She came back for answers. She didn’t expect him. When Tori Hart returns to her family's Nevada ranch, she’s chasing the truth behind her father’s mysterious death.

She’s not the same girl who left all those years ago, and the ranch isn’t the same without him.

But Wyatt Cole is still there.

Her father’s best friend. The man who taught her to ride, who watched her grow up.

The ranch belongs to her now. So does the silence, the secrets...and maybe even Wyatt.

He's handsome, mysterious, dangerous, and hiding secrets that will turn her world upside down. He swore to protect her, but the closer she gets to the truth, the harder it is to stay away.

Whiskey Bluff is a dual-POV cowboy romance with a significant age gap, dark themes and an anti-hero MMC. It can be read as a standalone.

Reader note: This is an erotic romance novel. The explicit scenes are plentiful, graphic, and intentionally woven throughout the story. If you're seeking a slow-burn romance with minimal spice, this book probably isn't for you.

It is not suitable for readers under the age of 18.

"Only for her. I’ll only ever beg for her."

You know what I love more than an emotionally unavailable fictional man? One who's wearing a cowboy hat and is old enough to be my dad 😛😛😛😛

Pre-read:
my recent reads are really giving "if I like it, I'll just grab it in a different colour"

I’m pretty sure I was the first to leave a rating for this book and I saw someone else’s review saying that seemed a bit unfair so I thought maybe I’d leave my own review to justify myself. But it’s been a week since I’ve read this book and without reading the synopsis to refresh my memory I literally cannot remember a single thing about it, that’s how forgettable it was.

I picked up Whiskey Bluff after seeing it hyped on Instagram as a “steamy Yellowstone.” Spoiler alert: that’s a stretch.
Unless we’re counting the fact that both stories happen on a ranch, there isn’t much comparison. These characters are definitely no Rip and Beth.

Unfortunately, I never connected with the characters enough to care about what happened to them. The writing felt a bit rough around the edges, and it showed that this was likely a debut novel.
And maybe—just maybe—we didn’t need to be reminded every other page that Tori’s nipples pebbled. We got it the first twenty times.

Overall, not for me.

Definitely gave some Yellowstone vibes but with a ton of spice.
I felt like this was super-fast paced and although I might not agree with every choice they make, I couldn't help but root for them.

Very similar to vibes to Yellowstone. I was kinda bummed with the ending of the book. I feel like the there could’ve been more to it. Overall a good easy read though!

Absolute trash lol. 192 pages of no story line, horrible characters & you almost feel like you got dropped into a third season of a TV show and don't know who anyone is. I wanted to like this SO much. Yellowstone? Yes please! This is not Yellowstone...I don't even really know what it was but it needed 200 more pages and some back story/character development. Who's editor allowed this to be published?

Whiskey Bluff completely sucked me in and I couldn’t put it down. The mystery surrounding Tori’s father’s death had me hooked right from the start, but it was the chemistry between Tori and Wyatt that absolutely owned me.

Tori was such a badass FMC. I adored her. She came back to the ranch determined to get answers and she never once backed down, no matter what secrets were thrown at her. She was strong, stubborn, fearless and honestly just such a fun character to follow.

And Wyatt… whew. This man. 🤠🔥 Protective, broody, morally grey and carrying way too many secrets. He had me kicking my feet one minute and wanting to shake him the next. I loved that he wasn’t some perfect hero either. He was flawed, complicated and impossible not to obsess over.

The tension between these two was insane. Every scene between them had me completely invested and when things finally heated up… wow. GK Ryland definitely knows how to write chemistry. The dual POV made me love them both even more and getting inside Wyatt’s head just made me fall harder for him.

I also really enjoyed the darker themes and the suspense woven throughout the story. There were twists I didn’t see coming and I was glued to the pages trying to piece everything together.

If you love age gap romances, possessive anti-heroes, cowboys, mystery, high heat and a badass heroine who doesn’t flinch, Whiskey Bluff delivers all of it. Wyatt and Tori absolutely consumed me and I already know this is one of those books I’ll be thinking about for a long time. G.K. Ryland gave me everything I wanted and more. ❤️🥃🐎🔥

📚 Whiskey Bluff by G.K. Ryland

📖 Plot:
Overall, the plot kept me interested because I constantly wanted to know what was going to happen next. That said, this was a pretty slow book, and there were definitely a few points where I was ready for things to PICK UP already. 😂 I liked the suspense and family secrets, but I think I would have enjoyed it even more with a little more action throughout.

🖤 Characters:
Tori ended up being stronger than anyone thought she would be. Her, Wyatt, and me apparently all underestimated her because she did what needed to be done. 😂 Wyatt was kind of an a-hole for a good chunk of the book, but once he finally got his act together, I liked him much more. He still had that rough cowboy exterior, though, and let's be honest, that's part of why we're here. 🤠

🌶️ Spice:
This was definitely a slow burn... until it wasn't. 🔥 Once things finally started, it was like every chapter had some kind of spicy scene. And while I certainly wasn't complaining about the spice, 😂 it eventually felt like it was taking away from the actual story a little bit.

