My Review: Rouge Hunter Life Force

Wild Entertaining Ride With Twists and Turns

In his Amazon description the author warns of strong language, violence, and explicit sex. Believe him. The sci-fi thriller has non stop action full of all three.

Zyra is as deadly as she is beautiful. Her doctor lover Ryan alternates between being a good guy and a demon possessed torn between love for wife Allie, bounty hunter Zyra, and his work. He's out to save humanity so his work is important! The main characters are well developed as are several minor ones.

A dark and violent world is skillfully created full of all sorts of low life thugs and dregs of humanity. Descriptions are well crafted and the reader is taken into a wild adventure on a distant planet.

At times the twists and turns make following the plot challenging. One has to like superhuman exploits in and out of bed to hold interest. Well written explicit steamy sex scenes are there in spades. If that's your cup of tea you're going to love Rouge Hunter.

I gave the novel four stars as I found the writing impressive but somewhat repetitive. I would have enjoyed more sci-fi and a little less sex. The novel is still a wildly entertaining read.

After all Zyra’s been through she needs to take some time to recuperate and get her ship fixed. She’s on Space Station Phoenix and is forced to go to the station doctor due to a mysterious illness. Dr. Ryan Grant is a very unusual physician and researcher, searching for the holy grail of science. Zyra’s also up for some R&R and isn’t always discriminating in her partners. Starting a relationship with Ryan may cost Zyra more than she ever realized…

Note to readers: This book has explicit/graphic scenes of sex and violence, please read at your own risk.

ROGUE HUNTER: LIFE FORCE seems like a glimpse into Zyra’s past through her present. While she has all this untold potential and definite badass-itude, she’s very fragile, too. I definitely wanted to shake Zyra so badly during the story due to some of her choices. However, I can see where telling this particular story is important in understanding Zyra and her destiny. ROGUE HUNTER: LIFE FORCE is a compelling and oft-times disturbing story – definitely enjoyed it!

****The author Kevis Hendrickson gave me an ARC of Rogue Hunter:Life Force in exchange for my opinion and this is MY opinion!!
This book can be read as a stand alone or as part of the series of the Rogue Hunter books. It follows Zyra in her life as a bounty hunter. It actually picks up where the Inquest left off- Zyra has gotten off the planet with her friend that saved her life. He is fighting for his life- and the captain of another ship is taking them to another planet to have him look at the hospital. Although they can't replace his arm they can give him somewhat of a useable replaceable one.
Now on this planet Zyra is trying to get her ship fixed so that she can get back into space before any one knows that she is there. As there is a price on her head. But first she has a one night stand with Ellie - then tells her it is over. Zyra realize that there is something wrong with her so she goes to the doctor to find out what. The doctor is doing a reach project on DNA and altering the life force of people's DNA to make them live longer so that they will never die.
Now this is where the story is kinda tricky-- see it has all sorts of twist and turns in it. Some one has put a hit a out on Zyra but who?? Will Zyra die?? Live to fight another day?? What about the doc and his wife Ellie?? and his nurse??
You have got to read this book Kevis has really out done himself in this 3rd book!!! It is totally amazing, brilliant, and genius !!!!! GO GET THIS NOW!!!!! I GIVE THIS A RATING OF 30 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS

Zyra is really out of control in this one. My “little girl” has officially grown up and this series will never be the same again. How did I end up being the author of 50 Shades of Rogue Hunter? Didn’t see it coming. Guess I need to grow up too. Anyway, deciding on a cover for this book ought to be interesting…

!Disclaimer Time! I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I will also make a note in advance that this story contains some hard subjects, mature material, and some possible triggers.

We re-join intergalactic bounty hunter, Zyra Zanr, shortly after her abduction and escape from her enemies in the previous book, "Dark Space". Zyra's a different woman now, she's vulnerable and there's something not quite right with her body; she's healing faster than normal and she doesn't feel like herself. Checking in to the clinic on the world known as Phoenix for care, she meets the handsome doctor, Ryan, a man on a mission to stop the aging process and prevent death from ever taking anyone ever again.

