The Billionaire's Rival

Rate this book
Of all the offices in all the world, my college rival had to walk into mine… with that smug face.

Caleb Wilder.
Billionaire. Marketing genius. World-class pain in my ass.

We’ve been enemies since college—battling over grades, internships, and basically anything else we could turn into a competition. So of course, when he shows up in my office under an alias, I’m the only one who recognizes him. Everyone else sees just another hotshot hired for a big project. Me? I see the same arrogant jerk who’s been trying to outdo me for years… and now he’s in my department, pretending he belongs.

We’re forced to work side by side, trading barbs and office pranks like it’s a competitive sport. He pushes my buttons. I push his right back. And the worst part? Somewhere between all the fighting, the tension started to feel… electric.

So when one too many drinks leads to one very naked night? We make a deal.

No strings. No feelings. Just enemies with benefits.

But then my petty, jealous ex starts sniffing around again, and suddenly Caleb is sliding closer. Putting his arm around me. Calling himself my boyfriend with that infuriating smirk, like this was his idea all along.

So now I’m stuck pretending to date the man I can’t stand… while trying to remember why I ever agreed to let him in my bed.

And if I’m not careful? He just might win a game I never meant to play.

Okay, this is my second time reading this author and I am beyond obsessed with her writing and her stories. Honestly, I’d read her grocery list at this point.

The story goes something like this: Eve works in a marketing department handling campaigns for big companies. When their latest campaign gets copied by a rival business, they realize there’s a mole inside the company. Enter Caleb—the CEO’s brother—who’s in charge of finding out who’s leaking confidential information. Eve and Caleb were college classmates and sworn enemies, but now they have to work together to uncover the snitch.

The Billionaire’s Rival is the ultimate enemies to lovers where the main couple doesn’t just dislike each other. They make it very clear through words and actions. Is it the way she tells him to go to hell every other page? Or maybe the fact that she puts salt in his hot chocolate? Or the fact that he wrapped he’s entire office desk in gift wrap and glitter? I don’t know you guys pick and choose.

The sexual tension is EVERYWHERE and you never get bored with their interactions. The 🌶️🌶️ is once again a solid 10/10. I mean, it’s enemies with benefits—you know how that goes 🫠🫠🫠🫠 (angry territorial sex is my favorite kind of sex).

All her stories feel so realistic , you can genuinely feel them as if they’re your own, and that hits differently for me. I become one with the heroine, like I’m living it myself 🥹

I loved it so, so, so much, and I can’t wait for the next book (yes, we are definitely going to learn everything about the Wilder brothers 🫠🫠🫠).

I wholeheartedly recommend it.
It’s a solid 5/5 from me, and it’s finally available starting today.

A huge thank you to the author @authorkjraffat for giving me the ARC.
I adored it once again 🥹

The Billionaire’s Rival was a genuinely enjoyable read, and I want to start by saying that I will not share any spoilers here. I also do not want to simply summarize the plot, because what really stood out to me were the emotions, the atmosphere, and the way the characters made me feel.

The rivals-to-lovers tension is addictive. I found myself smiling at the banter, feeling the heat in their arguments, and getting swept up in those quiet moments when something soft slips through the cracks. The heroine is easy to root for, and the billionaire hero has the kind of controlled intensity that makes every interaction spark. Their chemistry feels natural, slow-building, and very rewarding to follow.

I also appreciated the glamorous setting and the way the author used each environment to heighten the emotional stakes. Corporate spaces feel sharp and competitive, while the more intimate scenes feel warm and vulnerable. I stayed engaged from beginning to end.

For constructive criticism, I would have loved a bit more emotional depth in a few key moments. Certain scenes could have lingered longer or dug deeper into what the characters were feeling. If the author had expanded those emotional beats just a touch more, this easily could have been a full 5 stars for me.

Overall, this book is stylish, romantic, and full of tension. It made me feel invested in the characters and their connection. Highly recommended for anyone who loves modern billionaire romances. And as always on Goodreads, let’s keep things civil and enjoy sharing what we love about reading.

