Bulletproof Weeks

Rate this book
Being a famous rock star for almost two decades means putting his life on display. But for the last two years Logan King has dealt with the uglier side of fame. When his stalker escalates to issuing veiled threats against the first woman he's allowed in his life, Logan locks down and shuts Izzy out. His stalker isn't just anyone—she's as famous as he is with a financial reach that makes her infinitely more treacherous.

Falling for Logan King wasn't part of Isabella Grace's plans and their spectacular public breakup didn't make it easy to move on. Whispers and pitying looks from people in her small town send her fleeing from the first place that finally feels like home. Her solace becomes her travel for work, but the niggling sense that someone is watching her follows her from city to city. When she begins to unravel the secrets that surround the man she still loves, she discovers her personal security detail and demands answers. And they all point to Logan.

Letting him back into her life comes with many more challenges–and rewards–than she could've ever dreamed. But loving a man like Logan comes at a dangerous cost. One that has a lasting effect that could echo into all their tomorrows.

Logan and Izzy's story continues in this second book of the "When you're gone" series

description

It's been 6 months they were apart because Logan wanted to protect her and that what he still does. Nothing eventful happened but you are never too careful.

Bella on her side tries to life her life but if she has to admit she never really got over Logan. She is kept herself busy with work and doesn't want to think of something else... or better say someone else.
If I have to give a word to summarize the first part of the book, it would be: Honesty
When they meet again, Logan and Bella doesn't simply fall into each other's arms. Logan knows he has an explanation to give and he also knows Bella won't believe anything else than the truth... the whole truth.

At this point of the story, it felt like things were realistic between them. They have a conversation where they don't lie. Logan says he loves her but it felt right when he says it. And when Bella says she could have get over him at some point, I felt there were more to this story than romance. Because I think it could easily have fallen into a stupid love story and it's totally not the case here

description

Bella is tortured at first because she can get her mind off the fact he lied to her even if it was to protect her. She is also scared of the attention they could draw. She has the impression everything goes to fast with Logan

description

I loved the conversation she has with her best friend, Nic. While Bella is nothing but worried, her best friend is there to show another side of what Logan is and what he offers.
And so they start a life together. But is it really safe? Is the threat really gone?

description

I didn't give a higher rating for this book because I was wondering why their story was told in 3 books. I don't know how can I explain myself because I liked both books, the first more than this one but still Logan and Bella are great together and nothing is forced between them.

Their story is beautiful but I feel like book two is more a sort of transition and yeah I wanted more; more moments between them, more moments with Logan on stage and Bella backstage, more time to see their love grow.

And with that kind of ending all I want is book 3

It didn't seem fair that a week could do that much damage to her. That his touch had become a phantom tattoo with all the permanence that entailed.

Can you lose your heart to someone after spending just one week with them? One incredibly passionate, unforgettable week is all it took for Isabella to fall head over heels for the broody rockstar, Logan. What is it about Logan that made her fall as hard as she did?

That may have been it. But really it was his all encompassing presence that completely drew her in. But then he shattered her heart when he left her. But what Izzy doesn't know, is it broke Logan even more to do it. In order to protect her from his deranged stalker that fancies herself in love with him, he had to sever all ties with her. That doesn't mean he's let her go...not in his heart and definitely not from his mind.

It's been six months since that whirlwind week they spent together. Izzy is getting more and more successful business and tries to loose herself in the constant travel. When she notices someone watching her and figures out that Logan hasn't stopped thinking of her either, she's determined not to let him run anymore. Especially when she figures out the depth of his feelings.
He lived for the pain and the pleasure. And in the dark, where there was nothing but a tiny line of firelight in his room, he loved her with all that he had and finally felt alive.

As she slowly begins to unravel his secrets and Logan begins to open up to her more and more, the imminent danger draws near until it finally hits with a strike so devastating, you'll never see it coming. All I know is thank gawd that i have book 3 already because if I had to wait for it after that cliffhanger, I'm pretty sure I may have cut a bitch. True story.

Bulletproof Weeks was just as sexy as book one, but for me it also fell into that middle-book-of-a-trilogy-itis syndrome. What I mean is, there were certain parts of it that felts stretched out and slow going for me. I tend to prefer my stories with just a little more meat, which is why for some reason this happens to me with pretty much any middle book of a trilogy that I read. But that just may be my book ADD kicking in too.