I experienced a real emotional roller coaster while reading this book. Unlike the first two books, the author warns us in a foreword that this is a bit of a departure from the action packed badassery we enjoyed in Book 1 and 2. As I had a bit of foreknowledge before I even received a copy, I was expecting something different, something much more personal and I wasn't let down. Zyra is emotionally raw and open and makes some really bad choices that I found really hard to swallow.

Don't be surprised if Zyra (and more so Doctor Ryan) makes you angry; if she makes you shout "why?". Don't be surprised if she makes you sad. I questioned a lot of what Zyra did in this book, but not for the reasons you might think. It was because Zyra was very human and I felt a lot of hurt reading "Life Force". It's not an easy read and it's not your typical science fiction fodder. What it is is a human story with a sci-fi backdrop told by a talented, wonderful writer and person.

The third book in the Rogue Hunter series really throws us for some loops. I was caught a little off guard with how much of the story was focused on her sex life. I would go so far as to saying it's a little risque crossing into the erotica zone in several scenes. A little more descriptive scenes than I would normally read.

This series amazing, the world building and characters are so well done that I just cannot get enough of this series. Zyra has a lot of ups and downs in this story. She gets sick and falls in love. Along with this whirlwind romance comes a lot of vulnerability from Zyra. I even felt that we lose a bit of the Zyra we have grown to know and see her having to crawl her way out of an emotional hole that has taken a toll on her.

Zyra still shows her bad ass side with not only being sick, in a roller coaster relationship, but also being hunted by hired killers. Several plot twists and harsh situations that come along with both. She still manages to find her way through things with a lot of action, and heartbreak.

The writing is spot on when it comes to getting the readers emotionally invested in the story. There were times I was so upset that I had to stop reading for awhile and I really felt for the relationships, both good and bad that occur in this book.

I recommend this series 100% as a very well written, plotted, and high paced space opera. It's a series that I have added to my automatic to-buy list because I know each new edition will be an amazing, entertaining and enjoyable read.

Zyra is back! This book was pretty good, there was action, steamy romance and science! Zyra is still being developed as a character and we get to see her becoming the bounty hunter that we saw in the very first stories with her. The writing was great, descriptions were easy to visualize and the dialogue was better than the last book. The action scenes were exciting and the sex scenes steamy. However, I got a little confused about the characters again as in the last book. Ryan Grant, the love interest seems like a good guy at first and then he hooks up with Zyra. Right away I am thinking this guy is a huge jerk for cheating on his wife and Zyra is stupid for even getting involved. Where I was confused on was if I was supposed to be OK with the relationship they have or if I am supposed to hate the guy? This goes off and on for the whole book, liking or hating the love interest. Most of the time I was just frustrated that Zyra could be so stupid to stay with this guy but I understand that she is supposed to be young and well...stupid. Hopefully this book is the turning point for Zyra to become the badass bounty hunter that we saw initially.
Overall I am giving the book 3.5 stars. I am looking forward to reading the other series that the author has mentioned focused mainly on the action badass Zyra and less of the dramatic Zyra. Thank you to the author for sending me a copy of Life Force to review! I look forward to seeing where Zyra Zanr goes next!

This story is part of a series. Readers who have read the earlier books in the series will recognize the characters right away, but I didn't read the earlier books before reading this. I was able to follow the story quite well with little or no confusion.

The writing is very descriptive with adverbs and adjectives used generously, though that isn't necessarily a criticism. I didn't always like how some descriptive words were used, but I don't necessarily think it was always a bad thing. Some readers will enjoy this since the use of descriptive words means that they don't have to sit through paragraphs-long descriptions of each thing that comes into the scene (think: Charles Dickens). I also do like how the characters appear to be people first and, though distinct from one another, tend to have goals and ideas that can be translated, i.e. there aren't major disconnects between characters and when they interact, they act in ways that make sense.

The main criticism I have is with Jack's dialogue. He is supposed to be Southern, but I didn't really like the way he talks. He is written to basically have a lot of history that is actually pretty interesting, but the colloquialisms are not very believable and don't usually line up with what his character is supposed to be.

