Vipers Den: Book Two Pixie & Jake

Vipers Den Part Two~ Pixie & Jake

I’m Pixie Cole, no that is not the name I was given at birth. It’s the name I chose for myself. I used the scares of my past to reinvent myself. I am now a stylist at Vipers Den. It’s a safe haven where people with eccentricities like myself feel safe, welcome and accepted.

Some of the most important choice a girl should make were taken away from me. I never got to choose. So, when the chance came to escape, I took it with both hands. I have been in full control of every detail of my life ever since.

That is until Jake Kennedy strutted in and changed everything. I hoped and prayed he wouldn’t recognize me. But he did… He wanted answers, he wanted closure, and he wanted me.

But Pixie Cole cannot have the man who loved Tia Malone. When I used to close my eyes and envision my future, it was him I saw. Could we be like that again? Or did I throw away my chance at happiness when I left him behind?

*This novella is the second part in the Vipers Den Series. Each installment is a story of it's own, NOT a continuation of the first.

My Review:

I am proud to say, I am one of JB Heller’s original fans. When she started her Facebook page, the “Likes” were in single digits when I zealously clicked that button. So I am as pleased as punch to review her newest work, which is her best to date. I am loving this series and her ever-expanding cast of quirky characters. The story is steamy, interesting, entertaining, witty, and well-paced. It was a quick and satisfying read, I didn’t put it down even once after I started page 1… I don’t think I could have stopped unless my house had caught fire. I am already eagerly awaiting Part 3, hurry JB!

Short & sweet! Review to come with my tour date of 12/6...

**FULL REVIEW**

“Tia Malone died twelve years ago, but from her death. Pixie Cole was born. I am strong, independent, guarded, and right now, I’m afraid. I’m afraid of everything I feel when I look at you. I haven’t allowed myself to feel for another person since I ran away and left you behind. You were the only good thing in my life, and it tore me apart having to leave you behind.”

When Jake Kennedy walked into the Den, Pixie’s life changed forever, again. Being from her past, Pixie tries to ignore the instant draw for fear that more than just the love of her life has tracked her down. If anyone ever found her, she’s as good as dead...

“When I ran away, I left the love of my life behind. For years it was my biggest regret—my only regret, actually. I was proud of the woman I had become, of the life I had created for myself. And then he found me.”

…and her life was never the same.

It’s amazing how love stands the test of time; when so many years have passed and the connection is still just as strong. It’s forever. Plain and simple.

Thankfully, the past is dead and because of that, Pixie can live happily ever after…

This was a great, short and sweet story! I am continuously amazed by this author in her ability to tell engaging stories with enough depth and detail without being too long. At the same time, I wish they were longer because I want more! I cannot wait for the next installment of Vipers Den!

Well this series is really becoming a favorite of mine.

Pixie totally made me smile in book one and I wanted her story from the moment I closed it. I knew that Jake was there to sweep her off her feet and make up for all the years lost. I wasn’t let down in any way. Jake was so perfect and I loved how they were together. The way these two broken hearted souls were torn apart really broke my heart. How they came together like the missing pieces of a puzzle put my heart right back together again.

Some hot times and some sweet times definitely kept me flipping the pages and I read this in one sitting.

I did feel that the Asa issue was taken a little too far but in the end J.B wrapped it up in the right way. This was a sexy and sweet and also emotional at times second chance love story that would please the hardest of romantic hearts. 4 solid stars for sure. Not to mention ..Jake totally earned the Perfect Alpha Award .

Well its happened again…Ms Heller delivers another hit! Pixie and Jakes story was…

arrested development animated GIF”>

There’s no dilly dally here, we jump right into the thick of things. Pixie is running from her past and it seems to have shown up at the den in the form of the very sexy Jake. Who is Jake you ask? I hate giving away spoilers but I will say he is her biggest regret.

<img data-original-width=

Jake made a mistake in his past and has been fighting to change things ever since. He will not lose Pixie again and will do whatever it takes to make her see the depths of his devotion.

The ending was absolutely endearing Jake and Pixie have fought hard to get to where they are and they have no intension of ever looking back. Their destiny has always been each other it was just a matter of time for things to click back into place after their tragic pasts.

This is the second novella in the Vipers Den series and this time we find out the back story of Pixie.

Pixie aka Tia has come from a controlling and demanding family, pushing her to do things that to another would be incomprehensible. Twelve years ago she finally escaped but the devastating impact of that was leaving Jake behind but now he's back in her life looking for answers.

