Mate Hunted #4

The Friendly Girl's Guide to Mating with a Werewolf

Rate this book
I brought my friend's housewarming present to the wrong place. A grumpy werewolf answered the door, and shifted into a massive wolf.

Apparently, we're mates.

And apparently, my mate doesn't like cake.

Who doesn't like cake?

Sugary goodness aside, he's bitter and jaded.

I'm… well, the opposite.

So when he says he doesn't want to be with me, I give him space.

But for some reason, he can't stay away.

He wants me more than he wants to, and as long as he's treating me right, I'm not going to turn him away.

Because he says he doesn't want a partner, but honestly?

I think he's lying to both of us.

Would we be friends if I hate PINK?? Otherwise, I think Emmy is adorable!! These group of Gals are just awesome!!!
Poor grumpy Finn, his abused past giving him anxiety & panic attacks makes ya feel for the guy, her overloaded sweetness soothes him & his wolf I think 🩷
🥹O.M.G… he made me have happy tears near the end there!! 🎂
My absolute favourite part was when he was soo worried about her and had been going bonkers that he drove to see her and gave her that wicked bear-hug wolf-hug 💖🐺🐺💖
💙Lovely cover art💋
❤️‍🔥Oh, and yes, these two DO have some great sex!!❤️‍🔥

A lovely, quick escape for when you need warmth and humor without the emotional marathon.
This was a short, fun, and easy read.
A palate cleanser after something heavier.
Emmy is a rainbow of positivity, effortless and charming, while Finn carries his traumas like shadows he can’t shake.
Their dynamic is predictable, yet sweet, and watching Finn slowly realize that Emmy isn’t "the other" was oddly satisfying.

The story doesn’t aim to reinvent the wheel.
It’s quick, light, and full of heart.
It made me smile, entertained me, and offered exactly what it promised: a spicy, romantic escapade with a happy ending.

I just love this bubble gum series! It just gets u in the happy feels and it’s a quick read. The FMC is very Elle woods. Obsessed with pink and is a ray of sunshine. The MC is grumpy gills and was known as one of the most hurt out of the guys. The writer made a great job of shying away from insta love in this one and actually building a bond. Very cute.

This was just...so bad
Really shoddy storytelling- absolutely zero character depth and just felt like a single chapter of a book.
Literally every book in this series (and some of the author's others) has the same plot blueprint.

Lola Glass is one of my favorite non-dark romance authors. She made me, and I’m sure many, many others, very happy by gifting us Finn’s HEA. And a better mate he couldn’t have been given—Emmy is a rainbow explosion! Perfect 🖤 Their story was just the right amount of uncomfortable, before they … HA! Gotta read it yourself 😉

Delivering a housewarming gift to the wrong door is awkward. Delivering it to a grumpy, cake-hating werewolf who turns out to be your fated mate? That’s just fate being messy.

The sunshine narrator paired with a bitter, jaded werewolf makes for fun banter and solid chemistry. The mate-bond tension and his constant “I don’t want you…but actually I do” energy are the strongest parts of the story and keep things entertaining.

The pacing can be uneven, and some emotional beats could’ve gone deeper, but overall it’s a cozy paranormal romance with familiar tropes done well enough to enjoy. If you like reluctant mates, grumpy wolves, and heroines who refuse to dull their sparkle, this one delivers—even if the hero still doesn’t like cake. 🐺🍰

