Reading Him Wrong

Rate this book
She hides in books. He sees her anyway.

Jasper

When my sister asks me to date her best friend, I don't say no.

Are you kidding? Sarah Tolliver has owned me since the day we met.

What my sister forgets to mention? The shy little bookworm doesn't know I'm her date. And she's hiding a lifetime of grief behind those pretty eyes.

I show up anyway. I scare off the guy hitting on her. I take her home with me.

And I make one thing She's mine.

She thinks love is something that breaks you. But I've spent my life protecting what matters.

I'll be her shield. I'll keep her safe.

And I won't ever fail her.

Sarah

Getting roped into a blind date by my best friend was destined to end in disaster. But I didn't expect to be propositioned before drinks…or to be rescued by him.

I've loved Jasper Medlock in secret for years. But he belonged to the Navy. I belonged nowhere.

Until now.

The way he looks at me should scare me. The way he calls me his should send me running.

It doesn't.

But I've already lost my entire family. Risking my heart with the only man who's ever held it?

That might be the most terrifying thing I'll ever do.

I've never been brave.

But for him, I want to be.

About the series
Good girls need spicy books. At least, that's the philosophy at this small-town bookstore. But the group of bookish friends who call the store home never planned for the feral men willing to fall at their feet...or for the lengths they'd go to secure their own happily-ever-afters.

Now, they're up to their elbows, in over their heads, and the only experience they have with navigating love comes from the books they read.

What could possibly go wrong?

Book of Love is a small-town rom-com series set in Wine Country that's high on heat and laughter, and low on drama.

This book has me ignoring everything else in my life right now. I love a good book with mutual pining and a man that's obsessed with her. Jasper is perfect! That man could do no wrong in my eyes. He saw Sarah in a way that no one else saw her. He wanted her happy and with him forever. I loved that so much. Sarah was also great! She needed someone to be there for her and Jasper was the perfect man for the job. I just love them so much!

I was nervous going into this one because I am not a fan of the daddy k1nk but I LOVE Nichole Rose. So.. trust her, go for the ride, see what happens, right?
As usual, I laughed so much. I swooned over Jasper and loved Sarah. I very much enjoyed revisiting Olive and Mason and their chaos (if you havent read their book, go do it). Am I still in the camp of not loving the daddy k1nk, yeah, but honestly it hit differently and I didnt hate it when Nichole writes it. So, maybe there's hope for me, or more likely that Nichole Rose is just that good!

Jasper stands there for a long moment, taking deep breaths, before he turns to face me. "You good, baby girl?

Not my favorite by this author. Her work is normally so much better than this. Felt hollow. It was simply “ok/fine” but definitely not good or great.

I didn’t like the ‘love talk’ in this book

Sarah and Jasper's story was not my usual cup of tea. It was a daddy/baby girl theme, and I didn’t pick that up from the synopsis. Their story did have some humour, particularly with his sister.

Nichole Rose has completely abandoned her safety readers. Avoid.

Unfortunately you can't even enjoy this SHORT ASS READ because you're getting BEAT OVER THE HEAD about how much a loner virgin Sarah has been her whole life until Jasper comes along and "brings her to life" like she's a pristine fuck doll that ONLY he gets to play with when only after he's done playing the field with other women for the past 3 years while in the Navy. Good lord I WANT TO VOMIT.

Sarah has absolutely no other discernible qualities except:
-virgin
-lived in romantic isolation her WHOLE LIFE
-dead family
-works in a bookstore
-DID I MENTION SHE'S A VIRGIN (obviously her parents only gave birth for the sole purpose for Jasper to be able to take her virginity cuz DUH)

Unfortunately NR is joining the trend of hypocritical authors who insist upon their heroines living a completely isolating and romantically devoid life as VIRGINS (seriously??? WHAT IS WRONG WITH WOMEN HAVING SEX IF YOUR HERO IS A REFORMED MILITARY MANWHORE??) while their heroes can not only SAMPLE other women's pussies and enjoy the natural human development of adult dating life. (Jasper has known Sarah for 3 years but made no move towards her but enjoyed his life *ahem other women on the side while he "loved her")

Jasper only wants her because he doesn't want anyone else to have her.
For the first time since I met her a few years ago, we're living in the same place. I'll never be shipped out again. If Olive is telling me the truth, every reason I had for not pursuing her gorgeous best friend is gone.

Sarah could be mine.

Or I can stand around with my dick in my hand and a stupid look on my face while she finds happiness with someone else.

Jasper had a very fulfilling romantic life and has had his cake and ate it too with A BUNCH of OW but he RELISHES the fact that he gets to be the ONLY man that has enjoyed Sarah's attention but also the absolutely SMUG attitude about taking her virginity. TALK ABOUT SLIMY.

I know she's never been with anyone.

