Nix Reynolds is fine on her own, thanks. As captain of the Atalanta, she’s carried her crew through the Solar Wars, helping them eke out a living as intergalactic smugglers for the resistance. When the resistance got pummeled into space dust, Nix charted a path away from accusations of treason, toward more legit gigs. She didn’t need anyone’s help. Not her estranged father, a retired general of the Union Navy. And definitely not her soon-to-be-ex husband Ethan Argos, who deserted her and the crew two years ago. When Ethan suddenly turns up begging for Nix’s help, he’s got the Union on his tail and a secret that threatens to tear the galaxy apart. Nix has questions, and more than a few choice words. But Ethan remembers the end of their relationship a little differently, and stars be damned, he’s always been her weakness. Against her better judgement, Nix agrees to harbor him, with the help of some questionable early-stage consciousness-storing technology. And so begins a mission to change the fate of the galaxy and a journey where, no matter how hard Nix tries, she can’t get Ethan out of her head.
