Maplewood Falls #2

The Realtor Disaster

Becca Hartwell has her life together.
Or… okay, she had her life together.

She’s Maplewood Falls’ go-to realtor, local golden girl, and the proud owner of the world’s most color-coded planner. Confidence? She has it. A plan? She always has one.

Until she takes on selling the town’s most notoriously unsellable property.

Suddenly she’s dealing with, a house that creaks and possibly haunted, a neighborhood watch group with too much time on their hands, and the man who once broke her heart offering to “help”.

Becca does not need help.
Becca especially does not need him.

But Maplewood Falls is small… and the universe has a questionable sense of humor.

Now she’ll have to decide whether holding everything together is really worth keeping everyone out.

A warm, funny small-town romantic comedy about second chances, stubborn hearts, and the real meaning of home.

Give me this book 3 stars is very generous. I almost could not finish it. Once again, there was just way too much internal monologue in their own heads. The whole plot seemed to be was if the two were gonna get back together after being separated, 20 years, blah blah, never found out why he left 20 years ago anyway, and if she could sell a particular house. While she’s looking for where this smell is coming from in this house, I am not kidding you she spoke to herself in her head for 12 super long pages. I just started to quickly turn pages hoping eventually she’ll be talking to an actual other person and there’d be something entertaining. I’m going to leave this series unfinished, which I don’t like doing, and maybe I’ll come back to it at some other later date.

Honestly, I am bummed about giving this book a two-star. I had so many high hopes and expectations for this book, and I really wanted to love it.

What I liked:

- Lola. The character who justified the "comedy" tag in this romantic comedy. I loved every bit of the storyline where she was involved!
- It was a nice, light read

One star for each of the above things that I liked!

What I disliked:
- Too much of the storyline is where the FMC talks to herself.
- Couldn't see any spark between the MCs, and I felt that the whole "romantic" storyline was just not strong enough. Apart from my general love for second-chance romances, there was nothing in the book that made me want to root for the MCs to get together. There was no yearning, grovelling, pining, or any sort, especially given the number of decades between their past and the present, and how the MMC went missing again.
- I wish we could understand the MCs better. I would have loved to hear more about their past, about them at the present, and everything in between. I didn't know what the MMC was doing before coming back to Maplewood. I don't fully understand or imagine how the MCs were in the past and how things fell out.
- The length of the book was not justified. I felt robbed of much of the story and dynamic between the MCs, especially given that we had almost 400 pages worth of story to read. It felt like there was room for a lot that could have been done or told, but the whole "selling the property" main storyline dominated much of the book, and we didn't get much story or a strong storyline regarding the dynamics and relationship between the MCs. Even the way the main storyline concluded, I could guess it from a mile away, and it wasn't that strong of a conclusion to that as well.

While I did have some things I didn't like about the book, I didn't mind reading it, and it was nice and a bit fun to read. If there comes any book on Lola, I know for sure I would slurp it up!.

Book 2 of Maplewood Falls. Can be read as a standalone.

'A laugh-out-loud small-town romantic comedy about second chances, chaotic open houses, and what happens when the house you need to sell might also be the one that changes everything.'

The characters were very appealing and likeable and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and well paced. World building was solidly drawn and impressive. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy!.

Slow but still a fun read

Book two we follow becca and Jack I was sad that Sarah was hardly in it and Alex not at all (from book one) book two is focused around a house sale the locals has nicknamed it blue demon. It is blue but marriages end etc no luck in that house. Looks like each book is focused around a female who is a Hartwell distance cousin link. No cliff hanger but this one ends with Margot showing up with her dogs to move back ready for book three.
I did find it slow in places and guest's well where it was leading. But I do like the town. Not a fan of Helen she comes across like she owns the inn.
