In the gripping sequel to Vanished, a global power rises, and the ancient prophecies of the Antichrist are set in motion.
Two years have passed since millions across the globe disappeared in a heartbeat including John "Haggs" Haggerty's own family. Haggs, a military expert in pandemics, warned his agency of growing patterns in deadly epidemics and other threats to security. Then the "Great Disappearance" and the nuclear destruction of the US changed everything. Now he is invited to join the powerful Trident Group, led by the wealthy Matthias Vilks.
Inside Trident, Haggs sees patterns that suggest a coordinated plan to control economies and governments. He is not alone. Israeli tech expert, Saul Katz, saw his colleague disappear before his eyes. Now the Israeli government confiscates his life's work, a defense system for Israel. Li Fan, monitoring seismic anomalies, sees terrifying signals in the earth's activity, but no one will listen to her warnings.
As the disturbing pieces fall in place, governments fall, and John and his best friend's daughter, Abigail, begin to see those prophecies from scripture come to life--Israel is in danger, natural disasters rake the planet, and world leaders bow to one powerful man. The signs are the end times are no longer approaching--they have begun.
New York Times bestselling author Dr. David Jeremiah returns with more apocalyptic action and emotion that's infused with his signature perspective and compassion.
Dr. David Jeremiah, founder of Turning Point Radio and Television Ministries and senior pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, felt God’s calling on his life at a very early age. Born February 13, 1941 in Toledo, Ohio, Dr. Jeremiah was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. At the age of eleven, Dr. Jeremiah and his family moved to Dayton, Ohio where his father, Dr. James T. Jeremiah, was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and in 1953 became the President of Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio.
As Dr. Jeremiah was sensitive to God’s leading in his life, he followed in his father’s footsteps. In 1963, Dr. Jeremiah received a Bachelor of Arts from Cedarville College. In that same year, Dr. Jeremiah married his college sweetheart, Donna Thompson who also was attending Cedarville College as a business major. He went on to earn a Masters degree in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967. He completed additional graduate work at Grace University and was granted the Doctor of Divinity degree from Cedarville College in 1981.
In 1969, Dr. Jeremiah began Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and developed a Christian school grades K through 12. In the 12 years he served as pastor, Blackhawk Baptist Church grew from 7 families to 1300 members. He also launched The Bible Hour television program.
Dr. Jeremiah heeded God’s call, and in 1981 he and his family moved to California where he became the senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church, now Shadow Mountain Community Church.
Shadow Mountain Community Church is one of the largest churches in San Diego County. It is also the home of Southern California Seminary and Christian Unified Schools.
As Dr. Jeremiah began his ministry at Shadow Mountain, he felt God’s calling to continue the broadcast ministry he started in Fort Wayne. In 1982, Turning Point Ministries became a reality.
Today, Turning Point's 30-minute radio program is heard nationally and internationally on over 1800 stations and translator/satellators. In recognition of Dr. Jeremiah’s commitment to teaching the Word of God, he received the Broadcaster of the Year Award in 1999 from the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), in August 2002, received the Award of Merit from the Western Chapter of National Religious Broadcasters for Excellence in Broadcasting and Faithfulness in Service, and in 2006 Turning Point received the Best Radio Teaching Program Award. Dr. Jeremiah has served on the Board of Directors for the NRB since 1996.
Turning Point launched a television program in 1982 in San Diego and went nationwide in 2000. Now seen around the world through cable and satellite technology, as well as on terrestrial stations all across the United States, conservative estimates suggest that close to 200 million homes around the world have access to Dr. Jeremiah's Bible teaching each week. Turning Point Television offers a half-hour Bible study message and a full hour worship service with the same great preaching. Carried on several national and international networks such as TBN, ION, and INSP, Turning Point Television has most recently been added to Middle East TV Network and BET, the Black Entertainment Network.
Dr. Jeremiah is a sought-after conference speaker for organizations around the country. He frequently speaks at Cedarville College, Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute, Billy Graham Training Center, Phil Waldrep’s Senior Adult Celebrations and numerous NFL, NBA and Baseball chapels.
