No Stress Space Express #8

A Miner Inconvenience: A Cozy, Low-Stakes, Slice-of-Life Sci-fi Adventure

Rate this book
Between a rock and a fun place…

Howdy, pal. Rusty here, reportin’ from the galaxy's prettiest hole in the ground. This here mine has crystals bigger than my first apartment, shinier than a chrome bumper, and more valuable than my mama's secret biscuit recipe. And we're all set to haul a three-ton beauty home to get some friends outta hot water.

'Course, nothing's ever that simple. Turns out there's a mechanical glitch that's got the mining operation more gummed up than the bottom of a school desk in detention. Nothin’ for it but for me and Mike to roll up our sleeves and apply a little home-grown ingenuity. Luckily we've got Piper to give us a hand. And Jenna too, if we can get her to stop gazing at the sparkly rocks like they're puppies in a pet store.

After plowing through a blizzard cold enough to freeze the smile off a snowman, we figured the return trip would be a cakewalk. But this moon's weather has a twisted sense of humor, and the road home is gonna be a whole new flavor of ornery.

No Stress Space Express is a series about finding your true family, told with the common-sense wisdom of Jerry Boyd's Bob and Nikki series (Bob's Saucer Repair), and the low-stakes world building of Travis Baldree's Legends & Lattes. Join Rusty and his crew for a heart-warming, laugh-out-loud adventure with no tension, and no drama. Just good clean fun, great friendships, and a little romance too.

This whole series is just a nice, easy going scifi. Easy read, nice relaxing world.

In this installment, they start where they left off in 7, half way through their trucking run on an ice moon to retrieve a crystal to rebuild the motherships tractor beam. They complete the journey, make some interesting discoveries and make more friends on the way.

This series makes an amazing pallet cleanser if you've been reading heavy stuff, or found yourself locked in a genre and need a reset. There's no impending doom. There's no big bad guy. No one is chasing them trying to hurt them. Just people being mostly average people, just in space.

I would have rated it........

.......five stars but I was distracted by the "filler" that was written in. 18 years associated with Newspaper production /printing used anything that could take up space. The story before going into the mine was Useless "filler". I actually skipped 10+ pages looking for the story to continue. Comeon Mr Bodett. This is a new low for you. Your much better than that. You was cited as the next Jerry Boyd. I was considering that till I read this book (in one day) i trust that you will do better. Still a fan, Stu

Another No Stress entry in the series. After what they went through, can this be really a no stress story? Drama in this story line, which our characters handle without panic or showing stress. Enjoyable storyline, weather, characters, drama, etc. Read this series from the start.

Book 8 in the series

This book starts where the previous one ended. Rusty and the rest of the crew are at the mine to pick up the replacement crystal lens for the mothership tractor beam. That’s when the problems start. A great story.

Fine one day reads

In the style of Bob and Nikki, this series is a light hearted romp through space with a redneck and his alien wife and their friends. A great read when you yourself just want a smile on your face and nothing else to think about.