While I want to say that it could have been done in 2 books, I can also see why their story needed this one. It was like the calm before the storm. It gave the reader a little more depth into both characters and to truly get invested in their romance. It may have been slow paced and stretched out at times, but let me tell you, that cliffhanger will leave you begging for the next book. Guaranteed.

4 "We fit..." Stars

When I read book one of the When You're Gone series one of my main reflections on the story was Taryn Elliott convinced me of the magic these two, Logan & Izzy, possess together. Bulletproof Weeks maintained this fact building upon the anguish of book one's end, picking up months later to reinstate the passion between these two characters.

The presentation of the heroine in this series holds as one of perseverance and gusto. Izzy is an independent woman focused on her work, scorned by the betrayal she felt when Logan dismissed her. Learning a secret truth about him she stops at nothing to find him exerting her fierce personality. She oozes honesty and I love that about her. She refuses to settle for anything less than the truth and gives the likeness in return. Logan King remains memorized by the fight in the feisty woman he can't stop thinking about. He's tortured by the security complexities of his fame and the utter despair he feels if can't protect Izzy. Persuaded by her forthright proclamation to live their lives they embark on another passionate journey to find peace for themselves. Just when you think their connection has been firmly rooted, Elliot finds a new way to take your breath away.

These two are surrounded by secondaries who spice the story up creating a fun atmosphere even when the threat of danger forces their hands. Wit, fun, and passion mingle together to make a love story worth reading about this troubles rock star and the woman who makes his blood sizzle.

Bulletproof Weeks leaves you turning the pages easily wondering the fate of these two people. Suspense, fun, and sarcasm provide a good reading ride and the ending leaves you wanting more of this story right away. Did what I think happen, really happen? Can one woman be capable of such destruction? Will these two lovers prevail unscathed? I'm excited to have started this series and wait in anticipation to read book three to find out how Logan & Izzy's journey will end.

The story continues with Bella and Logan still separate but the circumstances that bring them together was interesting and not protracted.

Here we get a chance to experience their romance and Logan finding himself in his music again. There's plenty of steam and sizzle but more of the dynamic of their relationship emerges. Always in the background, though, is the threat called Aimee.

It all ends on a serious, I mean huge, cliffhanger. It's also a shame that I must wait a couple of weeks to learn the outcome. To say more would be spoiler-ish and I'm beyond hooked on this series.

It’s heartbreaking, seductive and explosive, in that order. The continuation of the When You’re Gone series is addictive in the sweet and sultry persuasion of two people from different worlds that fit together perfectly and left me open mouthed with incredulity and wanting more.
“I’m a better man with you, because of you. We fit together. We make sense together.”

It’s been months since Logan’s worst nightmare manifested herself at the carnival, causing him a panic attack an Izzy more pain and humiliation than she ever thought possible. Leaving Izzy without explanation and letting her believe the lies the media has printed is what Logan believes is best for her, distancing himself and leaving him to bear all the burden of his demons. But even if he’s not physically present, he’s still keeping a worried and watchful eye on her.
“Those topaz eyes are my addiction.
Those topaz eyes are my destruction.
Topaz eyes, won’t you be my absolution?”

Isabella has poured all her hurt by the betrayal and embarrassment after Logan’s rejection into her work. She’s been building her business and traveling nonstop. But even amongst all her responsibilities, she’s smart enough to realize all is not what it seems.

When understanding comes, she demands full disclosure from her “most beautiful mistake” or will Logan ben her most beautiful decision? Can the overcome the half-truths and forgive the inflected wounds they’ve suffered? Can Isabella learn to handle a rock star’s lifestyle? Will Logan’s past came banging down on them?
“Your laugh. The way you toss zingers at me as if insults are fucking caresses. I ached for every word, every moan, every bust-my-balls comment, and every laugh. Even when you yelled at me in that barn. Dammit, Izzy. You’re everything I ever wanted. Strong, sexy, and God, yes, the most beautiful woman I’ve ever known. Or will ever know.”

Taryn Elliot’s ability to captivate me with her beautiful prose also made me believe that these two very different characters belonged with each other in Anything but Mine. Bulletproof Weeks continues with the suffering Logan and Isabella had to deal from their separation at the end of the previous book.

But then shows a very strong and determined Iz. I just love how she came barreling in, fits flying and insisting that he unearth his skeletons and tell her the entire truth.
“I’m such a bad bet.”
“Done feeling sorry for yourself?”
He jerked back. “What?”
“Are you done?”

