This is not a book about rebellion for rebellion's sake. It’s about living out your faith in a world that often misunderstands or opposes the gospel. Whether you've been a believer for decades or just gave your life to Christ, Rebel will inspire you to see Jesus in a new light and follow Him with boldness. It's a call to live differently, love deeply, and shine brightly in a world that desperately needs hope. Are you ready to join the rebellion?
This is an approachable, inspiring, enjoyable read. It's not preachy in the slightest and isn't "too much" or "too little." It's the perfect length to easily be able to go back time after time. I highly recommend to everyone. Regardless of where you are on your walk with Christ, this book is for you.
It's truly refreshing and wonderfully amazing to read a book so honest, relatable, sad yet joy- and hope-filled, from the humble perspective of an anointed and Holy Spirit-filled young woman! Anne has been a hero of the faith, inspiring countless little girls, teens, and many people young and old. This is a book the whole family should read!
In this world, there are followers of different religions, social media profiles, music, podcasts, clothing brands, models, technology, and so much more. As the title suggests, this book is about Rebels. In this book, Anne Wilson speaks of her personal journey as a REBEL for Jesus.
From the very first pages, the reader learns that to be a REBEL means to obey the Lord. Sometimes obeying will be easy; other times it can seem like the world is caving in. Still, through heartbreak, fear, troubles, and doubts, Anne has held on to Jesus and seen His faithfulness and hopes to help us do the same. Anne Wilson is the youngest daughter of two amazing, God-fearing parents of three children. She lost her eldest brother of 23 years in a tragic car accident.
In reading this book, "Rebel," you will learn about Anne's journey as a well-known country singer of songs about Jesus and not about whiskey. She tells of how courageously she stands for the truth of Jesus before Christians as well as enormous audiences in the secular country music world. Even when people walk away and discard the message of Jesus that we are sharing, a REBEL doesn't falter but instead strengthens themselves in the One who makes His children strong, God.
A REBEL is a true disciple of the Lord, even when the gates of Hell shake and tremble, they stand their ground in the mighty name of Jesus. A REBEL is one of the workers Jesus told His disciples to pray God would send to this desperate world in Matthew 9:35-38.
Matthew says:
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.
I started reading Anne Wilson’s new book and I’m hooked!
As someone who uses my experiences and creativity to be a supportive voice in the digital world of Christian media and has some background in graphic design, everything about the book's cover caught my eye. The colors, graphics, and typography blended well together while remaining in line with Anne’s style and brand!
Becoming acclimated to the text was an easy transition. I love how the first line of the Introduction is to the point and filled with truth. It can’t get better than that! It also didn’t take long to see how personal the book is to Anne and the intimate experience she wishes readers to have.
Additionally, there is a line about “stirring in the soul.” It gets you thinking about life, the Author and Creator, and what we are here for. This feels intentional.
Chapter One begins with a question. That’s a great strategy to draw readers in no matter their background in faith. Questions create discussions, discussions turn into curiosity, and curiosity becomes knowledge. I believe this cycle is one we should challenge ourselves to be in more often. We can be a safe space for someone who is seeking to grow in their relationship with Jesus or doesn’t know Him at all.
Chapter Two goes into who Jesus is and what being a rebel looks like from both standpoints (Christian versus the world). It creates an imagery and time of reflection in the reader’s minds about where they are currently and who they want to be in retrospect to their walk with Christ. This is a vital step.
Chapter Three continues with more of Anne’s personal thoughts and experiences. Without spoiling anything, it confirms how easy a read this truly is. This alone comes across as eye-opening without being intimidating. It holds a simple yet deep message that each of us can learn something from.
Although Chapter Four awaits me, I can already say I recommend this book. It feels inviting and has a lot to offer each person who finds themselves amongst the pages. I hope the opportunity to hear from such a talented individual excites you. Discovering your new favorite author could be closer than you think!
