Book Review: Gratitude Wisdom from the Sai Avtar by Hema Meiers-Sood
Gratitude Wisdom from the Sai Avtar does not speak to the hurried reader. It speaks to the one who pauses, breathes, and listens inwardly. This book feels less like something you hold in your hands and more like something that gently holds you—especially in moments of doubt, fear, or spiritual fatigue.
Through channeled messages attributed to the triple Sai Avtar—Shirdi Sai Baba, Satya Sai Baba, and Prema Sai Baba—the text repeatedly returns to one quiet truth: clarity is not found by rushing forward, but by becoming still enough to hear your own higher self. The passages emphasize how even a single negative thought can disturb one’s energetic balance, reminding the reader that success—whether material, emotional, or spiritual—is born from sustained focus, patience, and inner alignment rather than urgency.
What stands out deeply is the book’s compassionate understanding of human struggle. It does not deny suffering, failure, or fear; instead, it reframes them as tests, much like examinations that prepare a child to move to a higher class. Challenges are portrayed as karmic catalysts—necessary experiences chosen by the soul to evolve courageously on Earth. This perspective does not feel preachy or intimidating; rather, it feels reassuring, as though someone is quietly telling you, “You are not being punished—you are being prepared.”
The voice of the text is tender yet firm. It asks the reader not to seek easy escapes, but limitless growth; not to fear mistakes, but to trust the purification that comes through meditation, silence, and conscious breathing. The repeated emphasis on karma being burned through meditation, and fear dissolving through inner stillness, makes the book especially resonant for those on a healing or recovery journey—emotional, spiritual, or existential.
Another beautiful aspect of the book is its practicality. Alongside spiritual guidance, it offers chants, mantras, reflection prompts, journaling intentions, breathing awareness, and meditative practices. These are not presented as rigid rituals, but as gentle invitations—tools to ground the reader while receiving higher wisdom. The inclusion of a glossary at the end further reflects the author’s care in making the spiritual language accessible, even when concepts are symbolic or unfamiliar.
At its heart, this book speaks of trust—trust in divine timing, trust in the unseen connection between the seeker and the Divine, trust that whatever unfolds in life ultimately serves growth. The imagery of each conscious breath being like a glowing candle in a dark night is especially powerful, capturing the essence of the book itself: a quiet light offered to those navigating uncertainty.
Gratitude Wisdom from the Sai Avtar is not meant to convince or analyze. It is meant to comfort, remind, and awaken. Readers looking for academic discourse or historical depth may find it limited, but those seeking reassurance, inner grounding, and a devotional companion will find solace in its pages.
This is a book to return to—not for answers, but for alignment; not for information, but for transformation. It asks only for sincerity and purity of heart, and in return, it gently nudges the reader toward light, gratitude, and conscious living.
A soulful, faith-centered guide best read slowly—one breath, one reflection, one intention at a time.

Gratitude : Wisdom from the Sai Avatars is all about —what it truly is and how it quietly shapes our lives. It explains the state in a way that is not merely an expression, but a way of living that helps us connect with the divine. In time it beautifully describes how the Sai Avatar becomes present in our heart when we sincerely seek inner peace through pure meditation and genuine faith.

The blessings of Sai, as shared in the book, flow naturally from compassion, selfless service, and unconditional love. Also the teachings, gently reminds us of the true essence of humanity—to live with kindness, humility, and awareness.

One of the most meaningful aspects of this that it does not impose rituals or rigid religious practices. Instead, the author encourages readers to understand and experience divinity from within, allowing spirituality to grow in a natural and personal way rather than through forced actions.

Each chapter concludes with a simple yet meaningful reflection, helping readers understand the lesson and apply its wisdom in everyday life. These reflections make the book practical and relatable, turning spiritual ideas into lived experiences.

In its quiet way the book is calm and insightful guide to gratitude and trust. Reading it feels reassuring and comforting, offering gentle clarity and helping to answer many of the quiet questions we carry in our daily lives.
It is a book best read slowly, with openness of heart—one that does not instruct, but gently guides, leaving the reader more aware, more grounded, and quietly transformed.

The book Gratitude, Wisdom from the Sai Avatars is not like books. It is like a friend who helps you with your spirit. You should read it slowly. Think about what it says. Do not try to read it. The book wants you to stop and think about the things it is saying. It wants you to really understand what it means. The book gets its wisdom from the Sai Avatars. There are three of them: Shirdi Sai Baba, Sathya Sai Baba and Prema Sai Baba. The things the book teaches you are kind and comforting. The teachings of the Sai Avatars in the book Gratitude, Wisdom, from the Sai Avatars make you feel safe and loved.

This book is really great because it does not tell you what to do. It lets you figure things out for yourself when it comes to stuff. The book talks about things like karma and energy and gratitude. How we can grow as people. It explains these things in a way that's easy to understand. You can use these ideas in your life. Each part of the book has things for you to think about and say to yourself and ways to breathe that can help you feel more connected, to what you're learning. The book helps you take what you learn and actually live it.

This is not a book meant for intellectual debate, but one that speaks directly to the heart. For devotees, seekers, or anyone feeling emotionally or spiritually unsettled, it offers comfort, clarity, and quiet encouragement. It serves as a soothing presence for those walking a path of healing, faith, and inner connection.

