Centuries after the events of the #1 New York Times bestseller Wings of Starlight, two fairies must battle a dangerous magic—and their growing feelings for each other—in order to save their home in the Winter Woods of Pixie Hollow.
When frost fairy Periwinkle travels too close to the forbidden border where Spring meets the Winter Woods, she unknowingly discovers a thread of a lost magic. And, for the first time, she begins to dream. While Periwinkle’s dreams start sweet, they slowly morph into more disastrous visions of the Pixie Dust Tree—the life source for all of Pixie Hollow—destroyed. Soon Periwinkle is confronted by a sparrow man who knows two one, that Peri has been dreaming, and two, that the Winter Woods is in terrible danger.
The infuriatingly handsome stranger introduces himself as Weaver, claiming to be a dream-talent, the last of his kind. There's a chance he can spin Periwinkle's dreams into dream thread which could protect the Pixie Dust Tree. But to do so, they will have to embark on a quest to find a magic spindle and scissors in the legendary lost fairy workshops of dream-talents past.
Peri begins a reluctant journey with Weaver through the uncharted heart of the Winter Woods. But dreaming is dangerous, and as Peri’s dreams begin to unravel, she will start to question everything she thought she knew. For in Winter even beautiful things can hurt you… and Weaver is no exception.
Return to Pixie Hollow with this exciting new story set in the world of Wings of Starlight several hundred years in the future.
I believe in woods, mountains, highways, cobblestones, roller coasters, dancing, concerts, cherry Pop Tarts, books, and magic. When I'm not reading or writing on my couch, I'm dragging my husband off on an adventure, snuggling my new baby daughter, communing with Salem (my kitten/spiritual familiar), or causing trouble at One More Page Books, where I work.

every second of this book felt magical. stepping back into the world of pixie hollow once again was so much fun!! this is one of my favorite fictional worlds and i loved exploring more of winter! i fell in love with periwinkle and weaver, their banter together was so witty and fun!! overall, the plot had me completely hooked and, unlike wings of starlight, i had no idea how this book would end!! i’m definitely going to go rewatch secret of the wings again (for the millionth time) with an entirely new perspective! i’m so excited for everyone to read this book and hear everyone’s thoughts :)
and lastly, i would like to thank random house/disney for sending me a beautiful arc package of this book!! i will truly keep the box and the goodies forever, even the confetti packaging 🩵
WAIT HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS WAS COMING OUT?? PERIWINKLE REMAINS MY FAVOURITE FROM THE TINKERBELL SERIES I LOVE HER SM ND ALSO WINGS OF STARLIGHT ABSOLUTELY DEVOURED SO I HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS ONE ASW
Ugh yay! I was so incredibly happy to be back in this world, and will always jump at any chance to return to Pixie Hollow. This was so wonderful and I truly enjoyed every second.
I do want to say that I think the first book was a little bit stronger and I do think I prefer the writing of Allison Saft slightly better. However, this was still beautifully written and very strong overall.
All of the magic from the first book was included here, but I think some of the original elements of Pixie Hollow and how the world works were missing here a little, and as a super-fan, those did kind of bother me.
I also will say that I don't think this is a book for everyone. Nor do I think that any reader picking this up will love this as much as I did, but if you love Tinkerbell and Pixie Hollow, please please please pick this up. It brings back a magic and nostalgia that is hard to find.
My biggest issues with this book were two things: 1) All of the major issues at the end were solved pretty immediately. There were really intense moments that you would think would take a long time to solve and figure out, and within that same page they are overcoming it. So not my favorite, but what can you expect from a story you can pretty much assume will have a happy ending. 2) There are two characters that make a HUGE terrible choice and really betray a lot of people. These two characters are forgiven immediately with no repercussions. Personally I wouldn't have been able to forgive either, especially not immediately, and especially not trust them to then sovle the issue and then continue seeking romance with them.
Those are really my only two big issues. I do think I might be nitpicking a little though and with books like these you just need to enjoy and not look so deeply.
