I was unprepared for the brutality of this Hansel and Gretel retelling! When the two children end up in the witch’s cottage, Gretel befriends the witch and helps her prepare a big feast. Do you think you know the story? Think again. Expect gluttony.
This version of the story has the biological mother cast Hansel and Gretel out of the house, not the stepmother as many versions have implied. Some mothers are not so perfect.