This was a short and sweet read and I finally got to find out about those strange ears of Pixie. The macabre way that they came to be was a shocker and was not a chosen vanity reason as first thought. There is quite a lot of depth to our Pixie.

The romance between Pixie and Jake was quickly re-established for them. The storyline was short and sweet and although I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book it was still an enjoyable read. 3.5 stars.

Title: Vipers Den: Part Two Pixie and Jake
Author: JB Heller
Rating: 4.75 Groupie Stars
Reviewer: Ebbie

Pixie escaped her past and has created a new life for herself. That is until Jake walks into the salon. She hoped he didn't recognize her but how could he forget the woman who stole his heart?

This is another great, short read. Pixie and Jake's story is about second chances. But can Pixie let go of her fears of the past and build a future with Jake? Once again, great characters, drama, action, and an all around great love story. I cannot wait for part three to read more about the amazing women of Vipers Den.

Jake my man. Claim what's yours and let the others know you are here to stay. I enjoyed the reunion of Jake and Pixie. Piper was right in her meddling to bring Pix soulmate to where he belonged. Leaving the past behind was great because the future for them is so bright.

I just couldn't believe the way Ash reacted but I guess it was just too much. I was waiting for him to do something drastic but happy he reframed and walked away.

4.5 Crazy Stars!!!

This was a great story and a quick read. I was excited when I stumbled upon the sign up for the blog tour because I really enjoyed reading Piper & Kade's story. Pixie & Jake's story was just as good. Sweet & funny with just the right amount of steaminess. Can't wait to read more from JB.

I’m loving these short stories! Pix and Jake go way back. She had to leave him behind in a life filled with pain and betrayal. Twelve years have passed and it’s an accident that he stumbles upon her again. Their love never went away. There’s still fear but there’s hope for a new beginning. It’s hot and sweet.

** DEBBIE'S 4 STAR REVIEW **

This is the second book in this series and I was sucked into the story right away. I was glad to see the whole crazy crew was back for this book but the story mainly focused around Pixie and Jake.

“Jake Kennedy just walked into the Den and he’s staring at me like a long-lost lover. Technically, that’s what we were, but I hadn’t seen him in nearly twelve years.”

I love how the author doesn’t fill the book with a lot of unnecessary things and gets right to the meat of the story. The only thing I would of liked to have seen was a little more drama between Pixie and Jake when they finally saw each other again. I felt like he forgave her to easy and it was like twelve years never passed.

The chemistry between Pixie and Jake was fantastic and there relationship was believable. You could totally feel how they were soul mates and belonged together. Lets face it; Pixie had a real rough childhood but never let her past define her future. Jake was not only sweet but also sexy as h***!!!

“I was no longer Tia Malone; I was Pixie Cole now, and Pixie Cole couldn’t have the boy that belonged to Tia Malone.”

The book is fast paced and I happen to like that in a book. I hate when I feel like the story is being dragged out just to make the book longer. The story flows fabulous and you will most definitely devour this one in one sitting.

“People say it’s not the destination that matters, but the journey. Jake and I have had one hell of a journey to get to where we are today.”

Pixie Cole isn’t the name I was born with. It’s the name I gave myself when I ran away from home at the age of seventeen. I had to leave everyone I loved behind for fear that I would be caught. My biggest regret was leaving Jake Kennedy. He was the love of my life. I am now a stylist at Vipers Den. It’s a safe haven where people with eccentricities like myself feel safe, welcome and accepted. I have been in full control of every detail of my life ever since. That is until Jake Kennedy strutted in and changed everything. I hoped and prayed he didn’t recognize me. But he did… He wants answers, he wants closure, and he wants me. But Pixie Cole cannot have the man who loved Tia Malone, can I? l When I used to close my eyes and envision my future, it was him I saw. Can we be like that again? Or did I throw away my chance at happiness when I threw away my past?

* I loved Pixie from Viper's Den part 1. I’m so happy she got her own book. In the beginning of this book you get a hint at Pixies old life. The life she led before Vipers Den. I liked that you get a small glimpse and it had my mind going. I was thinking of all these different things it could have been but when she revealed a small part it was totally not what I had initially thought. I'm glad all my questions were finally answered by the end. This book hints at something dark but doesn't fully reveal it in full detail. I really liked that. This is such a fantastic add to the Vipers Den series. I wonder who's going to be next. I highly recommend this book.