Emmy and Zoe are besties within the women who are teaching in the local college. Emmy is pretty much pure sunshine and thus loves pink and other rainbow colors. If it is bland, she just won’t even buy it. This goes for everything she owns. Since Jade, one of the other women, had just left working for the college and gotten her dream job, Emmy baked her a celebration cake of epicness. However, at the split in the road, she takes the wrong fork, and ends up at the house of one of the other guys from the Feral Pack. He is total hotness to Emmy, but is super extremely grumpy and mean when they meet. Then, once their eyes met- yep, you guessed it, they turned red and he said, “Mate.” So he went all wolfy and kept growling at her until she did what she wanted while she talked up a nervous storm. It was soooo cute. lol. Plus, way funny. What happens after has to be the most quickest mate hunt ever. lol. I laughed so hard while reading this book. A lot of it just struck me as funny. Since Jade is busy, she sends Abby to explain things. Finn is just grumpy hotness to the nth power. Egads. Seriously. Finding out about his past, once again made me just want to hug him and then find the woman who rejected him and give her a resounding lecture as well as some thrown books. Because of his past, Finn has panic attacks. I love the fact that the author threw how to deal with it, because my dad has had them for most of my life. It’s a hard thing to deal with, even knowing what you are doing and on meds. I truly love how much Emmy loves pink and how her cakes are color coded depending on who they are for. That is just so her. The book also made me want cake. I’ll probably want cake for a while just thinking about this book, lol. Finn does some stupid stuff because of what happened to him before and hurts Emmy’s feelings. I just wanted to hug her. When Finn finally gets his head out of his rump, things get even more hilarious and steamy too. Even tho Finn is fighting his feelings, he is still being a werewolf and all possessive and protective. It’s cute, and aggravating. For the reader and for poor Emmy.

One of the other things I loved about this book is that we learn more about Maya.

Since we know who is coming up next in the book, I realized who is left for the final book and I spent at least five minutes laughing hysterically, because those two just might physically fight each other before falling for each other. lol I can’t wait for both books!.

The Friendly Girl’s Guide to Mating with a Werewolf by Lola Glass is a charming, lighthearted paranormal romance that leans hard into heart, humor, and the irresistible magic of opposites attracting.

A simple mistake—delivering a housewarming cake to the wrong address—turns Emmy’s life upside down when a grumpy, brooding werewolf answers the door… and then promptly shifts into a massive wolf. Surprise: they’re mates. Bigger surprise? He doesn’t even like cake.

Finn is closed-off, jaded, and determined to live his life alone. Emmy, on the other hand, is pure sunshine—kind, patient, and relentlessly genuine. When Finn insists he doesn’t want a partner, Emmy does the unthinkable in romance novels: she respects his boundaries. She gives him space. No pushing. No forcing fate. And that’s exactly what makes their connection feel so real and refreshing.

What unfolds is a slow, tender pull neither of them can deny. Finn may growl and grumble, but his actions tell a different story—one of care, protectiveness, and a wolf who wants far more than he’s willing to admit. Emmy’s warmth slowly melts his defenses, proving that strength doesn’t always roar; sometimes it smiles, waits, and brings cake anyway.

This story is sweet, funny, and deeply satisfying, delivering Finn the happily-ever-after he deserves and pairing him with the perfect mate. Emmy truly is, as promised, a rainbow explosion—bright, loving, and impossible not to adore.

If you’re looking for a feel-good paranormal romance with fated mates, grumpy/sunshine vibes, gentle humor, and a whole lot of heart, The Friendly Girl’s Guide to Mating with a Werewolf is an absolute delight.

Ultimate Grump and the biggest Ray of Sunshine

A lovely short but fantastically fun romantasy by Lola Glass with another male from the "Feral Pack". Lola’s stories are always so well written with humour, romance and human nature (worries, insecurities, etc causing problems) and this one is no different. It's full of drama, wonderful characters with brilliant chemistry, second chance at love, friendships, sexy wolf shifters with trauma in their pasts, heaps of humor, plenty of pink, cake, cheeky banter and spice💖. Again, I couldn't put down and would strongly recommend.

When Emmy goes to take cake to Jade after she's mated with Wyatt ("The Independent Girl's Guide to Mating with a Werewolf") she takes the wrong side of the fork and is met with a very grumpy Finn when he opens the door. She might have been hoping to meet her own werewolf but Finn makes it clear that he's not interested in a relationship. Emmy realises he's had a bad rejection from his first mate and is willing to let him make the decisions, after what might have been the fastest hunt and chase.

They agree on a platonic "friends with benefits" but she's not prepared for how upset his reaction might make her; and he's not ready for how not having her round will make him feel. Can he find a way to get over the trauma of his first rejection and accept the second chance fate is giving him; even if she does have a thing for pink?

I love the banter between all the wolves and their mates in this series and can't wait for Zoe and Conner's story in the next book, I also look forward to Ethan finding his own 'cupcake'.