She doesn't have to tell me for me to know it. Just like she doesn't have to tell me about the army of toys she keeps in her room. I know the same way I know most things about her—because I've been studying her for years, watching her so intently, she's the only thing I ever see.

Also the daddy kink falls flat when you the romance between the two is completely devoid of devotion on his part because he not only has had other women but had to be pushed to approach her romantically. Honestly I just miss the old NR...

⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
Virgin h (this serves no purpose and is giving forced purity- she's a brand new toy for the hero)
VERY EXPERIENCED/Reformed Manwhore (fucked around A TON - in the military/ Olive worries that Jasper brought home another woman when she goes to speak to him 🙄)
Best friend's brother
Daddy kink
TW: family death, maternal abandonment, grief trauma
No cheating/ Not really OW (Olive know's his past with OW so she shows up at his house and is worried he brought another woman home because his house smells like sex)
HEA

0/5 I would recommend Lucy Darling, MINK, etc etc if you need a quick safe read to get out of a slump because they haven't yet turned on their safety readers. There is no gratuitous manwhore writing that serves no other purpose than to make the hero look "cool" or "experienced" when the heroine is written to be some pathetic simpering little virgin that can't even look men in the eye. Women who have had sex before meeting the MMC are also deserving of and HEA. THE FUCK??

**It’s Always Been You!**

"Reading Him Wrong" is the third book in the Book of Love series. Jasper knew the moment he met Sarah, his little sister Olive's best friend, three years ago, that she was meant to be his "baby girl." However, at that time, he was still active in the military, and Sarah feared risking her friendship with Olive by expressing her feelings for Jasper. Fortunately, with Olive's meddling and nudging, Jasper finally took the leap to claim Sarah for himself.

Their connection is instant, and their chemistry is undeniably spicy, complete with dirty talk and "Daddy" scenarios that I absolutely love. The fun and flirty banter between Jasper and Sarah is engaging, as they get to know each other on a deeper level. Sarah opens up about her past, allowing Jasper to support her and encouraging her to confide in her best friend, Olive.

Rose has once again outdone herself with Jasper and Sarah. You can't help but fall in love with their characters and the interconnected world of supporting characters. Each story features a different couple, yet we still get glimpses of past and future characters, making it easy to fully immerse yourself in this amazing world. It leaves you wanting more and eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series!

Earn your wrinkles...I absolutely love that! This book was beautiful in so many different ways, but that line really stood out to me. Jasper and Sarah have secretly been in love with each other since they met 3 years ago, but because Olive is both Jasper's little sister and Sarah's best friend they don't act on it. Sarah also has a lot of trauma and attachment issues because of it that hold her back from making a move, and Jasper was a SEAL who didn't want to put her through that lifestyle until after he retired. I loved how patient Jasper was with her and how he knew exactly what she needed, sometimes more than she did. I also love the Daddy books, so this was a great one for me! There was no age regression or true DDlg stuff, just a man who wants to protect, comfort and hold her through everything. As soon as he realized Olive was okay with it, and that Sarah wasn't actually afraid of him, he was all in and the man was obsessed! I also loved Olive in her own book (Between Her Pages) because of how much of a hot mess she was, but she is hilarious in this one and I really enjoyed getting to see more of her antics. No cheating or OM/OW drama, virgin FMC/unknown history for MMC, no condoms, Daddy kink, dual POV, HEA and a sweet epilogue 2 years in the future. Can't wait to find out why Jazz is in jail and who the crazy man is that attempts to tame her!

Reading Him Wrong is book 3 of the Book Of Love Series and it's amazing.

We get Jasper (Olive's Brother and also the FMC of Between Her Pages book 2 of the series) and Sarah long term friend of Olive's whose also a little shy and distant.

Jasper and Sarah have mutually wanted one another for the last three years, but not have kept it hidden from the other. Finally Olive and her meddling, but well meaning ways gets the two of them on a date where naturally the pull between them is strong and they finally get one another.

While this is a brilliant instalove story, Sarah has an emotional backstory which will make your heart ache for her. It gives us an insight into why she's as reserved as she is, and why she keeps her head in her books.

What to expect
💜 Dual POV
💜 Instalove
💜 Interlinking Characters
💜 Best Friend's Brother
💜 Steamy Scenes
💜 Long Term Mutual Pining
💜 Interconnected Standalone
💜 Found Family
💜 Mild Angst
💜 Protective Alpha MMC
💜 Shy and Reserved FMC
💜 Light Hearted Moments
💜 Pure Love
💜 HEAs

Another fantastic read from Nichole, I love everything I've read of hers so knew this would be another hit. Can't wait to see where the series goes from here I'm excited for Jazz's story.