Overall though, this story is quite good and readers will find a lot to like.

I was provided a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Rogue Hunter: Life Force (#3) by Kevis Hendrickson: Close your eyes… imagine a smoking hot babe with curves in all the right places… now picture that hot babe with a machete going to work on a band of men hell-bent on killing her. In this book you have the best of both worlds combined in an action packed romp. This sexy little sci-fi number will keep you guessing to the very end.

I hardly do this, but I would honestly have to give this book 5 stars. On the surface you have this buxom bounty hunter, Zyra, who stumbles upon the God-like figure of Dr. Ryan Grant. After finding new ways to explore each others bodies, throw in a dash of action and adventure and you have a great book. But look a little closer, you will see the depth of each character. The complexity of their relationships and consequences of their actions just enthrall you, it’s like witnessing an accident… you just can’t look away. An Excellent read Mr. Hendrickson; I didn’t want the fun to end.

WOW! What a story!
"Life Force" is a continuation of Zyra's adventures.
It was full of ups and downs, romantic angst, getting physical in more ways than one and death... The character of Zyra is young, beautiful and strong... Dr. Ryan is a handsome Adonis who appears to have only good intentions.
Our bounty hunter takes on a new adventure into the foray of love and betrayal while just trying to get her ship fixed so she can escape without a bounty being claimed on her. Poor choices and one night stands lead to an action packed book that is sure to thrill any sci-fi buff!
Will Zyra hold the key to Ryan's future, humanities future, and DNA altered lives?

Life Force goes beyond space opera and is a good read. I enjoyed it quite a bit. The writing is nicely done with changes in pace to match the scene. I was worried about the addition of more adult themed scenes – often these tend to be gratuitous fillers that don’t help the story. In this case, they work well as they expand on the characters (especially Zyra). There is a selection of bad guys and gals as befits a good space opera and enough switch ups to keep you guessing. There’s even a mad scientist mucking about to add that final bit of spice. All together a fun romp.

This was an amazing story or love and intrigue. As in most stories love conkers all, but does it really? Does every single love story end that way? Does this one? You will only know if you read this rip your heart out one minute and sew it back in within the next chapter. Good times hard time steamy times it has it all. This is one book that should be on your reading list for the new year 2014. Buy It Read It Love It...... Happy reading

I will admit that throughout the first half of this book, I was deeply disturbed. I didn't like Zyra at all as a character. She's morally bankrupt. Not only that, I felt like I was reading pornography. I'll admit, the scenes are well-written, but I wasn't expecting quite so much erotica and quite so little story line. I even thought about requesting to not do the review and stopping where I was. I'm not against erotica, I just find it annoying when I want action and mystery. According to the previous reviews, that's what these books are all about. Kevis does include a forward explaining that he's branching the series in two different directions, however, not being familiar with the series previously, it didn't make any sense to me. Until I started reading.

I did a little research and realized I must be missing something. Every single reviewer has given this great ratings. I don't normally check other reviews while reading a book, but when I fear I must be off-track somewhere, I try to see what I'm missing. Well, here's what I was missing. I haven't read any of the other stories and I hadn't finished the book. Zyra is a beloved character. By this stage, she's able to make some morally bankrupt decisions without having her rabid readers hate her for it. They may shake their head in wonder, but that's about it. For myself, having no investment in Zyra, I had a different reaction. So, I plugged on, and I'm thankful I did.

Entering the second half of the book, I started to realize why the first half had so many erotic scenes in it. It was setting the stage for the second half. Gotcha! Once we get past the first half, we actually find a thrilling story developing. There's more action and drama. Quite a lot, actually, and though I still didn't become a fan of Zyra, I didn't detest her quite as much. In an attempt to make her a more balanced character, I found she switched between two different personas. She was either super-whiny female whom I wanted to smack, or superhero. During the superhero moments, I actually began to have a little respect for her.

The most intriguing part of this book for me is the way that a super villain is created. It's something right out of Marvel comics. I don't want to say too much because I'm afraid of putting in spoilers, but I'll say that this part of the book made all of the trial of the first half well-worthwhile.

