Jill is a chocoholic with a big heart, a flair for baking and confection, and a knack for getting into predicaments, including the one where she was almost financially ruined by her ex. Now she’s in a new town, with a new business, and is determined to stay away from trouble. Especially, the gorgeous guardsman with the haunted gaze, brooding expression and miserable attitude. Her days of helping people were over. She was tired of being taken advantage of and was looking forward to getting back on her feet. Too bad her new business venture puts her in daily contact with the sexy man.
It’s all my mother’s fault. She read to me when I was little and sparked my imagination. Now, my mind is the limit, and believe me, there’s no limit to my mind.
Hello, I’m Donna Michaels, NYT & USA Today Bestselling Award winning author of Romaginative fiction. I write romance through the H’s—Hot, Humorous, Heartwarming, with strong alpha cowboys and military men who are equally matched by their heroines.
With a husband retired from the military and now working at a brewery, four children, 2 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, several rescued cats, and my parents living with us, I never run out of material. From short to epic, my books entertain readers across a variety of sub-genres, and one has even been hand drawn into a Japanese Translation. Now, if only I could read it…
A hero with abandonment issues and a heroine who suffered abuse by ex-husband and never had anyone to fight for her. And the best part is that everything is stuffed with lots of chocolate. A story without a lot of depth and it won't stay in memory. I hope the next is better. OK read.
Wyne And Chocolate by Donna Michaels is an amazing read. Thinking about this author's books and it comes to me that Ms Michaels' books seem to be underappreciated. They should be celebrated more. I usually have 2 or 3 books going at the same time but stationed in different parts of the house, so I always have something to read without looking for my book. I just realized today, when reading a Donna Michaels book, I don't set it down. I carry it with me and read it straight through. Because her books are just that good, I don't want to put them down. Wyne And Chocolate is another that I couldn't put down. This is a well-written book, loaded with fantastic characters. Mason and Jill's story is full of drama, suspense, humor (I love Jill's runaway mouth), and plenty of sizzle. I enjoyed every page of Wyne And Chocolate and look forward to my next book by the talented Donna Michaels. Wyne And Chocolate is book 2 of the Citizen Soldier Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Jill works with chocolate and makes it decadent. Mason helps his family run the resort and he is with the guards. Jill is in an accident and Mason and the other guards help her out. After this, Mason starts spending a lot of time with Jill. He still has issues with trust thanks to his ex. Jill is also dealing with an ex. He wants money. As their relationship is really building, Jill's ex almost ruins her career. When Mason witnesses Jill and her ex together, will he let her explain, or does he run?
4 stars I purchased Wyne and Chocolate: A Citizen Soldier Series:Guarding the Hearts in the Pocono Valley book 2 by Donna Michaels and this review was given freely. Chocolateer Jill and Ben's younger brother Mason both have a history of broken romances but find a happy ending with each other. The good natured ribbing between the Wayne brothers adds humor to this steamy romance filled with attraction, violence, arsen, suicide and learning to trust again.
Jill and Mason both had issues with trust and abandonment. Slowly getting to know one another things look good until one thinks the worst. Wonderful story with some really great characters.
The Citizen Soldier series has a fantastic new addition with Wyne and Chocolate. The book had a great start. I found myself laughing out loud right away - and that set the tone for a light-hearted, funny, and romantic read. I really enjoyed how the author described Jill, especially from Mason's point of view. He comes across as a thoughtful man, and I was actually able to picture Jill in my mind from the description Mason gives us!
As we begin to get to know Jill, the author describes the struggles Jill has faced and how that makes her wary of getting involved with men. At the beginning of the book, Jill is struggling on the road, literally having an accident due to potholes in the road during a storm. As she begins to develop feelings for Mason, the author draws parallels between potholes in the road, and potholes in Jill's life, indicating that, "He [Mason] was the biggest one. If she fell in, Jill knew instinctively she wouldn't get out". I LOVED that analogy and it really summarized how Jill was feeling as she began to fall in love with Mason. Jill may have been burned in her previous relationship, but she still has an air of innocence that is sweet to see.