Unbelievable. The woman was going to send him to the asylum. Christ. He stepped away from her.
She caught the tail of his shirt and dragged him back. “No. You’ve walked away from me enough for my taste, Mr. King.”

If I had previously felt her character was a bit flat, I had no problems with her fiery, live life to the fullest, and love with all your heart attitude here.
“This man that she’d never dreamed would be a part of her life had changed her on a fundamental level.”

With the threat still out there, and tormented by not being able to protect Izzy 100%, Logan will not deny himself the woman who has captured his heart any longer and I loved that he didn’t hesitate to tell her or show her in every aspect of their lives just how much she meant to him.
“He couldn’t ignore the power and passion of her. His body missed her like oxygen. As if it was just coming out of the stasis he’d been living in. He was starving for her.”

Their relationship builds and grows stronger and we get many fun, clever and sizzling hot moments with them. Holy swoonyness!
“Let’s go back to that part where you said you love me...”
“I love you, Isabella Marie Grace.”

She traced her finger over his soft lips. “Again.”
“I love you.”
She lowered her mouth to his. “Again.”
He slowly dragged his fingers up her spine, under the shirt. With his other arm, he settled her over his lap. “I love you.” Breath to breath, the buzz of his voice so close made her sigh. “Izzy, mine.”
Slower this time, with infinite care, he showed her just how much he’d missed her.

I also need to mention the supporting characters. I had enjoyed the outrageously flirty Zeke, Logan’s band mate and best friend before. But now I can’t imagine the story without him or the rest of All the King’s Men band, as well as Isabella’s best friend Nic. They are delightful additions who I hope to get more of.

Bulletproof Weeks kept me turning the pages with its skilful pace, a tortured hero and the woman that makes his blood come alive and sing and left me wanting to know what will happen next after its explosive ending.
“He kissed her like she was the very air he needed because she was. She was the wild freedom to the cage he’d been living in for so long.”

This is the second book in a series and should be read in order. As with the previous one, it’s told from both points of view and ends with an OMG cliffhanger.

** Full Disclosure: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review

What I enjoyed most about this book, is that it's got a solid plot with some HOT sex added in; it’s not a sex free-for-all book that tries to force a storyline in between the naked bits.

The story picks up a short time after the end of book 1, and shows Isabella living her life without Logan. She’s doing tons of traveling for work, burying herself in books so she doesn’t have to dwell on what could’ve been. Logan is going about his life as well, but he’s not that great at hiding his feelings. The band’s newest album is dark and angry and angsty, and even the album’s cover shows the broody Logan

The first few chapters reminded me of the start of a police thriller genre story (of which I am a huge fan) with that familiar face that you can't place, yet you see everywhere you go -- the "secret security" that SOMEONE hired for you -- loved it. That same feeling carried (for me) throughout the book, with the crazy stalker/fan bitch and the hard task Logan has of protecting himself and what's "his" from the unknown and unstable.

Seeing Isabella [trying to] move forward with her life wasn't nearly as satisfying as her confrontation and eventual reunion with Logan but I liked that she didn't let him off the hook and demanded answers, even ones he was uncomfortable giving. I was very glad to see that Taryn doesn’t fall into the I'll-make-you-grovel-for-seven-chapters-before-jumping-your-bones thing that many authors tend to gravitate toward when their heroes mess up.

Watching Logan and Isabella's relationship grow past the hot sex phase and into something deeper was lovely. Isabella's integration into Logan's life, including having his band-mates "adopt" her, was refreshing and felt natural. The pages just flew by as their combined story absolutely flourished.

Like at the end of the first book, this one ends in a cliffhanger. I actually gasped out loud when I read the final pages. Though I didn't see the exact events coming, I knew SOMETHING had to happen, but wasn't expecting what Taryn did.

I'm definitely looking forward to the final installment of the Logan and Isabella story coming out in March. I need to see the crazy stalker/fan bitch put in her place.

Even if you haven't read book one of this trilogy (Anything But Mine) you won't be lost -- there is enough information and backstory given in Bulletproof Weeks to catch you up without feeling like this book is a rehash, and reading this one first will make you want to pick up book one and see how the characters met.