Along with his speaking schedule around the country, Dr. Jeremiah also finds time to fulfill another passion in his life, writing. His books are always gripping and right to the point. Some of his books include Escape the Coming Night, The Power of Encouragement, What the Bible Says About Angels, Prayer The Great Adventure, which brought him The Gold Medallion Award in 1998, God In You, Gifts from God
In terms of an action-packed thriller, this book delivers, reading like a news report you wish you didn't have to see while weaving in biblical prophecy that warns of impending danger. For Christians, it's a sobering reminder of what can happen in our personal walk with God when complacency overrides discernment. Using examples from other nations where social currency is enforced, this post-Rapture setting takes it to extremes that somehow seem unbelievable and yet not entirely infeasible. It's a harrowing state to exist in and one that shows what a truly godless and corrupt world can look like when the fear of God is no longer prevalent or accepted.
I appreciate that those who have become believers in the new world express complex emotions, everything from regret that they did not turn to the Lord sooner to fear of what's to come as persecution ramps up to gratitude for knowing the Lord. Being able to understand the signs of the time from the Bible, these new Christians are taking to heart the hope that God will overcome everything that is happening. It is in this same vein that Dr. John Haggerty is presented as a very conflicted man trying to process further discoveries that make him question everything that he has known, allowing readers to work through the same moral quandaries. Readers who enjoy end-time prophecy will find Shattered to be a realistic and futuristic sequel that references many of this world's current issues of artificial intelligence, environmentalism, and totalitarian regimes while incorporating the biblical promises of God that He is always with us and that we can look forward to encountering Jesus, our Messiah.
I love stories of after the rapture. The main characters of Abigail and Hags are captivating. This was a story that I devoured. Looking forward to the next in the series. Outstanding narration. Highly recommend. Definitely read in order.
I was blessed with an ALC. Thank you NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction Audio. The opinions expressed are my own and unbiased.
Shattered" is book 2 in "The Vanished" series by Dr. David Jeremiah co written with Sam O’Neal. The series explores what may happen during the end times based on Biblical fact. Shattered takes up where Vanished left us, with the world still reeling from the Rapture. Ancient prophecies are happening and the Antichrist is growing his power.
The novel picks up from the Vanished with Saul Katz, a brilliant scientist. Saul finds his life transformed as he is chosen to be one of the 144,000 evangelists. Meanwhile, John Haggerty, also from book one, is on a path of vengeance. He holds the Antichrist, Matthias Vilks, responsible for the destruction of America as well as his own personal losses.
Dr. Jeremiah deals with faith and courage in a dark and desperate world where characters must rely on their faith to resist the forces of evil. In a haunting manner, readers are exposed to prophecy, betrayal, and hope for redemption. Scary and jarring is the Rise of the Antichrist depicted in a fictionalized account of how the Antichrist, a charismatic but malevolent leader, comes to power.
All this from the scholarly and renowned point of view of pastor Dr. Jeremiah. He has penned another thrilling page-Turner, giving readers a look into biblical end-times prophecy.
The co authors have blended captivating text into intense suspense all with biblical themes.
“Shattered" scheduled for release on June 16, 2026, is not a stand alone read so grab your copy of The Vanished to read prior in order to understand the full context of the story and the well developed characters.

I had tried to read the first novel of this series to get familiar, but because the book was more-so a thriller building up to the ‘rapture’ event at the end, I didn’t finish it. However, I didn’t feel lost at all when picking the story up from the second book. I have a lot of thoughts on this one.
My biggest gripe is that with a story focused on Biblical apocalyptic events, I felt it was odd to mash several prophet’s stories together as if they were all talking about the same event. It was a bit frustrating that prophecies in the old testament meant to point towards various wars, natural disasters, and societal collapses of *their* time is blended together and mashed up with Revelation (which has been argued to be political satire at Nero, but that’s for another time). Not that a story can’t remix Biblical stories to tell a unique story on its own, that’s happened thousands of times over, but if the book keeps presenting itself as Biblically accurate it’s going to have to have a strong argument drawing everything together. Simply put, I am not convinced.