Short but addictive so hang on you won’t put it down until the last page has been turned. Finn our sexy as all get out brooding extremely grumpy werewolf after being rejected by his abusive mate gave up on love pretty much or finding another that might make him happy or feel complete he was content with his pack whom has all been rejected by their mates and his cabin but he has watched friends find their second chance mates along with happiness but he is still fears it all until his wolf decides enough is enough. Emmy is part of the girls circle their rainbow unicorn she goes looking for Jade accidently knocks on the wrong cabin they all look alike but when an a sexy as all get out guy opens the door she starts to explain until his eyes turns red, said mate, turns into a werewolf and then bites her turning her into a werewolf beginning their relationship. However, she is confused on their relationship she is Ms. Sunshine and him, well he is Mr. Grumpy to the max he doesn’t even like cake ….come on who doesn’t like cake 😊 but the more they get to know each other the more they get to know each other Finn realizes that she isn’t his ex. she is the most gentle person he has ever met, she is that way with anyone /everyone, learning that he can be happy, he also realized that he more he is around her, she is healing all of his broken parts, but she is also realizes the same about him he is healing all her broken parts, and they both realize they are stronger together and they can have happiness as long as they are together.

Ahh Finn and Emmy’s story, I loved it! Finn was a brooding, grumpy werewolf who after being rejected by his abusive ex mate was dead set against having another mate, content to live out his life alone in his cabin surrounded by his pack mates (who had also been rejected by ex mates). Fate seems to be conspiring against his pack when 3 other members all find their second chance mates (previous 3 books in this series - all as awesome as this book go and read them too!) and all their mates are from the same female friendship group. When Emmy goes looking for her friend jade, she knocks on the wrong cabin and finds an insanely attractive man who answers, then his eyes turn red, utters the word mate then turns into a werewolf! After he bites her and she bites him back, they try to work out what their relationship should be - platonic friends or something more. Can Finn get over his past trauma and move on and embrace the second chance he has at having a mate, can Emmy show him that not all mates are abusive.

I was hooked from start to finish, I read it in one sitting! I loved reading Finns story and it filled me with all the feels, from laughter, tears (sad and happy ones) and everything in between. I want to find me a werewolf mate in the woods who paints his cabin pink for me! Ahh dream 🥰 another fabulous addition to this series! I can’t wait for Zoe and Connor’s story next!.

Finally, Finn found his female. I’ve been wondering about Finn’s story for a while. He has always been so anti-mate that I knew that there had to be a story there. There is- he’s a survivor of female on male abuse. But the abuse is definitely not detailed, only hinted at. What is a more important part of the story is his reactions to a new mating bond after having been abused and rejected by his first potential mate. Emotionally, this is a slower burn romance because Glass is very respectful of the journey both Finn and Em must take before they are ready for a deeper relationship.
There were a couple of things I didn’t like. The initial period of the mating bond is supposed to be all sexytime all the time, and it apparently was, but it was closed door, and I’m not a fan of closed door. I also felt that so much of the emotional stuff was not properly delved into; it seemed very surface. These are the reasons I couldn’t give this book five stars. I do want to commend Glass for introducing a male character who survived abuse perpetrated by a female, because this is a real-life problem that gets so little attention.
Book is SAFE.
Heat is MOSTLY CLOSED DOOR, SOME EXPLICIT OPEN DOOR.
TRIGGERS are discussion of abuse and wanton application of the entire color wheel.
TROPES include Fated Mates, Mates with Benefits, In the Pink, J/P Hero, Slow Burn.

The mate hunted series has become one of my favorites by Lola Glass. This installment has not been a shift from the others in the series in some ways. Finn is like an exposed nerve. He sensitive and vulnerable and terrified of what may happen if he opens himself up again. Emmy sees all of this and the well of empathy she has for him is never ending. Almost to the point of it feeling like she’s giving him too much space at times. However, as you continue reading, you understand why.

These two are the definition of a grumpy x sunshine relationship. But beyond that trope, there is so much more emotional development to be found in this book. Even though it is a novella, you experience the depth of their growing relationship. While there is more angst than usual for Lola‘s writing, it served a purpose here and I can appreciate how quickly it was resolved.

While there was definitely spice in this book, there was also a lot of emotional baggage around intimacy that had to be dealt with. I appreciate that the intimacy was not just a forgone conclusion as a part of their bond, but recognized that there was trauma as a part of that as well. Truly, I love these two I love their connection and I cannot wait for the next book.

