I’ll stop at nothing to get him back.

Sometimes what you’re waiting for has a funny way of being right in front of you for a long time. Albrecht Holleran is one of those instances. I know that his broody, moody, assholery is the mask of a man struggling. Over two years, I’ve pried that mask off and we became friends.

Nearly coinciding with the birth of my son, Brek and I began to explore something growing between us. Then he vanishes and it’s a race against time to find him before his expiration date. Everyone knows that the longer someone is missing, the chances of finding them alive lessen.

Doing what I do best, I track Brek’s movements and find that I couldn’t possibly expect a worst case scenario. I’m better behind a desk; my weapon of choice is my computer. But nothing will stop me from getting Brek back. Even if we all die in the process.

Crea lives in upstate New York with her dog and husband. She has been writing since grade school, when her second grade teacher had her class keep writing journals. This, of course, is how most of her meant-to-be-thrown-away characters tend to end up front and center - and utterly swoon-worthy! Don't ask her how many book boyfriends she has...

Van Doren is by far my favourite of Crea's series and I enjoyed this instalment so much! This was a book of two halves in the best way, and although I wanted more when this ended I can't wait for the next one.

Brek was so relatable for me. I also think this is one of the best representations of sexual and romantic fluidity that I've read. We start with Brek having come to terms with being aroace and finally feeling settled in his life, but then things happen that make him reevaluate and look deeper into who he is. He also accepts that things may well change for him again in future but for now he identifies in a different place on the aro and ace spectrums. It felt believable and realistic - I went on the same journey but in the opposite direction after discovering all these terms when I first started reading MM books! Brek is always going to be a favourite Crea character for me.

Voss amused me and I'm jealous of all his ADHD seating options!! I need to look into that asap for myself and my kid 😂 I also really enjoyed Voss becoming a parent and truly realising he's incredibly lucky to have his resources.

When we hit the halfway point things get brutal and dark - as expected in a Van Doren book! It was rough reading what Brek had to go through but I do hope Malcolm gets a story in future.

Definitely a favourite in the Van Doren series!

I enjoyed Brek and Voss’s story. I also just love The CreaVerse really. She speaks about her stories as soap operas in her mind, and they do come off like that as well. There are so many wonderful stories and characters, and many are interconnected.

I could not wait to read more about Brek and Voss, especially knowing what we know from previous stories.

This was wild, well the first part, with Voss, Axl and Brek. Their relationship was really unique and super new. I hope in the future we hear more from them.

The 2nd part of the book had me clutching my chest. It would not be a Van Doren book without the usual shenanigans, chaos, and action.

Phew, that was a wild ride.

“Thanks for being my villain,”

I’m also so intrigued with Kairo, Arath, Azaln, Daddy Jalon, Levis, lol so many, can’t wait for more books lol

Great book.

Can’t wait for more from Crea

Thankful for this arc

Voss and Brek story it was a slow burn. And until things started to get real. With feelings in the future, creeping up quickly. There is a big kidnapping that happens that changes everything. I like how Voss is there for Brek discovery his sexuality. And that he’s a very patient and understanding person. And I like how Brek finally realizing there’s nothing wrong with him. And that he’s fine to discover himself and it does not matter how long it takes. And that there’s people out there that actually appreciate him for everything he’s done. Also, like their relationship dynamic, because Voss won’t push Brek to be a parent. For the Van Doren family you’re learning more about who they are, and who they’re trusting to be a part of their family. And what it really means to be a part of their family and how they protect and keep each other safe. And the fact that you get hints on who the next couple is going to be. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

I finished this book in 24 hours. Thank you, Crea, for writing another amazing story.
I hate to think that things like this could actually happen in the world, but with the way this current administration is going, who knows.
I feared for Brek, but I'm so glad he had Malcolm there to guide him. I'm excited to see where the Van Doren's go next!

Voss (Van Doren Book 4) by Crea Reitan is the latest installment in the Van Doren series.
It’s a gripping m/m romance with elements of suspense, hurt/comfort, and high stakes drama, focusing on Albrecht “Brek” Holleran and Voss Van Doren.
We’ve met both of these characters from previous books, and although I wasn’t too keen on Brek (he did something that put him on the outside of the group!) I came to understand him more by the end of this book.