Please be advised. If your version of the book ends at CHAPTER 12, then please have your file updated via Amazon. The book was corrected upon release day, so should only affect preorders. The book should end on CHAPTER 18. I'm terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

Taryn does it again. I LOVE her writing. She stays true to her characters, flaws be damned and I respect that about her. Logan and Isabelle are not perfect. They have their ups and some serious downs but they love eachother. Love is messy and sometimes full of stalkers and miscommunication. Love is also full of wickedly hot love scenes. Boy can Taryn turn up the heat with hers <3 I'm excited for the final installment. Down side? The darn wait!

I love this trilogy and the way that Taryn writes. This, the second book in the trilogy starts with Izzy discovering that she's being followed by security that Logan has put into place to protect her. She goes to him to confront him about it and their passion turns that anger into the kind of heat that Taryn excels in.

Wanting to live their lives on their terms gives them a second chance at happiness even with the crazy stalker chick actively after Logan. The way that Taryn plays this one out is both genius and insanely intense.

It is worth every second of the read and I will be counting down the seconds until book 3 hits the streets!

Another book where the second was not as good as the first. I got bored with the stalker plot, and didn't believe it!! I was also bored with the H/h. They were so good together, and HOT in the first book. This one not so much. This was a filler while we wait for book 3. I was really hoping for more, and of course it ended in a cliffy. After reading the first book I would have said I can't wait for the 3rd. After reading this one, I just don't know if I care enough about these characters to buy it and then have to read it.

Wow, A Mind Blowingly Romantic, Steamy & Explosive 2nd Book!!💕🔥💘🔥🙏💥
(Read using Kindle Unlimited)
Bulletproof Weeks: Rockstar Romantic Suspense (Winchester Falls Book 2)

After the terrible ending of their blossoming relationship in Book #1 we pick up with Izzy nearly 6 months later. She's dived into work to keep her heartbreak at bay, she's been crisscrossing the Country for book sales, auctions & deliveries. While stuck in an airport she notices a woman & realises she's seen her a few times over the few weeks. She dismisses it initially but then the woman dodges her & tries to change her look. The next time she spots her she confronts her. It comes to light she's one two security guards that are there as a protection detail.😱 No-one will tell why or who has put them in place, she resolves to find out!!😒

Logan King has been pouring his frustration, anger, pain & heartbreak out into the new songs he's writing for his hands next album. These are definitely grittier, more old style All The King's Men!🎤🎶🎸 The doorman rings up to tell him someone snuck through hiding in group of tenants. He's anticipating a zealous fan, it's a shock to his system when he opens the door & is punched in the face by Izzy!!👊🙈😂 She demands to why he's had security guards protecting for nearly 6 months & what exactly are they supposed to be protecting her from?😡 He finally comes clean about everything, his stalker & the veiled threat he'd made against Izzy.😱💔 He admits he only broke with her out of fear for her safety, explains the panics attacks & that's why he'd froze in the Park that day!😢 Then he tells her he loves her too much to risk her 😍💘 She calls him a lot of names & points out he had no right to take the choice away from her. They decide to spend some time together again!!🔥💘🔥

This is a full paced & steamy read. This couple come alive together.😍 The ending of this book is even more explosive than the last one!!😱💥

It's All About the Crazy

I have to admit that the only series I really got into was the Lost in Oblivion series. I haven't been that into any of the others. Until possibly now.

I think the romance, falling in love, and steamy stuff are...OK...but there's only so much variety one can get out of that. For me, the danger and suspense ratchets things up. The Winchester Falls series brings that.

Rockstar Logan King met and fell in love with Isabella Grace at the annual Summer Festival in Winchester Falls, NY. Of course, it couldn't just be that easy.

Logan's crazy ex/stalker, Aimee Collen, made veiled threats against Isabella (Bella to most, Izzy to Logan). Logan tried to push Izzy away... for her own good. There hadn't been any word from Crazy Aimee since Logan broke up with Izzy...but when Logan and Izzy find their way back to each other, danger finds them, as well.

Exactly how far is Aimee willing to go with her crazy? Can the extra security Logan hires keep Izzy safe? Will they get their HEA?

Not in this book. It ends on a cliffhanger.

The only negatives I find in this book are some typos, some odd phrasing...and I kinda got tired of reading about Logan's freckles...yeah, that's mentioned a lot... but I liked this book. I can't wait to read the last book in the series.

Book 2 in a 3 book series. I read this as "Torn" (not as the title above - Bulletproof Weeks).

If you read my review on book 1 (see below), you know I hate, hate, LOATHE cliffhanger books. But, because I loved the story of Logan and Isabella, I purchased books 2 and 3. Book 2 was great, which is surprising because usually book 2 is filler and fluff to get you to book 3. Still, only 4 stars because there's another cliffhanger (although I knew about it this time, so maybe 4.5 stars).

