Review for 'Dead Wrong' by Dan Burford
This may be the first book I have read by this absolutely incredible author but it certainly will NOT be my last. In fact keep your eyes peeled for my review of 'Fractured Ties' coming soon. As soon as I finished this book by this absolutely incredible author I just had to get stuck straight in by another one by him!
OMG DAN!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME!!! WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY EXPLOSIVE ACTION PACKED AND ADDICTIVE PAGE TURNING BOOK!
FILLED WITH CHARACTERS YOU LOVE TO HATE, A STORYLINE THAT WILL KEEP YOU HOOKED AND NON STOP ACTION WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS?
Now from what I have written above would you ever guess that I have never actually been a huge lover of gangland books??! There is only one that I have ever loved and that was by the incredibly talented Emma Tallon. That was many years ago and I haven't read any gangland books since as I didn't think anything would beat that. Well, ladies and gentleman, that was until I found this absolutely blooming brilliant author and he is not only just as good but this book has jumped to my FAVOURITE EVER gangland book. In fact, I would even go as far as saying it is one of the best books I have EVER read!! Seriously, if you are not a fan of gangland books like I haven't been then you really want to expand your genre preferences even if it is just this once and I can promise that you will NOT regret it!! The only downfall is that I cannot say anyway of it being a series which I would have loved but then sometime you can get too much of a good thing! This book is extremely gripping and addictive from the very first page until the last. I was absolutely hooked throughout with the suspense and tension filled plot. The storyline itself is absolutely RAM PACKED with family, gangs, rivalry, loyalty, danger, romance, heartache, revenge, atmosphere, grit, action, drama, action, suspense, tension, twists, violence, underworlds and so very much more!!! I genuinely could not recommend it enough and words cannot do it justice. It is a longer book than what I usually read with it being 412 pages long but let me tell you now that it is worth every sing second. The best thing is that because it was so gritty, multi-layered and action packed I genuinely read it in just one full day whereas it would normally take me 3/4 to read a book of this size! It is extremely gritty and atmospheric and Dan has done a wonderful job of weaving the storyline through the perspectives of multiple protagonists. Our main characters are Vinny Chambers who is the feared underworld boss of Wembley, his bratty daughter Beverley Chambers who I loved to hate (seriously, I was that engrossed I was actually shouting at her through the pages and didn't realise until my partner mentioned it to me!!), Paddy Fletcher who is a well known gangster of East London and his lovely, hard working and gentleman of a son Caleb. He also brings in several other characters and storyline and weaves them all together perfectly ensuring there is no confusion and giving the reader the bigger picture. When bratty Beverley accuses Caleb of assault and he turns up dead she starts a war where blood is shed, bodies are buried and families are broken. No spoiler as it states this in the synopsis but I was screaming and heartbroken when Caleb was killed as he didn't deserve it at all. I actually had tears in my eyes as I knew it was coming and he was such a sweet character. I wont go in to more details as the synopsis tells you what you need to know and this really is one of those books that you HAVE to read yourself. I absolutely loved the dark, explosive and dangerous storyline filled with gangsters, anti heroes, loyalty and betrayal. You really could not ask for more!! There were so many twists that it genuinely felt like being on a rollercoaster ride. The storyline itself was unique to me which I absolutely loved!! I have read hundreds and hundreds of books so it is getting harder and harder to discover a truly unique storyline but Dan absolutely smashes it out of the ball park with this beauty!
WITH A GRITTY, ACTION PACKED AND HIGH STAKES STORYLINE PACKED WITH VENGEANCE, CRIME AND GANGS WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???

I loved being sucked into the underworld and getting to know about the Chambers and Fletcher family and gangs as well as being absorbed into the dangerous, dark and gritty underworld. The storyline was intricately woven with so many sub plots that kept me completely engaged throughout. The way Dan has written it really helps your imagination picture everything going on. I was absolutely on the edge of my seat, biting my nails with a pounding heart throughout this absolutely gripping and addictive book!!! Vinnie, Paddy and their gangs are definitely forces to be reckoned and people I definitely would not want to get on the wrong side of!! As I previously mentioned I absolutely HATE, HATE, HATED Beverley and I genuinely have never felt such passionate hate for a character or even a person before in my life!! It really goes to show how extremely good a writer Dan is to provoke such strong emotions in his readers for his characters. Well done Dan! I was absolutely fascinated by all the gang members that Vinny and Paddy had as well as how they dealt with things. I love that although they were gangsters they stuck up for innocent members of the community and that really made me warm to them. Every single character was strong and had their own unique personalities and each definitely left an impression on me. It truly goes to show how much Dan cares for his characters and he has a fantastic ability to bring them to life ensuring his readers are left wanting, no NEEDING, to see more of them!!
I CANNOT WAIT TO READ MORE OF DAN'S BOOKS IF THIS EPIC PAGE TURNER IS ANYTHING TO GO BY AND I WOULD ALSO LOVE TO SEE THIS TURNED INTO A MOVIE. I WOULD DEFINITELY BE FIRST IN LINE TO GET A TICKET!! books and it would be intriguing to see them turned into movies. Overall a fast paced, explosive page turning, gripping, explosive and addictive page turner from the world of crime.

This is my second read from this author, and each book is different yet equally addictive. Vinny Chambers and his brother Ray run their turf with an iron fist—firm and unyielding, and anyone who crosses them is in big trouble. Vinny’s daughter Beverley is a bit of a diva and a true daddy’s girl; whatever she wants, she gets. Once you start this book, you won’t want to put it down. One little lie, one little whisper, sets off a chain of destruction. I’m really looking forward to more from this author—he’s right up there in the gangland writing scene.