Gratitude: Wisdom from the Sai Avatars is a simple, profound and meaningful book that shows the path to gratitude, faith and self-awareness. The book presents spiritual topics in a very simple and unconventional way, making it suitable for new readers as well.

The best part of this book is that it does not force any belief or practice on us. Rather, it helps us experience God within ourselves. The messages of Shirdi Sai Baba, Satya Sai Baba, and Prem Sai Baba are warm and inviting.

Each chapter in this book has reflections, affirmations, and breathing exercises at the end that make the book more practical and usable.

This is not an intellectual book, it is a book of the heart. Ideal for slow reading. If you are on a path of healing or seeking spiritual connection, this book will be a calming companion.

I have been going to Puttaparthi since 1999, mainly for my health, and my last visit was in May last year. What began as a journey for physical healing slowly became a journey of inner peace. At Prasanthi Nilayam, we took part in bhajans, where devotion flowed gently and the mind found stillness. Walking through the ashram and visiting the Chaitanya Jyoti Museum always felt deeply calming. In the sacred presence of Sathya Sai Baba, my sadness quietly fades away. Each visit brings calm, clarity, and a sense of spiritual healing that stays with me long after I return.

When you align yourself with the supreme energy and are able to feel the presence of unseen power, detach yourself from the negative emotions and move forward for more positive energy while believing in Karma and healing yourself and be grateful for everything is ‘Gratitude’.

The Gratitude series is not just a book with journal prompts, theories, and practical steps, it is the way to understand one's soul-life, reason behind birth, and effect of karma on the soul. It aligns with divinity and inherits positivity and peace.

It has the words of divinity and great presence of the Divine Cosmic Illuminator, The Sai avatars.

I was always interested in channeling and have a high belief in god but knowing the importance of Sai Avatars and ultimate presence, enlightened something in me, which might be my soul waiting for. I knew about Shirdi ke Sai, and heard about him a lot as a legend. He was present in India around 19s or 20s. He is the auspicious form of eternal energy and positivity as the “OM".

This is helpful for those who want to know the presence of their soul, heal from traumas, depressive moods, or emotional heart-breaks.

I would highly recommend this to the one who believes in the process of channeling, and the power of Sainath (Divine Cosmic Illuminator).

This book expands the idea of Sai Baba beyond physical form and invites the reader to see divinity as formless, universal energy. It made me reflect on how easily we limit spiritual truth to one image or one belief, while the essence of divinity is much larger than what we can see. The concept of the Divine Cosmic Illuminator encouraged me to look beyond names and forms and feel spirituality as energy, presence, and inner awareness rather than only devotion to a figure.
What stayed with me is how the book gently pushes the reader to move from dependence on form toward personal spiritual growth. The practices of visualisation, gratitude journaling, and conscious awareness felt like tools to shift from fear, separation, and victimhood toward empowerment and connection. This book did not give me answers it made me question my own way of seeing the Divine, and that questioning itself felt like growth.

I recently picked up Gratitude Wisdom from Sai Baba, and it has been such a grounding experience. Gratitude Wisdom from Sai Baba is a unique blend of spiritual teaching and practical application. Through the chanting of mantras and constant motivation to self-reflect, the book creates a sense of calm and devotion.
The most valuable aspect for me was the guidance on gratitude journaling. Many books suggest journaling, but this one provides the "how-to" and the "what," making it much easier to turn the lessons into a daily habit. It is highly reflective and forces you to look at your life through a more devotional lens.
Highly recommended for anyone looking to deepen their spiritual practice or find a more peaceful perspective on their daily life

If you’re into gratitude, healing, journaling, or just trying to fix your inner mess… this book is the vibe.

It talks about karma, energy, soul lessons and all that deep stuff, but in a super simple way — no complicated “guru language.” Every chapter gives you something practical like mantras, affirmations, or breathing exercises, so you’re not just reading — you’re actually doing.

Reading it before bed = instant mental detox.
Very cozy. Very mindful. Very demure. 😌

10/10 for anyone on their self-growth or spiritual glow-up journey.

I started reading this book during a phase of emotional exhaustion. I didn’t expect answers. I just wanted quiet. What I found was gentle clarity. The messages didn’t rush me. They allowed me to sit with my feelings without judgment. Some passages felt heavy, but honest. Over time, I noticed I was reacting less and reflecting more. That shift felt real. This book became something I returned to, not something I finished and forgot.

This book felt like a slow inner conversation. I couldn’t read too much at once. A few pages were enough. The sections on gratitude and forgiveness made me reflect on patterns I had avoided. It didn’t comfort me with easy words. It asked me to be honest with myself. That honesty stayed with me. I felt calmer, but also more aware. It helped me pause before reacting in daily life.

I picked up this book during a time of grief. I didn’t want motivation. I wanted understanding. The messages didn’t try to explain my pain away. They allowed it to exist. That made me feel seen. Over time, the reflections helped me breathe through difficult moments. It didn’t remove grief, but it softened it. That mattered.

What stood out to me was the book’s pace. It doesn’t rush healing. It respects it. Each message felt intentional. I found myself journaling after reading. That rarely happens. The ideas around karma and soul lessons felt challenging. But they also felt grounding. This book asked for responsibility, not blame. That balance felt mature.