I really loved reading this and I hope they continue to do more, because they bring so much happiness.

oh my god we're getting a book about periwinkle OH MY GODS
some may have been into barbie movies, into monster high—i was raised solely on tinker bell movies and i owe it to my ten year old self to read every movie that even slightly relates to secret of the wings
4.25 stars: Thanks to NetGalley for the E-ARC. This book was a wild ride for me. So, in the beginning, I had some issues with the love interest, but I was also in a reading slump and that might have been contributing to that. I just felt the love interest was a little unlikeable in the first part of the story (just the like first 10-15%). However, for a majority of the book, I really loved and was swooning over the love story. It was so good! I loved the plot that all the characters had to accomplish too. The yearning was top notch as well. Now, I really did enjoy this story I swear, but I did have a major issue with it as well. *SPOILERS* The third act "break up" was awful. Honestly, it really turned me off. You're telling me that the Weaver was basically responsible for torturing other faeries, and Periwinkle just forgave him. Mind you she forgave him, even before she knew he was trying to fix what he'd done. It was kind of unredeemable to me. Like, he genuinely hurt other faeries, and like no one held a grudge about that? I find that hard to believe. I know I know this is a Pixie Hollow story, and it's all rainbows and sunshine overall. But like it just made me not like Weaver by the end of the book. I couldn't get on page with his character again after that. And for him to be the love interest... *END SPOILERS* As I said though, this was a really good and fun story, and I am glad Anna Bright wrote it, as I felt her prose was perfect for this type of story, that Pixie Hollow deserved! I just had that one issue with it.

A sweet, heart-stirring, magical and delightfully adventurous YA romance set in the world of Pixie Hollow -- a world I myself had never seen or read about until I opened the pages of this book, but Anna Bright's lovely prose and vivid imagination brings it vividly to life for even readers unfamiliar with the franchise (or the first book in the series, which I also have yet to read). I thoroughly enjoyed this story!
I work at the Indie Bookstore, Joseph-Beth Booksellers, who received an advanced copy of this novel. I was very vocal about my enjoyment of the first novel and my history of loving the Tinkerbell movies, so a coworker knew to reserve this advanced copy for me. I am beyond thrilled that she did!
Secret of the Wings was my favorite Tinkerbell movie, not just for Queen Clarion and Lord Milori's love story, but for the wealth of fairy lore hidden just over the border of the Winter Woods. Anna Bright did a wonderful job of expanding on this lore through the talents held by the winter fairies and the traditions that hold them apart from the rest of Pixie Hollow. My favorite added detail, beyond the mechanics of the Dream Talent, was the Book Flood tradition held on the second night of the Frost Festival. For a number of years I have known about and been jealous of the Icelandic tradition of gifting books to loved ones and reading together on Christmas Eve. I assume Bright took inspiration from the Icelanders in her effort to make the Frost Festival an occasion filled with enough wonder and whimsy for the background of this novel. It was also a great way to show the difference in social standings between Periwinkel and Weaver: Periwinkle having received a mountain of books and Weaver only receiving one.
The dialogue between Periwinkle and Weaver felt organic and feisty—just how I like my romances! They played off one another well, and the tension between the two was thick enough to skate across! It felt very believable to me that these two could fall in love over the course of the week-long Frost Festival.
The characterization Bright expanded upon for Periwinkle felt authentic within the franchise and with the movie version of her character while really cementing her as a unique fairy worth exploring. In the movie Periwinkle came off as more hesitant and quiet than her twin. But Bright made it seem that Periwinkle is often more bold and curious, so perhaps her hesitation in the movie (that allowed Tinkerbell to remain the most important character overall) was the result of her being out of her element (pun intended). Speaking of Tink, it brought me much joy to pick out the subtle references to her in the beginning and end of the novel!
was extremely terrified when i heard there was a wings of starlight sequel considering the physical pain and emotional torture that book put me through but to be following peri is such an interesting turn! reallt excited for this and PRAYING. genuinely on my hands and knees PLEASE. give my girl a happy ending with love 🙏🙏 can’t wait to be back with the magic!!