Rebel: Following Jesus When the World Walks the Other Way by Anne Wilson was an inspiring and encouraging listen. While I was familiar with Anne Wilson’s music, I didn’t know much about her personal testimony, so I really enjoyed getting a deeper look into her journey of faith and the experiences that led her to where she is today.
One of my favorite aspects of this book was how Anne seamlessly weaves Scripture into each chapter, breaking down God’s Word and applying it to real-life situations in a way that feels relatable and accessible. Her message consistently points readers back to Christ while encouraging them to live boldly in their faith.
I especially appreciated her emphasis on loving others well. Anne challenges Christians to stand firm in their beliefs without condemning or distancing themselves from people who may think, live, or believe differently. That message feels especially relevant today and serves as a powerful reminder of how we’re called to reflect Christ’s love to everyone around us.
Another takeaway that resonated with me was the reminder that God created each of us intentionally. Rather than hiding the unique qualities He has given us, we’re called to embrace them and use them to bring glory to Him.
The audiobook experience was wonderful, and I loved that it was narrated by Anne Wilson herself. Hearing these stories and reflections in her own voice added an extra layer of authenticity and connection to the message.
If you’re looking for a faith-based read filled with encouragement, biblical wisdom, and practical reminders for living out your faith in today’s world, I recommend giving this one a try
Having been a fan of Anne Wilson from the very beginning, it was a huge blessing to receive an advanced listener copy of her new book, Rebel. Anne absolutely hits the nail on the head with this release, and it is going to be a massive encouragement to so many readers.
At its core, Rebel is about uncovering what it truly means to live a life of bold, uncompromising faith. Anne dives into the heart behind her music, sharing the biblical foundations and personal experiences that inspired her hit songs. She writes openly about the courage it takes to stand up for your beliefs, step out in faith even when it's terrifying, and remain anchored in God's promises when the world tells you to conform. The book is packed with powerful prayers, practical life lessons, and deep biblical encouragement, with Anne beautifully tying every single chapter back to Scripture.
As a mother, I am also just so incredibly thankful that the younger generation has such a wise, godly role model to look up to and be inspired by. Anne's writing is so relevant and grounding for where we are in the world today. I’ve already recommended this book to several people whom I know it will help, and they are so excited to purchase it when it releases next week!
I highly, highly recommend Rebel to everyone looking to deepen their faith and find true, scriptural encouragement. Thank you so much to HarperCollins Christian Publishing and Anne Wilson for this incredible opportunity to listen to and review this beautiful book.
In Rebel, Anne Wilson delivers a powerful challenge to Christians who are tired of blending in with a culture that increasingly pulls people away from God. This book isn’t about rebellion for rebellion’s sake—it’s about becoming a rebel for Christ by standing firmly on God’s truth, even when the world walks the other way.
One of the strongest messages throughout the book is that following Jesus requires courage. Anne reminds readers that being a “rebel” means speaking up and speaking out for the Lord, refusing to hide your faith or water down biblical truth to make others comfortable. In a culture where compromise is often celebrated, she encourages believers to stand firm without apology.
I especially appreciated the reminder that Jesus Himself was a rebel in many ways. He challenged religious hypocrisy, confronted sin, overturned cultural expectations, and boldly proclaimed truth regardless of the consequences. His life demonstrates that true rebellion isn’t against God—it’s against the sinful patterns of the world.
Anne’s writing is honest, relatable, and deeply rooted in Scripture. She encourages readers to examine whether they are truly following Jesus or simply trying to fit in. Her message echoes Christ’s own words: “Whoever is not with me is against me.” There is no middle ground when it comes to following Jesus. We are called to live differently, love boldly, and stand for truth even when it’s unpopular.
Rebel is both inspiring and convicting. It challenges believers to stop compromising, stop hiding, and start living out their faith with boldness and conviction. If you’re looking for encouragement to follow Jesus wholeheartedly and stand firm in a world that often opposes Him, this book is well worth reading.
Rating: 5/5 Stars
A timely and powerful reminder that following Jesus means choosing faithfulness over popularity and truth over compromise.