Eve works hard to maintain her life. Having studied hard throughout college, worked 3 three jobs just to fund her studies. She knows too well the only person to count on is herself. Having broke up with her ex, her work is the main priority. Until the new guy comes into the office Caleb Reynolds. Why is he using a false name. He's name is Caleb Wilder her bosses brother. He's the guy she worked so hard to compete with in college. Yet he always beat her. Caleb prefers working on his own. He doesn't like having to work as a employee. Yet it's his brother, and there's someone leaking secrets. He never expected Eve to work there. They never got on in college, this is going to be a nightmare. Especially as nobody is supposed to know he's undercover. This is the second book in this series and it certainly doesn't disappoint. I laughed, gasped, and got a little hot in places. The story continues on from. the previous book. Although I suppose could be read as a standalone. This is a story about family, colleagues, and self preservation. It also shows how sometimes you find something you didnt know you was looking for. I really hope we get a story for Nick, it feels like he has a complicated story. I can not recommend this book enough. Make sure to add it you tbr list

Eve works at the marketing department of a company that sells yachts. Someone leaked their campaign and in order to find out who did this, management hired a spy, but it turns out it's her old enemy of her study Ethan. She absolutely hates him but finds him attractive as well. Turns out they have to keep him being a spy a secret.

Double POV: you find out very soon that Ethan thinks Eve's very hot and soon she's the only thing he can think of...

I loved the banter between Eve and Ethan, lines as "fuck with me again and I'll make hell seem like a spa day" had me laugh out loud 😂.

Will these frenemies become lovers? Or will they stay enemies forever? Find out in this awesome book by

I also loved the family dynamics in this book, especially Ethan and his brothers doing anything to protect their sister Megan.

This is book 2 of the Wilder Brothers series but can be read as a standalone. I had mixed reviews of the first book in the series, but this one blew it out of the water. This is only the second book from this author I’ve read, but they have a way of writing strong female characters who can handle themselves and also rely on the man for support and love. The enemies-to-lovers forced proximity storyline hit all my romance read needs and it has gotten me excited for the next story in the series.

This is a fantastic continuation of the Wilder series! It may be even better. Caleb is a prankster (and a pain in the behind) and Eve is a volcano waiting to explode--epic chemistry! There's also a mystery; it began in Natalie and Ethan's book, but the search for the corporate mole continues here. (This book can absolutely be read as standalone, but having the backstory on the eldest Wilder and Natalie is nice having in mind while reading.) Highly recommend.

The Billionaire’s Rival is the ultimate mix of competitors to lovers and fake dating. It pulled me in on the first page and didn’t let go. I laughed, I cried and I blushed…a lot.🤣

The tension and the banter between Caleb and Eve was at the beginning of the book was unmatched. They are the true definition of rivals and I.Ate.It.Up!
I mean, the prank wars scenes?? Absolute perfection!! I’m not sure I have ever laughed so hard while reading, I mean these scenes brought out the pig snorting, belly laughs I couldn’t hold back!

Caleb was amazing, his character was wrote perfectly.
He’s protective, instigative, caring, ornery and HOT 🥵 all wrapped up in one blond muscly package of an MMC.
The way he gets under Eve’s skin was really entertaining and by the time they started the “fake dating” portion of the book I was wishing I was Eve. 🤣

Eve is an also a great character, just a little harder for me to relate to. She is very independent which I love but there are a few times where her independence and stubbornness could have caused her harm. In a couple scenes I just wanted to shout at her to just say
Thank You!! 🤣
But the more I read and found out about her past and her family the more I started to understand her.
She’s tough on the outside but once Caleb was able to crack her shell she became one of my favorites.

Together they truly are a perfect couple.
(and those spice scenes!🥵)

The plot is incredible, it has tension, mystery and even some action parts. You won’t be bored for even a second.

And that bonus epilogue!!!😍😍
I won’t spoil anything but ugh it was such perfection!!

If you read book 1 of the Wilder Brother’s series you’ll be happy to know Ethan and Natalie are very much included in this story. As well as the rest of the Wilder clan!
I loved the sneak peaks of the Wilder siblings and where their stories might be heading! 👀 🥰 (If you haven’t I highly suggest reading The Billionaire’s Redemption!)

I will definitely be reading every book in this series!😍

Eve has worked hard to get where she is today at Thalvyn Maritime's Branding and Strategy Division, and she's not going to let her mother's demands that she become a stay at home wife keep her from her job. But multiple leaks from her department has everyone on edge, and when her old college rival shows up with a fake name, she knows he's a corporate spy. She may have to play along and work with Caleb, but she's not going to make it easy for him. Can they find the mole before it's two late?

Eve is feisty, driven, and knows exactly what she's worth. Even if her own family doesn't understand her or support her, she's going to keep on going to get what she wants. Her tenacity and prickly exterior make her an exciting main character that you can't help but root for. Caleb is gifted and skilled, but he thinks Eve is stuck up. He wants to take her down a peg, but as the two engage in one upping each other in pranks, he realizes he wants more from her. He wants her to succeed and be safe. And when he sees her struggling against her ex-boyfriend who is starting to show stalking and violent behavior, he can't let her fight alone. The two have excellent chemistry and emotional depth that draws you in.