The story focuses on a handful of different characters facing the unfolding of the Rapture events, as Vilks, the antagonist, ushers in the chaos. I thought some lines and scenes with Vilks made him a very interesting villain, but it’s quickly ruined when he pivots to do more extreme, almost cartoonish villainy.
Trident, the antagonistic corporation, is also a weird mix of a number of different things with little focus. In some scenes, they’re a giant corporation with a very prestigious global image. In another, they’re robe-wearing pagan-like cultists who run around shouting ‘Rape!’ at people who drop candy wrappers while talking about Mother Earth.
One particularly disturbing scene from the book is when Vilks orders a number of rabbis into a literal gas chamber, and one of Vilks’ underlings tries to justify this to another character by saying- "It's retribution, Dr. Fan. And it's a long time coming…We always contented ourselves with words. ‘Free Palestine’ ‘Globalize the intifada’ ‘From the river to the sea' But he…he's actually doing something" I want to, for a second, believe that the authors intended this to be that the villains of the story are appropriating these words, and not that the authors actually believe that ‘Free Palestine’ is a phrase asking for slaughter. Because there’s no other mention of Palestine outside of this, I fear the latter may be more true. If true, it leaves me quite disgusted.
The Jewish characters are also oddly handled. Saul is an openly Jewish man but his arc concludes when he accepts Jesus as a prophet (the internal conflict of the weight of Christianity being the ‘true’ religion instead of Judaism isn’t explored in this book). There’s also this weird back and forth of Jewish people being God’s people and used as tools to usher the Rapture, but also not enough to be taken to heaven when the Rapture happens. Jewish people are viewed by Vilks to be the opposition almost more than Christians, as much of his violence is directed at Jewish people.
In the same vein, one scene featured a Muslim woman praying over a dead body. Abigail, our Christian of the main cast, takes pity on the woman and the body before thinking ‘She keeps saying ‘Allah’…She’s calling out to God, but doesn’t know His name’. ‘Allah’ literally means ‘God’, and Muslims as well as Christians and Jews use ‘Allah’ when speaking Arabic. This is like saying Christians who say ‘God’ aren’t actually saying God’s name because the actual name is ‘𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄’. I know that might come across as pedantic, but this scene dismisses an entire character’s life and perspective by saying she’s not praying the right name, even if this is coming from a soft-hearted character.
Overall, I wasn’t impressed with the book. While featuring characters who are not Christian, these characters only serve as tools for a Christian narrative. Despite having a focus on Jewish characters, it’s painfully clear that they are written as fodder for Christian feelings rather than wrestle with a contending belief that contradicts Christianity at times.

Interesting and Compelling Fictional Account of End Times Events
Shattered, written by David Jeremiah along with Sam O’Neal, is the second book in the Vanished series. I’m familiar with Dr. David Jeremiah as a pastor and teacher. I’ve heard him preach and know about some of his theology books about the Bible. The first book in the series was Vanished and is about the rapture of the church and the events before and after the rapture.
Shattered continues the story of doctor John “Haggs” Haggerty and his best friend’s daughter Abgail Hart. Both John and Abigail had family and friends who were raptured, while they were left behind. Readers are also introduced to an Israeli scientist Saul Katz who, with his friend Caleb, had developed super computer that evil forces would love to get their hands on. Another interesting character was scientist Li Fan who was monitoring the increasing world-wide seismic activity that threatened to be deadly. She was desperate to make sure world leaders pay attention to her warnings. When millions of people suddenly vanished from sight there is bound to be a vacuum of government power and world leaders. Filling that vacuum is Matthew Vilks, leader of the powerful company the Trident Group.
In Shattered, the fictional characters who are experiencing the post-rapture and Tribulation events are woven together with events and people referenced Scripture. Since this is a fictional account of the Tribulation post rapture, readers who have read the Bible will find a few people that are referenced in Scripture, like the Two Witnesses, the 144,000, the anti-Christ and the false prophet. I found myself looking back a Scripture to see if things were lining up with what the Bible says about these End Time events. Keeping in mind this is a fictionalized account and there are various views on the events and timing of things that will take place in the End Times.
