A Death in 4D

Autumn has arrived in Seattle, and in the spirit of letting go, the Morrisey is forced to say goodbye to longtime resident Edna Felder. Meg and Laurie join their neighbors in celebrating the woman’s life at a wake that turns into more of a lavish party to commemorate Edna. The celebrating ends abruptly when everyone returns from the gathering to find a dead stranger in the middle of apartment 4D.

When the only eyewitnesses to the crime give conflicting information, the building turns to Meg to figure out who’s responsible. In addition to her ghostly assistance, Meg has Detective Amaya Anthony’s help again, and she’s confident they’ll be able to solve this case quickly. Well, she is until the clues begin to point toward multiple residents within the building.

Will Meg be able to keep the Morrisey together when it looks like one of their own is bent on tearing everyone apart?

Perfect for fans of Eryn Scott’s Pebble Cove Teahouse Mysteries, this new series follows Meg and a lovable cast of residents, both living and not, as they navigate strange happenings in their eccentric downtown Seattle building. While each mystery is a standalone, the series is best read in order to avoid spoilers.

Eryn Scott is the author of heartwarming cozy mysteries. Her novels feature close friendships and strong families because those are the most important things in her life -- a little humor doesn't hurt either.

She calls the Pacific Northwest home and doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon. Eryn loves to hike, horseback ride, knit, ski, and read. She believes musicals are the greatest thing since lattes, even though she's not particularly good at singing or dancing -- hey, a girl can dream, right?

Her first cozy mystery series, Pepper Brooks, is based on some of the greats in classic literature. Each book features a different author from Shakespeare to Austen. Eryn's newest series is set in a little town called Stoneybrook. The Stoneybrook Mysteries follow local jam-maker Hadley James as she solves mysteries in her town's year-round farmers market. From deceased knitters to sabotaged florists, these crafty citizens keep Hadley and her twin brother, a deputy sheriff, on their toes. Pebble Cove Teahouse Mysteries are great for readers who love a hint of paranormal with their mysteries. These books feature a tiny town tucked between craggy coastline and rocky shores with quirky characters of both the living and non-living variety. Look for new releases from all three of these series in 2022 as well as Eryn Scott's new cozy series.

Of COURSE, 5 stars!

Every Eryn Scott book I've read has been a 5 star rating (they'd be higher if there was a bigger number), and I knew this would be, too. This is book 7 in the delightful Murder at the Morrisey series, a combination of wonderful, relatable characters, a solid story-line, a bit of romance, and a good mystery.

The people (and ghosts) who live at the Morrisey are unique and interesting - every one of them. The relationships are so well done and tug at my heart.

As always, the story is told by Meg, In this one, after a memorial gathering for Edna, a dead body is discovered inside one of the other apartments on the 4th floor. Meg works to figure out what happened and who the killer was. It's hard for her to suspect her fellow tenants at the Morrisey. Meanwhile, her tether to Ripley has gotten longer, and with Ripley's new ghost boyfriend taking her time, Meg is feeling the loss of her friend being around all the time.

There are a few other mysteries going on, with Detective Amaya working several cases at once.

The ending actually had me in tears. SUCH a great book from one of my favorite authors!

For the full experience and to understand all that’s going on, it’s best to read all the books in the series in order. This is book 7 and the series is still going strong, maybe even better than ever since so many folks know about Meg's ability by now and really rely on her. Ripley is developing her own relationships and while it's sad that Meg and Ripley aren't together all the time, it makes their time together extra special. So nice to see the strong relationships and dynamics with all the Morrisey residents, and while it was sad to see Edna pass on, it's nice that her great granddaughter, Taylor, fits so well with the other residents. Lots of mystery and plenty of helpers. Definitely a favorite series. Looking forward to the next adventure at the Morrisey.

Another delightful trip to visit friends at the Morrisey and I loved every minute.
This is book seven in this uniquely entertaining series, although with the usual ghost Ripley busy, Meg has to do most of the investigating on her own this time round. The ghosts are still present, it's just finding one that is willing to help, especially as it friends that Meg finds herself looking into. You would think not having the ghosts help in a paranormal cozy mystery would mean it wouldn't work or the story would fall flat but that is not the case. Instead of relying on the ghosts Meg had to find other ways to investigate and of course she still had one of two ghosts to help along the way, which was amusing. This series continues to entertain and delight readers, which is why I am glad there is another book in the works and long may it continue.

I love the characters. This was a hard one for Meg with the only suspects being her fellow residents, especially as they have came to feel like family during the course of the series. That's also why I would recommend reading the books in order because they might be written as standalone mysteries but they are certainly enjoyed a lot more when read in order.
As for the mystery it was a lot of fun, even with the ghosts a lot quieter than normal. As we get to know the residents better and uncovering there quirky secrets lead to a few chuckles. I was right with my suspect but I think that was more down to I didn't want it to be one of the others. I can't wait for the audio book because it's the type of book that even if you know the results it's still fun to enjoy again.