The Van Doren series follows a quirky, family group of characters (often with mafia, criminal, or intense action undertones) in interconnected stories. Along with a group of friends that act like family.
Previous books like Loren, Noaz, and Imry have built up anticipation for Voss’s story.

This one centers on a slow burn friends to lovers dynamic that’s been brewing for over two years. Voss has patiently chipped away at Brek’s “broody, moody, assholery” mask to reveal the struggling man underneath.

And just as things heat up (around Voss becoming a father), Break disappears, kicking off a tense race against time to find him alive! 😧 (the story of how Voss became a father was introduced in the last story and it ends on this one.)

Voss steps out of his comfort zone (he’s more of a computer guy than a field operative) to track Brek, uncovering a worst case scenario that threatens everyone involved. The stakes are life or death, with themes of obsession, protection, redemption, and the fear of losing someone just when you’ve finally connected.

Crea Reitan is probably my favourite m/m writer. She has heartfelt characters, found family feels, chaotic energy, and spicy romance.
And I’ve been eager to read Voss’s story, especially after teasers in books like Imry. 😜

If you enjoy m/m romances with a dark edge, slow burn tension turning explosive, and heroes willing to risk everything, this is a strong addition to the series (and probably my favourite after Loren/Oakley’s story)

Expect heavy triggers (violence, kidnapping/abduction themes, emotional trauma), graphic content, and some crossover elements (so although not necessarily a must, it’s helpful to know the dynamics reading the prior books.)

If you’re caught up on the series, Voss looks like the emotional and thrilling payoff i have been waiting for. 🥰 Brek not believing he is worthy of love, and Voss patiently showing him that he is.

And the other thing I love about the author’s work, she makes no apologies for her “world”, if you don’t like it, then don’t read it. And the insights to her thought process have me hooked.

We know most of the Van Doren’s and we know they will/have hooked up with Brek’s “found” family. But that doesn’t stop the author from introducing more Van Doren’s into the mix (and I can’t wait for their dad Joren, to meet his partner.)

So, will Voss find Brek before it’s too late? Can Brek accept the love and feeling of belonging that Voss offers?

Highly recommend, I love this series probably the most out of all the writers series (with the exception of her “For Puck Sake Series.)

This was a mix of sweet found family and friends to lover's romance, with amazing insight into finding out just how you identify, and how that can change over time. I loved how Voss helped Brek to figure out who he was, and that sometimes gender, sexuality and identity can be fluid over your life, and that what you describe yourself as being at one point might not be where you end up when you meet your person.

But then the last third of the book hits and you're taken on an emotional, action filled, sit on the edge of your seat narrative that I could not put down until the mystery was solved. Part of me wants to say that this was almost two completely separate stories - that the more suspenseful story didn't belong with where Voss and Brek's romance started. But I was hooked. Do I think the third act came out of nowhere? Yeah. Do I feel we never truly got explanation as to why the events happened? Definitely. But did I still absolutely devour the story? You bet.

I love that Voss is open about having ADHD, and his explanation of his experiences with it mirror my experiences. As Reitan states in her foreword, not all people will be seen by Voss' particular brand of ADHD, but I did. And I love how well it was represented, and being able to see myself in a character so clearly.

Brek definitely got his redemption after the events in Loren, and I loved getting into his mind to find out why he reacted that way. His growth over the series - as well as in this book specifically - is amazing, and I'm so glad we got to read his journey, and I love that it was with someone as patient and understanding as Voss.

I love that the truth of the Van Doren family has finally come out to Brek and his friends, even if it took such a horrific catalyst to do so. And as always, I loved meeting more upcoming characters that will be featured in Reitan's soap-opera of a world. And I'm definitely curious about Levis and who his situationship is with -- I have ideas, but I'm keeping them to myself for now.

So keen to see what else Reitan has coming our way this year after reading Voss, and excited to see the Creaverse expand.

Thank you to the author for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.

"We fall asleep wrapped around each other, and I think it’s the first time in a very long time I’ve felt completely at peace." - Brek

"I’m so… amazed, honored, that you’re turned on for me, Brek. I don’t know why you chose me, but I’ll never take it for granted." - Voss

Brek has been struggling with himself a lot for a while; to others, he might seem grumpy or mean, but he's just trying to find himself internally. He loves his friends a lot, and he has a hard time adjusting to them having partners. I love that Voss could help him by simply being there to listen. And by giving him the resources to do more research about his own feelings and to find labels that feel right for him. Brek has worked a lot on himself, and he has had important conversations with his loved ones.Voss is becoming a single dad, and that is a lot for him, but he has his family and Brek to cuddle up with after a long day. Brek has a hard time with changes, and Voss could help him with his feelings, and Brek helped Voss a lot too.