This second novella takes us into the world of Pixie and Jake. We still see more of the other characters developing throughout the story, which weaves everything together quite nicely. I love that these two are the focus but family and community is important, allowing the reader to learn about everyone at Viper’s Den and establish more of a story, based on the foundation of the fist novella.

Pixie is a woman hiding from her past, a past that is mysterious and seemingly dangerous. When the only boy she has ever loved and trusted walks into her life again, she is shocked, terrified, and happy. Jake is the perfect companion to Pixie. He knows all of her secrets and her scars but loves her the same. There is no pity in his eyes, just admiration and love. His devotion and commitment to her is beautiful. I loved how these two got a second chance! A good second chance romance will make me smile and this one fits the bill!

JB Heller introduces what has the potential to be a very heavy story. Pixie’s past is shrouded in mystery and that is hard to do for a novella. The reader is only given tiny glimpses into her past but those glimpses allow us to create a picture that sets the stage. There is no doubt about her history and with just a few facts we are able to understand her hesitations and fears. That takes talent. Sometimes you have too many details but this has just enough to hook you and satisfy the reader.

I think this story ended perfectly. There is some drama and heartache but these two end up where they belong- together. I loved Pixie and Jake’s story!

5*

This is probably my fave JB Heller book to date. This is Pixie and Jake’s story. It’s told in a dual POV and although we are initially introduced to Pixie I feel it quickly turns into Jake telling the story.

He has been searching for her since she walked out of his life 10 years ago with no explanation, both have been roaming until fate settles Jake in the one town that Pixie settled in. They have a lot to overcome, he can’t understand why she left and she doesn’t know if she can trust enough to let him back in.

Throw into the mix a jealous – not so gay – best friend who decides now is the best time to let Pixie know he loves her and you know this isn’t going to be an easy ride.

You get a brief insight into Pixie and Jake’s previous left and it’s not pretty. Pixie’s life was quite dark (no spoilers) and although you never really find out Jake’s involvement you get the impression his wasn’t great either.

“We were a pair; it was destiny that pulled us apart, but it was also destiny that brought us back together.”

Piper is her usual spunky self, and is very protective and loving of Pixie.

“Don’t think I can’t kick your arse myself if you hurt her.
These novella’s are shaping up to be a great series, so easy and enjoyable to read. I can’t wait until the next one!

** ARC provided on behalf of the author for an honest review **

We loved Vipers Den series, this one tells the story of Pixie and Jake.

Pixie works at the Den with Pipa and has for the past 4 years when she come across Pipa at Rhett’s workshop when she come into town and has never looked back.

Pixie has a terrible past and lots of demons that no one knows about and that she wouldn't want anyone to know about until the day Jake walked into the Den...

Pixie freaked out and ran and hid to get away from Jake, she wasn't sure if they had come looking for her after 12 years she thought she was safe....

Jake has really rattled Pixie and he wants to see her, he has so many questions her he loves her she was his 1st love and his soul mate. He wants her and will do what it takes to get to her......

Can Jake get his Pixie back?

Will he get a happy ever after?

Quotes from the book

"I'm going to my room so I don't fuck you senseless right here right now in the hall way, is that ok with you?"

"Trust me when I say I would rather have you pinned against that wall, sinking my length deep inside you than be having this conversation, buy I need to know why you want this first"

We love JB Hellers writing and we love her books there a great quick read and this one is no different

Pixie Cole is Piper’s elfish stylist at the Viper’s Den but she was once Tia Malone. But the life she ran away from threatens to return the day Jake Kennedy walks into the shop. A blast from the past, Pixie isn’t ready to face all the memories Jake evokes. But Jake wants her back.

“We were a pair; it was destiny that pulled us apart, but it was also destiny that brought us back together.”

This second novella in the series isn’t as light-hearted as the first, and Pixie doesn’t have the brass that Piper does, although Piper and Kade do make appearances as the supporting characters this time around. On one hand I felt like the backstory on Pixie was a little vague and yet what was hinted at probably wasn’t something I really wanted to read about so maybe it’s best that way.

There’s a little bit of a love triangle in this one, but Pixie just has to follow her heart and let go of her fears. The question is can they take it slow.

“’Trust me when I say I would rather have you pinned against that wall, sinking my length deep inside of you, than be having this conversation.’”

Overall, a sweet story of overcoming the past, building a new life, and finding a place where you belong.