With the death of long time resident Edna, the Morrisey holds a celebration party in her honour. The party is brought to an abrupt end when a dead body is discovered in the doorway of 4D. With nobody else in the building and fellow residents of the forth floor acting werid, Megan begins to believe one of her floor mates might have accidentally killed the burglar. At the same time the bond between Megan and Ripley is bending and Ripley finds herself being tethered to a young fostered girl. The same girl who foster brother was killed in the same accident that detective Amaya is investigating. Can Meg solve the murder in the building with out her bestfriend? Maybe, as she is not entirely ghost free and of course she has always got her friends at the Morrisey to help too. Can Ripley help the young girl and find her way back to Meg?

After gathering to celebrate the life of long term resident, Edna Felder, the Morrisey residents are confronted with another murder in the building. Now knowing Meg’s supernatural quirk, all eyes turn to her to solve it with her ghostly help. However, Ripley has already been spending less time with Meg, and soon discovers she’s tethered to a young hit and run accident victim. Detective Amaya is on hand, although she is swamped with several difficult cases including the hit and run and a string of burglaries. After some of her neighbors are acting evasive and out of character, Meg fears that one of them might be the killer. In the course of searching for clues, Meg meets some new ghosts, including a very surprising one. Amid contradictory witness statements and hidden secrets, can Meg piece together the latest mystery?

Eryn Scott adds another fantastic installment to her Morrisey mystery series with A Death in 4D. Meg and Laurie are definite couple goals and I love how supportive the Morrisey family is towards Meg’s gift. Her complicated feelings about the changes in her bond with Ripley rang true and I really like the direction that storyline is going in. We get to know a few more of the Morrisey residents better. The fourth floor gathering was great lovely as was the birthday party for Taylor. The way the various cases intertwine and are resolved is quite clever, as are the unfinished businesses of the various ghosts. The teamwork to trap the killer was ingenious. There is also a reference to a Seattle viral sensation that was a fun Easter egg integrated neatly into the story. While the mystery wraps up completely, Ms. Scott introduces a hint to the next one in the final moments of the book.

Meg does it again! This time she, her ghosts, and her friends juggle not one, not two, but FIVE unsolved mysteries! This adventure starts with Edna's funeral, but a dead body interrupts their Celebration of Life, and it's not Enda's. Someone is dead in the doorway of 4D. Since the Morrisey residents now all know that Meg can talk to ghosts, they expect her to solve the murder lickety-split. Unfortunately, Meg cannot rely on her ghost-friend Riley to help her because Riley has discovered she is tethered to a new little girl, who is a hit-and-run victim and needs help finding who hurt her. Then Edna's ghost shows up! Wait, she wasn't murdered, so why is her spirit looking for closure? While Meg suspects and follows other Morrisey residents for the murder in 4D, she discovers a burglary spree and a shake-down expert who was shot in the back. Good grief! Between Nancy's announcement that she's leaving the Morrisey and Wendell's lost snake, everyone is in a tizzy, not just the ghosts and Meg. By the end, only four of the five mysteries have been solved. Obviously, Eryn Scott has another installment up her sleeve. Meg and Riley need more answers; plus, Aunt Penny is returning stateside to get married. It is never a dull moment at the Morrisey.

Such a lovely series! I've read every book in the series and it just continues to be a favorite of mine. Meg has this ability to speak to people who have passed away while having some kind of unfinished business. She often finds herself helping them and sometimes they help her solve crimes. When a body is found in an apartment in the Morrissey, Meg finds herself lacking ghostly help.

I love this series and while I always find it a little sad dealing with people who have passed away, this book was a little sadder than usual. Although there were definitely some happy moments, some sweet romance, and great relationships - everything that I love about this series. I'm really interested to see how things unfold with Meg and Ripley. And the ending- I need the next installment in the series right away!

A Death in 4D is the 7th Book in the Morrisey Mystery series by Eryn Scott.
I highly recommend reading the previous books for the most enjoyment.

And boy do I really enjoy these books!!!!

Sad to see Edna pass (not a spoiler) and the building tenants gather for the memorial. F

There is a murder in 4D and now that everyone knows about Meg's gift, they think she will be able to solve it fast, there are other factors in play. Like the fact that her ghostly friend Ripley is not tethered to her all the time.

There are multiple mysteries in this one and they are all written so well.
Simultaneously written with twists and surprises.

I really enjoy Taylor, Edna's granddaughter.

I love the Morrissey and this one had a lot of surprises!!!

Looking forward to more stories from the Morrisey!

Another fun edition of one of my favourite cosy murder mystery series!

With multiple mysteries to solve, A Death in 4D will keep you thoroughly entertained. Each story so far has been so incredibly quirky and unique: the people, as well as the ghosts of The Morrisey, are very special and will always be a pleasure to read.

This story did feel massively different to the others, not so much in a negative way, but in a way that a reader has to get used to character dynamics changing. Ripley is one of my favourite characters ever, and not having her as much as I would've liked throughout this one did feel odd, but I am very curious to see how her story progresses.

Overall, an amazing cosy read as usual with the most funny and quirky characters.

Ugh I just love being able to jump back into the Morrisey series. If you have not read this series yet and you love cozy mysteries with a hint of ghosts, it’s a must.