I found the characters of John, Abigail, Li, and Saul interesting and what they were going through captivating. I liked John and was hoping and rooting for his character to pick a side, hopefully the right one. For Abigail to develop a well secured computer system that would enable new Christian believers to communicate with one another around the world, she would have to be a very intelligent person. But her character didn’t come across that way. I would have like to have seen Li more developed. Saul didn’t match what I would have expected for someone who might be one of the 144,000. Since the 144,000 are devoted to the Lord and will boldly proclaim the Gospel of Christ, I was expecting someone a little different. Perhaps these characters will be further developed in the next book of the Vanished series.
This is a fictionalized account of some what the Bible reveals will take place at the End Times. Shattered ends with a cliff hanger and the story and characters will likely pick-up in the next novel in this series, when things will only go from bad to worse.
As a Christian, I found this fictional account of the post-rapture Tribulation times very weighty. It’s hard to imagine what our loved ones who don’t know the Lord may experience after the rapture of the church. It was interesting to see how various elements of the Tribulation were depicted and incorporated things we’ve seen in recent years. Things like drones and pandemics.
If you read the Bible and find End Time prophesy fascinating, you may find Shattered by David Jeremiah and Sam O’Neal an interesting read.
I would like to thank Thomas Nelson Fiction and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of Shattered by David Jeremiah and Sam O’Neal. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review.
This book picks up two years after book one, Vanished. If you haven’t read that yet, stop now and go read it to understand what is happening here. This story is mostly told from four points of view: John Haggerty, a doctor and former military man who is the last remaining member of his family after the Rapture; Abigail, the daughter of John’s best friend who is also the last of her family and the creator of The Worldwide Way, a website for Christians; Saul Katz, an Israeli who created an AI defense shield; and Li Fan, a seismologist who can’t get anyone to listen to her warnings. Only Abigail has become a Christian since the Rapture.
This is a novel about the end times, following closely to events described in the Christian Bible, mostly in the book of Revelation. It is God’s judgment on wickedness, offering people one last chance to turn to Him before time comes to an end. Neither this book nor Revelation are happy books. Shattered puts faces and personalities to people who will suffer during the seven year Tribulation that begins at some point after the Rapture and ends with the Second Coming of Christ. Book two takes place basically through the first half of the Tribulation.
This is a warning to those who continue to reject God, who refuse to believe what is right in front of them. It is a plea to repent and let Jesus in. This book ends with a doozy of a cliffhanger, but if you want to know how it ends, Revelation is the last book of the Bible. If you are interested in diving deeper, David Jeremiah has a Jeremiah Bible Study Series that includes a study of Revelation.
Shattered is a great book that I really enjoyed. I would recommend it to lovers of eschatology, apocalyptic fiction, and the Left Behind series.
Family friendly but the horrors of the Tribulation might be too scary for young readers.
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I want to start out by writing that I have read Vanished by Dr. David Jeremiah with Sam O' Neal. It is the first book in The Vanished Series. I recommend reading that book first. Shattered can be a read alone, but it will make more sense reading them in order of publication. I want to thank Thomas Nelson Fiction for my advanced reader's copy of the book which I received through NetGalley. This is my own reaction and opinion of the Shattered. My first reaction was to feel the need to 'cross reference' things with my Bible if I didn't recognize anything in the Revelation points being made that I have learned about over decades of sermons and scripture reading. Shattered is the continuation of the story of what it could be like for non-believers who are not taken when the Saviour, Jesus Christ comes. With such a massive vanishing of humankind the psyche certainly needs the 'leaders' to explain the "great disappearance" which over time easily slides into the "Great Disruption." John Heggerty, military man, world-renowned doctor, is still a non-believer even after losing his wife, daughter and best friend who all tried to reach him. The Trident Group is a powerful force in the world now that the U.S. has been destroyed (Vanished) and John has his life in its grip. His best friend's daughter, Abigail is in the grip of what she has experienced and realizes how important faith in God is now. One more character is coming into the picture, a Jewish scientist, Saul Katz, that God has a special mission for. Readers start seeing the real meaning of the 144,000. Swirling around all of this mess and soon to be chaos is the Antichrist. You had to know he was stepping forward. My opinion is that Shattered is more intense and an all-around better read than Vanished. Things are intensifying. I will definitely read the third book in line. For those who wonder; does this series compare to the older popular Left Behind series. I honestly can't make that decision yet.
