Firstly I would to thank the wonderful Kris for the opportunity to read her book Steady Spark which is the third book in the Love On A Limit series. I loved this book. One minute I've just finished dinner and thought i'a read a few chapters before bed. Next minute my husband is telling me it’s 1 am and I have work in 5hours. I can't wait for more of this series.
Steady Spark follows Koby and Rayna. These two have been friends for A very long time. But life took them on slightly different roads. Fast forward one is divorced, one is processing life after there partner has passed away. Koby house has flooded so Rayna offers her spare room to him till his place is fixed. As they are now under one roof, both single. Feelings begin to stir, will they give or continue to bury them?
These two have a magical connection, there's greater banter, amazing growth, its emotional, found family vibes, swoon worthy mmc who will leave you in a puddle of goo, slow burn but once that spice drops on lord get ready 🥵

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️
“I would have been too embarrassed and ran. I’ve tried so hard to keep my feelings from you, Rayna. For all these years. But being here with you, I can’t run away and wait for them to subside before seeing you again. It’s been so hard not to reach over and…” “Do what?” “Do this.” His other hand snakes around my waist and possessively crushes my body into his.
“Rayna, every room I walk into, I look for you. Even if I know you aren’t going to be there. I’ll always be searching for you. I love you.”
With every book, Kris Monforte somehow raises the bar—and Steady Spark may just be her most emotionally powerful story yet. From the very first page, I was completely invested. The dedication alone set the tone and had my heart wide open before the story even began.
Rayna and Koby’s journey is layered, emotional, and deeply rooted in a shared past that adds so much weight to every moment between them. Their connection is raw, beautifully complicated, and entirely earned. I laughed, I hurt, I swooned—and I felt everything right alongside them.
Rayna is a strong, independent FMC navigating a stage of life where her body is changing and insecurities begin to creep in. Her struggle with not seeing herself the way she once did in her twenties is portrayed with such honesty and grace. Her journey is raw, relatable, and incredibly empowering.
Koby is the MMC who has loved Rayna since their twenties but never found the courage to tell her. When he introduced her to his friend, he truly believed he had lost his chance forever—and that regret lingers in the most heartbreaking way. His quiet devotion, emotional depth, and growth made him impossible not to love.
The character development, emotional tension, and undeniable chemistry kept me turning the pages nonstop. This story is heartfelt, gripping, and beautifully written, staying with me long after the final chapter.
At its core, Steady Spark is a story about second chances—reclaiming confidence as you age, rediscovering yourself, and finding deep, meaningful love with your best friend. It’s emotional, honest, and profoundly moving.
Another unforgettable read from Kris Monforte and an easy five stars from me. I cannot wait to see what she gives us next. ✨📚🖤
I have the two earlier books on my kindle but hadn't had a chance to read them but will definitely look at them now. This is book three in the Love on the Limit series set in the Australian motorcycle racing scene. Rayna and Koby are both managing their own teams but have been friends since university age. In fact they were best friends and might have been more if they'd had the courage to take the risk. Then Wesley came and swept Rayna off her feet and Koby moved on with Courtney and they both had families. Now Wesley is tragically gone and Courtney and Koby are divorced, Rayna and Koby are returning to their friendship. When Koby's house is flooded, it's natural for Rayna to offer a place to stay. The dynamic is bound to change when they are thrown together in the sort of intimacy living together provides. The story had a slow start with a long prologue detailing the events of the past when they first met. The romance itself is a slow burn with both of them reluctant to risk their rekindled friendship by asking for more. It was great to see their extended families both with business contacts in the weeks leading up to Christmas and in person, touching base with some of the protagonists from the previous two books. While I had no trouble following the story without having read the previous two, I would recommend it for a linear experience. Looking forward to more in this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Steady Spark is Book 3 in the Love On The Limit Series. This can definitely be read as a standalone as I didn’t even click it was part of a series until the last chapter. This book hooked me from the start and I absolutely loved the first chapter that gives you the back story with enough detail to understand the history between the main characters. It was really refreshing to see main characters closer to my own age over 40 and it was really relatable especially struggling with how the body changes from your younger self. There were some very clear favourites for me but I think my absolute favourite was how Koby looked after Rayna after she hurt herself, especially carrying her up the stairs I liked the dual POV in this book, as it really showed how both characters saw the same event from different perspectives. This book was a slow burn which fits in perfectly with the backstory and the history of the Rayna and Koby. I do have to say that I did not like the ending but I think this is because I haven’t read the first 2 books in the series so I was not aware really of who the other riders are so the ending just confused me. Overall, this was a great read and I am going to go back and read the first 2 books to see what I am missing out on.
Firstly I would like to thank @krismonforteauthor for this amazing opportunity to arc read Steady Spark the third book in the Love on the Limit series 💜. I loved every minute of this book and definitely stayed up way past my bedtime as it was just too good to put down.
