1

Rate this book
One night with the grumpy quarterback was all I wanted. It's been years, but now that we work together? I have to cross my fingers he doesn't recognize me....

If the team owner wants my PR skills to polish Logan King's grouchy attitude, then that's what I'll do. He'll take the team to the playoffs, and I'll make him shine for the cameras.

His famous frown doesn't deter me. His incredible body can't tempt me. Getting a promotion is all I care about when my parents' debt hangs over my head and my childhood home is in the balance.

Until banter fills our meetings, and he studies my curves like he wants me in his bed again. When he becomes the one person I can rely on, I almost give in.

Except caring for my parents leaves no room for anyone else. Not even the man I'm falling for. Heartbreak is the last thing I need.

First and foremost THANKS to Leonor for providing me with an ALC in exchange of an honest review.

The Game has been on my TBR for a while now, I got the book on my kindle, and I was waiting for the perfect moment to read it, when I saw the audiobook was announced, I jumped into the opportunity, and I am so glad I did. I loved this book, I loved Evie, and Logan. Their ONS years before the main events of the book set place was a great way to see and feel their chemistry. Evie was a FMC that I could 100% relate to, I understood her fears and apprehension to start anything with Logan. I adored the way she was loved by him, it gave me so much comfort. Logan was a cutie pie, and he cared for Evie in a way that was both firm yet malleable. A slow burn that for me was worth all the wait.

Something about this book, or maybe Leonor's writing is how she is able to create cozy, low-conflict stories that still hold space to see growth in our main characters in a real and beautiful way.

I REALLY enjoyed the narrators, I think they did a great job with how they delivered the story. I do have to say I preferred how the female narrator did the "male voice", way more than how the male narrator did the "female" voice. I think it's the only reason I don't give the full 5 stars.

Thanks again to Leonor, PLEASE check this book out.

I really enjoyed this book! I’m a big romance reader and this hit all the right notes. There’s som steamy scenes, good chemistry, strong character development - enough so that you understand the potential hold ups without there being some dramatic external conflict in the plot.

Evie as our FMC was so relatable as an eldest Latina daughter. Not to mention other life choices that struck true for me personally. Logan was the perfect brooding, quiet, grumpy and misunderstood MMC. Their banter and interactions from the ONS all the way to the start of present day were so good - real, witty, and always a bit of a spark.

Knocked back a star only because it felt slightly unrealistic to have our pro athlete MMC go from being so closed off and skeptical, generally uninterested in relationships, to head-over-heels and pining pretty quickly. The story overall felt a lot more realistic and down-to-earth as opposed to super soapy, rom-com feels so that one character shift felt out of place, even though it was so sweet.

it was easy to follow.
Whitty Characters
Very SPICY! In alllll the right ways

but I felt like it was rushed love story. It could have gone many ways and I think it was the wrong way. Don't get me wrong it was easy but the character or found family arch just wasnt there like i expect from a sports romance book