My rating: ★★★★☆ (4 stars) returning to Pixie Hollow 🤝 familiar faces 🤝 "i wasn't ready to leave this world just yet" okay but... after reading Wings of Starlight(which yeah i know totally forgot to publish that review :']) i would've come back to Pixie Hollow no matter what. that first book completely swept me away with its magic atmosphere and emotional romance so i was SO excited when i got approved for this ARC on NetGalley. . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁. what i loved was RETURNING TO THIS WORLD. there's something so comforting about stepping back into Pixie Hollow, the magic the atmosphere and that feeling of wonder are still there and the writing continues to make this world feel incredibly vivid. it reminded me why i fell in love with this series in the first place, the descriptions are beautiful without feeling overdone and the setting almost feels like a character of its own. which speaking of, i also loved getting to spend more time with characters i already cared about. one of my favorite things about sequels is seeing how previous events continue to shape the characters instead of simply starting over. also the emotional continuity really worked for me and i appreciated that the story trusted readers to remember what came before. the romance still has that soft, yearning quality that i loved in the first book, it's emotional rather than flashy and i always enjoy romances that take the time to let the feelings develop naturally. . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁. BUT... i don't think this quite reached the same level as Wings of Starlight for me and maybe that's because my expectations were so high after loving the first book. the pacing slows down quite a bit in the middle and there were moments where i wished the story moved forward a little faster. i also found myself wanting just a bit more from some of the emotional moments. they were beautiful, but a few scenes didn't hit me quite as hard as i expected them to. this is definitely a character-focused sequel, so if you're expecting constant action or huge plot twists, that's probably not what you'll find here. . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁. overall this felt like returning to a place i'd genuinely missed. did it completely recapture the magic i felt while reading Wings of Starlight? not quite. but it reminded me why i fell in love with this world in the first place and i'm always happy to spend more time in Pixie Hollow and sometimes that's enough. so if you loved Wings of Starlight, enjoy whimsical fantasy, emotional character journeys and beautifully written fairy stories... i think you'll really enjoy returning to this world. My final thoughts; i came back because Wings of Starlight made me fall in love with Pixie Hollow... i stayed because apparently one trip to Pixie Hollow was never going to be enough. 🧚✨🍃
First, I would like to extend a huge thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this ARC. I was absolutely thrilled to receive it, as this was easily one of my most highly anticipated reads of the year! After reading Wings of Starlight, I couldn't wait to dive back into this world. Returning to Pixie Hollow through Periwinkle’s perspective was pure magic. I have always wanted to explore the Winter Woods side of this universe more deeply, and this book delivered exactly that. The author did a wonderful job expanding the lore, even introducing a wider variety of fairy talents than what we originally saw in the movies. Building upon the existing foundation made the entire setting feel incredibly rich, magical, and nostalgic.
There was so much to love about this story, starting with the engaging plot that introduces a brand-new talent type. Watching Periwinkle step up and use her problem-solving skills to tackle the central conflict was highly entertaining. Her relationship with Weaver was another major highlight. Their banter felt entirely natural, and the romance was beautifully paced that allowed them to truly get to know each other, which is a rarity in books nowadays. For fans of the Tinker Bell movies, the book is full of delightful easter eggs, especially the subtle nods to Periwinkle's connection to Spring. Ultimately, the entire book felt like a cozy, warm blanket. It was wonderful to see beloved characters back in their element and to get a prequel story about Periwinkle before she met her sister. She was written as such a smart, capable, and strong-willed protagonist.
However, a few elements kept it from being a perfect read. Initially, I was hesitant about the story being a prequel to Secret of the Wings. While it ultimately made sense for her independent character development, it breaks my heart a little to know we will never get to see Periwinkle and Weaver together on screen. I also struggled a bit with Periwinkle's characterization at the very beginning of the book. She felt a bit too dependent on others, and it was hard to believe she would be so caught up in romance or let people make decisions for her. Thankfully, she improved significantly as the story progressed. Additionally, I saw the main plot twist coming from a mile away, though it thankfully didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the plot. My only other complaint is that we simply needed more of Legs, who is absolutely the cutest spider ever!