I'm hoping that some believers can read this book and finally realize that what happens after the great disappearance is not going to be experienced by those who leave this place during the "Rapture".
Shattered is book 2 in The Vanished series, an end time thriller. It picks up about 2 years on from the end of book 1 and the rapture and covers approximately a 2 year time period. “The time has come to pick a side.”
We follow John Haggerty (from book 1) as he navigates his feelings about the rapture along with his desire to be doing his life's work. He comes to realise he is at the mercy of the rulers and that in the future there are only two sides to choose from - but can he make a decision?Angela, who relies on John for protection, knows whose side she is on and works behind the scenes to set up a support network for Christians. As the times become darker she battles with fear and frustration with John that he cannot make a decision about who he stands for. We are also joined in this book by Saul, an Israeli scientist and Li Fan, a seismologist, who both bring different perspectives to the story.
What I most enjoyed about this story is the underlying biblical prophecy used and explained throughout. It does remind me of the 'Left Behind' series but I think brings a more grounded view of the events looking at scripture as a whole. The story is complex and covers a dark period of time. The second half of the story becomes much more intense as the pressure builds and you really don't want to put the story down. I found there were themes around faith and courage, blindness and indecision and lots of thrills and guessing along the way. The story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and I want to read book 3 to see how it all concludes. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Shattered is the gripping second installment in the Vanished series—a fictional yet biblically grounded exploration of the end times. The story opens in the immediate aftermath of the Rapture, picking up seamlessly where book one left off. John Haggerty, a doctor introduced earlier in the series, is consumed by grief and vengeance after losing his entire family in the Rapture. Although many know that only Christ-followers disappeared, a growing movement now claims the event was nothing more than the result of a new global pandemic. Caught in his uncertainty, John finds himself working alongside the self-proclaimed Anti-Christ. Saul Katz, a scientist also left behind, undergoes a profound transformation and joins the rapidly expanding group of new evangelists. Meanwhile, Abigail Hart—who lost her husband and infant son—never doubts what caused the “Great Disappearance.” She has built a thriving underground network of believers who are courageously spreading the truth. This fast-paced, compelling story blends faith, courage, and the eternal battle between good and evil during the perilous days of the Tribulation. It’s an absorbing continuation of the series and a powerful reminder of hope in the darkest times. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are my own.
What??? This is completely unfair. I cannot sit still and wait for the next book in this series!
I did not see that ending coming. I won’t spoil anything, but the book ends on a major cliffhanger, and now I’m left completely on edge waiting for what happens next.
Beyond the suspense, this book also made me pause and reflect on my own life and where I stand in relation to the Rupture. It deepened my understanding of Scripture and highlighted details in the Bible that I hadn’t fully noticed before.
What impressed me most was how vividly the characters’ emotions came across. Through Haggs, Abigail, Li Fan, and Saul Katz, I could feel the confusion, uncertainty, grief, embarrassment, and fear as though I were experiencing those moments alongside them. Their reactions felt human, which made the story’s larger spiritual themes even more powerful.
I also loved seeing biblical concepts and prophecies brought to life in such a vivid way. The book balanced action, emotion, and spiritual reflection remarkably well.
Even though the suspense kept pulling me forward, I slowed down and took my time with this one, and I’m glad I did. It gave me a lot to think about.
Highly recommended!
Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the complimentary copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
Just finished reading this one. A very different read outside of my comfort zone for sure. I liked it ok Sounds like a very scary world after the rapture. I'm glad I won't be here for that. Lots of action going on that kept me turning the pages. I did like that about this book. Its like the Left Behind series and I'll be honest I did like this story but Left Behind was better. There were some twists and turns that I never saw coming. Some had me looking over my shoulder to see what was behind me. Some parts were kind of boring so I skipped over those. But otherwise it was an interesting tale of what might happen after the Rapture. I will say that I might be surprised and lost like Saul when his friend disappeared. I couldn't imagine what that might be like. One minute there and gone the next and you're still there. No way! I'll be gone up. I don't want to stay and see what happens!! 4.5 stars for keeping me interested all the way through. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review. I was NOT required to write a positive review .all opinions expressed are mine.
