A toy-making forest nymph. Her runescribed ex. And a little girl in need of a magical Christmas to bring them together.
Six years after Adrian walked out of her life, Hazel has found peace in Toys & Twigs, her enchanted toy shop in the small town of Willowmere. Each winter, she crafts one special toy infused with real magic—her gift to a child most in need of holiday cheer.
When Adrian returns for the holidays with his orphaned niece Clara, Hazel’s quiet life is turned upside down in the most unexpected way. He needs her help creating something extraordinary for Clara—a toy that might bring light back to the little girl’s eyes. Agreeing to help means spending lots of time together, but Hazel never expected that shared nights of caroling, cocoa, and candlelight would rekindle old feelings.
Now she must protect her heartwood or risk it once more for love, family, and a spark of Christmas enchantment. Can one magical nutcracker heal three broken hearts—and remind them that even amidst winter’s darkest days, love can still take root?
Perfect for fans of cozy, sweet, romantasy, small-town magic, and heartwarming holiday second chances. This book can be read as a stand-alone or as part of the series.
A cozy, heartwarming, quick seasonal read with soft magic, small-town charm, and second-chance romance. Which is basically my favorite lane.
A toy-making forest nymph, an ex, a magical Christmas, and a little girl who needs a bit of holiday magic to bring everyone back together? Yeah… that’s a setup that works every single time. Count me in HALLMARK! This story leans heavily into warmth, nostalgia, and that quiet emotional healing that comes with winter romances. Hazel feels like the kind of FMC who has learned how to protect her heart by building a peaceful life around her craft, and Toys & Twigs is like the coziest setting imaginable. The idea of her creating one magical toy each year for a child in need is such a sweet, gentle touch and perfectly fits the tone this author is known for. The second-chance romance aspect also feels very intentional here. Adrian returning with his orphaned niece adds emotional depth without tipping into heaviness, and I love that the story seems to focus on rebuilding trust, found family, and healing rather than rushing the romance. Shared moments like caroling, cocoa, and candlelight are exactly what I want from a holiday story. One thing I truly appreciate about this author is that these books are quick, comforting reads. They’re perfect for seasonal mood reading, and I actually love that they don’t overstay their welcome because I’m always ready for the next season and the next storyline.
Another nice read to get through in this series—very warm, cozy, heartfelt, and romantic! The Christmas theme in this was very cute, especially with the references to The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol! I will say, it wasn’t exactly the strongest book so far in this series, but I’d say still a good read! Definitely will be continuing this series for sure!
I love the holiday season so reading this in June was perfect, it brought me right into the festive world of Willowmere during Christmas and I am here for it. I loved the characters and just the “feel good”-ness of this read.