Oh my wow! I just finished this book! I could not put it down. I have had mixed feelings about Finn throughout this series. I was always curious what type of girl would be perfect for Finn. I never could get her quite right in my head. No surprise to me that Ms Glass nailed her perfectly. I loved Em. She was so bright and eccentric, how could you not love her. Finn story made a lot of sense and reading it gave me such a fantastic feeling of completeness. I am very invested in the mate hunt series and I have been hoping for more from our feral pack. The story was well written and hit all the emotions in this perfect novella. My heart has always been with Ethan and I can’t wait to hear his story but Finn story just made my heart squeeze with so much feeling and love!! I can not recommend this book enough and I suggest reading the whole series to really feel these guys and their happily ever after. They deserve it and it will be completely worth it!.

Feels like I missed something

This is a relatively short book, but somehow it has so much vagueness that I feel like I missed all of the story arc and jumped straight to the hea. It's not a typical feeling for a Lola Glass novel, which are usually short but fleshed out.

We have Emma who is the vaguest of all the FMCs. She's sweet, obsessed with colors and teaches, but we know bupkiss about her otherwise. She has the least personality somehow.
Finn is an ok MMC but his past trauma is too vaguely described so I feel like he's more of a wuss than anything else. He seems like he is nice but we don't really get to see it until the last chapter.
The friends are mostly just obnoxious this book. There more to annoy and nag than anything else. Emma proves to be a decent, present friend but the rest are lacking.
The story is predictable, as it should be for this series, but seems to be lacking most of the details.

I don't hate this book by any means, but it is by far not the best in the series.

“Send sexy werewolf wishes in my direction.” “I’ll send the wolf dust through the phone.”

Can yall also send me some my way too?

Emmy baked a cake but delivered it to the wrong door, now she's mated to a wolf and became a wolf herself. Finn's been burned before and hesitant by Emmy, but as mates they have to navigate their way to uniting their wolves.

I liked this one. So fun, so quick and a no-brainer read.

Love that the author did another take on the mate hunt. This one was so short, so quick and so abrupt. It was very interesting at least. I also love that we now know Finn's background because he went through a lot worst, so I understand the hesitation on his part.

This is slow-burn which I did not expect, and I love how they both are aware of each others' wishes and boundaries.

Not a fave of mine in the series, but it was just fun. I am looking forward to the next one.

Also, he painted his entire cabin pink for her. HE PAINTED HIS ENTIRE CABIN PINK FOR HERRRR.

friends with benefits to lovers

Finn and Emmy!

Finn had an emotionally abusive ex who rejected the bond. This was just kind of glossed over not much detail. Emmy is super smart and started college at 16. She’s 29 and a professor. Finn and her are mates but Finn doesn’t want a mate. They decide on friends with benefits. Eventually it’s more.

I loved grahams book #3 and swooned over him. Finn was just ok. There was sort of a lack of connection. I felt like more time was spent writing about Emmy’s friends than her and Finn. With this being such a short book nothing was very in depth. Even the heat and spicy stuff was pretty glossed over.

I wish it was more. I love Lola’s books. The moon ridge pack along with the mate hunt series has been fun. Lola always has a way of giving you feel good romance and they’re always a good reset for me. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.

I couldn’t wait for Finn book since the first time Lola Glass introduced him!
I was so intrigued by his character and I always wanted to know more on what happened to him.

I really am a fan of the author as she is for me what Hallmarks movies are for many: a secure and reassuring place made of romance and happy endings!

I really like the pairing between Emmy and Finn: he’s grumpy and she’s a “ray of fucking sunshine” as Jade describes her!! Together they shows how two very different people could create such a special and unique relationship made of compromises and love.

Having said that, I was a bit sad that Finn traumas were not dogged in more. I wanted to really understand wha happened to him and see him growing and healing. I felt that the story was a bit rushed and that there was such a great potential to really explore his pain and his growth.

Nevertheless I still loved the book and I cannot wait for Connor and Zoe’s story!!

Meh, until it was almost done...