SHATTERED is the second novel in the Vanished series by DR DAVID JEREMIAH and I can’t wait for the next one! It is an exciting and gruelling read as we see the rise of the Antichrist and False Prophet, who use the Trident group to control those who have been left behind after the Rapture of the church. We also see the minitry of Abigail Hart and the World Wide Way, which consists of like-minded believers, as opposed to her “Uncle” John Haggerty, a doctor who joins the Trident Group and is caught up in a world of lies. There is also Saul Katz, who has become a believer in Yeshua, to name a few of the characters. …… The author is a well known Bible teacher who is well versed in End Time prohecy, and the story is totally based on the truth of God’s Word. The book is full of relevant verses, mostly from Daniel and Revelations, which help us to understand the coming horrors of the Great Tribulation. I cannot recommend this brilliant book strongly enough. I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Thomas Nelson. The opinions in this review are completely my own.
Shattered in the second book in Dr. David Jeremiah and Sam O'Neal's end time series. I highly recommended the first book when it came out last year. Shattered, not so much so. If you read Vanished, I would suggest you go ahead and read Shattered because the story as a whole remains interesting. It's some of the details in this book that has me lowering my star count. There was so many times I stopped reading to explain to my husband why something I just read was not logical or that it just struck me as off. So, that annoyance factor was high, but as I said, the series' story as a whole is interesting. The first book takes place leading up to the Rapture. This second book occurs leading up to and just past the halfway point of the Tribulation. I am hoping that the next book in the series is more like Vanished than it is like Shattered, focused and with characters acting in a reasonable manner based on the circumstances.
I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Shattered from Thomas Nelson via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.
A big thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, the second installment in the Vanished series.
Other reviewers have submitted extensive synopses, and I will not repeat their efforts here. But I am reminded that two of the main characters, a doctor named John and his niece Abigail (who runs a very secret online social site whose users have come to believe in Jesus) both lost their entire families at the "great disappearance," more familiarly known as the Rapture. In this book we see the antichrist take the stage, as well as the Two Prophets and the beginnings of the 144,000 evangelists. These events are very familiar to me as I have read a lot about the End Times.
I will not "spoil" the ending of this book, which takes place near the events that happen halfway through the 7-year Tribulation. I will be interested to read the next installment to see what the characters do as life on earth becomes more and more difficult.
"Shattered" is the second thrilling book in Dr. David Jeremiah's " Vanished Series". It opens two years after the global disappearance which resulted in the disappearance of John "Haggs" Haggerty's wife and daughter and the nuclear destruction of the United States. Joining the Trident Group, Haggs, a military pandemic expert uncovers a sinister plot by its leader to control the governments of the world and is forced to decide where his allegiance lies.
Fast-paced and exciting the action never stops as Haggs struggles to protect his best friend's daughter; stop the destructive use of an Israeli defense system program; and support the scientist who is predicting seismic anomalies that are bringing about the earth's instability.
Well-written and riveting this action -packed thriller couples Bible Prophecy with global current events. It is a must read not just for Christians who believe in end time prophecy, but those that love a realistic, riveting thriller.
I enjoyed the first book in this series. But this book is even better. I was hooked from the first page.
The rapture has happened, and people are seeing the world change and become unrecognizable. No one knows what’s good or bad. No one has real answers. John’s non-biological niece, Abigail, has the answers from the Bible, complete with a timeline. Together and apart, they fight for survival and knowledge.
I listened to this book in one sitting. I love prophesy, and putting it to fictional characters is amazing. I also enjoyed following John as he saw truth unfold in front of him. I’m excited about the next book in the series! I loved all 16 books of the Left Behind series, and I am loving this series, too. I could use less cliches, though.
I received this ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.
This is a page turner. I liked it more than I did the first book even though the first book was also very good. We see what it might look like for those who are left behind after the disappearances. What feelings, choices, and situations will these people face? Will scientists continue to rely on their theories? Will people seek vengeance and to whom? There is a lot of courage displayed in the characters and there is a haunting quality in those who choose to side with evil. I would recommend this read to anyone who is studying the books of Daniel, Isaiah, and Revelations and wonders what it might look like.
