Nothing's the End of the World

Rate this book
Any child who has faced a surprise test, received the worst haircut in history, or felt misunderstood will find much to love in this funny and triumphant collection of poems. Sara Holbrook acknowledges such miseries with insight and moxie. Humorously illustrated by J.J. Smith-Moore, the poems confirm that, whatever the evidence to the contrary, nothing's the end of the world.

That poem was what first grapped me to read that collection:

A collection of poems that truly depicts what every kid/preteen goes through in home and school. The small and big fears, insecurities, and hopes that we all "unconsciously" take with us till we grow up.

A quick and funny reading to poems that touched my heart with their honesty and simplicity.

And that one too...

I have not read this book, but Sarah Holbrook is one of my favorite contemporary poets. I heard her read her poetry at a Writer's Workshop and each peace moved me to an emotional climax. She finished with "Chicks Up Front" -- also the name of one of her books -- and I sobbed out loud. Her style is personal. She writes performance poetry and her performance is phenomenal.