Meg, Laurie, Ripley and all the other characters in this series are such an endearing, quirky family.

While I was able to predict a lot of the plot points in this one, I still very much enjoyed the ride. I laughed out loud at so many points because of the antics of Art, Darius, Wendell, and the rest of the crew.

When the day comes that this series is over I’m going to be seriously sad, but for now I anxiously await the next in series!

Thank you to Eryn Scott for the ARC copy of the ebook. This review is my own opinion.

ARC review, copy of book received for honest review.
I love Meg so much!!!
This one hit me in the feelings a lot more than the others!

Now that the whole Morrisey gang and detective Amaya know about Meg’s special ghost seeing ability, we can see the relationships grow.
Meg is more on her own this book without much ghostly help. It’s interesting to see how she’s able to solve this case mostly on her own.

“I’d gotten comfortable with the idea that Ripley would simply always be with me”

Once again, Eryn Scott is an auto-buy for me, can’t wait for our next Morrisey adventure!

What a great addition to the series! As always, we meet new ghosts, explore new areas of the neighborhood, and have more than one mystery to solve.

This book was special because, now that the Morrisey residents and Detective Amaya know about Meg's abilities, she's really able to work to her full potential. I love how much time we spend in the Morrisey in this book and especially fell in love with the 4th floor.

This series is best when read in order to understand the backstories and relationships between all the characters.

Another enjoyable visit to the Morrissey. There are a lot of things that happen in this book and although it can be enjoyed as a standalone, I recommend reading the other books in the series. This was a wonderful addition to the series. I love the paranormal element of the ghosts. I am happy for Riley and sad for Meg that they are more distant. However, it keeps the storyline fresh. I can't recommend this series enough.

Not again?!

There are some serious sniffles in this one for those who’ve been following from the beginning. Some changes but not bad just a little sad. The case is in a word wacky. If it happened irl you’d think it was made up lol. Perfect for a Morrisey story full of ghosts, strong and unique personalities and shenanigans galore. I was amused, baffled, sniffling and laughing in equal measure. I love this building and its quirky crew. It’s not just a group of apartments it’s a family. Great story!

Thank you so much Eryn Scott for the eARC of A Death in 4D. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m back in my favorite fictional apartment building and I never want to leave! There is something so cozy and welcoming about Eryn Scott’s A Murder at the Morrisey Series. The helpful friendly ghosts, the quirky apartment residents, and the furry companions have a permanent place in my heart. Turning the pages of a new installment always feels a bit like coming home, and A Death in 4D was no exception!

As usual, I didn’t figure out who the mürderer was until the very end, but I had so much fun theorizing who it could be! I also really enjoyed the pieces of the real world, such as Jimothy and last summer’s World Cup, that made it onto the page. I love it when a story I’m reading makes connections to my real life experiences, so this was a special surprise!

The plot for the next book, A Mürder in the Mailroom, was set up perfectly in the last chapter. I have so many questions I need answers to, especially as they pertain to our FMC Meg’s ghostly bff, Ripley. She had some HUGE things happen to her in this book and I’m dying to discover what it all means! You better believe I’ll be thinking about this book until the next installment is in my hands!

In the pages, you will find:
🍁Major fall vibes
🎨An artist FMC
❤️A swoon-worthy boyfriend
👻Friendly and helpful ghosts
🔎A perplexing mystery
🤝Found family
🚫No spice

Meg has a new type of mystery on her hands...well, not really. I mean, she's still dealing with an unexpected death in her building, but this time her regular ghosts aren't around to help her figure things out. That said, she somehow managed to clear out a bunch of open cases for Amaya while attempting to solve the death that happened in the building.

This also looks to mark a turning point for Meg and Riley. With Meg not needing her as much (and the tether tying her to Meg stretching), Riley has been spending time with her ghostly boyfriend. Not having the person who's been with her through thick and thin by her side takes a little for Meg to get used to. Amaya has also recruited (sort of) Riley to help with another case, so Riley is spending even more time away from Meg.

Meanwhile, Meg is attempting to figure out who's behind the break-in and subsequent death. The old-fashioned way, but not really since she can talk to ghosts and all that. Let's just say she has to hit the mean streets of Seattle, eat a whole bunch of delicious bar food, and help a ghost or two find some closure. It's always fun at the Morrisey!

These books are such a treat. To fully enjoy this series it should be read in order. Not only because of excellent character development from one book to the next but because there are a lot of characters. All the residents of The Morrisey plus a handful of recurring characters plus enough new people introduced to make the murderer and motive a surprise.

The author has again expertly woven multiple storylines together. The relationship between Meg and her ghost, Ripley, is changing but the explanation is done delicately and with compassion. Those of us who have known them both for years, will feel the heartache.

As an area native, the squee I squeeled when Jimothy got a shout out. I feel so much better knowing the ghosts have his back, adorably shortened though it may be.

This was an excellent installment, with several ghosts and murders to solve. I enjoyed the fact that Meg is open with Laurie and the other residents about her ghostly visitors. And it was fun seeing them collectively help in some of the cases.