So I felt like I couldn't really bond with the two mc's. Maybe I liked Em a bit more because she was so super sweet and easy going. But Finn was just too grumpy.....now don't get me wrong, I love grumpy growly guys, especially Wolfy guys. But he came across too mean right from the start. Not grumpy bc he had been wronged, but just pissed. And even after his panic attack I still didn't like him.

And what about the first time they had sex when the climax started?????? No details? It was over and they had moved on. Maybe it reading about how they had bonded like that made me feel like their relationship wasn't that great. They fooled around and talked a bit about their feelings, but there wasn't much bonding until 90% and then he started coming around.

The Friendly Girl’s Guide to Mating with a Werewolf by Lola Glass is a cozy, low‑angst paranormal romance full of charm, humor, and irresistible grumpy/sunshine tension.

When Emmy accidentally delivers a housewarming cake to the wrong address, she meets Finn, a brooding werewolf who shifts right in front of her and immediately declares he wants nothing to do with a mate. Emmy, ever the sunshine, surprises him by respecting his boundaries instead of pushing fate.

What follows is a gentle, slow-burn connection built on small gestures, quiet care, and Finn’s reluctant softening as Emmy’s warmth melts through his walls. She doesn’t force the bond; she simply shows up as herself, bright, patient, and impossible not to love.

If you want a feel-good fated‑mates romance with humor, heart, and a tender emotional payoff, this one is a delight.

Emmy is an absolute ray of sunshine; she's bright—both in personality and color—, quirky, and completely lovable. Watching her navigate the world of werewolves and become just what broody Finn needed to help heal from the trauma caused by his former mate was very satisfying.

It takes time for Finn to really see that his heart has nothing to fear from loving Emmy, which makes their eventual emotional connection feel earned and genuine.

Despite being a quick read, the story feels complete, and I liked that we get a peek at the next couple's mate hunt. A sweet addition to the Mate Hunted series that fans will definitely enjoy. Looking forward to the next story!.

Oh, my goodness it all makes sense now. Why Emmy chooses the colors in her life, why she is so optimistic, just everything. I love it. Fate could not have chosen a better person for Finn than her. He needed her patience, joy, compassion, and the awesome ability to let him know that she wasn’t going to push him into anything he wasn’t ready for. This series is such fun and I will hate to see it end, as I do with all the authors’ books. As the single friend numbers dwindle down, we get Zoe and Connor’s story coming up next and she is doing a runner lol. H: Finn
h: Emmy
I have to say this is my favorite book so far! Emmy is on her way to drop off a cake she baked to her friend Jade’s house. She makes a wrong turn & ends up at Finn’s house. Finn’s life hasn’t been easy so he has avoided having a mate & had no problem telling Emmy he doesn’t want a mate! What I love abt these characters is that Emmy is not this poor, helpless women who is forced to do something she doesn’t want to do. No, Emmy has a trust fund & is a kindergarten teacher who is currently a college professor at the moment.
The nxt story I can’t wait to read but the story I really can’t wait is Maya & Ethan (I think that’s the guy she will get)

Finn and Emmy’s story is book 4 in the Mate Hunted series, while it can be read as a standalone, it’s best read in order as you get the backstory on the previous couples involved and how the Ladies all know each other. This is basically a second chance, fated mates read with the male having been emotionally abused in his previous relationship, so a bit of a twist on the trope. Emmy’s character is pure sunshine in comparison to Finn’s grumpy wolf. But he also surprisingly falls first ! It’s a cute, with minimal to no adversity rom-com. 4✨’s.

Second Chance Sizzling Read

One of my favorite authors does it again!

Finn and Emmy, a wonderful read filled with joy, love, laughter, friendship, sizzle as this reluctant Werewolf finds his perfect mate, but convincing him that’s she’s perfect is another matter.

He wants it all, at first, he wanted to take things slowly with lots of steamy benefits now he wants to run into their relationship full steam ahead.

Sit down and binge on another fantastic read from this author!.

I love it but…

I have literally read all of Lola’s books so I am a huge fan of all her work. I also thought this story was great but was disappointed that she had a man that hadn’t been pleasured by a woman ever before and we didn’t get to read about his first experience! Oh man! Just felt like that was a missed opportunity. In fact this one lacked a lot of sex and where I do believe the story is more important than sex, you sometimes need the sex to build the relationship. Therefore although I enjoyed it, I felt it could have been..more!