This is the 3rd book in the Book of Love series featuring Jasper and Sarah's sweet and heartwarming,page-turning love story. Jasper and Sarah have both had feelings for each other but they never acted on them and they both thought that they were hiding their feelings for each other from Jasper's sister Olive who is Sarah's best-friend. However Olive knows all about their feelings and she decides to do something about it by helping them finally act on them. Olive approaches Jasper with her crazy idea about Sarah and he agrees since he's been in love with her for years. Olive forces Sarah to go on a blind date that will change the rest of her life. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this sweet and heartwarming, page-turning love story to see what happens. I would definitely recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series.

4.25 stars

This is book three in the author’s Book of Love series and we finally got the story of Sarah and Jasper, Olive’s (from Between Her Pages) former Navy SEAL brother.

I’m kinda torn about this one. On the one hand, Jasper was incredible. He was so sweet and hot with all the daddy and baby girl stuff… and, did I say incredible? Well, he was but I’m just not interested in all of the spanking. Before I got to that part, I was already planning a reread; I hadn’t even finished reading it the first time and it was already a 5+++ read but then it took a hit, changing it from a 5 star to a 4.25. Obviously this was just my personal opinion; other than the aforementioned spanking, it’s an amazing book so check it out for yourself!

Like winning the lottery...if the lottery were orgasms!

The best kind of crazy, the chemistry between Jasper and Sarah has been building, sizzling and sparking for three years. Jasper is finally home for good and it's time for him to claim his woman, he's possessive and demanding in the best way, nothing is off limits, he wants her secrets, her pain and her fears and in return he will be her safety, her fantasy, her future, her everything, her...Daddy. You cannot resist falling for Sarah and Jasper, the way they tolerate Olive and her crazy schemes would be enough, but seeing the bond form between them as Jasper fights every one of her demons and earns her trust, has you willingly handing your heart over. I enjoyed every dirty page of this book, which I read on Kindle Unlimited. I look forward to Jazz's book next.

Jasper has had feelings for his sister’s best friend Sarah for a few years however it isn’t until his sister tells him that she has feelings for him as well that he decides to pursue her and there is no better time than now. When his sister sets up a date for them he is the one surprised as she didn’t know the date was with him.

Sarah has had feelings for her best friend’s brother for a while but doesn’t think he would be interested in her. When he shows up to rescue her from who she believes is her blind date it changes everything especially when she trusts him with her past.

I enjoyed how supportive Olive, Jasper’s sister and Sarah’s best friend, was of their relationship and how the love and support of Jasper allowed Sarah to open up to those who love her about her tumultuous past.

This is book number 3 of the Book of Love series and focuses on Jasper and Sarah. Jasper and Sarah have been in love with each other for years but various factors, including that Sarah is Jasper’s sister's best friend, led to neither one saying anything and loving each other from afar. When Jasper retires from the military and moves back home, his sister sets him up with Sarah but doesn’t tell Sarah who her date is per se. That one date was all it took for them to go after each other but deep rooted fear keeps Sarah from opening all the way initially. Jasper was wonderful with Sarah and gave her the love and peace that she had been missing for so long. This was a great story and a great addition to the series.

Oh my Daddy!! Reading Him Wrong by Nichole Rose is a Daddy book!! I want to shout it from the rooftops. I love Nichole’s daddies! Jasper Medlock is in love with is little sister’s best friend, Sarah Tolliver. Sarah Tolliver is love with her best friend’s big brother. Neither of them will make a move because they do not want to risk Olive, the best friend and little sister. That is until the little sister and best friend takes matters into her own hands. Olive knows the two most important people in her life are in love with each other. When she sets up her best friend on a blind date, and then sets up a dating profile for her big brother, chaos ensues!!! From the first word, the banter, the spice, Sarah’s heartbreaking story, I could not put it down!!!

Reading Him Wrong, the third installment in the Book of Love series, continues to deliver exactly what readers have come to expect—heart, humor, and deeply engaging relationships. The story weaves in delightful moments of laughter while also offering glimpses of Olive and Mason, adding a satisfying sense of continuity to the series.

Jasper and Sarah’s chemistry is undeniable, bringing both intensity and tenderness to the page. Sarah’s backstory is particularly moving, adding emotional depth that makes her journey all the more compelling. Watching her gradually lower her guard and allow Jasper into her life is both poignant and rewarding. Her growth, and the way she flourishes through his patience and care, creates a truly heartwarming and memorable romance.

This was so freaking enjoyable. I loved these two. And the title was perfect, but they definitely read each other wrong. He didn't see what was in front of him either. Lol. Poor Sarah was so shy. It was adorable. I loved her. She was sweet and caring and was totally in love with Jasper. And Jasper? Woooo. That man was perfect. He would do absolutely anything for Sarah. He gave her a safe place to be and loved her as she was. Their chemistry was out of this world. I loved getting to see more of Olive. She was hilarious. I loved that she exacerbated Jasper but he loved her completely. It was perfect.

