Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Rudolf Eucken won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1908 "in recognition of his earnest search for truth, his penetrating power of thought, his wide range of vision, and the warmth and strength in presentation with which in his numerous works he has vindicated and developed an idealistic philosophy of life."

Eucken's Collected Essays are #64/121 on my Nobel reading challenge. I can see the "range of vision" and the "idealistic philosophy" in his writing, but the topics and scope felt very dated; there wasn't anything that felt relevant or meaningful to my life.