This story has plenty of rom-com tropes, but all are done in a creative fashion that is refreshing and enjoyable. My favorite aspect of the book is that Eve's relationship with her family gets addressed pretty significantly. Too often in romances, family strive and dynamics are used to isolate the main character, and seem to stress that as long as you have a significant other, you don't need a family. I greatly appreciated that overall, both Eve's family and Caleb's family are presented in a believable fashion with hope of reconciliation amongst the characters.

A fun office romance between bitter rivals with realistic characters and surprising depth.

Eve has done everything she can to achieve her Success, she’s the best at what she does. Letting people believe she stuck up and arrogant is a must to her success. Caleb is the easy going brother the one who’s seen as the mellow one never taking relationships seriously, always joking around. He lets people believe what they want of him. These two are far from what they let people see. They bring out the worst and the best form each other. When they reunite it’s something Eve and Caleb never expected. They both have horrible impressions of each other but working together as adults, they have grown to be successfully and professional so they’ll annoy each other to death before one gives in. Along the way they become each other’s safe space, with danger lurking emotions are heighten but no more than what they were before.

Caleb is such a menace, but Eve doesn’t stay behind. These two kept me at my toes- felt like I was the one being annoyed. Rivals/“enemies” to lovers is always great to read these two aren’t the I want to kill him/her but the thought does linger while they annoy each other but they did have a dislike for the other. You see that judging someone by first impression- ( or many first ) isn’t always the greatest sometimes you can seem a certain way but be the complete opposite. And that’s why I loved these two they didn’t know who they truly were - they assumed and they slowly started to she the new and improved ( with a dash of their younger self’s) and slowly they fell. And a shout out to Caleb’s little sister such a vibe 🤍

(Repost- I wrote this while I was on no sleep and it was all over the place 🥹) hope it makes better sense now anyways get read for this one it’s amazing and such a fast read you do not want to pass it up

The Billionaires Rival KJ Raffat ARC Review

This was a 5 star read for me but my favourite trope that was written in this story was the enemies to lovers because it was written so well that I didn’t think I could love this read anymore than I could but it proved to me exists if you look hard enough.

Eve, is my favourite character because indestructible and impenetrable but I liked that Caleb brought that out in her and was cocky and confident in all of the right places and she was head strong I really liked how Caleb managed to break through her walls.

Caleb, for me was good at picking fights with Eve and being there for when she talked about her passions and I loved that he broke her out her shell and created a whole new meaning the word love. Also, it really was cute how they both fought over projects but couldn’t stop denying their feelings.

Their relationship was first built on hate, and rivalry but once they both spent time together and built a relationship that they knew was hoping it wasn’t going to last ended it turning into something more special that they both had for each other.

I would like to say I can’t wait to read more from KJ Raffat and the other brothers books in the series but I couldn’t stop loving each couple’s stories in this series so far and I can’t wait to read more from her.

Thank you to the author for the ARC copy. 😍

The story: Eve works in marketing, doing big important campaigns. Suddenly their latest project gets copied by a rival company, because apparently originality is dead, and 𝑏𝑜𝑜𝑚: there’s a mole. Here it is Caleb, the CEO’s brother/Professional Hot Man, whose job is to figure out who’s leaking stuff. Eve and Caleb were college classmates, huge rivals and sworn enemies. Now they have to work together without committing homicide. 𝐶𝑢𝑡𝑒. 🫣

My opinion: 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐵𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑖𝑟𝑒’𝑠 𝑅𝑖𝑣𝑎𝑙 is peak enemies to lovers. I’m talking “I hope you trip” energy. They don’t just dislike each other, they practically send hate mail through vibes alone. Maybe it’s the way she tells him to go to hell every five minutes. Or maybe it’s when he wraps his entire office desk in gift wrap and glitter like a festive psychopath. 𝑊𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑒𝑥𝑝𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑑𝑖𝑓𝑓𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑙𝑦, 𝑜𝑘𝑎𝑦? 👀

The sexual tension??? 🥵 Everywhere. On every page. In the air. In my room. I was sweating and I wasn’t even involved. It’s enemies with benefits, which is basically “I hate you, but also take your clothes off.” 𝑂𝑢𝑟 𝑓𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑒 𝑔𝑒𝑛𝑟𝑒. 🤭

Reading the book, I felt suddenly like the main character, living her life, making questionable decisions, falling for emotionally unavailable men, the usual.

