I was grateful to receive an ARC through NetGalley ahead of publication. This was a joy to read, and the following thoughts are my honest review:

This is a beautifully written and thoughtfully curated collection of wisdom, practical insight, and most importantly, timeless encouragement for nurturing your soul, your marriage, your family, your friendships, and living a Spirit-filled, grace-filled life.

As I read, I kept coming back to the familiar words of C.T. Studd that Simons quotes: "Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last." Those words capture the very heartbeat of this book. Every page gently points the reader back to Jesus, calling us to live intentionally with greater presence and purpose. It reminds us that there should be a meaningful "why" behind both what we choose to pursue and what we choose to put aside.

Some of these ideas are simple—even common sense—but they are not always common practice. This book never overwhelms with complicated "Christianese". Instead, it communicates profound truth with simplicity, beauty, and grace.

I especially loved the artistry woven throughout every page. The hand-painted artwork, stunning photography, carefully chosen Scriptures, memorable quotations, and thoughtful reflections create countless meditative moments that invite you to slow down, savor God's presence, and abide in Christ.

What I appreciated most was the tone. There is no shame or condemnation here—only the hope of the Gospel. It gently invites rather than imposes, encouraging instead of pressuring, and reminds us that lasting transformation comes through God's grace, not through our striving.

Every believer would benefit from reading this book, but I truly believe these pages will be life-changing for many. Because it is centered on Jesus rather than passing trends, it is a book that will never go out of style.

Thank you for creating a timeless, Gospel-centered treasure that readers will return to again and again. It is a much-needed reminder that a life intentionally lived for Christ is always a life well lived.

P.S. - One of my favorite surprises was discovering the little treasures sprinkled throughout the book—delicious recipes, thought-provoking reflections, conversation starters, practical lists, and creative ideas for cultivating meaningful moments and memorable gatherings. This book is not only a delightful, easy read but also an invaluable resource to return to because truly...this moment and every moment matters!

Ruth has done it again. This book not only displays her beautiful watercolor but also photography. I had the immense privilege of being on her launch team for this book.
This book is different than any other she’s written. It’s so personal like she’s invited us into her home. It’s practical and speaks specifically about how we can make every moment in our lives matter. Ruth doesn’t pretend to have it all together but shares through her own experiences. So many good tidbits.
I plan to purchase many copies of this book for the women in my life. It’s a great book for women of all ages. I highly recommend it.

This Moment Matters is such a beautiful, beautiful book. It's one of those books that makes you want to settle into your favourite chair with a drink you enjoy and simply savour every page instead of rushing through it.

At its heart, this book is an invitation to slow down and live intentionally. Ruth Chou Simons gently reminds us that our lives are made up of ordinary moments that become extraordinary when they're lived coram Deo—before the face of God. Rather than striving for productivity or perfection, she calls readers to pursue faithfulness, cultivate the fruit of the Spirit, and notice God's beauty in the everyday.

What I appreciated most is how practical the book is. It isn't simply inspirational; it's full of reflection questions, prayers, habits, and small practices that encourage you to grow in your walk with God. From renewing your mind with Scripture to cultivating gratitude, creating margin, stewarding your home, resting well, and investing in relationships, every chapter offers tangible ways to live with greater purpose and joy.

That said, I don't think this is a book to rush through. Reading it cover to cover in a short time—or even trying to complete one chapter every week—could feel overwhelming because there are so many ideas to put into practice. I think it's best read slowly, allowing yourself time to reflect and adopt one or two rhythms before moving on. The beauty of the book isn't in checking off every suggestion; it's in letting God slowly produce fruit in your life and learning to notice the small sprouts of growth along the way.

One small drawback for me was that many of the examples and applications revolve around marriage, children, and family life. If you're single or not in that season of life, some sections won't resonate as deeply. They can still be appreciated, but they may not be savoured in quite the same way as they would by someone who shares those experiences.

Overall, I found this book deeply encouraging and full of wisdom. It's for anyone who longs to treasure life instead of rushing through it, who wants to live purposefully, beautifully, joyfully, and with God at the centre of every ordinary moment. More than anything, it reminds us that faithfulness isn't built in grand gestures but in the countless small moments that, over time, become a life well lived.

This is the kind of book that you want to have on your coffee table or bookshelf to reference often. This Moment Matters is divided into six parts.

The first part is titled Looking to Jesus, and the author has provided 21 ways to turn our hearts to Jesus, along with practical tips for putting these things into action. The second part is titled Cultivating Delight. In this section, the author provides 19 different activities that one can partake in to help cultivate delight in the Lord. The third part is titled Embracing Simplicity, and it offers 14 different ways one can create margin in their life, as well as tips on how to simplify daily living. The fourth part is titled Taking Care of Yourself, and it offers 13 ways to care for yourself while pointing your heart to Jesus. The fifth part is called Creating a Haven, and it offers practical recipes and ways to make the space you live in enjoyable. The sixth and final part is called Investing in Your People. It offers 17 different ways to invest your time and yourself in those who matter most to you.

This book is filled not only with Ruth’s beautiful illustrations, but also with many beautiful and colourful photographs. This is the kind of book that you would want to reference often because there are so many thoughtful nuggets that one could not possibly remember them all in one reading. I can see myself buying this book and using it often for inspiration when I’m in a slump.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

I had the privilege to read an advance copy of This Moment Matters before it was published.

This Moment Matters is one of those books that gently invites you to slow down and take a fresh look at the life God has already placed in front of you. Ruth Chou Simons has a beautiful way of reminding us that the ordinary moments we often rush through are the very places where God is at work.

As I read, I found myself reflecting on how easy it is to focus on what’s next instead of being fully present in what’s right now. This book encouraged me to be more intentional with my time, my home, my relationships, and, most importantly, my walk with the Lord. It isn’t about striving to do more—it’s about faithfully embracing the moments we’ve been given.