These two have such a great magical connection and have found their way back to each other. Koby and Rayna have amazing growth, it's also emotional, found family vibes and definitely swoon-worthy with the slow burn that turns heated between these two best friends.
Firstly Koby and Rayna have been best friends for a very long time but with life things sorta go down different roads for them both. One is divorced, and the other has to process life without her partner that passed away. Fast forward to the present Koby ends up going back home finding that his place has been flooded and now has to find somewhere to stay and this is where Rayna comes in and offers him a spare bedroom till repairs are done. Little did they know living under the same roof would stir up some old feelings. Will they both give in or will they bury it?.
Paperback and ebook can be purchased on the authors store and will be available on KU in March.
I was lucky enough to BETA read this for Kris, and I cannot recommend this book and this series enough!
While you can read this as a standalone, I highly recommend checking out the first two books for some great character backstory.
In Steady Spark, the third book in the Love On The Limit series, Kris takes us on a deeply emotional ride that hooks you from the start. The story kicks off with a dedication that already gets your heart racing, setting the stage for Rayna and Koby’s journey.
Rayna is a strong woman facing the ups and downs of aging and the insecurities that come with it. Her struggles to see herself as she once did are relatable and hit home. On the other hand, Koby’s quiet admiration for Rayna has been there for years, but regrets from the past linger, making their connection all the more intense.
Together, they navigate the complex emotions of second chances and the deep bond they share. The chemistry between them is electric, making it impossible to put the book down. Steady Spark is an honest and heartfelt story about finding love, rediscovering yourself, and navigating life’s changes with your best friend by your side. You’ll feel every laugh and every heartbreak right alongside them.
This book was such a good read. I was sucked in from page one and was taken along for an emotional ride. Rayna and Koby went on a journey together in this book. They were the closest of friends in school and then life happens. Their past adds another layer to their current relationship. Their connection is raw and real. It’s not simple at all. Because when is life ever simple?! Rayna is strong and fiercely independent, even when she’s struggling with her very self - her body. Not relaying to yourself and your body like you did at one point in life is such a relatable topic. And this author handled it with such care and grace. It didn’t feel like a punch line or a flaw - it’s simply a reality. Koby is precious. He thought he had lost the woman he loved forever and it broke something in him. The growth and depth that we see from him is so endearing. You can’t help but love this man. This story kept me coming back for just one more chapter all night until I reached what I can only describe as mind bending ending. My mind is broken…I have to know what happens next!
I would like to thank Kris for this fantastic opportunity. I received this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.🖤🖤
I thoroughly enjoyed my first read from Kris. I appreciated that the main characters were older and more mature. Both having experienced love and loss, and are in the process of rebuilding their new norm.
Rayna offers Koby a place to stay after returning home from a trip, he found his house severely flooded and uninhabitable.
After years of drifting apart, can they repair their friendship or will it all fall apart?
Great 3rd book in a series but no need to read the first 2 first. ❤️friends to lovers ❤️second chance romance ❤️love over 40 ❤️workplace romance ❤️love after loss ❤️forced proximity ❤️Australian locations
Love reading a book set in Australia, Rayna and Koby were friends then married other people and drifted apart then they slowly come back together again when Koby needs a place to stay. Their old feelings (that none of them knew each other had) come back to the surface again. A sweet romance that I enjoyed reading.
From start to finish, I was completely hooked on Rayna and Koby’s story. Watching their relationship grow from friendship into something deeper felt natural, emotional, and incredibly satisfying. The slow build made their eventual coming together even more meaningful. Steady Spark delivers a heartfelt friends-to-lovers journey that kept me turning pages and left me smiling till the cliff hanger at the end!!
A sport I never thought I would read (motorcycles) but loved it.
Unrequited love, childhood friends to lovers, MMC and FMC in 40’s, sports romance, spicy, Australian setting.
This is book 3 in the series but now I need to go back and read the other 2. Kris has written this book so well I can’t wait to read more in the future.
This book grabbed me by the throat and squeezed my heart. From the dedication I was hooked. This book delves into the lives of Rayna and Koby. Best friends who grew apart but were always in each other's lives reunite.
Rayna is learning to cope and understand the changes in her body and life as she gets older. A widower who has lost her confidence, feels alone and wonders if she'll ever fall in love again. Koby is divorced and has reconnected with his best friend who he has loved always. He struggles to keep his emotions and feelings to himself. The banter and moments between Rayna and Koby are delightful. The slow burn is the *chefs kiss*
This is a book of self discovery, friendship, loyalty, family and love.
Kris you told this story so well, you tapped into the emotions that a lot of women go through as they get older and you make them feel loved, seen and heard. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read this. I cannot wait for more in this series.
This book was absolutely incredible! I loved that it was from the point of an older fmc, closer to my age! The health issues made her so relatable that I felt seen. it was refreshing to see! And the rekindling of friendship to more was even better. I definitely can't wait for the next book!