This was such a sweet and heartwarming Instalove story.... But with a happy ever after a few years down the road. Jasper is a Navy SEAL and in love with his sisters best friend Sarah. He saw Sarah for the first time three year prior this story and instantly fell head over heels for her, but he was afraid his work and her distaste for him would make it impossible to get his woman. Boy was he wrong😉 Sarah was just so shy and afraid to speak to Jasper and that's what made him think she doesn't care for him. Sarah lost her entire family and was always alone and now she is too frightened to give love a chance. But Jasper fights for his and Sarah's future and for their HEA 😍
Instalove, age gap, light Daddy/babygirl dynamic, sweet, steamy, romantic and safe with an awesome HEA and no drama😍😍😍😍

I received this book from Instalove and Nichole Rose as an ARC and I am leaving this review of my own free will.

That said, I loved this novella and honestly all the books so far in this series. There's humor, respect, friendship, and HEA. And spice.

Jasper is a Seal, well, he was. He got out because he wants a future with Sarah. He knows she has a hard past but doesn't know what happened. And every time he gets near her, she gets tongue tied. So her best friend aka his sister Olive, sets Sarah up on a blind date. She just didn't know it was supposed to be Jasper. So when a jerk tried to pick her up and she told him no, he didn't leave until Jasper made him. Now he just has to show her she can trust him.

This is another book in the Book of Love series and is about Sarah and Jasper.
Sarah loves Jasper and Jasper loves Sarah but neither has said anything so Jasper’s sister (Olive) takes matters into her own hands. We see Sarah re-live her grief as she tells Jasper what happened when she was a child. There’s a reason Sarah is so shy and quiet and doesn’t really get close to a lot of people. Olive was her first true friend.
Jasper is out of the Seals. He’s home to stay and when his sister comes to him with her crazy plan, he agrees. He’s tired of hiding his feelings from Sarah. She’s the woman for him and he won’t stop until she figures it out.

This is book 3 in Book of Love series. This one was more emotional considering Sarah's tragic losses as a teenager. We learn why Sarah hides in books and has a hard time communicating especially with Jasper her best friend's brother. I absolutely adored Sarah and Jasper. There is some lite daddy themes which I find fitting for this couple. I laughed out loud especially with Jasper 's sister Olive who's book was the second in the series. An emotional ride with endearing moments, traumatic memories, laughter, and of course spice. 5 stars

Oh man do I love how Nichole Rose writes the sweetest romances, and gives us hints of mutual pining for the other in a previous book. Sarah and Jasper are the definition of devotion, and their story was so adorable. Their story was so fun to read and I can’t get enough of the love stories we are getting from all the women that work at this bookstore. It’s actually one of my fav connected series Nichole Rose has done recently and I need more. Inject this kind of happily ever after into my veins because it’s delectable!

This can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the prior books as Nichole is a master at interconnecting characters and storylines. I have been waiting to learn more about quiet anxious Sarah. Just wanted to hug her all the time. Thank heavens for Jasper and his solid supporting love helping her bloom. Their love journey is a masterpiece layered with emotions—sadness, vulnerability, and loss—yet balanced beautifully with humor, tenderness, devotion, and sizzling passion. I received an advanced copy of this book and this is a voluntary review. Loving this series!

Jasper and Sarah

I loved it!! He is the perfect hero to me. Possessive, protective, bossy, and sweet. Just what Sarah needs. It’s a Daddy/baby girl thing, but it isn’t cringy. He helps her heal from her anxiety and fears. And she blossoms by his side. And you get to see some of Olive’s (book 2 mc) craziness here.

I believe both are virgins. It’s SAFE. There is only mention of her childhood where she lost her family in a house fire. The reason for her fears.

I just loved it. 😍

I have been eagerly awaiting Jasper and Sarah’s story. And wow…it surpassed my expectations. There were cute moments, there were scenes that made me cry and most importantly, a heart-wrenching romance that caught my attention.

I loved their initial awkward start that soon morphs into a relationship where Sarah is able to confidently rest in Jasper, knowing that he is there for her always—in every situation.

Jasper & Sarah!!

This was a great quick read! I loved Jasper and Sarah's relationship. It was sad to read what Sarah went through. I really related to her as very anxious person.

I loved the trope where they are in love with each other and don't know! I loved how Jasper and Olive and her friends are all there for it. It's a really sweet read with spice!

I was so excited when Audrey popped up!

I have enjoyed every book in this series. Sara has been in love with Jasper, but she has kept her feelings a secret. However, everything changes when Jasper saves her from an awkward situation involving the man she thought was her date. The two begin to get to know each other; although she has her reservations, he is determined to prove to her that he is the man she needs and that she is the woman of his life. I loved the entire plot and the happy ending.