Overall, Wings of Reverie is a charming, nostalgic return to a beloved world that fans of the franchise will adore. While the predictable twist and the slightly frustrating start held it back slightly, the cozy vibes, expanded lore, and sweet romance made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It successfully honors the spirit of Pixie Hollow while giving Periwinkle the standalone spotlight she truly deserves.
✧˖°. ⤷ Thank you to netgalley, Anna Bright for the ARC. Honest thoughts as always, from me to you ♡
☁️ author: Anna Bright ☁️ genre: YA fantasy / Disney fairies ☁️ mood: whimsical / dreamlike / adventurous / wonder-filled
🌙 Mini Synopsis: Centuries after the events of Wings of Starlight, frost fairy Periwinkle stumbles upon a forbidden thread of lost magic near the border of the Winter Woods — and begins to dream for the first time. When those dreams turn into visions of the Pixie Dust Tree's destruction, Peri is pulled into a dangerous quest alongside Weaver, the last dream-talent fairy, to find the magic needed to save Pixie Hollow. But dreaming is dangerous, and the more Peri unravels, the more she questions everything she thought she knew.
🍃 thoughts So happy to be back in Pixie Hollow with this one. This is my second book in the series after loving Wings of Starlight last year, and Anna Bright continues to knock it out of the park. The magic system is so imaginative, the adventure kept me hooked from start to finish, and the romance between Peri and Weaver developed in a way that felt earned rather than rushed. The world is filled with wonder, mystery and genuinely high stakes, and the plot twists kept me guessing throughout.
What really stands out to me about this series is how well it's written for its intended audience. These books are perfect for younger YA readers, around 12 to 16, with such wonderful themes of friendship, overcoming conflict and finding confidence in yourself and your abilities woven throughout. There have been countless Disney and Disney-adjacent YA series over the years, and this one is quickly becoming one of my favorites thanks to excellent writing, well-developed characters, and a story that never feels like it's talking down to its readers.
🌸 favorite things ♡ The magic system — imaginative, dreamlike and genuinely unique to this world ♡ Peri and Weaver's slow-building dynamic — romance that felt earned rather than rushed ♡ The themes of friendship and self-confidence woven throughout — perfect for younger readers to grow alongside
I have to give this book credit--I did not see that plot twist coming!
How am I supposed to rate this story? The first 75% feels like a standard young adult romantasy. There's a dark-haired love interest with the personality of a thirsty cactus and a pretty, popular & perfect (his words, not mine) female main character. It seems like a cut-and-paste grumpy x sunshine romance. Fun to read, but nothing groundbreaking.
Then there's the last 25%... I was in for a surprise!
This story is set hundreds of years after Wings of Starlight (the first standalone in this series) and follows two winter fairies. Weaver and Periwinkle spend most of the book searching for magical items that can spin Peri's dreams into thread. Without the thread's protection, the Pixie Dust Tree might not survive an incoming storm. I like that Weaver and Peri's adventures bring them to new places. It was great to explore the winter realm! I also like the side characters and the glimpses we get into their magic. I had no idea there were so many winter-related talents.
But the true surprise comes with the plot twist around the 75% mark. I never saw it coming. I love the tension & challenges it brings to the story. I reread a page three times—that's how good it was!
That said... I thought the way it was resolved seemed rushed for the sake of the book's ending. I remember thinking, "There's no coming back from this", only for a character to start preaching the importance of forgiveness and resolve the issues over the span of a few pages. Personally, I didn't like the direction it took. I would have been happier with a bittersweet or open ending like we received in the first book.
Overall, I'm rating this book 3 stars. I loved returning to Pixie Hollow, and it was fun to meet new characters. I think Wings of Reverie a great option for readers who enjoy the cozy fantasy genre!
I received a copy of Wings of Reverie as a #GetUnderlinedPartner from Penguin Random House. All opinions are my own.
