"Motorcycles didn’t ever come down this street, and a shiver of fear went through me.
After all, I was home alone and it was almost midnight. . ."
For a moment, I was scared to death at the hulking dark intruder who stepped into my house, crunching through the shards of glass with his massive boots. He was at least 6’5 with broad shoulders and big arms, his entire body powerful and dangerous.
And then those dark eyes met mine through the ski mask. One a deep, rich chestnut color, and the other an unusual amber, with swirls of gold and copper. My spine instantly relaxed.
It was my husband! He had come to play after all!
Author's This is a DARK grovel romance, and has mature themes, including violence. There is also on-page cheating but no cheating redemption.
Once again, Katie Landry writes a hysterically hilarious story…
And this time it’s a dark one. Henry is Angel’s husband, who is a cheating asswipe. He absolutely bangs any attractive woman in sight, and is also currently banging their marriage counselor.
But Henry has a twin brother, who is definitely a dead ringer for him. Identical, including the heterochromia (spelling?). Henry is a high powered businessman, and his twin, Hunter, is a mechanic.
Angel is beyond tired of the cheating, but she’s just learning that Hunter has been the substitute husband in her life, that she had no idea about!
Grammar stuff, like spelling errors and jumbled up words. Nothing terrible but enough to put me off slightly. As I’ve mentioned before, nuns taught me English…
KU read, and her usual dumb cheating guy. In this case, he really paid for it…
Henry and Angel are not so happily married. Henry is a serial cheater and Angel keeps forgiving him. Henry is a piece of work and not a nice one.
Hunter is Henry’s twin brother, and he is not so secretly in love with Angel and Henry uses that to keep inline. He sends Hunter to look after Angel when he does not want to. That includes taking care of her kink.
Henry over plays his hand when Angel realises that Hunter is the one taking care of her. This book is darker than Katie’s usual books but I really enjoyed it.
Somehow there was no other people when they played primal in middle of the street. Like they go into a diner at night. Heroine is in PJs no less. Order food. And then heroine runs out of the diner and heronchases after her and they have wild sex. Like 100% people would call the cops, but somehow nobody cares? And next time heroine runs away from a building fire escape, again barefoot. Hero chaces. Doorman is "startled", but that's it - nobody helpes. Unrealistic. Also the violence etc.. they cut off husbands balls, but he does not say anything? Even when he goes to jail? Why should he protect them? How they got away with it? Hero kills the intruder, where did the husband put the body? How he even had those connections?
A lot of fantastical things that are not realistic in real life and my brain gets stuck on them.

"She gave up on throttling me with her bare hands and my heart lurched with love as I watched her yank my tie and try to strangle me with it."
I eat moments like this up. I can never get enough of scenes like that — the kind that highlight just how absolutely besotted Hunter is, how head-over-heels gone he is for Angel. I was SO there for it.
Angel, on the other hand… yeah, she and I did not get off on the right foot. She was genuinely one of the most insufferable FMCs I’ve read in a while in those first chapters. The way she was clinging to the idea that her marriage to her serial-cheater husband (who also fat-shamed her??) was somehow salvageable just because she thought he showed up to play out one of her fantasies, and in her mind that meant he cared about her? Girl. Please. It was rough.
BUT she finally got over it after catching him cheating again, thankfully. And once that happened, the book got so much better.
Hunter was amazing. I loved his dynamic with Angel — the whole chase, the tension, the way he adored her while also taking care of her in the softest ways. He carried. Hard.
Honestly? I would LOVE a full-length book built on this plot device. The evil twin using his good twin to act in his place whenever he doesn’t want to deal with things, the FMC falling for the good twin without realizing it, the big reveal moment later, and if it were a slow burn with real tension and yearning?? Oh my god, it could've been SO good. There’s so much potential in that premise and I’d eat a long version of it alive.
Okay, so this book was everything you didn’t expect from Katie Landry and then some. Dark, filthy, totally unhinged, and seriously hot like fire alarm hot!!! Imagine your wildest sexy daydreams coming true but with your husband’s twin brother, who just happens to be head over heels for you. Yeah, things got twisted fast!! Henry, the big cheating jerk, got his just desserts, and Hunter and Angelise? They were pure unhinged chaos but somehow perfect for each other. Hunter had been crushing on his sister-in-law forever, while Henry kept running off to cheat and sending Hunter to cover for him! Hunter being in love with his own sister in law for years while his twin brother behaved like a trash can in human form was wild enough. Then the brother kept sending Hunter to “take care of her” whenever he felt like cheating on her again. The family tree was shaking.
Angelise discovering that every warm moment she thought she shared with Henry was actually Hunter was the funniest surprise reveal I have read this month. Every time she thought Henry was being gentle or thoughtful it was Hunter. Every time she felt loved it was Hunter. Every time she had fun it was Hunter. Basically Henry contributed nothing except pain, lies and bad vibes!! He also had some really dark and evil motives going behind!
The book was short and I devoured it in record time. I did not expect to enjoy this madness as much as I did but here I am. Four stars for chaos, comedy and crimes of passion!!!
We get to see a darker side of Katie Landry and I'm 100% here for it. Also for those who hate when she redeems the cheater they're is none of that here.
Our fmc Angel is married to human turd Henry who treats her like crap and cheats constantly. Why does she stay? Well because of the rare times that he actually treats her amazing. But spoiler that's actually his twin brother Hunter (mmc) who he knows is in love with her and he's blackmailing to be his stand in. Hunter isn't the smartest but he makes up for it in well everything else.
And once Hunter and Angel get on the same page the fun really starts. My only complaint is I wish it was longer cause it was so good.

I really wanted to give this more stars but the error in the book of mixing up the twins' names was often jarring.
To be fair this book is all smut with a smidge of plot thrown in. Quick fun read, but the errors just killed a star for me.
Cheating = h's husband is constantly cheating. Does the h cheat? Technically yes by screwing around with the husband's twin brother (H), BUT the H was impersonating the husband soooo??
h sees H with OW = h walked in on her husband banging their marriage therapist
Basically, anything Katie publishes gets an automatic download from me. This was a snack sized, fast paced, primal kink bonanza! Loved the characters and even though the story was short, the author hit the perfect points to keep everything interesting and moving along.
The angst was real, the smexy times on point, and the retribution even better. Loved this book! On to the next one.
Angel has put up with a lit from her piece of shit husband. But she doesn't know just how much until one night with her brother in law changes everything.
Henry has a twin, Hunter, who is the fix it man.... but this time it backfires.
Definitely an entertaining story. I like the premise and it’s just short enough that it kept my interest to finish the story. Always love a story of a man obsessed/he falls first and hard.
2.5 stars I feel like I was dropped into the middle of the story... I knew it was a short book, but I just thought I'd like it more. This one is very unrealistic, but it's fiction, so that's okay.
This was relatively short, but maybe not as satisfying as some of the other books I've read by this author. This is the first book I've read by Katie Landry where I haven't thought the punishment was enough. Henry really should have gone through more severe public, psychological, and/or public torture before the end. Like, she's had heroes who did less who went through way more, so I'm not sure why this time, when she really could have done real damage to her cheater, she pulled the punch.
I also wish the blurb had given me a better idea of what was coming.
