Karma Sannyasa is a dynamic and practical way of life that helps the individual to develop higher awareness through life rather than away from it. Its concept is to live life fully, to participate in all events externally, while internally maintaining an attitude of non-doership. This book talks about Karma Sannyasa.
2.5 stars. The book revolves around Karma Yoga, a very interesting topic. The first 100 pages are great, almost 4-star worthy. The 200 later pages just keep repeating the same thing over and over and over and over again, and is in dire need of editing. It feels like the author has no respect for the readers time nor intelligence. The average chapter in the 2nd part (the last 200 pages) is about a topic already dealt with, and at the end of every chapter is a Q&A that asks exactly what the chapter just answered. Eg. The chapter on karma, after 10 pages on karma (for the third time), the first question is "what is karma?" This leads to a very frustrating experience and I gave up the last 50 pages.
I’ve read this book multiple times and every time it teaches me something new about my relationship with myself and everyone else. A brief introductory guide to a yoga.
A nice intro to karma yoga, informative and very motivational for those considering this as a lifestyle choice. However, it is also very repetitious and the book could be half the length because of this. In a sense with yoga, sometimes this is helpful as a motivational tool and to keep practitioners on track so it may be useful to those struggling to stay on track or losing faith. It gives a good insight into how regular people need not live the life of a monk to live spiritually-focussed lives, but is very focused on the householder. The principles can easily be applied to people in varied roles, but as the book advises it is best to discuss life changes such as sannyasa with a knowledgeable guru.