𝑆𝑜 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙, 𝑠𝑜 𝑟𝑎𝑟𝑒, 𝑠𝑜 𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑎𝑙, 𝑠𝑜 𝑏𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑢𝑙. 💖

Highly – no, aggressively – recommended.
Go. Read. 𝑁𝑂𝑊.

Wow! 😮 5/5 ⭐️
I absolutely adored this and devoured this book in a week! Extremely captivating!

Badass FMC! An MMC that won’t quit! Stubborn attitudes all round! But ones that perfectly matched each other-especially through pranks!
It has action-not just the saucy kind 😏😏

But I have especially grown to love Caleb throughout the story and how he develops. I love how he comes across as highly misunderstood by Eve and they both are forced to overcome their issues with each other, which then turns into a fiery feud of love.

The plot twists and events are unexpected, resulting in them both protecting each other in different ways. I love how throughout the entire story Caleb is always right there to help her, even when she insists she doesn’t need it.

Her mother’s attitude towards her did make me cry, it hit home with me a little too closely, but her mother actually realises her mistakes and tries to make it up to her.

My curiosities did lead to, “what is happening with Natalie?” And “has she had the baby?” I would’ve liked a wrap up about that. Also “what is happening with Nick?” But I guess that could also be a set up for another story.

Trigger warnings:
Violence
Domestic abuse (slightly physical and emotional)

ARC Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌶️🌶️

This was an exciting read! I loved that it had a little bit of everything:

*Office Romance
*Enemies to Lovers
*Competive Rivals to Lovers
*Fake Dating
*Witty Banter
*Family Drama
*Second Chances
*Mystery/Whodunit
*Secret Identity
*Espionage

This book really kept me on my toes, there was a lot of moving parts, and characters. The character development was on point, and even though I found the FMC really unlikable and unrelatale for more than the first half of the book I came to appreciate her story, the love that grows between her and the MMC.

This book is not only a love story, but it’s a workplace “whodunit” with quite a bit of action and a twist that I, an experienced thriller reader, I did not guess.

This book is the second book in the Wilder Boys series, being honest, I did not read the first book YET and I was able to follow along. It’s an interconnected standalone series. I, for one, will be going back to read book 1 as well as looking forward to the next book in the series.

Thank you to KJ Raffat for choosing me to be apart of your ARC team! This ARC read was unpaid and the views are solely my own. Happy Reading!

The billionaire’s Rival ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
By KJ Raffat

I received an advanced review copy from BookSiren. The Billionaire’s Rival by K.J. Raffet is a captivating enemies-to-lovers romance that delivers tension, heat, and plenty of emotional payoff. From the very first chapter, the chemistry between the two leads crackles. I loved the sharp banter, the competitive energy, and the gradual softening from both MCs that feels earned.

Raffet does a great job developing both characters beyond the usual billionaire-romance trope. The characters motivations make sense and watching them navigate ambition, vulnerability, and desire is genuinely engaging. The pacing is steady, with the last third especially hard to put down.

If anything, a few scenes felt slightly rushed, and I would’ve loved even more depth into the Office Mole (though the conclusion to that storyline was fantastic!). But overall, the book strikes a satisfying balance of drama, romance, and character growth.

Perfect for anyone who loves strong chemistry, well-written tension, and a romance that feels both steamy and emotionally rich.

Caleb wilder: the chaotic middle sibling.
He thinks that eve needs to loosen up a bit and is determind to help her do so by being a constant pain in the ass.
Also dont forget to find the mole in the company..

Eve Lopez: ambitious and hardworking. Has to talk herself out of murdering caleb every morning because she doesn’t want to go to jail.

You’re a vindictive little thing, aren’t you? - caleb

Fix Yourself and get back to work, sweetheart. -caleb

Loved this book! Office romance with rivalry since college.
Its not exactly enemies to lovers but there is a strong dislike between them. They love to push eachother buttons.
It really shows that you shouldn’t judge someone without getting to know them.
During the book they show eachother there is more behind the person that they knew.

I love how much depth was written about the family of both caleb and eve.
I really felt the love calebs family has for eachother and the way they were always there for eachother.
Also the way eve’s family changed during the book and in the end learned from there mistakes.

I absolutely loved every moment I spent immersed in this book. The way KJ Raffat captured Eve's frustrations and internal struggles truly resonated with me. I found myself experiencing a whirlwind of emotions—my gut was in knots as I felt her pain, tears streamed down my cheeks during the poignant moments, and I even found myself laughing out loud at the lighter scenes. When I first picked up Billionaire's Rival, I wasn't sure of its length, and I often worry that longer books can meander with unnecessary details that might dilute the plot. However, that was far from the case here; Raffat's storytelling is so engaging that it felt like I was watching a movie unfold before my eyes. With every turn of the page, I was drawn deeper into Eve's journey. Now, I can't wait to dive into the stories of the other Wilder brothers! I'm eager to see how their distinct personalities and challenges will add to the richness of this captivating world.