Hmmm So I don’t know where to start with this one. I liked it. I just didn’t LOVE it the way I loved Piper and Kades story. Don’t get me wrong I love Pixie. I love her style and her class. Just the way she holds herself comes off as regal BUT I just felt like she had potential for a MUCH MUCH longer story. I get it I signed on for Novellas and while I was prepared for the short amount of time it would take for me to read this book I found that Pixie became more and more interesting as the story went on. Ash, her bff, also made for a very interesting story and one that I hope the author pursues. I feel like there was so much that was crammed into this short story that I very well could have filled up on a much longer story about these two. Her background, or the little that we get to see, is chock full of horrifying sounding details that could make a great story. As for Jake he didn’t particularly tickle my cookie with his over possessive machoness but im a pretty insensitive asshole (or so my mother says). Overall I did truly like this book I just felt like there were chapters and chapters missing. Content wise? It was a sweet and relaxing read that I could very easily recommend to someone who just needs to read something lighter than their usual.

★★★★★★Arc given in exchange for n honest review★★★★★★

Pixie Cole is a vulnerable, closed off woman. With alot of baggage, and past demons to boot, every time she gets scared she runs.

Jake stepping into the salon causes Pixies heart to go into overdrive, and in true form, she again does what she does best she runs and hides away in the back.

Her best friend Piper sees shes battling with emotions so she acts as an advocate.
Piper sees jake isnt going to hurt Pixie, but prepares him with the facts that if he does he will face her rathe.

I absolutely love the way their story unravels, its breathtakinly beautiful, they used to be young lovers 12 years previous. I guess you never forget your true love.

I dont want to put spoilers in this thread, so all I'll say is that pasts have a way of ripping your life apart.
You have to learn to trust at some point in your life, but is it pixies time? Can jake be the one to heal her?

Pixie also has to deal with disturbing news that could change her whole life.

Is fate ready to give her happy ever after ? Heaven knows she deserves one.

I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author J.B. Heller. This is Pixie and Jake's POV story from the Vipers Den series. Each part tells the story of a different couple where 1 of them works at the Den.

Pixie has been living on her own for 12 years but she can never really escape her past of abuse. The 1 guy she was in love with, Jake, she had to leave behind. Jake never got over Tia when she left all those year ago and fate stepped in and brought him to her.

The character of Pixie and Jake was great and the way they interacted together really was like a couple next door. The author created a smooth flowing story line in this book.

This is for any romance book lover who likes a little intrigue with their story.

This is the second book in this series and I have to say I totally enjoyed reading Pixie's story

Whacky Pixie is not so whacky, I had a feeling from the first book that there had to be something in Pixie's past and it wasn't anything good either. The only thing good in Pixie's past has finally found her, Jake. He was always the constant in her life back then, but she took off then without a goodbye. That was 12 years ago and now he is back in her life again..

Will Pixie be able to forget all the bad in her past and make a new start again, this time with Jake? Will Jake be able to forget that she left him 12 years ago with no explanation or goodbye and live in her world?

It's well worth the read to find out.

This book is about Pixie surviving the horrible life that she had known from her family. She only loved one man and she had to run from her past and from him. Now Jake has found her and she is afraid of what she feels and if her past will come and find her again.

This is a great quick read of how two people that love each other can find that love again no matter what the time frame between seeing each other again. It was great to see that Pixie could overcome some of her fear and learn that Jake is what she needs.

Another great book from JB Heller. Can't wait to see the next Vipers Den book.

Pixie and Jake have a history. Twelve years ago, she left her abusive family and Jake as well. He was the love of her life and she has regretted leaving him every day. But she had no choice. She left Tia behind and became Pixie.

Jake finally gave up looking for Tia. He never thought he'd ever see her again. Now that he's found her, he'll do whatever he has to in order to be with her. She may have a new name, but she's still his sweetness.

I loved both Jake and Pixie and enjoyed this novella. Jake is such a great guy and you can feel the love and emotion between these two as you read. I enjoyed seeing Piper and Kade again and am looking forward to Tay and Nate's story next.

Another fun read. While I didn't love this second book of the series as much as the first, it is still a solid book. The chemistry between Pixie and Jake runs deep and tender, due to their shared, pained past - not quite the fire and spark I love - but undeniably sweet.

Two books in, and this series is strong. I have a feeling it might start to feel a bit repetitive if all of the books were devoured one after another, but I'll definitely revisit it. Keep this series in your back pocket - they will be the perfect way to recover after a heavy, angsty read.
