This book is a good solid 4.5 stars. This is a fantastic addition to Circus of Dreams. The book does leave on one heck of a cliffhanger that makes me want the next book now (and at the time of this review, this book hasn't even been published yet). The only reason this didn't get a 5 stars is in the begging 1/4 of the book, it didn't have me gripped like the first but it was still an amazing read and highly recommend this book... Especially if you like (what my husband calls) vampire smut.
In the content warnings, this is what is written "This book contains graphic violence, sexually explicit content, blood, gore and a cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers"..... Ummmmm ma'am, you do not play when you say "a cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers".
OH AND my favorite line/quote is the last line in the book...... I was screaming WHAT THE WHAT!!!!! Like my dog was seriously looking at me like I was crazy because I was talking out loud to a book. You cannot leave it like that. I know you did but UGH!!!! I feel like a kid that just got my hand slapped and told no. The sheer audacity to end it like that. And I am SORRY, I cannot say what the last line is as it is one of the biggest spoiler of all.............
So this book follows the story of Knox and Danni. As memories start to surface, we learn what really happened when she was at the castle and of their past. The pull between Knox and Danni is clearly there. I want to say more but I don't want to leave spoilers... This is so hard to write without leaving spoilers. This book goes between current times and a year prior (at the castle). As the book progresses, the story progresses from how she finished the "circus of dreams" and ended up at the castle (underground). It walks through the connection between them (the bond) and the lengths that Knox will go to in order to protect her. He is clearly "I will burn the world" for her... swoon. There is some spice but I found it very mild. So for those that want some spice but not hot and heavy explicit, this will hit the spot just right. As memories start to resurface, you learn a lot of things that had me saying..... UMMMMMMMMMM I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW!!!! And WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!!! oh and UMMMMM, No, that's ok.... Actually that's not ok.... I need answers......And made me think back to the first book and say "what the what"... and I didn't see that coming.
I did end up staying up late to finish. I was at 64% of the book and it had me gripped where I needed to know.... The last half of this book had me sitting on the edge of my seat needing to know what happened or what is going on. Again, can't say too much because of spoilers but dang... this left me wanting more.
My plan is to read the 3rd book (whenever it comes out, Summer 2026) and then go back and re-read all of them to get all the hidden eggs. That is the only downfall to being provided an early copy from the author is you can't look up spoilers to know what happens to know what are the hidden eggs in the book. Overall this book is fantastic and a must read if you read Circus of Dreams and loved it.

I am so happy to be a part of B. Green’s team again for this series. 🖤 Circus of Dreams was actually my very first ARC read, and now I get to return for Book 2: City of Nightmares which makes this experience even more special. ✨

I don’t even know where to start because this book left me in my feelings.
City of Nightmares grabbed me from the first page and never let go. It felt like coming home to characters I already cared deeply about, only to be thrown straight into chaos, secrets, and moments that made my heart race. I found myself constantly thinking, just one more chapter, and suddenly hours were gone.
Danni is the kind of female lead I love — strong, stubborn, and unapologetically herself. But what really got me was seeing her allow herself to be soft without losing that edge. Her growth felt real and earned. And Knox? He completely stole my heart in this book. The intensity, the loyalty, the way he loves with his whole soul — I was not prepared.
This sequel didn’t just continue the story, it elevated it. The emotions hit harder, the bonds felt deeper, and the twists genuinely surprised me. When I finished the last page, I just sat there staring at the book, already missing these characters and desperately needing the next installment.
If you’re thinking about starting this series, do it. And if book three isn’t in my hands soon… I might lose my mind.

INFINITY STARS!! PHENOMENAL!!! NO FREAKING NOTES!!!
City of Nightmares picks up right where Circus of Dreams left off and sends you for the ride of a life time. B. Green didn’t leave a single stone unturned while writing book 2 of this series. Bonds were formed, secrets were revealed, and major plot twist were dropped.
It was so good to see Danni remain the badass that she is and standing her ground but I also loved seeing her let her walls down a little and allow the bond between her and Knox grow. And then what is there to say about Knox other than my man remains delicious and definitely let it be known that he will burn everything to the ground for the one he loves.
I knew this book was going to be good from the way book one left off but it truly exceeded all my expectations. I highly recommend starting this series if you haven’t. B. Green does a great job setting the scene in book one and then blowing your mind in book two. Only thing left to say is bring on book 3!!

This book right here has completely blown my mind, what a ride it has been, it’s absolutely fantastic. I wasn’t prepared for all twists and turns.
It’s heartbreakingly, soul shattering amazing. This book 100% delivers.
City of Nightmares picks up right from where The Circus of Dreams left us, you learn so much more about the characters and the background of the blood sucking vampires and it brings a whole new meaning to the story.
Knox and Danni continue on their journey after the binding but not without their differences and will have you gripping your chair! This couple certainly puts you through the paces and are literally on fire! I loved this book so much and I’m going to be needing book 3 asap. ♥️♥️

I literally inhaled this book!!!! I thought book 1 was good but damn! this was even better and opens the flood gates on a whole load of stuff. It continues the story of Danni and Knox …. oh Knox!🔥🥰 I absolutely love him but he had me questioning his decisions reading this.
Packed full of tension, betrayal, twists and turns, my head was in a spin with all the questions, answers and memories that were unveiled. Absolutely fantastic read with a humdinger of a cliffhanger for the ending that will have you begging for book 3.

So close to perfection. I score books 5 stars generally as they make me cry or feel really strong emotions so this is the only reason its not a 5.
I love @BGreenAuthor writing style. I enjoyed the wider world building and lore in this book. The details about how Knox and Danni got their bond and how this impacts on their relationship was novel and intriguing. City of Nightmares is an amazing continuation of Circus of Dreams. I loved watching Danni and Knox’s relationship unfold and seeing Danni discover so much about herself along the way. Her struggle with her mom’s death and her need for revenge added so much depth to her journey. The twists in this book will have you gripping your seat from start to finish. And that ending—wow. I need the next book right now!

Follow Danni and Knox to see what happens after the circus is over. I enjoyed the way B Green gave you what was happening in the present and what happened immediately after Danni survived the trials of the circus.

This time round Knox discovers that everything he thought he knew, seems to be grainy.
As they seek answers they discover more and more holes in what they thought they knew.
The lies, secrets and illusions are in full swing.
