When a beloved member of Brookdale face plants into a pie during the county fair, it's up to Lizzie Crenshaw and her friends to figure out who the real murderer is before his widow (and Lizzie's archenemy) spends the rest of her life in prison.
I’m the daughter of a semi-retired Methodist minister, and have spent most of my life living in Texas and New Mexico (no, I am not a native Texan; I was born in the state of Washington). I graduated from West Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in 2000. I taught school for a couple of years before realizing that I really wanted to spend my time writing.
I’m a daughter, mother, wife, sister, granddaughter. Currently, I live in North Texas with my husband, and my son has gone off to college. I have a wicked sense of humor and find almost anything funny.
That’s about it. If there is something else you want to know, ask me!
This is the sixth short story about Lizzie Crenshaw. I've enjoyed reading the previous stories before and when I found out there was a new story in the series, I knew I had to read it right away. There was a lot fun moments in here. The story was just as fast paced and interesting as always. Looking forward to reading the next book soon.
This is a novelette so there is not a lot of time for character or plot development so it is better if you have read other books in the series so that you are familiar with the people. The murderer comes as a surprise since there is not a lot of previous mention of the character. When you find out who the murderer and co-conspirator are their reactions border on unbelievable. Nonetheless a cozy read.
I find the books in this series to be utterly delightful. Death Takes the Blue Ribbon brings us to characters we know with a new perspective when one of the town regulars dies during a pie eating contest and the spouse of the victim turns to Lizzie for help. She is not please to be paired with TJ several times during the ensuing investigation but maybe time together isn't a bad them.