If you are looking to stand out from the crowd and follow Jesus more closely, this book is for you. Anne Wilson does a masterful job of defining the key characteristics.of what it means to be a “rebel” who is all in for Jesus and willing to follow him regardless of the cost.
Anne shares heartfelt personal experiences about how the Lord shaped her into becoming a rebel for Jesus. She covers in detail insightful stories about Jesus with applicable Scriptural verses that challenge and inspire the reader to set everything aside to follow Jesus and to base one’s identity on Christ alone.
This book is full of practical wisdom and serves as a great guide for Christians who are looking to step out in faith and use their gifts and calling to advance the kingdom and point others to Jesus.
Whether you have been following Christ for many years or are seeking to know Jesus, I would highly recommend this highly insightful and inspirational book!
This book is so incredible! I loving every moment of it! The book is truly helping to understand my identity of being a daughter of the most high king and not having to fit into the world views but only being a follower of Jesus! This book is also giving me like oh maybe I should be doing that instead of… like when folllowing Jesus wholeheartedly meaning actually taking the steps and being a follower listening, praying and not being afraid to speak Jesus out!! Walking with Jesus is never easy and Anne tells us that but Anne also shares that when we are following Jesus we need courage we are taking Jesus into the world and not following the world views we need some courage. This book is continuous filled with biblical wisdom from sweet Anne!!
I have not quite finished Rebel yet, but I have already learned so much from it. Anne Wilson does an amazing job encouraging readers to stand strong in their faith and be bold for Christ, even when it is difficult. One of my favorite parts of the book is when she talks about how God wants us to be either hot or cold for Him—not lukewarm. That message really challenged me to think about my own walk with Christ and how I can live more passionately for Him every day.
As a longtime fan of Anne Wilson, I love how personal, honest, and faith-filled this book is. Rebel is inspiring, encouraging, and full of reminders to put God first and not be afraid to stand out for what you believe. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to grow closer to God and learn what it means to be a true rebel for Christ
I've only read a few chapters of this book and I'm absolutely amazed! I love how Anne relates things to her life! I believe in this world today we need this reminder to stand bold in your faith and to not be afraid to lay everything down and follow Jesus! I’ve always loved Anne Wilson’s music, but Rebel: Following Jesus When the World Walks Away completely blew me away. This book is exactly the wake-up call culture needs right now.
What resonated with me the most is Anne’s refreshing honesty. She doesn’t sugarcoat the Christian walk; instead she boldly reminds us that walking with Jesus was never meant to be easy. Writing with incredible vulnerability, she shares her own struggles and the real cost of standing out when the world walks away.
It’s a deeply encouraging reminder that being a “rebel” for Christ isn’t about being loud - it’s about a fierce, quiet faithfulness. If you need a fire lit under your faith to stand firm in your convictions, read this book!
Absolutely loved Rebel. Anne shares her story with so much vulnerability and faith that it truly feels like she’s sitting across from you, having a heart-to-heart conversation.
What I loved most about Rebel is how it challenges you to live boldly for Christ, even when it’s uncomfortable or countercultural. Anne reminds readers that being a “rebel” isn’t about going against the world for attention, but about standing firm in faith, trusting God’s plan, and choosing obedience over fear.
This book is full of hope, truth, and reminders that God is faithful through every season. If you’ve ever felt stuck, discouraged, or unsure of your purpose, Rebel will meet you right where you are and point you back to Jesus. It’s a book I’ll be coming back to again and again!
REBEL is extremely well written, packed with great advice, and interspersed with humor. This book is a wonderful and refreshing book for young girls. Anne Wilson does a wonderful job engaging her readers while encouraging them to be OK with standing out as Christian’s. She points girls back to the cross and reminds them their identity is not found in the world but in who God says they are. I highly recommend it for girls of all ages, but especially preteen girls as they enter puberty, are faced with navigating friendships, & are just all around confronted and faces with more conflict and challenges.