Voss has ADHD and has found a lot of different ways that feel right for him. They can all be completely themselves in the place that Jalon (Voss his dad) has created; he's always listening and open for new suggestions to make the place better. I'm so excited to read more about Jalon and the others! I love this family so much! This will always be one of my favorite series. This is a very close and loving (found) family who have their secrets and dangerous jobs, but there's also a lot of love. I love that the book also took place when they were working; later on, it becomes unsafe and dark, but they will do everything to protect and bring home their loved ones.

I’ve been looking forward to Voss and Brek’s story! Brek has definitely not been a favorite of mine from his past actions, however, I wanted his book to finally see what is going on in his head and what led him to decisions in the past. Turns out, there is a lot of Brek we didn’t know and I’m glad we finally got to see it. It made me like him a lot more! And turns out, him and Voss are a pretty great pair. Voss is another character I couldn’t wait to see more of. I had lots of questions about him as well! At this point in this series, Voss is about to become a dad. And in the recent months has realized that he is pretty attracted to Brek. And it’s time to do something about it. Then there is Brek. Brek has always struggled when it comes to figuring out who he is exactly. And just when he thinks he has figured it out and has come to peace with it, everything changes. Voss changes so much for him. And though he may need time to figure out a few more things, he can also know that being with Voss is a good thing. He has also grown a lot in the last few years. I really loved getting to know these two and watch them figure out what they are to one another and figure themselves out a bit. But like any Van Doren book, danger lurks. And it’s time to bring out the darker side of the Van Doren family. This time when Brek is abducted by pure dumb luck, Voss won’t rest until he finds him. It’s a race against the clock! A great story all around. I absolutely adore this series. We have such a great cast of characters and I’m always excited to see who’s story is next!

After reading what went down with Brek in the first book of the series, Loren, I didn't think he could redeem himself. After learning more about him and his thought process, I understood him so much better and I love him so much.

The connection between Brek and Voss is slow but it opens so many new thoughts for Brek that he ends up questioning himself even more that he pushes away his friends and Voss. Voss ain't having that, he is there for him to talk things through and for Brek to realize that he is perfect just the way he is.

These two are just perfect for each other. They never push each other past what they are comfortable with. Voss is so patient and compassionate with Brek, such a beautiful thing.

The progression of their relationship is so sweet and I was waiting for the other shoe to drop and something to happen. What did I was not prepared for. What Brek and the others went through was horrible and disgusting.

I love how the Van Doren's and friends rally together to save Brek and the others. Malcolm was a real one and I really hope we get more on him. He seems really interesting and will definitely make a good asset to the Van Doren enterprise.

Another excellent addition to the Van Doren series. After reading Voss, I have a few pairings in my head and I really hope I am right. Can't wait for the next one in the Van Doren world.

4.25 stars. In the first part of this story, we comfortably get to know Brek and Voss, their jobs, friends, and their friendship, or maybe their situationship. And there is of course the extended family with the family matters, and family business, and who will take over Jalon’s crown.
Brek is discovering things about himself, about his orientation. He thought he knew who and what he was, but then there was Voss, and Voss made him feel different things.
Brek is broody, can be moody, and retreats into himself. Voss accepts Brek for who he is.

“Yeah. I’m aro and ace and probably pan, too. I’m practically a damn rainbow all on my own.”

Voss is expecting a baby, and the pregnant mother will carry him for Voss, she doesn’t want to be part of their lives.
At the same time, Voss and Brek get closer, and Voss is so happy about it until Brek disappears, just like that.

Where Brek ended up I can’t spoil, but my goodness, it’s bad, really bad.

The second part of this story is far from mellow, it’s a race against the clock to rescue Brek.
Oh man, I love me some high-tech in a story, the Van Dorens are doing such a great job using these facilities. The family is one front, you don’t want to get in their way, don’t ever hurt one of them. If you do, you’ll die, it’s that simple.
It is a romance, thank you very much, so we know there will be a good ending! Pffff!!