No Spoilers…I keep them short and sweet!

The story of Eve and Caleb is a nice mix of story and spice. It’s a great story of an enemies to lovers/rivals to lovers within a corporate setting. The amount of character development both go through and the growth we see makes this story feel like we are really there watching it in real time.

The characters are very complex and we get to see differences between the two when it comes to their personalities and backgrounds. As readers we are provided with a lot of background info which gives great context to their motives and the emotional states both Eve and Caleb have.

🌶🌶🌶

Eve and Caleb have such an amazing connection, even as enemies, it’s endearing. I enjoyed learning where they came from and what shaped them into who they are, and I would have loved to know more about Caleb’s reason for being so detached in relationships. This being said, a lot happened in this book, it’s so much more than just a romance. I felt the emotions, the cold, the anger, the suspense... I can’t wait to read about Nick and see what happens with him. Although I found some intimate scenes and sentences repetitive, I appreciated the themes of second chances and new beginnings. Now, onto the first book of the series, The Billionaire’s Redemption, I need to know the story of each Wilder brother!

Enemies to lovers is always a fun trope to read. Eve is highly skilled in the marketing department and all of a sudden her college arch nemesis waltzes in as Caleb ‘Reynolds’ but she knows who he really is - a Wilder. Caleb is hired by his brother CEO to determine the leak.
The banter between Eve and Caleb is cruel but the chemistry is there and they can feel it. I think the ongoing enemy vibe was really starting to annoy me. Too many pranks. I mean there’s only so many ways and times to say ‘I hate you’!

I do love the way KJ Raffat writes her stories though. There’s more to the story than a simple leak in the company and I love it.
Families will always have tough times but I love the way Eve stands up for herself each and every time.

A fun office romance in the end! 😉

Loved - A must read!
The banter alone between Eve and Caleb got me hooked on this book. Then you see the true sides of the MC’s and how they’ve always protected themselves from the outside world but find an ability to learn to trust each other. In the hunt to find the mole, you’re taken on a few twists but what really got me, is the relationship between Eve and her mother and siblings. KJ Raffat does a great job at explaining how expectations are so different between males and females in a traditional Hispanic household. Eve is a boss and a fighter and you’ll fall in love with her strength and you’ll love Caleb’s ability to step in and protect!

This was not just a nice book, it was also really fun to read. I found myself laughing out loud more than once because some scenes and banters were truly hilarious. Likewise, more than once I felt a bit an intruder: the author managed to convey a chemistry and tension between the two protagonists like few other times I have experienced. The battle of pranks could have been a childish ploy, but it was handled so well that it gave me butterflies and made me laugh like crazy. In the end, seeing the very person who claimed not to want a relationship give in tastes very satisfying, doesn't it, Caleb?

I had the pleasure of reading The Billionaire's Redemption and The Billionaire's Rival! Natalie and Ethan's story is great, but Caleb and Eve's is everything! I love a good series and this one has me hooked. I wasn’t even prepared for the Wilder family, but I’m in awe of their sibling bond and their witty banter! This series has conflict, 🌶️🌶️🌶️, mystery, and romance. I laughed, I got angry, and I was on edge wondering who the mole was! I’m hoping Jake's story is next!

Thank you so much, KJ Raffat for this arc!!

I really love a book with banter and Caleb’s and Eve’s banter knocked it out of the park. Their rivalry and office pranks had me laughing out loud whilst reading 🤭.

To see how their relationship went from enemies to frenemies to lovers was sooo good. The continuous suspense and heated arguments had me hooked from the very start of the book.

Caleb really has a golden retriever personality, however Caleb certainly is not all bark and no bite when it comes to protecting Eve.

Needless to say, I loved this! Instant five stars ⭐️.

This book had everything you could possibly want, rivals, love, corporate espionage, twists and turns, spice and a HEA! 😍
I love that both characters are wholly independent and don't naturally have to rely on anyone else. Their progression throughout the book flows well and made me laugh all the time with their pranks!
Highly recommend reading 💕

I was so lucky to receive an arc copy of this book. I haven’t read many academic rival stories but this one takes the cake. It was so good from beginning to end several tropes were put into one book. I was so entertained in every chapter. Eve is so inspiring, her drive makes you wanna work just as hard as her. Caleb is more than just a rich guy he values so much in life. I adored their story so much. I didn’t believe it was 500+ pages they flew by!