If you're interested in checking out a series with a strong female character and plenty of action, this could be it for you. I can definitely see most of my friends enjoying this series. However, please don't start with this book. Start at the beginning and work your way here. Though it works fine as a standalone, you won't get as much out of it as others who have started at the beginning.

Rogue Hunter: Life Force by Kevis Hendrickson is a speculative fiction novel about a young bounty hunter named Zyra Zanr who seeks the help of handsome Doctor Ryan Grant during a danger-filled stopover to repair her spaceship.

Zyra, still recovering from a harrowing trip that nearly took her life, wants nothing more than to lay low at Space Station Phoenix. But a sweet one-night stand with a lonely woman, then getting involved with sexy Ryan, plunges her into passionate tête-à-têtes. Even worse, someone wants her dead. Zyra battles hardened thugs who will stop at nothing to humiliate and kill her.

Rogue Hunter: Life Force is a whirlpool of bedroom romps and desperate mêlées. Puzzling out Zyra’s illness, plus the unexpected development of Ryan’s research project, kept this reader holding on to the very end. The story concluded with some delicious revenge for the bad guys, and bittersweet developments for our heroine. Zyra is a kick-booty gal in a fight, but the story also showed her emotional vulnerability with lover Ryan.

Adjusting or removing some phrases could make this hard-hitting and sexy romp even better. For example, the story’s verisimilitude suffered with using current day idioms like “good Samaritans” and “hell in a hand basket.” Zyra’s futuristic world had no context for these biblical references, and they pulled me out of the tale.

Hendrickson’s story delivers gritty blows and is not for the fainthearted. Fans of explicit romantic scenes and carnage-filled brawls would enjoy the adventures in Rogue Hunter: Life Force.

I normally enjoy this genre greatly, but I was not a fan of this book. I am a hopeless romantic and there is no romance in this book. Zyra a rogue bounty hunter gets dropped on a planet and realizes she has an illness that is killing her. She goes to Ryan, a doctor trying to find the cure for aging, to find a cure for herself. The plot of the story was a good one with so much potential, which is why I found it so disappointing that the characters themselves and how they interacted were so off putting. Very explicit sexual scenes including rape.

The dynamic of the relationship between Zyra and Ryan was crude, unhealthy, and unrealistic. Zyra is infatuated with Ryan, the character claims that she loves him and that they are meant for each other based on a few very explicit sexual experiences with no romance based foundation. Then he treats her like shit, but she loves him. He rapes her and beats her and she is fearful of her very life, but four pages later she has always trusted him, their love is so pure, and she knows they are meant to be together. The character was a self masochist. Zyra is portrayed as this physical badass, but the weakest minded child when it comes to "this love" between them.

The bad guys are crude, and truly the worst of the worst, but to be expected.

This was a goodreads giveaway win.

This is the third book in the series. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Zyra, Zyra oh what trouble you got yourself into!

Zyra goes in to see the doctor because in the first time in her life, these past few years she has been getting sick and remarkably before that she has never been sick in her entire lifetime.

You get to a see whole different side of Zyra and I wasn't sure if I liked that side of Zyra. She was super needy and Ryan had her so deluded, it was hard to see the real Zyra. I was a fan of Ryan at first but then he just got so bizarre!

Don't get me wrong, you WILL love this book, its action packed and filled with alot of hints to the mystery of Zyra!

Book Blurb:

While on the run from her enemies, Zyra goes into hiding on Space Station Phoenix. She comes down with a mysterious illness and seeks the aid of Ryan Grant, the station doctor. Fearing a terminal disease, Zyra turns to Ryan for support but their budding friendship takes an unexpected turn.

As things heat up between Zyra and Ryan, vile gangsters hunt her. Zyra knows she must get off of Phoenix before it is too late. But can she risk leaving without a cure for her illness?

Death haunts her every step and time is running out. As her health worsens, Zyra's uncontrollable desire for Ryan takes her down a dark path of unbridled sensuality that threatens to destroy her very soul.