The Van Doren family is large enough to populate a small town. While mostly familial, there are those that walk, fall, or are thrust into Van Doren orbit that become family by default. The family empire encompasses many things. The most interesting being murder. Killing bad people is everyday business. They don’t see themselves as vigilantes though. More of a cleaning crew. Helping to make the world a better place for their family.

Voss is awaiting the birth of his baby when his interest in Brek heats up. As with all the Van Doren’s he quickly becomes obsessed. Brek on the other hand is trying to define his sexuality and Voss mostly confuses him. The baby adds another component which only makes the situation more perplexing. When Brek is in danger he hopes (knows) Voss will save him.

The first half of the story is trying to define their relationship. Not boring, just slow. The rest is pure Van Doren action. Showing them at their take charge and murderous best.

I’ve given up trying to keep the peripheral people clear. I know who the important people are and trust that the author will let me know when I need add another one of those to the ever growing list. So much world building going on in the background. The authors mind must be a maze.

Good series, very interesting characters. I’m waiting to see what the next Van Doren story brings.

4.5/5✨🌟

* SPOILERS *

I’ve been wanting to read this series for a while and when I saw this was available, I snagged this book. I have already downloaded the first two audiobooks so I can caught up in this series.

I really loved how this book was filled with a found family that I was here for, sweet moments with Voss and Brek, and man, the suspense you get in this story was everything I could ever want and so much more.

I loved how the first part of the book we get how these two get together. From Brek getting a little jealous and in his feelings, I loved how Voss reassured him of the two of them being together. Voss is perfect for Brek. He was so patient and loving with him as well as so considerate and just everything that Brek needed.

What Brek went through was horrible but like Voss’s brother said, he’s strong. I really loved the rescue mission. I was on the edge of my seat when Brek saw Voss. Poor thing thought he was dead and it was his mind playing tricks with him. I really loved how Malcolm was there to help him and guide him during a rough time.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

While I love all of the author's books, I have to say that Van Doren is one of my favourite series. Now we finally get Voss and Brek, and it's a wild ride, from a slightly more laid back first half, to a full metal second half. The minute I turned that first page, I couldn't put it down until I was finished, and then I was sad cause it was over.

We've met both characters before, but this time we get to know the brains behind the operation, Voss, a little more. We've always known he was the one who looked into each contract that comes to the Van Doren's, but I have to say he really is an amazing and complex character. That brings me to Brek, we definitely know him. He's one of the friends who tries a little something with Oakley, and Loren says a huge hell to the no. But there is more to the character than meets the eye, and in the first half of the story, he's discovering his sexuality and more about himself.

I'm not sure what else I can really say about the story, other than I absolutely loved every second of it and I can't wait to see who falls next in the Van Doren family.

I just love the Van Doren’s. I need books for every single person in this family. Crea always knows how to combine the best love interests with amazing storylines. Every single storyline in this series is amazing, filled with suspense and action with the perfect amount of grey characters who will burn the world down for those they love.

Brek is so redeemed in this book, he started off as a bit of a pain but now you see his side, you live with him in his head and everything just makes sense. I love Voss for him as his partner. Voss is so accepting and patient, he understands Brek on the deepest level and no matter what their relationship will look like. He just wants to be with Brek and that was so beautiful to read.

Now for the action in this book, that was something else and I loved it. I don’t know how Crea comes up with these scenarios, but I am here for it. When I was in the middle of it, I couldn’t put it down until it was finished! The fact that the action comes later in the book, gives a slow burn feel but not with the characters. You get this beautiful story with two people who learn about each other, about needs and wants, about being there and communicating. And then you get the action and it just feels right.

Can’t wait for the next Van Doren!

I’ve been super interested in Breks story since Loren. To see glimpses of his feelings and actions in that story really made me want to know more. This book starts off with Voss and Brek having a somewhat of a friendship, which ultimately steps into more intimate moments. This completely throws Brek off because he thought he had finally figured himself out and this changed what he thought.

I felt like Breks journey in the first part of the book is super accurate in how tough it is sometimes to figure yourself out. And how your identity can constantly change.

I also thought showcasing Voss becoming a new single parent was very realistic.

The second half of the book had the classic Van Doren action. And it was kind of cool with both characters being right in the middle of the action. It was also neat how long this went on instead of it being wrapped up in a chapter or two.

