The Marked: Forsaken Blood by Addie Rue is a dark, engaging fantasy with a strong sense of atmosphere and a compelling overarching story. The writing itself is polished, with very few errors, which made for a smooth reading experience overall.
The story follows a large ensemble cast and uses frequent POV shifts within chapters, with each shift clearly labeled. While this approach adds depth and variety to the narrative, it did take a bit of extra focus at times to keep track of whose perspective I was in—especially early on, given the size of the cast. Once I settled into the structure and became familiar with the characters, the story flowed much more smoothly and kept me invested.
Readers who enjoy multi-POV fantasy, layered character dynamics, and immersive worlds will likely appreciate this style. Overall, a solid and engaging read, and I’m glad I picked it up.