The story starts out with Isabella working herself into exhaustion in hopes to forget Logan. Logan has his own issues, but she confronts him after finding out he's hired security to follow her. They make up, and life is pretty quiet for the rest of the book. The romance progresses well, and there are some more hints at both backstories, but not a lot of drama.

The book "ends", however, with a huge cliffhanger, which means you need book 3 to even see if there's a HFN, not to mention a HEA. I'm hoping there are a LOT (and I mean TONS) of conflict resolutions in book 3.

O.M.G.

Well, it's official..these 2 lovely women are trying to kill me now. This is book 2 of this series and it was sad, full of regret on both sides in the minds of this separated couple. There are circumstances that put them back in touch and I was loving their angry but somehow sweet reunion. Together? For now? Forever? Could I hope for these soulmates to see the error of their ways? That remains to be seen.

Then, just when you think you have it all figured out, at least hope you do...BAM, the floor falls out from under you. I said NOOOOOO ladies, don't do this to me again. Don't break my poor heart again. Well, they did but I can only pray now that book 3, which I must read asap, will give it back to me. Angsty- yes, sexy and wow hot-hell yes and suspenseful- you bet it was. Tears at the end- of course! Cari and Taryn are one of the best writing teams out their in this genre..I can't get enough of them.

Rock Star Life

Someone got hurt! I just could not believe the ending!!

Book 2 picks up about 6 months after book 1 ends. Both Logan and Izzy are trying to get on with their lives. Eventually Izzy finds out about Logan’s secret and she is understandably pissed. Luckily she is so in love with Logan that they are able to work through their issues and try to live their life. But the shadow that is following them finally makes her move.

I felt for both characters in this book. Logan is trying to keep Izzy safe, and Izzy just wants to be with Logan without all the deception. She’s adapting to his lifestyle, getting along with his band mates, but she has to keep him a secret and it’s wearing on her. Then, when finally there’s light at the end of the tunnel, tragedy strikes.

I’m not sure I’m ready for the last book, but read I must.

Book 2 of Bella and Logan's story and like the first this has a cliffhanger, but while the first book's cliffhanger was a bit tame, this one will knock your socks off. Even knowing there was one, I couldn't have prepared myself for this ending. What a great story. Again, you are drawn deeper and deeper into the lives of Logan and Bella and the crazy stalker ex. This one was less about the chemistry (although they still have that) and more about daily life and romance. Great read!

Logan will protect Isabella at all costs. Isabella threw herself into her work to try to move on with her life. She is a very observant person. She discovers people watching her every move but why? She will find out who is behind it and why?

This story was amazing. The author draws you into the story. I feel for both Isabella and Logan. They both have their own baggage to deal with. I am excited to see how their story ends.

OMG!

This book...there is so much happening.
Logan thinks he can protect Izzy by staying away from her but that's not how love works.
Izzy is so feisty and determined in so many areas. Saying more would give out spoilers.
I smiled when I read "Deacon McCoy" and "Nick Crandall". I love those guys.
Aimee...you know she is going to pop up but when and where?
The ending of this book is a super dramatic cliffhanger and I need to start reading book 3 now. Sleep is overrated anyway.

OH MY!

This series is rocking! I am hooked! Logan and Izzy are great ❤️ together! The storyline kept me wanting to read "just one more page...and then another and another!" I love all of your books/series, but I have to say this is one of my favorites! I am hoping that all of the members of Logan's crew get their own story and HEA! I am sad that Izzy lost Nic and am hoping she gets through this and that the witch, putting it nicely, gets what she deserves!

Holy crap! I cannot believe it ended that way. Cliffhanger to beat all cliffhangers. Yikes. Things were going so smoothly, Bella and Logan had gotten a rythym going with their lives. The music festival comes around again and the bands who show up in support of the King Foundation are amazing. By the end, everyone is on tenterhooks. Aimee hasn't been spotted and anxiety is sky rocketing. She's been too quiet.

Gotta run, book 3 is waiting for me!!

Will they be able to live this love, free from any problem?

Good read but

Do like these authors but this three set book is drawing out a very long drawn story. Like the characters and it’s a good story but it’s too long. Yet another disaster and fatality ending on a cliffhanger. Worth reading but it’s not my favourite. Again three books too long for one couple.