Voss and Brek weren’t your everyday love story. Both these men weren’t expecting what they found, but that’s my favorite part.

I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Brek and Voss have arrived. Ever since Loren, I picked up on a connection between them. I hoped with everything I had that this would be their story, and let me tell you… it did not disappoint. Not even a little. These two absolutely earned their happy ending.

From the very beginning, I knew there was more to Brek than the version he lets the world see. Watching Brek's growth across the books has been huge, and I know some people struggled with his past actions, I could always feel there was a reason behind them. His pain was layered, his walls were justified, and I trusted that his redemption arc was going to hurt. And wow… it did. Right in the feelings. Direct hit. No recovery.

Voss saw straight through Brek's “I’m fine, nothing sticks, I don’t need anyone” mask he tried to wear so well. He pried that mask away and showed him just how much he deserves to be loved and cared for.

This story gave Brek the softness, love, and sense of belonging he’s been craving all along and seeing him finally be chosen. Yeah. That wrecked me (affectionately).

The Van Doren's are addicting and this book was like a box of candy once you picked it up you couldn't stop reading. I love Voss what a character he is he decided what he wanted and went for it. Brek was taken with Voss but was confused with how his body reacted to him. He has been struggling with finding the right label for himself and when he finally thought he had it Voss coming into his life changed everything. Voss was patient, caring and so understanding with Brek and his struggles never pushing him too far but also letting him know what he wanted. Showing Brek what a true family is. When Brek goes missing you see the Van Doren side of Voss come out to play and wow he was going to do whatever it took to get his man back. I also loved how Voss never pushed his son Axel on Brek that he wants them to be a family but wants Brek to come to that conclusion on his own. Once again Crea Reitan brought us an incredible story that you just never want to end. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.

I’ve been waiting for Voss and Brek’s story!

I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t Brek’s biggest fan after what went down in Loren, the first book in the series. But Brek absolutely redeemed himself.

And Voss, mister green flag himself. Yes, yes and even stealing Brek’s phone so he could track him was absolutely a green flag in this case. He was perfect for Brek. I loved how patient and supportive he was while Brek figured out who he was and how he identified. All the while being a single parent to a newborn, told you, green flag.

If you want heavy spice, then this one probably isn’t for you. But the way their relationship developed was beautiful. Voss was so reassuring when Brek’s thoughts and feelings got the best of him.

Phew! The second half of this book had me on the edge of my seat. What Brek got dragged into was absolutely terrible. But I loved how the Van Doren’s and all of Brek’s friends came together and did whatever needed to be done for him to come back safely. Also secretly hoping that Malcom will stick around with the Van Doren’s and that we will get more on him!

I received a copy from the author and am voluntarily sharing my honest opinion.

I have been wanting Voss and Brek's story since I first read them at the beginning of the series, and I love how they ended up together. This one is not high on the heat, but honestly, it doesn't need to be as there is a lot going on here. The second part of the book really takes off into the darker side we have come to expect in the Van Doren series and does not disappoint.
We read a lot about Brek learning about himself and discovering things he didn’t know, and Voss is there to help when needed but never push in anyway. Voss's character is probably one of my favorites so far in the series that I've read so far

I'm so excited to read more about the Van Doren family and especially looking forward to Daddy Jalons book.

This series keeps getting better and better. I’ve been wanting Voss’s story for a while as he’s been in and out due to his job and I’m glad we got it! He was so perfect for Brek who was still working on figuring himself out and adjusting to many recent changes. Voss brought some of the biggest changes to Brek’s life yet he was patient and provided enough comfort that Brek someone who hates change was able to work his was through it all at his own pace with someone who felt safe and understood him. Brek went through such a traumatic and heartbreaking experience and having Voss there for the aftermath was great to see. I love the found family in this series and how supportive they all are of one another. I’m so excited for the next book in the series!

First of all you cant go wrong reading anything that Crea Reitan writes.

I just loved Voss!! He is so perfect. He knew what he wanted and went for it. Nothing could/would hold him back.

Brek just needs me to hug him and let him know everything is going to be ok. He is going through so many different emotions and seeing him struggle with them was emotional for me.

Voss knew right away Brek was it for him and watching him go through all he does to prove to brek was just beautiful.