Ruth’s writing is full of biblical truth, encouragement, and practical wisdom, and her artwork is simply beautiful. Together, they create a book that’s both inspiring and deeply encouraging.

This isn’t a book to race through. It’s one to linger over, highlight, and come back to again and again. I closed the final page with a renewed appreciation that the moments that seem small or ordinary often matter most in God’s kingdom.

I’m so thankful I read this book, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to live with greater intention and see God’s faithfulness in the everyday.

Early digital reader copy through NetGalley

I've read and appreciated several of Ruth's previous books. They've been gospel-centered devotionals and Bible studies filled with her nature-based watercolor artwork that truly captivates.

This newest book is born from Ruth's desire to have us over, in a sense, and answer questions like,

How do we look to Jesus everyday?
How do we cultivate delight in our home and family?
How can we embrace simplicity?
How can we take care of ourselves well- and why should we?
How can we create a haven for our families, friends and guests?
How can we invest in our people well?

Every section of the book is filled with Ruth's answers to those questions, distilled for us in rich, short sections filled with engaging photos, new things to try, and reminders of why we do what we do. I guarantee it'll be one to reference many times when you need a trusted opinion on the practical facets of life, and when you need the reminder of the why behind all that we do- to love God and love His people.

I received this book courtesy of NetGalley for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

Overview: Does it seem hard to find out what God wants from you? Are you already tired of trying to fulfil both the Proverbs requirements for the perfect woman, and the secular demands on your life? How do we make this a more peaceful life? Mrs. Simons seems to have an answer. This book offers one hundred ways to live a grace-laced life. Does it work? Let's find out.

Likes: This is a beautiful book. Mrs. Simons does practice what she preaches with her style.

We have several different sections that these articles fall under.

We get full page photos and suggestions for Bible study. There are quite a few recipes as well.

Conclusion: This was a great book. If you need a new devotional/self-help book, then this book is for you.

I enjoyed the suggestions in this book and the short sections that you can pick up and read in a minute or two. While it is meant as a coffee table style book where you can pick what “speaks” to you in the moment, it is hard to stop at just a couple! I found myself reading on and on. I couldn’t get enough and didn’t want the sections to end! Ruth Chou Simons has always focused on living a life centered on the Grace of God and Jesus and this book continues that theme in a new and unique way. It reminds the reader that living a “GraceLaced” life can happen in the everyday moments. When you act with intention you honor God and His grace finds you there. The book is filled of images from Ruth’s home and family and they are lovely. I would encourage you to pick up this book and find what moves you.

This Moment Matters is one of those books you’ll want to leave out where everyone can see it. The pages are absolutely beautiful, making it the perfect coffee table book, but it’s so much more than pretty. Each reading is a gentle invitation to slow down, be present, and intentionally make room for God in the middle of everyday life. In a world that constantly pushes us to do more, this book reminds us that there is beauty in simplicity and that the moments we often overlook are the very places where God is at work. It’s peaceful, encouraging, and a wonderful companion for anyone longing to quiet the noise and savor God’s presence.

While a lot of the concepts aren't entirely new, the execution is wonderful. The ideas, particularly the insights on cultivating deeper, more intentional relationships, serve as fantastic daily reminders. A lovely addition to her collection!

Ruth has put out another book full of practical and biblical wisdom. This book is very easy to read with short entries on a variety of topics. I have enjoyed the very simple but practical steps on how to care for my soul and my home. As always, the artwork and photography are beautiful. I love the practical steps on "Declutter your heart" and then moving into "How to Declutter your home." This is the biblical order in which we deal with things, first in our heart and then our actions. I love the fun stuff too! There are recipes and clothing ideas for everyone!

This book is fabulous. Ruth not only gives you decorating tips, hints for impromptu snacks, and recipes, hints for more in depth bible study alone or in a group or finding a mentor. She also painted all of the art in the book and gives us style tips, wardrobe and accessory guidelines and then tops it off with self care topics. Ruth is fantastic in giving us a spiritual guidance in each chapter also. Because self care and caring for others also needs to have a healthy dose of God along with it. Without God along side me I am nothing. Thank you Ruth for this book.

I am really enjoying this book. I love how Ruth has created such a beautiful book. Each section is filled with practical advice about how to take the time and enjoy this life God has given us. From the practical applications about decluttering, to the more spiritual topics of having a space to memorize scripture. This book has it all, spiritual and practical ways to make our moments count. I love that reminder. As with all of her books, they are so aesthetically pleasing. The artwork and photographs are lovely. I definitely recommend this book! Beauty and great content!

A gorgeous book that could bring beauty to your home as a fixture on your coffee table or as an inspiration in delighting in the everyday moments God has blessed you with. Often we get stuck in the mundane, the ordinary everyday moments, but This Moment Matters. Again Ruth blesses us with practical resources for finding the beauty that surrounds us, for optimizing our time with family, for delighting in the home we have and many more. I will reference this book often and love that I can simply read the one resource that inspires me that day.

All these goodies in one place, and from my favorite author, no less, is too good to be true!!! I have been following Ruth from her very first book, and she has never disappointed, no matter what form she takes on, whether it’s a devotional, a Bible study, or serious book about her life, etc. This book is no different. May God continue to bless her and her ministry, and protect her heart and mind so she can continue to serve Him in such an amazing capacity.

Ruth's artistry and creativity points the reader to our Creator. Through devotions, checklists, how-tos, and various modes of art, she helps the reader discover ways to make the most of each day in light of God's grace. It's a beautifully crafted book! I would have loved to see more Scripture woven into the content of this book; however, it isn't necessary given the multiple modes Ruth uses.

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