✨ Ending:
I LOVED seeing them finally put an end to what Tori's dad had started. That part was incredibly satisfying. But I still wanted MORE. I wanted more from Reyes and his men, more suspense, more action, and honestly... just more of everything. I feel like there was so much potential there that could have been explored.

🖤 Overall: 3.5 ⭐

Whiskey Bluff by G K Ryland is a dark age gap cowboy romance with all of the Yellowstone vibes. We follow Tori Hart who’s coming back to her father’s ranch after his mysterious death to find in doing poorly and is looking for answers on both fronts. Wyatt Cole, her father’s number two and Tori’s old crush has been running things in his absence. The two butt heads but there’s an underlying attraction that neither can deny.

It starts quick and stays quick, getting a good amount of story and spice in with just under 200 pages. It asks what if Yellowstone was spicy and delivers exactly that; no more no less. Of course the story of it doesn’t fully envelop what a multi-season show would but it gives a compact version. It’s like if they had a little movie between seasons. There’s not a ton of time spent on cowboying or ranch politics but you can figure it out enough as you go.

Any fan of Yellowstone’s Rip and Beth will find themselves right at home with this one. It’s got spice. It’s got action. It’s got grumpy cowboys. What more could you ask for in a cowboy romance?

I really enjoyed the book. I just felt like I needed more from it. It was a little too short for me and I would have liked a background of what had happened in the past. I feel like having a little bit of a backstory, even if it's just like one, maybe two chapters of it would have helped reel me in just a little more. I definitely do not regret reading this. I am happy that I read it. It was a nice break from very long books that I have been reading. So if I were to recommend it, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is it a reading slump and just needs a short read to get them back at it. This is a great book for it.

Considering this had massive Yellowstone vibes, I was so excited to read this. However, it ended up just being 90% smut (that’s fine- it’s to be expected). But the plot was so rushed- the ending was so rushed? There was lowkey no conclusion and then boom- the epilogue she’s pregnant. I’m like sheesh. This book felt like there was so much more opportunity for story and development and it just wasn’t there. 2.5 stars.

Loved Yellowstone? Give this a read

Do you love cowboy spiciness with a dark side? This is the story for you!

Rural setting, wild west mentality, and so much spice!

I loved Tori's grit, her ability to dig in and not judge. She knew going back would be hard.

And Wyatt! Sin wrapped in boots and jeans. Knowing he has to protect her, but struggling with the woman she's become.

This book was a quick read. But would love to read spin-offs from this.

Yellowstone... I think not

Of you are looking for a book to read after loving Yellowstone... this is not it. The only thing that is like the series is that it's set on a ranch... and not even a ranch anywhere near montana
The story feels like it is the middle of a book. There is little character building, scene setting or true story line.
The spice is great though, but it's just not balanced with a good story that gets you engrosed in the charachters

Ok like it wasn’t terrible. But there was A LOT to be desired. My least favorite part? The fucking absolutely destruction of this plot. You could have made it twice as long and made it 5 starts but just not skipping over the plot like it was just some minor inconvenience between sex scenes. Also to call this a dark romance is a bit of a stretch. Morally grey at best. Overall a decent enough read and it’s fast once you sit down with it. But definitely leaves you a little disappointed.

2 ⭐️ Short book & definitely a spicy age-gap dark romance book but it lacked story line because it was so short. I also didn’t really connect with the main characters Tori and Wyatt.

It’s set on a ranch and they have a fight against a gang/group they borrowed money from - both outside of that no Yellowstone vibes

DNF at 30%. Whole story felt disjointed. Characters were bland. A lot of alluding to issues and trouble but even at only 200ish pages, I could not make myself finish. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation issues. 0/10 do not recommend

too many errors

Found a handful of spelling and grammar errors throughout the book. I think the story line was good but it was lost at parts. I would have liked more of the backstory and even more of a fights instead of all the steamy scenes that also felt too repetitive

Not bad but can be better

I enjoyed the story line bit the writing needs to be a lot better I honestly could have wrote this myself and im not a writer.
I did find it to be predicatable and ending was to be expected. A lot more drama could have been added into this.

Very boring, very repetitive. Not much to the story line and the “smut” was not smutting 🤣
Also, i feel as though there was no character development whatsoever. Bummer, i was super excited to read after seeing it hyped up on TikTok/facebook reels.

Sadly this failed to hit the mark for me.

The storyline lacked any sort of depth, and was super rushed. The characters also felt very one dimensional.

I can see the authors vision, but it just didn’t deliver.