I recommend you reading this book if you like the following:

- Joyful bi-awakening
-demiromantic
-graysexual
-new dad
-insecurity/reassurance

I really enjoyed how perfect Voss and Brek were for each other. Brek is probably the character who has grown and changed the most so far throughout the series. With everything that has been changing, he was reacting to the instability, and it wasn’t his best look, especially given that his friend group has been the one constant he was able to rely on until Voss. Voss finds himself enamored with Brek and works hard to understand who Brek is. He’s a problem solver and a thoughtful, caring partner and father. When Brek is kidnapped as part of a dangerous plot, it becomes clear that Brek’s friends and the Van Dorens will stop at nothing to get him home, even if it means revealing the darker side of Van Doren operations.

Oh My Goddess
Voss and Brek and this story was such an emotional roller ride that I was not sure I was wanting it to end or wanting it to go on forever.
Voss has been that unique brother in the Van Dorens and finally getting more with the birth of the baby and a relationship with Brek
And Brek and his development through his own family dynamics, his relationship with his friends, from Oakley to his sexuality and changes, he is a complex character but did his character deserve this ride?
I laughed and cried and sat on the edge of my seat with this story and am definitely getting more excited about Daddy Jalon

There is just something about these Van Dorens. I have loved each one, and this is no different. I love that Voss is such a nerdy character while also being trained to kill. Brek was so misunderstood from the previous books, so it was nice to get a look into his brain to see what makes him tick. I enjoyed the different representations represented as well. And as a side character, I love Malcolm. I was really afraid for him. I do hope we see more of him and that he gets at least a novella. But I remember seeing Crea say that if they have a plain name, they won't get a story, and Malcolm is a pretty plain name. I'm still gonna cross my fingers, though.

I loved Voss!! The Van Doren Family are a beautiful crazy dangerous fun family that’s for sure! I was anticipating Voss for so long I’m glad I got an Arc to read I. Advance. First let’s say brek redeemed himself lol because he truly was insufferable but know we understand why!! And Voss oh my heart melted the moment he became a father. These Van Doren men sure know how to make you Swoon. No spoilers here just know that Voss & Brek go through some tough things but come out stronger together. Crea writing is impeccable. She can write a story and by the first chapter You’re enthralled. Now I can’t wait for the next Van Doren’s BUT MAINLY DADDY JALON!!

These Van Doren books have me in a ch0keh0ld! I've been so eager to read Voss and Brek's story. This book took me on a rollercoaster, and I held on for dear life! I loved the relationship between Voss and Brek in the beginning, and then watching it grow and change over the course of the book. I especially enjoyed watching Brek learn more about himself and accept who he is, and how Voss was there for him throughout. As always, there is a huge cast of characters. I love getting to learn more about the family as we go on.

Voss is book four of the Van Doren Series.

I really enjoyed this story. We got a lot of suspense. Voss and Brek have a very interesting relationship together. The first bit of the story we get to see them working together and building a relationship. Then everything changes when Brek goes missing. The mystery and action involved with this part kept my attention through it all. It deals with serious topics, but I loved the determination of Voss to find Brek and doing everything he could to ensure he came out on top. Great addition to the series.

Undeniable Chemistry

Voss may be expecting a child with Lorissa but his desire for Brek is undeniable. The beginning of this story is the build up to their relationship and Brek accepting who he is. Much of his behavior makes more sense which I appreciated the insight into him as a person. Everything ramps up in the second half as it gets suspenseful and exciting. This was definitely where the Van Doren plot expectations start to form. It was a book that I could not put down and kept turning the pages. Well worth the read!

The Van Dorens just keep getting better and darker. I love that they Will do anything to protect their family and those they love. Voss is no different, which means Brek is under that protection. He’s so patient with Brek as they explore their feelings for one another. When tragedy strikes, Voss does what he does best, finds Voss, and organizes his rescue. This one is a slower burn and lighter on the spice, but their relationship is so sweet and loving. Dark with some pretty good triggers, so be sure to check before reading. Loved it!!!

Another Van Doren brother book, and I've been waiting for Voss and Brek's book. Brek is aroace so his and Voss's relationship are a bit different from the other high heat books, but I loved their friends to lovers pipeline.

The latter half of the book is dedicated to the darker mystery parts of the plot, and it was a tough read to see what Brek went through. The angst of waiting for Voss to find him was killing me.

Love this world and series and can't wait to read more of the family (especially the next generation, and the rest of the uncles).
