Before Boston: More Than a Marathon: A Story of Rediscovering What Truly Matters

Rate this book
The race emcee sounded the starting horn. We were off . . .

Amidst the excitement of qualifying and training for the Boston Marathon, Erin couldn’t help but realize that something was missing in her quest for more miles and personal bests. An admitted perfectionist and over-achiever, she had a constant drive to keep up a good front and please everyone around her—all the while forgetting what mattered most.

But in an instant, her world changed.

In Before Boston, Erin Webb takes us through her journey of recovering from what could have taken her life, to the Boston finish line and beyond. As she takes you through her difficult path of recovery, her journey becomes a different kind of race—one to discover her true meaning and purpose in this life and to lead others to do the same.

Picked this book up today at Naughty Dog Book store in Nashville Indiana. I picked the book up off the shelf because I’ve been a runner for a couple of decades - nothing to the level of this author - but have appreciated others who take this activity to an elite level and was intrigued by the title and cover. I realized after I picked it up that she was a local author which was a neat connection. This book is an easy read - I finished the book the afternoon that I got home from the bookstore. It was also nice that the book incorporates her faith journey along side her medical journey as she approached The Boston Marathon. Good book for someone who likes running, is wondering why bad things happen to good people, or looking for a feel-good story.

Beautiful testimony

I have always had a special place in my heart for my running friends. I wish I would have known my dear friend was going through all this, I am a prayer lifter and would have prayed fervently. Her story reminds us we need others along life’s way, all the people on her path that helped, encouraged, what a blessing. Her testimony, growing in faith , showed how beautiful our Saviour is and how he shows up faithfully in all the little and big for each of us. So proud of her for completing more than a marathon.