#ShatteredANovel #TheVanishedSeries #NetGalley #ThomasNelsonFiction Thank you to Thomas Nelson Fiction for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
“The time has come to pick a side.” Characters old and new come together to create a vivid picture of what the tribulation could look like with the technology and knowledge we have in today’s world. The beginning was a little slow and wandering, but increasing action kept me turning pages. The second half was impossible to put down, while the ending left me so stunned I read it more than once. I definitely cannot wait to see what the next book holds. I need to know what happens! A spectacular series from Dr. David Jeremiah! *I received a complimentary copy of this e-book courtesy of the publisher through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Shattered is a fast-moving suspense novel that pulls you in with a strong sense of urgency from the start. David Jeremiah keeps the tension steady, weaving together mystery and danger in a way that makes it easy to keep turning pages. The story has that classic thriller structure, with twists and escalating stakes that keep everything moving.
What stood out most to me was the underlying message threaded through the action. Beyond the suspense, there’s a clear focus on faith, resilience, and how people respond when their lives are suddenly turned upside down. It’s an engaging read if you enjoy faith-based thrillers with a strong moral center and plenty of momentum.
I won this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway. I read the story and then sat on it for a little while thinking on how I was going to review this. I feel like you can pick this book up without reading the first in the series although I’m sure reading the other book first would help with understanding the storyline. I honestly wasn’t a fan. I can see why other readers enjoyed this story but to me it felt judgmental in parts and I was hoping (maybe even expecting) something completely different. I was hoping for more of a Left Behind feel but instead I was given something else and that’s on me for having those expectations.
If you enjoyed the Left Behind (2000) series, this is a must-read. It’s all that fuel, with a very modern political spark. BAM! A masterpiece.
So, I’m currently reading it and will probably finish it soon. Without the previous book to compare it with, I can still confidently say that, halfway through, this is—so far—top, top notch. I get the feeling I’m watching an action-packed film by the way David Jeremiah conjures up the images in my mind. Whether you’re into Christianity or not, the writing and storytelling are extremely interesting. If you are someone who believes the Bible, this will surely be an epic ride.
I had been looking forward to reading this book since I finished the first one in the series last year and it did not disappoint. The plot is too close for comfort with all that is going on in the world. The Rapture or Great Disappearing has happened and the Rise of the AntiChrist is happening. This is a page turner and you will want to make sure you have read the first book in the series before this one to give you the background details on what is happening. Looking forward to what comes in the next book!
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this in advance.
Rounding down to 4.5 stars. Really excellent. I don’t think it’s quite as good as book one and it starts a little slow. Also, that cliffhanger ending really bugs me. How long do I gotta wait for book 3 now!? I really dig how this story is written and told. It’s just really engaging and honestly I feel like it’s very realistic. I could see these events playing out in reality very similar to this. I’m really eager for the next book. I don’t know how many there are going to be in the series because we keep time jumping quite a bit. Hopefully at least 2 more books.
This is the second installment in “The Vanished” series by this author. While I have not (though I now plan to) read the first book, this is a well written account of the state of the world after the rapture. It is time for the left behind to choose a side as the anti-christ rises to rule the world.
Disclosure: I received this book free via NetGalley. The opinions I have expressed are my own, and I was not required to write a positive review.
I really enjoyed this book; it was even better than the first one. It’s about the first half of the 7 year tribulation. Very suspenseful, full of the unexpected, even though you half-way know what’s going to happen, if you have read Revelation. Definitely a work of fiction, it kept me on the edge of my seat! Can’t wait for the next one!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. This is the second in a series and details what happens after the Rapture of the Church. Such a scary time. He brings the end times to life in a very real way. Hopefully there's another book coming.
This is an excellent continuation of the novel Vanished. Tribulation is described believably; the characters are relatable. Great storytelling about the things to come. I'm looking forward to the next part of this great series.
This was far more immersive than the first book and was hard to put down at times. The plot is awesome! I do feel Abigail lacked depth and a grown woman calling her father “daddy” is disturbing.
