The U.S.S. Omega launches into battle! Its adversary? A chaotic Klingon cult whose bloodred path is focused purely on obliterating the remaining vestiges of Starfleet. What’s left of the Federation is falling apart by the moment. Captain Sato, who once dreamed of uniting the galaxy, is now living his worst nightmare. He was raised in a time of peace…but no progress comes without a fight. While the Klingons might be his enemies after centuries of peace, he has Kirk as his ally…and no one knows how to defeat a Klingon better than the Federation’s greatest hero.

I liked this issue but the last page makes me nervous. Incredibly powerful woman just wanted to bang Kirk, REALLY? Okay, yes, the Borg Queen trying to score with Enterprise captains is #onbrand, but I am not convinced this is the best direction for either of these characters.

Day 69

This was much better than the previous issue! More of the kind of story I was hoping for. The only thing keeping it from being perfect was the final page. Did they really need to pull that trope out?

Love It!

Kirk taking command is one of my all time favorite comic book moments. This comic will go down in history as a major milestone for Star Trek. And I don’t just mean the comics only … I mean Star Trek. Great work team!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Star Trek: The Last Starship #3
by Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, and Adrian Bonilla

The battle rages on—will Kirk save the day? Issue #3 delivers exactly the kind of high‑stakes, star‑spanning tension that makes this series such a thrill. Kelly and Lanzing keep the pace relentless, and Bonilla’s art amplifies every blast, every clash, every desperate moment as the U.S.S. Omega charges into the fray.

This chapter pushes the Federation to the brink. The Klingon cult tearing across the galaxy feels genuinely dangerous, their blood‑red crusade leaving little hope for what remains of Starfleet. Captain Sato’s arc hits especially hard—once a dreamer of unity, now forced to confront the brutal cost of survival. His desperation, resolve, and fear all land with weight.

And then there’s Kirk. The legend. The wildcard. The ally Sato needs when the galaxy feels like it’s collapsing in on itself. His presence injects that classic Trek spark—the sense that even in the darkest hour, there’s someone who refuses to let the light go out.

This issue is explosive, emotional, and beautifully illustrated. A fantastic read from start to finish, and I absolutely can’t wait for the next installment. The creative team is firing on all thrusters, and the series just keeps getting better.

Pretty solid conclusion to this first “chapter” of THE LAST STARSHIP, but a few hokey moments kept it from being a perfect bit of Trek comics. I really didn’t care for the “bat’leth: maximum scale” bit and it felt like a bit of a cop-out. And apparently Kirk is still quite the ladies man, but boy that last page came out of nowhere! Curious to see where it leads, though. I’m definitely invested in this series now, that’s for sure.

A renegade group of Klingons want to attack Earth and, unfortunately, our heroes aren't quite up to the task of stopping them from their worst atrocities. I like this series as it shows that it is about triange and damage control versus saving the galaxy. Jurati is proving a surprising ally throughout all this and I like how the (surviving) crew bounce off one another.

This story is quite creative and ties nicely into the newer Trek series such as Star Trek Discovery.