I've read a LOT of romance books, and Wyne and Chocolate has one of the best first kisses that I have read. Mason drops Jill at home and with confidence, chooses to kiss her. The way the author wrote the kiss made my heart go a-flutter!
Mason and Jill have a fun relationship. She is like a lovable klutz and he is confident but not cocky. They begin to get to know each other through fun and laughs, so there isn't a lot of pressure on them. While their feelings are growing, the feelings don't feel overly intense and they are allowed to develop at their own rate. Mason may be quick to assume, due to his past relationships, but he is also quick to discuss and admit his feelings and biases, and it makes for an open and honest relationship. Jill needs that because in her experience, everyone leaves her and she spends most of the book waiting for that to happen. In the end, it was Mason's show of faith in Jill that helped them overcome their worst challenge and head towards their happily every after.
Disclosure: I received an free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Wyne and Chocolate is the second book in the Citizen Soldier Series, and it was simply amazing. As with all of Donna Michaels books, I get drawn in from the very first page, and have trouble putting the book down, until the last page has turned. This book can be read as a stand alone, but is so much better if you read the first book in the series. In that book we met Mason, sometimes referred to as Mason, the grumpy one! We also met Jill in the first book, she is new to town, with a new business, Confection Connection, the lady sure knows her chocolate. Unfortunately, Jill has an ex that no on should have to put up with, and all she wants to do is to get on with living her life. She has all her New Year resolutions that she is determined to stick to, but doesn't count on a little family heirloom pin that belonged to her grandmother, bringing her and Mason together time and again. It seems like no matter how many resolutions she makes, life has entirely different plans for her. This book will make you laugh and cry. It is loaded with fun, suspense, and romance, not to count all the hot National Guard men. Just a warning before you read, if you love chocolate, you will love it even more after this book. Looking forward to the next book in this fantastic series, a very well deserved five stars!!
'Wyne and Chocolate' (Citizen Soldier Book 2) by Donna Michaels is a wonderful read. I loved this story! In this story, we get to know Mason Wyne aka Grumpypuss and Jill Bailey. This story is full of humor, passion, romance, drama, a little sadness, and happiness, oh and I can't forget to mention the hot National Guard men. I can not wait to see what's in store next in this series with the other Wynes: Keiffer and Ethan. Highly recommend to all fans of romance.
Another great book by Donna Michaels, she does a great mix of humor, suspense and romance. I really would love to try Jill's Better Than chocolates and how fun would chocolate penises be at a bridal shower; and then there are the scrumptious Wyne men. Jill, Mason and chocolate can't get much hotter. This really needs to be on your must read list, you will be glad it is.
I have to admit that I am a chocolate addict, so this book had a lot going for it before I even started. Fortunately, I had some amazing chocolate cheesecake on hand while reading because this book really makes you want chocolate - and a Wyne brother! I had to settle for just the chocolate, of course. You will definitely enjoy this book and be looking forward to more when you are done!
May be Ms. Michael's best book so far. She always has you laughing in her books.
This story grabs you from the start of the book with the chemistry between Jill and Mason and goes all the way to the end. Jill and Mason make a great couple. They both have so many trust issues, will they be able to overcome them? Maybe with the help of some chocolate they can.
This is such a good book, part of a series, but can be read as a standalone. Full of comedy, drama, suspense, and really hot sex, this book has it all. Taking two people who have trust and abandonment issues to a HEA, is a challenge, but this author is more than up to the task.
Donna Michaels out does herself with each series she writes. This book continues on with the stories of the Wyne brothers. The ability to trust again is the theme of this one and it keeps you reading all the way through.
Donna Michaels has another winner! It's the perfect romantic story set in the Poconos with hot strong military men and strong women who love them unconditionally. Keep this series coming Donna.