I really enjoyed Anne Wilson's second book, Rebel. It was full of honesty and a vulnerability that was very refreshing. The lessons and prayers that Wilson includes allowed for a lot of reflection and deep thought. Anne Wilson's faith and commitment to God is inspiring. The chapter on people-pleasing was very eye-opening and gave me a lot to think about as a chronic people-pleaser. Overall, I enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend it, especially for fans of Wilson's music.
"Am I making real peace or protecting pretend peace?"
This is the perfect book for anyone craving more of Jesus and less of themselves. We fight our flesh daily and Anne gives plenty of personal and biblical knowledge and wisdom to encourage you on your walk with Christ. This book is motivating in many ways to pick up your cross and follow Him, to be a rebel for Him! The world is small compared to Him and Heaven is a lot more exciting than this earth we are passing through. If you are deciding on the book, it's a yes. Go be a Rebel for Jesus!
The Rebel book is so encouraging. Anne Wilson has such an amazing testimony. My daughter who is 14 absolutely adores her as well. We both are going through the book together. We love how bold Anne is in her faith and this book is such a good reminder to us to be bold and not be afraid. I also love that at the end of each chapter she has a prayer. This is such a well thought out book that will encourage all ages. Great job Anne!!
If you want to learn to be a rebel for Jesus who's not afraid to stand out from the crowd and live boldly for Jesus then this book is for you. This book has been such an encouragement for me. My faith has really grown from reading this book. Anne Wilson offers both Scriptures and her own personal experiences to encourage us all to live boldly and unashamed for Jesus in our everyday walk with Jesus.
Anne Wilson does a wonderful job of connecting the idea of what it means to be a REBEL in the Christian perspective! She thoughtfully connects her stories and experiences and provides examples of how Jesus was a “rebel.” A core theme found throughout this book is to encourage others to follow Jesus even when the crowds pick different paths. This book feels like you are sitting down with Anne and talking over a cup of coffee! Highly recommend!
I must say first that I don't usually write reviews, but I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to stand up and be a Rebel for Jesus. Anne does an amazing job sharing parts of her life, along with Jesus' life, to set a powerful example. In a world that isn't fully with God, we are called to be the light of the world and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ—even if that means rebellion against the ways of this world.
I just heard about Anne Wilson a few months ago. Since then I’ve been obsessed with her music & went to my first concert of hers. There I picked up the book My Jesus & after reading it I knew Rebel was going to be amazing. I’m only a few chapters in but don’t wait on preordering your copy. She is so wise for her age & really connects you to the word. I’m excited to continue on with the next chapter.
A powerful book that will get you pumped to be a rebel for Christ! This world will lead you astray but reading Anne's words give you the excitement to persevere. She quotes the scripture beautifully and explains how we can follow Jesus unabashedly in a world who will call us different, weird, out there or crazy rebels.
It is so refreshing to read Anne's words regarding her faith and trust in Jesus Christ. It gives me great hope for her generation as they come up in the world. If you haven't listening to Anne's music, you need to tune in. Start with "My Jesus" and go from there. You won't be sorry.
This book is easy to read and encouraging as we go through life's challenges. I highly recommend it!
Anne has a lot of wisdom to offer considering how young she is. As a middle aged woman, I wish I had someone like Anne to look up to when I was younger. Anne has a lot of insight into what it means to live a life for God. I enjoy the prayers she has at the end of each chapter and the things I was asked to reflect on,
Rebel is an amazing book! I especially love how Anne shares stories from her own life about how she's gone against culture and stood firm for Jesus. Though, at the same time, she does a really good job of helping people realize how serious it is that they really are committed to following Jesus, because there's really no in-between. I would highly recommend.
4.5 (listened to audiobook) Love her!! So cool to hear about what God is doing in her life since she started in music. I admire her standing firm in the faith on and off stage. Still not sure how I feel about JMCs or John Bevere’s theology so my ears perked up a bit when she brought them up. Overall, this book was so encouraging to me!
So far this book is fabulous. I understand being a Rebel as a Christian and that Jesus was a Rebel too. Christians are just following in his footsteps. A must read to strength your faith and walk with the Lord. Every Christian is a Rebel!
